Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Alexandra Leith

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2)Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caine is book two of the Men of Syn Series. It can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading Hawke (book one) first because it is amazing and it would help explain some things that could be a little confusing from book two if the reader hadn’t read book one yet.

I was so excited to read Caine because I loved Hawke and it did not disappoint! It is a romantic suspense just like book one but the storyline of the suspense is different. Caine is on the run from Washington DC because he has been accused of murdering his father and Emery loses her princess lifestyle that was provided by her father because he got caught up in a scandal. Both are just trying to survive and they end up finding eachother.

I was the most intrigued with seeing Emery grow into herself. She was pretty shallow and in some ways sheltered from the “real world” because her dad never let her want for anything. However, when the real world came barging into her life and ripped everything away from her she was able to grow into an amazing lead character.

The only downside is that for a book revolving around a BDSM club there isn’t many BDSM scenes. There is steam for sure but not really as much as you’d expect.

Romancing the Tropics (A Tropical Cocktail Romance Boxset) by L.M. Mountford – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance)Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Romancing the Tropics is a steamy short read with 2 stories. The 1st story “Tequila Sunset” is a older man, younger woman steamy fling. Cassie is getting over a breakup with her boyfriend and spending time with her best friend at her dad’s house. Things get very steamy quickly when both Cassie and David (Cassie’s best friends dad) get some alone time. The 2nd story “Beneath The Sheets” is about Alex and Sarah, whom are best friends. When Alex breaks up with his girlfriend, he decides to hop on a plane to Australia to see Sarah, whom he loved since high school. Alex and Sarah rekindle their romance when they see each other again. Both stories were very good, and I really enjoyed them.

These two stories were quick reads.

The first story, Tequila Sunset, is a best-friend’s dad story. Cassandra is enjoying a getaway off the Spanish coast after her latest boyfriend dumped her for being “boring”. Her best friend booked the tickets as soon as she heard what happened. The only other person at the house is her best friend’s dad, David. Cassandra has always thought David was hot…but she couldn’t possibly act on it…right?

David is enjoying his vacation home while he tries to overcome the writer’s block that seems to have taken up residence in his mind. His daughter and her friend are also at the house. He finds himself spending some extra time staring at how beautiful Cassandra has grown up to be. When his daughter goes out shopping, and he finds himself alone with Cassandra, it’s the perfect time to see if what he is feeling is mutual. When sparks fly between these two…there is no stopping them!

The second story, Beneath the Sheets, is a rekindling story. Alex is returning home to visit his friend Sarah after she reaches out to him after over 5 years of nothing. He doesn’t know why she upped and disappeared years ago…but he is determined to find out! However, the shy and baggy-clothed Sarah he knew from the past is gone. In her place is a beautiful and confident woman who he finds extremely attractive.

Sarah reaches out to David on a drunken whim (encouraged by a friend, of course). When David shows up not too long after…she knows she needs to tell him the truth. There is more to it than her just walking away after Prom. But, now that David’s back, so are her feelings that she has harbored for years. What happens if they act on their mutual attraction?

Both stories were good and I enjoyed them. They are definitely on the erotic side…so if that’s not your jam then be forewarned. I would definitely read books by this author again!

My Soul to Give (A Demon’s Love Book 1) by M. A. Fréchette is a perfect dark, paranormal romance. I was obsessed with the cover of this book as well as the synopsis and just knew that I had to read it and I was not disappointed. With a few religious undertones, romance, suspense, and so much more you’ll be hooked from chapter one and won’t be able to put it down until you’ve finished. This book has so many twists and turns that no reader could possibly guess what’s going to happen next and that just added to this books perfection. All I can really say about this book is wow, the characters are fantastic, the plot is flawless, and the overall story is fantastic. So if your like me and you need a great paranormal romance to read then I highly recommend My Soul to Give (A Demon’s Love Book 1) by M. A. Fréchette.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5/5 Stars

Caine (Men of Syn #2) by Anise Storm

This is the second book I’ve read by Storm. It’s also the second book in the Men of Syn Series. You’ll meet Emery and Caine.

