Alterations was a very interesting read, while Sci/fi isn’t usually my thing I really enjoyed this short read. While alterations was a short read Jane Suen was able to pack a lot of information into her pages and developed her characters well. Her characters are so well developed and the story so intriguing that you’ll find yourself quickly devouring this book in one sitting. Ms. Suen gives us so much mystery, and drama that she will keep you guessing until the very end. So if your looking for a Sci/fi filled with great characters, mystery, drama and more then you should read Ms. Suen’s Alterations.

This is an excellent sci-fi read! I so enjoyed all of the characters that you get to read about and it helps that there is a character list at the beginning of the book. I loved reading all if the different descriptions of the multiverse! I really liked reading about Hirisho and about Rashella. The writer is descriptive but not overboard and he has a great writing style. I look forward to reading more from James Talisman!

Alterations is a mysterious sci-fi read that draws you in from the first chapter and holds you captive until the last. What really drew me into this book was the theory of it all. Science is constantly advancing, changing, and things like cellphones, microchips, and robots are ever-changing – the impossible has become possible. So, when the idea of ‘altering’ something on cellular levels is posed in the way that it has been in this book, I was hooked. The events of the book are told in such a way you’re constantly finding something new out – either about the advancements of a doctor’s technology or that of the lives of people he’s directly or indirectly affecting. You can see the intentions of the tech is good, but there’s that little voice in the back of your mind whispering, ‘something’s not quite right here…’.

This original and intriguing story is the first book in a new trilogy and having been gripped all the way through this first instalment I now can not wait for book two. This fairly short but action packed read is a real page turner of a sci-fi thriller and although not my normal genre I was thoroughly immersed in the unique storyline and felt engaged with the main characters. This is a book that really gets the reader thinking. The story is told from three very different but relatable women’s view, Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly all of whom are desperate to change their lives and so turn to the fourth main character, the mysterious Dr. Kite. He offers them a radical new medical procedure, a ‘quick fix’, an implant that can control their mind. The three women are willing to risk the unknown side effects in the hope that they find the happiness they crave. However, will getting their deepest desires become their worst nightmare. A thought provoking read which I definitely recommend and as the story continues in book two I am now eager to read the next instalment.

I enjoyed this book by Jane Suen. Alterations explored the possibility of individuals being able to change aspects of their bodies or minds with technology. The story gave us a glimpse of what the future could be, both the good and the bad should humans try to go down the path of playing god in the attempt to perfect the human body. Jane Suen’s novel provides both hope and caution to humans as we continue to look for easy fixes in a quest to live forever. Jane Suen is a new author for me but based on the book Alterations, I look forward to reading more from her.

Journey Through SpaceTime tells the story of a group of unlikely allies from all different worlds and walks of life. This group of protagonists began a fight to save their worlds and their reality. When the teachers appear, they shake the group’s core beliefs of what reality is and should be.

First off, I want to start by saying I am NOT normally a Sci-Fi, Space novel reader. However, this novel may have changed my mind! The MultiVerse is something I have never really delved into, but Journey Through SpaceTime presents it in a way that draws in the reader and kept my attention for the entire novel. James Talisman writes a story about the classic good vs. evil dilemma, that is full of wonderful characters, fantastic worlds, and great stories. Journey Through SpaceTime will be the Sci-Fi novel I recommend for years to come. It is one that everyone should read at least once. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

This is a new author for me, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but it came with a good recommendation from a friend of mine because she knows that I love anything that has to do with space. She was correct in the fact that I would enjoy it as I truly did. The author did an amazing job drawing me in with his descriptions of the characters and the worlds they were in. I am a true space geek from Star Trek to Star Wars, so I was drawn into this story from the first chapter. I believe that there will be a continuation of his story. At least I hope. There is a whole lot more that I would love to find out because I became so connected to these characters that I didn’t want to put the book down. And I didn’t. I started this book after work yesterday and finished it before I went to bed last night because it was that good. If you are a fan of space fantasy as I am, I highly recommend you read this book.

