This is the second book in the the Journeys Through series by James Talisman but it could definitely be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed this latest addition in the series more than the first and couldn’t put it down. The time travel parts were really interesting and engaging, and I really enjoyed the development of the characters from the previous book. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

Effacement by Hieronymus Hawke is a very intriguing and thought-provoking story- a bit of a techno thriller with dystopian, sci-fi, and cyberpunk elements that gave this story a bit of an edge.
It has a futuristic feel- but it’s not so far removed from our ‘reality’ in so far that it had me believing that we could well be headed in this direction ourselves. It certainly gave me pause for thought- which added a few ‘chills’ to the story along the way.
Society has embraced technology to the point that everyone has a ‘neurchip’ implant that interfaces with every aspect of people’s lives. A person’s daily life can’t operate fully without one. From recording lifelogs, banking, purchases, and healthcare, to simply catching a cab- the neurochip facilitates it all. But when a series of deaths are linked to the neurochips, it places the company responsible for revolutionising the world with the neurochip, firmly in the spotlight. Cole Westbay, the leading scientist in the chip’s development is assigned the investigation to clear the company’s name. A task that becomes that much harder when he is attacked and his own neurochip is destroyed. What happens makes for a captivating read!
There is a lot going on in the story, but the author choreographs all the elements quite cleverly. There are times, though, that the story gets a bit ‘wordy’ which disrupted the flow a little for me- but that was a minor issue and didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.
Looking forward to exploring more of Hieronymus Hawkes’ work…

Thank you, Hieronymus Hawkes!

I enjoyed Journeys Through Timespace as much as I enjoyed book 1. This being not my typical genre, I was worried going outside of my comfort zone. I’m still glad I did. I really enjoy the back stories of the characters; it helps you understand and feel like you personally know them. The way the Journeys Through series is written is unique. I don’t think I have read anything quite like this. There are still a lot of characters, but James Talisman makes it easy to keep who is who straight. I love how book 2 advances the story of the characters. I’m excited for the rest of the series to be released.

Journeys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman is the first installment in James’s Journeys Through series.

As a reader who does not often read sci-fi, I, actually, really enjoyed this book. Although there are quite a few characters and different points of view to follow at the beginning and it is a bit confusing, I enjoyed the character building and how it kept my attention and, in the end, all came together.
The story had a very interesting plot and I enjoyed how the author brought all the characters together.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read the second installment Journeys Through TimeSpace.

This is a great follow-up to Journeys through SpaceTime. Talisman’s level of detail, and ability to make connections in these works is incredible. It must have taken him so long to map this work out! Sci-Fi lovers will revel in the twists and turns this book takes, and the painstakingly drawn characters we get to know. With such a large cast of characters, I don’t know how he manages to create such distinct voices.

I think I enjoyed this 2nd book even more than Book 1. It took me awhile to get my head around the multitude of characters, themes, and overlaps in the first one. This time ’round, I had an *idea* what to expect, and I could sit back and enjoy it more. Well done!

This book picked up where the first ended. The special trio has to save the world but before they can do that, there is still training to be done. Travelling to Nepal, they trek on foot to a hidden place deep in a valley. It is a place of higher learning and some may call magic. Continuing their education in the All That Is, they learn that they can do incredible things. To gather the pieces they need to save the world, they must travel through time. Their adventures are fraught with danger and perilous tasks. With evil lurking on the horizon, can Michael, Julie and Dan accomplish their goals to save all of mankind?

I enjoyed this book better than the first. There were less characters therefore the author was able to concentrate more on the story. The story is interesting and unique. Fans of sci/fi and Dr. Who will love this book. I do recommend that you read the first part to fully comprehend this book.

Effacement by Hieronymus Hawkes – Review by Allyson Ware

Talk about a realistic novel. Hieronymus Hawkes leads you into the future of technology. It may be fiction, but the conspiracy theories that could be discussed based off of this book are infinite. The way technology is being ingrained into our daily lives forces us to rely on it , which is exactly what Cole experiences when he is attacked and his lifelog is destroyed.

Effacement, according to the government is punishable by law. “Not having a lifelog,” is how effacement is defined. So what is a lifelog? A lifelog is a chip that is inserted into the back of your head, and keeps track of your everyday life. It also keeps you connected to everything from the internet to your insurance. Nothing can be done in your daily life without your lifelog, which I suppose is why law writers decided to enforce punishment.