Emery has always relied on her dad to support her. When he is arrested everything she has is now gone. She goes to Syn looking for a place to stay, but finds her Dom. The quote I chose for Emery is: “It wasn’t too bad. Chad and I made a ton of tips.”

Caine has left D.C. because he is wanted for murdering his father. He didn’t do it although he had evidence of him threatening his father. When he meets Emery he tries not falling for her, but he does. The quote I chose for Caine is: “Keep them right here and I’ll show you exactly how glad I am.”

Highly recommended for Erotica Romance lovers.

Return to Alpha by Wesley Britton – Review by Michelle Downing

Return To Alpha: A new saga beginsReturn To Alpha: A new saga begins by Wesley Britton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dystopian Sci-Fi
This was a very interesting story. I have recently been a big fan of dystopian books, as we’re at a point in this world where everything feels so unsure. Add in some Sci-Fi, Stargate-ish stuff and you’ve got me hooked.
I enjoyed the different aspects of the multiverse used in this book. I felt the characters were well written, though I would have liked to know more about some of the secondary characters. The story was mostly fast paced, a little wordy at unnecessary times.
I hadn’t realized this was a spin-off series, but I will be checking out that series. I hope this series will be continued, as I feel the future of these characters could be interesting to read.

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out is the first book in Amy McKinley’s Mafia Elite series. I’ve really enjoyed reading some of McKinley’s other books – the action romance series Gray Ghost and the romantic Moonlit Destination series – so was excited about a new series to get into!
No Way Out is an action-packed page-turner from the word go. Max has been set a dangerous mission, and one that speaks to his own troubled past. He has to maintain his new identity to get close to his target, and avoid attracting too much attention. McKinley treats us to plenty of details along the way, whilst keeping some twists to drop later in the book.
As usual in McKinley’s writing, we have a fantastic heroine in Liliana. Although often in need of a bit of rescuing, McKinley’s heroines always hold their own and bring something unique to the table. Liliana has much to come to terms with about her family and Max is well placed to help her if she can trust him, but understandably she is very careful about where she places her trust.
I’ve not read much mafia fiction previously, so this was a great insight into the world. If you’ve enjoyed McKinley’s other action romances, or are a fan of mafia romance, this is definitely worth a read!
This book gets five stars from me. I can’t wait to read more of the series when they come out.

Code Name: Vulture (The Order of the Condor Series Book 1) by Maya Daniels and Sylvia Black- Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance (The Order of the Condor Series Book 1)Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance by Maya Daniels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Code Name: Vulture is the first book in a new series about a woman, Danielle, who is a curator of a museum. The story starts at an auction where she is “guaranteed” to obtain an ancient artifact that holds many secrets. What she doesn’t realize is she is not the only one after this particular artifact. After being outbid, she obsesses about losing the artifact to some stranger. What she doesn’t know is that he will not be a stranger for long, but her mate. I really enjoyed this first book. As someone who loves dark vampire romances, it did not disappoint. While I did think that it started a little slow and confusing, I was able to catch up pretty quickly. Once I was a couple chapters in, I was hooked. Now, there are a lot of these types of novels, so I am always looking for a different point of view. I think the author did really well with bringing a new aspect to the stories we have heard in so many different ways. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Fight for it by Amy L Gale – Review by Karyn Taylor

Fight for It (Sunset Cove)Fight for It by Amy L. Gale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fight For It is a great novella by Amy L Gale. This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work but I’m sure I will read more as I really enjoyed Fight For It.
Although this book is only 108 pages the author manages to pack a great deal of content into this short book. I devoured this book in one sitting, not wanting to put it down until I got to the end.
I really loved Ray and Alyssa’s story. I thought at first that this was going to be the typical best friend’s little sister story but it was far from it and that made it all the more enjoyable.
As much as I loved both of Ray and Alyssa’s characters there were times that I really wanted to smack Ray on the head an knock some sense into him.
If you want a quick read that will keep you engaged then Fight For It is the book for you.

