I enjoyed this sci-fi crime story. It was not what I expected it was so much better. This story has so many twists and turns that I couldn’t help to be gripped from beginning to end. It is an original story which was a great mixture of danger, Suspense, lies, betrayal and a young girl finally learning who she can and can’t trust. I loved Mouse’s character. She maybe almost 16 but she has a very mature head on her shoulders. The way she reacts and overcomes the obstacles in front of her is great to read. I loved how determined she is not to give up. She has a determination to get to the truth no matter what that is or what she finds along the way. I also love her brother Mepth he is so protective of Mouse but when he is giving the horrible choice of protecting his sister or his daughter which will he choose.
The story starts with Mouse recording a crime with her drone. A crime that involves her family. But before she has chance to investigate it properly she is kidnapped. Who would kidnap her? And for what reason? The answer to those questions show just how much betrayal runs in the family and has her questioning everything she once thought. Can she escape the kidnappers? Will she turn her family in for the crimes they have committed? How can she live alongside people who she now can no longer trust? This was a great read. I really recommend reading it if you like a story that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

This book is amazing! The characters grapple with ethical dilemmas that we face today. People try not to look at things too carefully- if you don’t see something bad happening, you don’t ever have to do anything about it. However, actions have consequences, and some things, once they are seen, can never be forgotten. A pair of sibling protagonists must wrestle with changing family dynamics, even as they fight to expose corruption around them.

Seen, is an original sci-fi story set in a dystopian world full of mystery, murder, emotional family drama, and trust issues. The brother-sister bond between Mouse and Meph creates depth to the plot as they struggle to survive and keep the bone strong. The author did a good job crafting a vivid and detailed world in which to set her story. The individual character arcs were well-developed with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. This is a novel worth reading.

I really enjoyed everything about this book, right from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down or find out what would happen next to mouse. This read was filled with so much that can really keep you in the story till the end, sci-fi, adventure, action, violence, murder, mystery, suspense, drama. The way the settings were detailed it makes you feel like your right there in the story watching like a fly on the wall. It really brought the story to life and makes you feel like this world could be real. Mouse is an incredible character, she has to fight as a journalist but ended up seeing something that maybe she shouldn’t have, but she is a strong-willed girl. Mouses development in the story is incredible it’s like she grow up right before your eyes. The other characters are amazingly well written and well developed it makes you feel like you know them in real life. This was an incredible story and im happy I was able to read it.

Seen by Lori Nelson. This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. This is not my favorite genre but I loved this book. Its a dystopian Sci Fi about a 16 year old girl named Mouse. Mouse has accidentally seen a member of her family murdered and taken a picture of it. Mouse is working as a intern at the town newspaper. She struggles on what to do with this information. She decides that no one needs to know anything about this so she hides everything. Before she can start her own investigation she is kidnapped for ransom. Enter her brother Meph and he has the awful decision of saving his daughter or his sister. For Mouse knowing her father has caused all of this is heartbreaking and she doesn’t know if she can come back from this. Will her brother be able to help her escape or will she meet her death with these kidnappers all thanks to her father? Such a good book full of mystery, murder, emotional family drama and trust issues.

I really enjoyed this. It’s got 36 short stories in it and each one was enthralling and kept my pages turning. My favorite one was Alice’s Illusions as it kept me guessing about what was actually happening right till the end and i love that in a book. Alice is a great character because she’s just a normal girl who is trying to navigate life without being in the spotlight too much. She meets this seemingly normal boy and falls in love but not all is as it seems. I loved it! All of the stories in this collection are enjoyable to read and I would definitely recommend this one!

This is a story with mystery, intrigue and family drama with a sci fi twist. Mouse, interning for a newspaper in a not so safe world, witnesses something she never should have seen which changes her viewpoint on her family and makes her unsafe in her own home.
I don’t know how to describe my feelings but in one word, underwhelmed. While the storyline was good, the writing style was difficult for me to enjoy. The dialogue among characters felt stiff and not how a normal conversation should flow. I found myself not enjoying this book as much because my frustrations with the writing distracted me from the overall plot. There was no defining moment where the book shifted and increased in interest for me. It felt even toned throughout and the ending was not my favorite outcome. I was hoping for more but this is just an OK read for me.

This Anthology is a truly fantastic collection of sci-fi romance stories created by incredibly talented authors. With so many stories in one place this book offers hours and hours of enjoyment so once you start don’t plan to stop any time soon! LOL There are so many stories to choose from and such a wide variety you will not be disappointed with whichever story you choose. You might well be like me and read them all! I couldn’t help myself. I was drawn to this anthology by the fact that author Naomi Valkyrie had a story in it called The Alien and The Crime Boss. I always enjoy her work and this one definitely did not disappoint! I loved absolutely everything about Leilphun and Kasper and of course their story. It was original and had me hooked from start to finish.

