Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Alexandra Leith
Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Caine is book two of the Men of Syn Series. It can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading Hawke (book one) first because it is amazing and it would help explain some things that could be a little confusing from book two if the reader hadn’t read book one yet.
I was so excited to read Caine because I loved Hawke and it did not disappoint! It is a romantic suspense just like book one but the storyline of the suspense is different. Caine is on the run from Washington DC because he has been accused of murdering his father and Emery loses her princess lifestyle that was provided by her father because he got caught up in a scandal. Both are just trying to survive and they end up finding eachother.
I was the most intrigued with seeing Emery grow into herself. She was pretty shallow and in some ways sheltered from the “real world” because her dad never let her want for anything. However, when the real world came barging into her life and ripped everything away from her she was able to grow into an amazing lead character.
The only downside is that for a book revolving around a BDSM club there isn’t many BDSM scenes. There is steam for sure but not really as much as you’d expect.