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Karyn Taylor

Caine (Men of Syn, #2)Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caine is the 2nd book in the Men of Syn series by Anise Storm. It is a great opposites attract contemporary romance novel. I had thoroughly enjoyed ‘Hawke’, the first book in the series and was looking forward to reading more of the men of syn. I can say that I enjoyed this book even more than the first one.
Caine is on the run, suspected of murdering his father. What he doesn’t expect is Emery Wilder, a spoiled princess who has everything given to her by daddy.
When Emery’s world crashes in on her, it is Caine who comes to the rescue, showing a very different character from the one he likes to portray.
I really enjoyed reading Emery and Caine’s story. You couldn’t get two people who are more different, yet they just make sense together.
This story had me gripped from the very beginning and kept me entertained and engaged throughout the whole book. The story is well written and flows very well and you just want to keep on reading more about this couple.
100% recommend.

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Kerry Carr

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great start to the series. I love Mafia romances and this one is definately a great one. The story was easy to read. Some Mafia stories can get confusing with the different families  but the author makes the families easy to follow. Liliana is an amazing character. I love her fighting spirit and how strong and determined she is to save herself. Max is your typical alpha who is out to regain what was taken away from him by destroying the people in his way and protecting the people he loves.

Liliana is the daughter of the Mafia boss Benito. Even though she looks and acts like a proper Mafia princess the reality is much different. All she is to her father is a possession, something he can use to get what he wants out of life. Liliana  is desperate to leave and get out from under her father’s rule but her only hope is to change one guilded  cage for another by marrying someone her father chooses.

Max has been sent in undercover by Liliana’s grandfather. His mission is to get Liliana away from her father and keep her safe. Hopefully taking down her dad’s drug business in the process so that he can regain what should be rightfully his. What Max didn’t expect was to fall for the Mafia princess. Now he had a problem can he keep his cool and stop himself from showing his feelings while at the same time protecting her from danger? Or will his cover be blown resulting in putting himself and Lilian in danger.

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm
4 Stars

After reading and loving book one, I had high expectations for this book. I was not disappointed. This book is HOT! It will take you on a thrilling ride that will leave you breathless. This is Caine and Emery’s story. Emery is a high maintenance socialite and Caine is from the wrong side of the tracks. Under normal circumstances, their paths would never have crossed. Fate had a different idea. He’s on the run fir a crime he didn’t commit. Tragedy strikes and leaves Emery penniless. A chance meeting during a thunderstorm starts something that will change them both. When secrets are revealed, as they usually are, can these two forgive to have their happily ever after?

Danger, intrigue and serious erotica. This story is exciting and will have you flipping the pages in record time. I think I loved this book better than the first. Hopefully the author will write book three.

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Shelly Kittell

Caine (Men of Syn, #2)Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my, is it HOT in here or is this a good book? Book 2 of the Syn series has Caine coming to Colorado to help out at Hawke’s club. He’s in trouble for his father’s death, which he didn’t do. He crosses paths with Emery, Charlotte’s best friend. Her father is in prison for drug trafficking. There’s a whole lot of drama going on, with a lot of action, a few twists and turns, and some spicy moments (18+ please). The author has an excellent way of engaging so that you just can’t put the book down. The characters actually sound like the people you might run into downtown when you go to Denver. It’s been a treat to read this series. I definitely recommend you get out and pick this one up. You’ll like it too.

Swindler’s Revenge
The Karina Cardinal Mysteries
Book 5
By Ellen Butler
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This is another story in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries. While this series could be read as standalones I recommend you read this series in order.
Karina Cardinal is at it again. This time it’s her ex boyfriend that is in trouble with the FBI. So she sets out to find the answers as well as the truth. Although jumping with both feet is never a good idea. She goes for it. Ex meaning she and Mike broke up months ago. That does not mean she does not care. Something is not right, she knows Mike would never take the money and disappear like this. So will Karina again save the day? Is Mike really who they say he is?

Ellen Butler has once again knocked the ball out of the park. This story is well written and a true laugh out loud mystery. But you know it has some of those heart stopping moments. I love the characters all with their own challenges. Karina makes this story run, but nothing better than helping an ex in trouble. I could not put this one down, I just had to finish as it was that captivating. Ellen Butler, you have once again given us the right feels! Well Done Ellen Butler! Well Done! !