When Cole is attacked, his life is turned upside down. Not only is he arrested for being attacked and his lifelog being destroyed, but his fiancé assists in the attack. Forced to start his life over, Cole finds help in the most unlikely of places, and learns that he cannot trust those that he originally would have put his life on the line for.

Cole goes from a monotonous life to one filled with adventure and suspense. From worrying about when he will marry the woman he has spent five years engaged to, to worrying about how long he may or may not spend in jail/prison. The author has you on the edge of each page, waiting to find out what happens next to Cole. A novel I would recommend to any science fiction fan.

I had a hard time reading this story because of the jump between characters, however this is just a personal preference. The details that the author included with each character’s story was amazing, and therefore I still gave this book 5 stars. I really loved the characters Queen Neferities and Thoran. However, I was able to predict how things were going to turn out with them and her brother. I can’t wait to read the 2nd story, because I am also eager to see what happens with Matt, Julia, and Dan’s story.

This is a new author for me which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more in the future. This is a science fiction thriller that pulled me in from the first word. Cole is the creator of a neurochip but now his company has been accused of multiple deaths. He is now faced with saving his company and finding the real killer before he ends up a victim himself. The characters are strong, great, well rounded characters that brought the story to life. I had no problems connecting with them. Cole is my favorite and his determination was great to see. This is full of action and was easy to read. I enjoyed the twist and turns as well and how they kept me turning pages. I really enjoyed this story and what Cole brought to the story. This is worth the pick up and I highly recommend this book.

Effacement by Hieronymus Hawkes is a sci-fi thriller that is an amazing book to read.

The development of the neurochip necessitates that everyone keeps a lifelog of their activities. Without one, you can’t acquire insurance, create a bank account, or work. Surveillance has grown commonplace in the United States, and the government is cracking down. Dr. Cole Westbay has been a major factor behind BioNarratus, the company behind the world-changing neurochip. Cole examines his firm when it is accused of being involved in a string of recent fatalities. Instead, he is assaulted, his neurochip damaged, and he has no recollection of recent events.

In the course of figuring out who is behind his attack, he loses faith in everyone he cares about and is forced to rely on a gang of strangers who live off the grid. As he reassembles his life, he discovers that he is the target of every news organization in North America and the central figure in a government cover-up. Can he stop them from killing more innocent people before they permanently silence him?

I loved this story and the concept of it as well. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book that I have read from this author, I cant wait to read more.

This was a really good book. It was gripping and a real page tuner but at the same time really quite scary. With today’s society and modern technology you can actually imagine a world like this where people all have chips in their head that controls everything from turning on their TV, speaking to people without actually talking and even being able to administer medication to themselves. The chip also is a recording device that records a person’s actions 24/7, 365 days.

So what happens when the chips start to fail? When people start dying with these chips it’s Cole job to find out why. Is it something to do with someone messing with the chips so that Coles company gets bad reputation or is it simply a bad batch of patches.

Cole thinks he’s found a link, however his life is turned upside down when he is drugged and his own chip removed. Now alone with no aid in this technological world Cole needs to learn who he can and can’t trust as well as learning to live and face the reality of real life not a virtual one.
While on his journey to find out and remember what happened to him it is also a race against time. Can he figure everything out or will he be silenced by the people trying to destroy everything Cole and the Company have created.

Journey Through Time Space by James Talisman is another amazing book! This one is soooo much better than the first one and I did not think it was possible. The characters are so well developed which makes it possible to fall in love with the characters and to truly feel their plights and journeys. I so appreciated the metaphysical journey each character went through but especially Julia and Matt. I highlighted several passages as they rang with much truth that spoke to my soul. The Seat-of-Power described so perfectly the energy that one can harness and use for the best of intentions. “There are seven important principles that embody all of creation. These powerful truths are available to be learned and used by anyone.” Powerful statement! I found myself reading the truths and comparing my journey as to where I am in my journey and what to look forward to. Can I just say that reading the book has expanded my own discovery of self and the magic and power within me? We are truly all connected through time and space. I loved that this book picked up right from the ending of the first in the book and I was absolutely amazed at the ending (no spoilers here). Do yourself a favor and read this book! I have read other books on spiritual journeys, metaphysical ideas, and the outer connectedness that we all are a part of, but this book really delves into al these topics but within a superb story that makes it understandable and provides the desire within to delve deeper into myself and my powers. Read this book! Set your intentions, connect to the source of All-That-Is, and tap into your Higher Self for guidance, love, and the magic which resides in all of us. The power is within you.