Seen by Lori Nelson is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the cover intrigued me, and then the blurb sealed the deal, promising an original sci-fi adventure I could really sink my teeth into. So, I let my one-click finger loose and dove right in as soon as it hit my Kindle. What I found was a raw and gritty dystopian adventure with plenty of mystery, sci-fi elements, intriguing cybernetics, action, violence, murder, gory details, bloody brutality, futuristic technology & setting, politics, plots, agendas, greed, investigation, suspense, family, friendship, kidnapping, torture, a frontier-like justice system, emotion, drama, danger, betrayal, and much more. The author did a fantastic job crafting a vividly detailed world in which to set her story. Her descriptions, originality, and other clever touches brought the story to life right before my eyes. I could see this making a great movie, or mini-TV series. Mouse Mouzer isn’t your typical (almost) sixteen-year-old. She has ambitions to become a hard-hitting journalist just like her mentor. So, to accomplish that she’s on the hunt for a career-making story that will ignite her dreams. Going out with her crow shaped drone, Gossip, Mouse scours the dark alleys and violent hot spots for anything that she could use in a hard-hitting expose. The adventure begins when Mouse captures more than she bargained for with her drone camera. But to use the footage would bring life-changing consequences for her entire family, destroying her beloved family unit- so she is torn with what to do. Things soon take a dangerous turn, and Mouse finds herself in a deadly game of cat and mouse. What happens makes for a gripping read. There is more going on than first meets the eye that adds an extra element of suspense to the whole story. Ms. Nelson doesn’t let off the intensity accelerator the entire time- making for an adrenaline-fuelled read. The hits just kept coming, really putting her character/s (and me) through the wringer- I was exhausted and completely emotionally drained just reading everything they went through. I felt like I was right there, going through the wringer with them. I was completely invested in them and the outcome of the story- and couldn’t put the book down for a minute just in case I missed something. The characters were all really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I enjoyed watching them develop and grow over the course of the story as they handled all the challenges that came their way. There were the endearing characters that I loved, but there were an awful lot of horrid characters, who I detested and really wanted to see get their ‘karma’. Some did, but others, like Timothy and co, didn’t get their ‘just-desserts’!! There were also some developments that broke my heart that I really can’t get into here without giving away spoilers- but suffice to say that I was yelling at my Kindle, cursing at the author (sorry-not sorry, Ms Nelson) for doing what she did. She knows what she did!!! She toyed with my heart and made me cry!!! I loved the story, and how original and gritty it was- but there are some sensitive topics that occur throughout the story- so if you have any triggers you might want to keep this in mind- subjects such as abuse, graphic violence, gore, murder, emotional abuse, manipulation, assault, attempted rape, betrayal (and more). So, if I loved the story, then why 4 stars instead of 5- well, I was really torn by what I should rate this, but ultimately even though the book had a gripping storyline and great characters, some of the dialogue didn’t feel quite authentic, and there were a few (minor) editing issues (but not enough to really detract from my over-all enjoyment of the story)- but my main issue was that I was left with a slew of unanswered questions and a loose threads. I am hoping that means that there will be another adventure coming with Mouse, Meph, and co- that might bring the answers I am looking for. I will have to wait and see (hint, hint Ms. Nelson 😊)… I will definitely be going on a one-click spree to snap up any of Ms. Nelson’s other works to explore in the meantime. Happy Reading…

Aliens on Earth is a limited edition collection of romance short stories by various authors. Some I’m familiar with and many were new to me but I enjoyed them all just the same. Each short story is packed with, magic, drama, Romance and so much more. Each authors style of writing is different but they pull you into their world just the same. Naomi Valkyrie is one author I never hesitate picking up and this short story The Alien & The Crime the Boss is a prime example why. It’s a MM Alien Mafia Romance that will pull you in from the first page and doesn’t’ let go till the end. Its characters are developed strong and make the story come to life. I highly recommend reading this Anthology by these amazing authors there truly is something for everyone in it. Im definitely looking forward to checking out what other books many of these authors have written.

Seen is an original sci fi tale set in a dystopian world. This is the first time I have read this author’s work and it is an interesting and intriguing tale. The story starts off with a bang from the get-go and that sets the tone of the story. It’s full of drama, action, suspense, revenge, and lots more. With betrayal, danger, corruption, kidnappings, schemes, vengeance, ransom and murder you are drawn into the story. I enjoyed the bond between Mouse and Meph and their easy banter with each other and Tate. In a world gone crazy with darkness looming on street corners, looking for the right story to tell could be deadly. I enjoyed this book and look forward to what comes next from Lori. It would be good if Mouse and the gang get more stories.