Intriguing sci-fi
Alterations is a very intriguing sci-fi thriller. Jane Suen does an excellent job interweaving the character’s stories. The concept of the chip has an originality and drew me in from the start. Easy-to-read and thought provoking I devoured the book. I am really looking forward to continuing the trilogy and seeing what happens with Dr. Kite.

The story Journey’s Through SpaceTime (Journey’s Through Book 1) by James Talisman is a differently amazing read. It hooks you in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The book has many different characters. The way the author has developed each character is just astounding. Each character is so unique that they could have between real people in real life. This novel is filled full of adventure and discovers each characters true potential. While this isn’t one of my normal genres that I read, I decided to give it a shot and ended up liking it.

Alterations by Jane Suen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading the synopsis, Alterations intrigued me. The author chose to start with a slow build then implementing twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and waiting for more. I appreciated the various characters and their points of views. It was cohesive and while some areas left you with questions, they were answered masterfully later in the story. Some of the events left my jaw hitting the floor. The idea of an implant that the character Dr.Kite made is not far-fetched in the real world, making this story a hair tingling possibility. I am looking forward to reading the next book and follow the trilogies progression.

What would you do if someone offered you a way to lose weight quickly and easily with no surgery and no side effects? How about if they offered to treat a chronic illness that you have? Or maybe help you overcome bitterness and anger towards an ex? Would you do it? In Alterations, find out what three women will choose to do and what the consequences are in their lives. This was a very fast read, and I loved the concept and story. The only thing I didn’t like was that it felt very incomplete due to being the first book in a series. I recommend reading this story as well as the rest of the series!

Alterations is the first book in the alterations trilogy by Jane Suen. This is the story of three women desperate to change their lives and Dr. Kite who has an implant for the job. I loved this book and it also terrified me. It’s so frightening to think of the things technology can do or will be able to do in the future, and this book takes you to a world where technology can change everything. I got lost in the words of this book and into this world and before I knew it the book was over. Thankfully though there are two more books.

WOW! This quick read had my mind reeling from the story of the three women Ms. Suen based her first novel in this series on. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t to sit down and finish this book in one sitting, however, there was no way that I was putting it down before I did. I found myself most drawn to Ellen, rather than GiGi and Lilly, being that she had struggled her whole life with self-confidence, her weight, and not feeling ‘right’ in her own skin. The author does a phenomenal job of building the characters up, in a short period of time, so you connect with all four, and really want to know more, and more, and MORE. I am very excited to read ‘Game Changer,’ and see what Dr. Kite has in store for us next time. Would recommend reading this series, for sure!

This is a medical game of Russian Roulette with chip implants. Who got the defective ones? Gigi, Ellen and Lily all think Dr. Kite can solve their problems with a magical cure but it seems that everything comes with a price…and maybe not all is as it seems. A quick read but a nice intense read. The characters remind me of a medical drama (which I love) so I personally can’t wait to read more. Dr. Kite is just the right kind of psycho creepy. Don’t mind me ladies, I have an office in most secluded area downtown. I have goosebumps thinking about it. Highly recommend! Must read!

I really enjoyed this story. It is an interesting concept about a microchip being able to change our lives for the better or the worst.

Gigi, Lilly  and Ellen all went to Dr Kite for help. Gigi needed help with a medical condition, Ellen wanted help losing weight and Lilly needed help staying young and overcoming her divorce.
Dr Kite helped all 3 women, however Dr Kite isn’t a real doctor and what none of them realise is the consequences of the chips. Sometimes getting what you want in life isn’t worth consequences.

This book is a Sci-Fi short story craftily told. Gigi, Lily, and Ellen are every day women struggling to find that happy medium and happy ending. We explore their search for love, youth, and the battle to be thinner.
Dr. Kite believes he has the promises and answers which can be your worst nightmare, or your greatest risk with a success. It makes you question how far you would go to fulfill your dreams. This sci-fi book will certainly have you question the avenues and the limits you’re willing to go for that quick fix. Jane Suen weaves an amazing tale lacking no mystery/suspense about the lengths taken to obtain your desires.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) is the first installment to this Sci/Fi/ fantasy story. Mr. Talisman gives us a complex and detailed story with lots of characters to keep track of. This story has everything that a reader could ask for including action, hidden agendas, politics, adventure, and danger. There’s so much in this story that you find yourself flipping the pages eagerly to find out what happens next. Since this is the first installment to this series there are a lot of suspenseful moments, some of which get tied up in pretty bows and others that are left unsolved, leaving his readers to anticipate book two. But if your looking for an exciting Sci/Fi/fantasy book to read this weekend then I highly recommend Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman.