The second installment by James Talisman is a fantasy masterpiece. It starts you off in the middle of the action where the first book ended and keeps you yearning for more. It draws you in to want to keep reading just to find out what happens next.
It continues following the journey of the three young college students who were destined to find each other and complete this journey to discover their higher destiny. Will they be able to master their gifts and complete their predetermined destiny? On the opposite side is a secret group that serves master Hades and yet for some reason in this book his followers are not able to communicate with him. But then a new character comes into play that serves to take Hades’ place. In this new storytelling of good versus evil who will prevail? Will this new character bring success or destruction?
I am not usually a science fiction fan but the character development and story telling in this book drew me in right from page 1. I just had to keep reading to find out what happens next and if you’re interested in a new read then I encourage you to take this journey too.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is Book #2 in the “Journeys Through TimeSpace” series. It would be extremely helpful to read Book #1 to establish the identities and backstories of the characters in this book, b/c Book #2 picks up right where Book #1 left off.
Matt, Julia, and Dan are young people recruited to the Lighthouse Collective, for whom Matt’s parents also work. Matt is suspected to have great potential, with the correct training, which he will receive in Nepal. So the threesome set out for Nepal. Matt’s parents are involved in the effort to protect the Earth from possible invasion by others in the Multiverse. We also are re-introduced the Disciples of Hades and their member, Thomas Halloway IV, and the reptilian humanoids from elsewhere in the Multiverse.
Will the groups make strange bedfellows to defend the Earth from the alien invaders? Will Matt learn enough in time to save the Earth? Read it and see. I’ll rate it three stars, b/c the sex scenes are a bit graphic for me and some of the language used by the author doesn’t seem to match the situation, eg feeling informal when it should be more formal for the scene. If you like imaginative world building, or if you like the “Back to the Future” movie series, you may like this story.

James Talisman took this non Sci/fi reader with his first book and turned her into a fan. He further developed that with yet another fantastic, creative adventure in Journeys Through TimeSpace. This author is a truly creative and talented writer who makes you feel apart of the journey taken in the book, each and every step of the way.
I have tried to write this review multiple times today, not because I disliked the book, truthfully I love it but because each time I felt like I was giving too much of the story away. I was just raving on way too much! So instead I will just say, if you love creative writing with wonderful characters, vivid worlds, action, time travelling and of course a multiverse then get reading this book NOW!!!! seriously get reading NOW!!!!

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Hansini Wasalamudalige

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘Journeys Through SpaceTime’ by James Talisman marks the first entry of his ‘Journeys Through…’ series and follows six protagonists across different realms in the MultiVerse as they’re all suddenly called to action by a mysterious force against an all-encompassing evil. Talisman’s passion bleeds through the pages- there is evident love channelled into each and every one of his characters, themes and particularly, worlds. The world-building in ‘Journeys Through Spacetime’ is by far its greatest strength. As the book takes place across the literal MultiVerse, there is a tall-order on the author to ensure that the logic of their universes are consistent and to craft worlds that stretch the limits of human imagination, given that essentially anything is possible. Talisman, however, does not fail to deliver in this department- each of the realms that the six protagonists hail from are unique with different social structures and norms and are interesting and engaging to read about. There is just enough familiarity to these worlds for readers not to feel out of their depth or lost but not too much so as to quash the distinct spark that each of them has and to lose the audience’s interest. Since the book juggles multiple, it was always a treat to plunge to each of these realms- each chapter or segment serving as a nugget into the life and times of the outlined societies and their inhabitants.

Talisman also uses the book as a vehicle to disseminate ancient, esoteric wisdoms and traditions. It is shaded with considerable philosophical nuance and blended with deep, thought-provoking concepts of the collective and connected consciousness and ideas of one within many. It is clear that Talisman has taken a great deal of care into researching these notions- notions that are woven into the story’s fabric seamlessly and in a manner that isn’t jarring or doesn’t take the reader out of the story. Drawing wisdoms and customs from multiple sources, Talisman has truly designed something one-of-a-kind as building blocks to construct an unparalleled, extraordinary story that has all the strangeness, bizarreness and ingenuity one would expect of a tale spanning the MultiVerse.