This is a well written story that has twists and turns that you won’t see coming. A story full of suspense and action. A fast paced story about Mouse. She discovers that a family member has murdered someone but as she investigates this for a story, she is kidnapped. This is where the story picks up and is hard to put down. I had to know what happened to Mouse and if she survived. I enjoyed her character and what she added to the story made it that more entertaining to read. There is great growth of the plot throughout. The characters pull you into their world of suspense and murder. I really enjoyed reading this book and easy it was to read. I highly recommend this book.

Mouse is three months from her 16th birthday, a legal adult, and she still has an idealistic belief about family. Working as an intern at a local newspaper with her older brother Meph, to drive her around and protect her, she wants to write a news article that will get her hired when she graduates high school in the spring. She thinks she found the perfect story until it leads her to a dark alley where she records a member of her beloved family murdering a young girl. Unwilling to believe that her own beloved family member could commit such a crime in cold blood she hides the recording, especially when she learns that victims of crimes must pay for the help received down to the cost of bullets used. Before she can figure out what to do, she is kidnapped.
The captors let it slip that her father arranged Mouse’s abduction for a kidnap and ransom insurance scheme that he’s been running, and he doesn’t want her back, leaving her feeling like she can trust no one.
Rescued from the kidnappers Mouse must figure out how to get evidence of the story to her mentor at the news firm. Meanwhile her father hasn’t given up on the ransom scheme. At the family residence, the kidnappers find other victims and now Mouse’s older brother, Meph, must decide between protecting Mouse from his father’s vengeance or rescuing his young daughter. Their father is narrowing in on Mouse’s location to kill her before she can release the video and ruin him.

This is a nice collection of stories. Each author brings readers into a new world and characters. I enjoyed these stories and would find it hard to pick just one as a favorite. Alongside the authors that I read there were a lot of new authors for me to enjoy. This collection has a good variety of characters from an alien dating app to alien mafia and a lot of what is in between. These short stories give you a glimpse into so many worlds and many different relationship, there are also different heat levels and matches that there should be something for just about everyone in these stories. It was nice to find myself immersed in different journeys and configurations but always finding the love shine through it all.

This anthology was a little outside of my normal genre but there were a few stories that caught my eye so I wanted to give it a try. The first story I read was The Alien & The Crime Boss by Naomi Valkyrie. This is the story of Leilphun, who is exiled from his home planet for standing up for what he believes in, and Kasper, the crime boss who is fighting for what is rightfully his. This is a quick read and definitely feels rushed is places, but I believe that Valkyrie could flush this story out more and really develop the characters and plot line. I really enjoyed this story. This is a MM romance and there is allusion to spice, but no direct spiciness. The second story I read was Her Alien Rock Star by Elle Ryan. This was a very short, but very spicy read. I definitely feel this one could be fleshed out more as well. There is a story here waiting to be developed. I really liked the connection between AJ and Ceol that Ryan was able to convey to the readers within a very short amount of time. And the amount of spice and the level of creative license on appendages and their abilities…just *chef’s kiss*! Overall, I really enjoyed the stories in this anthology even though it was a little out of my wheelhouse. It definitely introduced me to some new authors that I look forward to reading. And for the most part, these stories are quick and easy reads. Great if your are looking for something short and spicy.

The Alien and the Crime Boss by Naomi Valkyrie Leilphun is on the run. He lands on Earth close to a crime boss. Lucky for him, the crime boss also needs him. What looks like a relationship built on convenience quickly becomes more for the two. This love is action packed with danger. I found it to have an original storyline compared to the other sci fi alien stories I’ve read, and will stand out among others. It took me a little time to like Kasper, but I like Leilphun immediately. While reading this story, I felt the full range of emotions – fear, worry, dread, sadness, happiness, peace with an outcome, and anticipation. Great job with the plot and characters!
Exiled by Aurora Hunter Aztlan and Zaya’s romance was one of my favorites of the sci-fi I’ve read. Maybe it was because she was older or maybe because she was cynical of the whole thing. I liked that the author presented the prejudice she had against aliens as well. I thought that was original. It’s always interesting how the different cultures unfold to me, and this one was great. Aztlan and Zaya have great chemistry, and the plot was set up really well. If you aren’t sure you will like the sci-fi reads, this one is a great one to start with.

I fell in LOVE with this anthology! I greatly appreciate that the stories are divided by ‘Heat Levels’ in the beginning so you have a little peek of what you’re getting yourself into. The first that I thoroughly enjoyed was The Alien & The Crime Boss by Naomi Valkyrie, which was categorized under ‘Heat Level 2’. I definitely felt like it was properly labeled as such. You are dropped right into the action in the beginning, and I always like stories with dual point-of-view, which Valkyrie does a stunningly great job with. You will be fully invested in Kasper and Leilphun’s journey. The second story I was drawn to was My Boss is an Alien by Ashlyn Hawkes. This was appropriately labeled as ‘Heat Level 4’ which did NOT disappoint in terms of spice. It is also told in the dual point-of-view, which I enjoyed. This entire collection is amazing, you should definitely pick it up because you’re bound to find at least one that is right up your alley!