Alterations (Alterations #1)Alterations by Jane Suen

This is a good book with an interesting premise. A magic little implant to solve your big problem, what could go wrong? A topical story premise in this age of science, where editing DNA is possible and carries with it a big debate of ethicality. Dr. Kite is as you would expect, smart but a little fanatical and rushing progress in spite of problems (and let’s not forget his questionable title of “Dr.”). The women are desperate for a change. A heady combination. The story moved along well and I liked seeing the perspective from not only the doctor’s eyes, but the patients as well. However, at times it felt like an omniscient narrator barged in to make observations that were not in line with the character’s voice. It would have been even better if the characters just spoke for themselves, not being overridden with interjections about them. Something about that felt a bit inauthentic to me. However, besides that, I thought the book was well-written and worth a read.

Alterations by Jane Suen is the first book in the Alterations Trilogy. This is a brilliant book that focuses on the old adage of be careful what you wish for. What I loved most about this book is that fact that it isn’t too far removed from reality. You can so easily imagine this type of scenarios being exactly where society is headed. Because of that I thought it was so easy to connect with the story. Although it was a pretty quick read you become invested in the characters and everything that happens to them. As the start of a series this is a strong opening. It has definitely piqued my interest and I cannot wait to read the next books.

The first book in the Journeys Through series, James Talisman’s debut novel is very well written! Never before have I seen a debut author so expertly weave through multiple storylines, give such in depth descriptions of many characters, or catch my attention as quickly as he did in Journeys Through SpaceTime.

Whether you are reading about a sword masters’ son or ‘ordinary’ college student from Earth, James writes a novel that makes you feel as if you are right there along with the main characters as they travel through the MultiVerse on an epic adventure. James does a great job of explaining the MultiVerse to the reader, which is what drew me to the novel in the first place. I definitely recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the recent Marvel productions, which has also played on the idea of there being a MultiVerse.

This was a very interesting take on body, mind, and health alterations. Makes you second guess what you allow to be put into your body and the effects it will have. Dr. Kite is not what he portrays. It left me feeling kind of freaked out to be honest. The three women are each unique in the help they are hoping to receive but is it worth it in the end? This is a very quick read that will keep you pondering for a while.

This story was exceptional. It was extremely well-written in such a way as to capture the reader’s attention. The complexity of the characters and the world he built was astonishing. The way he interwove the worlds and characters and tied everything together kept me invested in wanting to know what was coming next. There were also so many intense ideas that just made me think and I kept wanting to save them so that I didn’t forget them. My favorite is probably the simplicity of “We are all one.” It makes me think of the world today and the way I believe we should interact with each other because we are all one species. We are all human, and part of one world. That may not have been the case in the book, but in this world, it is and that’s so important and just really resonated with me.

This was a very interesting book. Imagine being able to change something you don’t like about yourself quickly and easily. The characters in this book attempt to do just this using chips that a doctor created. Is it worth the prices they pay though? This was an easy read and very thought provoking. As someone who struggles with weight I related to the character Ellen the most.

Alterations (Alterations #1)Alterations by Jane Suen

I picked up this book as the story interested me with different characters and I was curious how it would come about as the story progressed.

No questions asked, right from the start, I was more than intrigued. I related to the women of the novel called Ellen, Lilly, and Gigi. All of them had truly different desires and wanted a change and a chance to be happy. This basically from the moment head first intrigued me. The desires were so common as I feel a lot of us feel this every day. One lady wanted to be thinner and her personal body appearance bothered her. Another went through a time in her life where she got divorced and she was unhappy in life and desired to feel joys of living her life again. And last, but the least, the 3rd woman is suffering from a medical illness and she strongly desired to beat it.