Trying to write a good protagonist is no easy feat, let alone six, and yet Talisman manages to do this also. Like the worlds they come from, each of the main characters are different and distinct with their own histories, motives and personalities. There is no weak link in the colourful cast- you never feel cheated when you switch and suddenly begin to follow another because they’re all fascinating in their own right. The hero’s journey is hard enough to properly do once, but it somehow is written multiple times in relation to each of the protagonists in a way that doesn’t feel repetitive or stale. You feel the emotions along with the characters- riding their highs and successes and slumming it with them as they hit their lows and failures.

In conclusion, if you’re in the mood for compelling characters all connected by a single thread as they’re dragged into an adventure spanning space and time, then ‘Journeys Through SpaceTime’ is the book for you.

Journeys Through TimeSpace by James Talisman was an exciting read as we follow Matthew, Julia, and Dan, in their attempt to save the world. I enjoyed this second book much more than I did the first. It was evident that James found the writing style that fit this book. I enjoyed following the different adventures between Matt, Julia, and Dan and their growth to learn their new abilities. I found that much of the book revolved around these three and their travels, I wish there was more character development in some of the other key players. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys scifi as well as mystery and adventure. I also recommend reading the first book to find out who the characters are and their importance.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book took me roughly 2 weeks to read and I really did enjoy the overall story and diverse worlds and characters portrayed. The MultiVerse in this book encompassed stories from some interesting and very diverse worlds including but not limited to reptilian humanoids set on destruction, unlikely human heroes and celestial beings with concepts based on real physics and ideology w/ the fantastic twist we all love from a good sci-fi novel.

I found the characters to be sincerely likeable and relatable which is a feat seeing as most of the worlds are very diverse from our own reality. Strangely enough, the characters I had the hardest time getting behind and liking were the Earth characters. They seemed too formal and rigid for modern day college kids. The relationship between Matt and Julia (how many times can two people say the word ‘babe’ – too many!) just seemed overly formal and forced.

I enjoyed how the many worlds and scenarios all connect on some level and the ending was a good one, which is really important to me. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and expect I’ll enjoy that one just as much. Really interested to see how it all shakes out and what the culmination of the myriad of stories will look like.

I’d rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The stories were great, it’s just the rigid Earthlings that threw it off a little for me. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a good quick sci-fi read that’s multifaceted and complex but still allows for easy and enjoyable reading. I would recommend getting to know the characters a bit ahead of time. The author does a great job of providing lists of the worlds and characters at the beginning of the book which is super helpful because it can get confusing if you just jump right in without a good overview of what it is you’re diving into.

Will they be able to crush the plans and save the world as we know it? you will have to find out.

This is the second book in this series and does not disappoint, this books picks straight from the first book and looks at trying to stop the plans which are due to take place. Each earth student needs to go to their different realms to try and help to save the multi realities. Can they stop the plans and be successful in their journeys, you will have to read to find out.

This story is full of thrilling and twists and will have you drawn in from the first words on the page. I would recommend reading the first book as there is a lot information which if you are coming into fresh into this book may have you a tough time following but stay with them as it is a brilliant ride in your imagination.

This is not my usual genre to read but the author has built a world of pure imagination and what ifs that has you engaged from the beginning, I have to say as in the first book there is a lot of information to digest but this only enhances the story and the characters within the story.

Can’t wait to read more.

Hieronymus had a rather idyllic childhood, growing up in the woods of West Virginia. He spent most of his time outside as a kid, playing sports usually, basketball, whiffle-ball, and a lot of two-hand touch football, among many other things. He loved to draw and read, science fiction mostly, when he wasn’t playing sports or board games.

He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a degree in Economics, then went on to a thirty-year career as an Air Force pilot, where he got to travel all over the globe.

He was married for twenty-eight years before losing his wife to breast cancer, but he is the father of four grown children.

In June of 2015 he completed an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University. It took him a long time to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. Effacement is his debut novel.

When he’s not writing, he is probably listening to music, reading, or surfing the web. He also draws in pencil and pastel chalk and enjoys a good poker game.

As a huge fan of sci-fi, I really loves this book. Set between multiple characters, it can be hard to follow at times and to find the major connection between them. The end product was incredible and makes those connections apparent. I took one star off because I felt there could have been less characters or the flow between them could have been better. I also was thrown by the fact that very few contractions were used, making the dialogue kind of stunted. Overall I really did enjoy this book and am looking forward to reading the next installment now that I know the connections.