I love finding books that are collections of many authors! It’s a great chance to find new to me authors or stories. There are so many stories but I’m only reviewing a couple. I hope to read the rest at another time since life gets in the way of my reading. lol
Alice’s Illusions by Maya Black Alice a teenage girl is an outcast of sorts at school. Alice is dealing with the trauma from her sister passing and seems so very lonely. Hal, the new student, seems to gravitate towards her right away which she didn’t expect. Having Hal in her life seems to help Alice but soon she’s not so sure. A lot of things happen to make her wonder if she’s losing her mind. What is it about Hal that has her questioning herself? The author did a great job with this relatable story of a teenage girl and with the location/ world where the story takes place.
The Alien & The Crime Boss A MM story about an Alien and a Crime boss. What an interesting mix to end up in! Lielphun arrives on earth only to find Kasper a crime boss intent on building up his empire. Whatever happens, I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading this story. The characters are great, and the world building is too. I have read many stories by Naomi Valkyrie and she never disappoints.

Overall this collection contains a good selection to try out some new authors and genres. Being short and sweet, these stories give you a quick taste of the authors and sub-genres and if you enjoy it, you can then go and explore more or follow the series they belong to. There are so many sub-genres that you’re bound to find something that suits you, for example I love criminal elements, so I was drawn to The Alien and the Crime Boss.
There are too many books for me to review each and every one so I’ll be reviewing a small selection individually.
ALICE’S ILLUSIONS: This one had me a little emotional at parts due to the portrayal off the aftermath of the loss of Alice’s sister and the effect it has on her and her parents. I really felt for Alice and how she was feeling and I just wanted to reach out and comfort her. I felt the pain the characters were experiencing, and this is what stood out to me the most in the author’s writing.
THE ALIEN AND THE CRIME BOSS: This is the one I was looking forward to reading the most – I love a good mafia character. I thought this was an original concept and I was invested beginning to end. I enjoyed the story running in the background as well, not just the romance blossoming between Leilphun and Kasper, it added more depth and complexity to the story and was another point of interest in the story. It’s one of my favourites from the collection. I enjoyed experiencing Leilphun and Kasper coming together, learning each other’s mannerisms and coming into their own. I especially loved Leilphun’s character development, it was great to see him really come into his own as a warrior in his desire to defend and protect Kasper.
HER ALIEN ROCK STAR: This is the shortest story of the collection at only 3 chapters, but it still packs a punch. AJ and Ceol get a second chance at love, and it certainly gets steamy. For such a short contribution I was impressed by how well it had been put together. I was a little apprehensive to read it as I thought it may feel like key elements would be missing but I’m glad to say that was not the case. The characters were interesting, as was the alien anatomy.
CHASTITY UNCHAINED: From the first sentence I loved this one. I was chuckling at Harker, the way she came across from the beginning made her my favourite in the entire collection. She was written so well, her personality really stood out. My only issue is that the story ended too soon, I wanted a whole lot more from Harker. Another thing I loved about her is that Harker is a plus-sized character, and I love the representation as being desirable. I know I keep singing her praises, but I love her strength in the face of abduction after a series of already emotional events. She shows no fear in ‘fighting back’ to both Zaron and Cahn. She’s hilarious and I could read her point of view all day.
MY BROTHER’S ALIEN MATCH: This one is sweet, it gets intense and very steamy, but it’s sweet. I wasn’t too keen on Taylor when I first started reading, I get he was hurting but my poor Robin didn’t deserve his lashing out. Robin is a very supportive brother to Taylor, and I love the loyalty and the support he shows his brother but my heart broke when I learnt how Robin viewed himself. In trying to help his brother, Robin meets Lando. I adore Robin and Lando, I really do, they’re both so sweet and supportive! I enjoy the character development in this story as Lando helps Robin see his worth and I can’t get enough.

A true collection of wonderful sci-fi romances This anthology of sci-fi romance stories that don’t skimp on the details. There is something for everyone from diary excerpts to alien rock stars and even a paranormal sci fi cross romance. I truly adore Naomi Valkyrie’s work and was pleased this anthology included a short story of hers. The Alien and the Crime Boss is a short MM alien romance that features Leilphun who is on the run after being exiled and heads to Earth for sanctuary. He ends up crossing paths with Kasper, a mafia crime boss, and gets more than he bargained for. Another great author that I was happy to see included was Danielle Jacks. Alien Prince is a great little romance adventure that had me totally hooked. Naomi and Zenith had so much chemistry and the multilayered storyline was well done. This is a collection not to miss. Highly recommend.