All 3 women I found to be very likeable characters and defiantly very relatable. I found myself rooting for them right when I learning about the aspects of their characters.

Dr. Kite, the is the doctor who says he can help them reach their dreams and desires. To be right from is introduction, I was getting the strong vibes he is a doctor mad with power…but how far does that power go? The ladies of this novel wanted their happiness and didn’t care the cost, as they truly thought was there to help them reach their inner motives to be happy.

Sadly, as I would expect, these desires and happiness the ladies wanted come with a price. And it turned out to have dire consequences…probably more than and me as well would expect truly! The book was a very fast read, and the author kept the suspense raised up high. I honestly didn’t want to put it down. I found there was no pages of filling in with info to carry the story alone. I found every page connected to the one before and the page after it, I hung on to the pages to see what would happen.

Its gripping and will suck you in to say the least. When I got to ending, it was indeed a suspenseful cliff hanger. Now I desperately need to read and get my hands on the rest of the series

I’m so glad I came across this novel and read this this book, and plus now I have a new author I can adore and await more novels from 🙂

Honestly pick this book up and read it. Its different and original. The story progresses in ways I did not expect or was prepared for. Its visionary it unfolds is strikingly suspenseful, you will only regret not reading this sooner.

Well done to this gifted author 🙂

To paraphrase the book description, “Gigi, Ellen, Lilly… three women so desperate to change their lives that they turn to the mysterious Dr. Kite, who offers them an implant that can control their mind.”

Three women’s lives come together with Dr. Kite, who has a quick-fix for each of these three women’s short comings. Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly are determined to change and better themselves as human beings. Each women has a different short-coming; a different end-goal. Gigi has a mysterious disease. Ellen has issues with her weight. And Lilly, who is unhappy after a terrible divorce, is looking for eternal youth. And Dr. Kite has one simple solution for all of their problems! A microchip that will help? What could go wrong?

I love how the author, Jane Suen, leads you into the three women’s characters lives and problems separately. There are three different story lines that somehow tie into one plot. I love the perspective of each individual character and how their lives develop throughout.

I cannot wait to read the second book!

This was a very original fantasy read. The author gives a look into saving the multiverse by using several characters. It was a little hard to keep up at times due to large words but being a fan of DC comics, I actually like the multiverse angle. Having so many characters should satisfy many, they are so well-defined and each have a specific role. The descriptions used by the author also made it very easy to picture what was going on in your head. A must read!

Journeys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman is a book I had a hard time putting down. The author’s ability to not only create several complex universes and characters, but tie them together and have them flow naturally is spectacular! I fell in love with so many characters in this book. I loved seeing them develop as they learned how to truly harness their abilities.
Readers are drawn in immediately as we are teased with each universe’s main characters. It made me yearn to know more, thus I could not put it down! This is a very complex book, so I did read a few chapters over to make sure I did not miss any key information.
Overall, I loved reading Journeys Through SpaceTime. The only wish I have for this book is to have separate books that dive deeper into these characters’ origins! I’d love to see even more of them and what their worlds are like in different areas!

I am not a big sci-fi fan, but man oh man did Mr James have me on this book. His character building and writing is just phenomenal. He sets the world and the scene and brings you into it. I felt like I was a character in the book. That doesn’t happen to me very often. Words cannot describe the emotions that I felt reading this book. I was on a rollercoaster and I didn’t want off. There is so much detail you have to pay attention. I couldn’t put this book down at all. It’s one of those that you start before bedtime thinking you’ll be able to stop and put it down, but next thing you know it’s 5 a.m. and the sun is starting to peek through the blinds. This book is out of this world!
From the storyline, detail of the worlds and characters to the action that is packed onto the pages. It was hard to put this book down.
You follow many different characters through time and space that all have one thing in common, they hear a voice. From someone that doesn’t know much about the MultiVerse this story was a tad bit different for me to read. But it made me want to learn more so I would understand better.
Even though this story is detailed and very well written, you need to pay attention to everything. Which makes you want to read it again. Plus, there is a guide of characters at the beginning of the book just in case you forget someone! That helped a ton.