James Talisman delivers another great read in the second book in the Journeys Through series, Journey Through TimeSpace! As in the first book, the book is spread throughout the MultiVerse, though focusing on less characters this time around made it a much easier read. I also loved being able to watch some of the characters from the previous novel develop more, making me enjoy the novel even more than the previous one. It is the perfect novel for any SciFi lover or Marvel lover, containing adventures through space, time travel, and a cliffhanger at the end that makes the reader know that there is much more to come! Journeys Through SpaceTime is a complex and intricately woven web of many different worlds/dimensions and therefore, characters. I had a difficult time in the beginning remembering who was who, and keeping up with all the diverse characters, each with their own unique personalities, lives, thoughts, and even worlds at times. It almost is reminiscent of Game of Thrones, in the writing style and the way it follows multiple timelines, simultaneously. I was curious how the author would be able to bring all these diverse characters together, to make it blend seamlessly and not feel awkward, and found I was enjoying THAT mystery as much as the book itself! Not a light read for the average reader, but I found myself indulged and wanting to know what happened next, and to who! I was pleasantly surprised, as Sci-Fi is not my typical choice of genre, and cannot wait to dive into part two, Journeys Through TimeSpace! I think this one deserves a 5 star, it is not easy to have so many complex personalities that are so well written!

I will say when I heard of this book I did a serious excited squeal. I was and am a huge fan of the first in the series. I am a person who will try any genre, but when I read fantasy or sci fi I am going to my inner roots, yes I am a nerd and geek and I am proud of it. Needless to say these books by this author always go deep in my inner interests of my heart and seriously love this series!

This novel was the second installment of the series the author has written. Needless to say there is no disappointment what so ever to be given to ourselves as the readers! The author wrote an amazing first book and this one only continued the same effects and feelings one can get from reading the prior.

For me what I loved a lot on this book is not just the action and quick pace the story brings you and the strong want to know what will happen to our beloved characters, but I loved the details the author gives us of the multi verse universe the story unfolds upon. As I rea through this one, for me the first one gave life lessons I found and made me think of certain things of the reality of which we live in. This one did the same, doing some things we can not just assume we will not pay a price will we?

The intriguing side of this story that it focused around two teams. One that was put together that had to find a treasure that was this special stone that could very well possibly destroy everything along with life as we know it. A note for me to add is that this team was not hunting on Earth.

Now on Earth, we have another team that was put together. This team on Earth was searching for a special crystal that was in shattered pieces and may be ones hope to save the world from total chaos and destruction. As well as very well being a chance for humanity and Earth to survive as we are now.

As the story progressed of course the teams interact and meet along the way. Honestly when the teams basically interact to me that was the biggest point in the story. I personally hooked in that sheer moment of disbelief and had to continue reading. I could not literally put this book down and once again this author has helped add a novel to my bookshelf of favorite books.

This book in itself was very quick and action packed. It was so easy to comprehend and understand know the characters in who which they were. And who was good and who was more of a bad character sort to say. The author has true kill how to hook his readers and keep them reading as well guessing till the last second of what decisions will bring forth. And what the general morale of the characters bring to impact upon the readers, I personally loved that aspect. The author is talented and writes a story I believe anyone who reads this can enjoy. I m a nerd yes, but I have already told friends of the first novel that are not into sci fi genre and a few got back to me they really enjoyed it. Needless to say I will be doing the same with this installment of the series!

Again loved this book. Loved the writing technique and the detail the author brings to characters. I loved the universe parallels as well. Needless to add, the action packed part of it really kept you on the edge of your couch or seat and to keep reading to see what actions would bring forth next! I am really enjoying reading the books by this author and I will most certainly continue to do so in the future!

This book was so good! I was so excited to read this after having read the first one! It definitely did not disappoint! The creativity and world building were just as captivating as the first book! The growth of the characters was realistic without losing the complexity that endeared them to me in the first place. The artifacts and the journeys to find them were so original and I wanted to go with them to see everything!

I really enjoyed reading the second book in this series! I felt like it was non-stop action the whole time!

The transitions are well written as the characters travel through time and space. I felt like I was right there with them experiencing it at the same time. I felt the characters’ relationships grow deeper and stronger as they try to save the world, too. The last couple of twists were unexpected but they also brought the whole story almost full circle with the first book.

Happily, I expect a third book or at least a prequel telling Matt’s story?!?