I enjoyed this romance story. This is a well written story where the author used details to not only bring the story to life on each page but also gave it a realistic feel. This is a story about a woman who has wanted a promotion for a while. She moves to a new town for this promotion only to run into some problems with things like snakes, going in a ditch and the mechanic that she never expected. What will fate have in store for these two? Will she keep her mind on her job while falling for this mechanic? I enjoyed being pulled into the story by these two. They have great chemistry as well as great growth throughout the story. They made up the story for me and they were cute together. I found this book to be fast paced and engaging. I had a hard time putting this book down. It was entertaining and fun. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this romance story. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to help your enhancement of not only the story but the characters as well. You will see where Cassie and Diego have been compared to where they are now. This is a well written romance story that has characters that are not only relatable but also written with a lot of heart. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters and their growth throughout is great. They made the story engaging and I enjoyed how they brought the story to life. In this story there are life challenges that both of these characters are in. But will fate allow them to get through to be together in the end? Their challenges are a lot of pressure but will they crack these two? I really did enjoy what they brought to the story. They made it fun and entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is the first book in a new series and what a great start it is. This is a well written story about Poppy whose father is in prison for killing her boyfriend. When a stranger shows up at her door, her world starts to come down. Someone is watching her but who? Will she be the one to go down with blood on her hands? I loved her character and what she brought to the story. I found this story to be fast paced and full of action. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see who was lurking in the shadows. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings for Poppy. Gone Country by Katrina Marie a delightfully charming four-star read. This could have been a five-star read, and I had high hopes for it, I am hoping that the next one will knock it over the edge. This took a while to warm up to and get into, Stella I got as I am also clumsy and have some shocking luck, but other parts left me cold. But by the end of the story, her and Johnny give you the warm and fuzzies. It has a good story, once you get to the meat of it, so I would say keep going if you start and wonder what is going on.

I really enjoyed this story. It was exciting and captivating from the first page to the last. I loved the romance element. How two people fall in love when they really shouldn’t. The author does an amazing job bring the characters to life. Princess Rowan is a great character. I like her because she is headstrong and very strong willed. She has a great sense of humour which comes through the pages.

Princess Rowan is a risk taker and when she takes a risk, her and her cousin end up getting captured by a rival clan. Now facing the realisation that she may lose her life she plans to enjoy the time she has left. What she doesn’t expect is to fall on love with a man from this rival clan.

Unable to deny their feelings they have some problems to cover come. Namely will this clan ever accept Rowan as one of their own or will the union between the couple start off another war between both sides  or could it finally be the things to bring the sides together and for peace?

A Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly is a contemporary romance story. In true Tammy style her stories are sweet and heart-warming, but they are not just hearts and flowers. Where would be the fun in that. Nope Tammy likes to throw some sort of twist to add some dimension to the story. There is some tension and angst, a bit of drama and some danger. Tammy makes it easy to be transported into the story she has created and enjoy the journey and lives of these lovable characters. I love a good romance story and that is something Tammy does well.

Stunning intensity, thrilling danger, passionate liaisons are just the beginning. These characters possessed strength, courage, determination, energy and heart. This story packed all the adventure you could handle in a romantic and suspenseful story. Amy is a character that I really want to be when I grow up. She brought an enviable tenacity that was incredibly entertaining. Hugh I loved learning about. So far from a stereotype, it isn’t even funny. Over all, this story was a pleasure to read, giving never ending mystery and excitement. Every emotion in overdrive, and I could not get enough. A thrilling story by a very descriptive and talented author. 4 stars.

Drew by Amanda Shelley – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

I’ve read so many sports romances over time and this is probably one of my favorites. It was kind of cool to see the name of a town that is near me that hardly ever gets mentioned in books. Drew and Abby had great chemistry from the very beginning whether they wanted to admit it or not. For two people who could do without distractions they sure distracted each other quite a bit, lol. If the other book(s) in this series are anything like this one count me in to read them all!
