Reunion is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles by Jocelyn Lindsay. It labels itself as an over forty urban fantasy novel but that doesn’t do justice to the unique book found here. As highschoolers, Meg and her friends saved the world from apocalypse at great costs. Now, 25 years later they are midlife and mid-life when the unthinkable happens and it is time to save the world again. This book was a thrilling read with plenty of relatable situations even if you’re only edging on forty and not in charge of stopping evil forces.
A Tale of Two Crushes by Cori Cooper follows Holland as she enters a new school and discovers not one but two hot guys in a matter of days. Coming from a smaller town, Holland is not used to running into guys that she hasnt known since kindergarten and are interested in her. Things get complicated as she navigates life in a new city, new friends, and brothers?! This book was filled with quirky characters and a relatable heroine. I found it to be a pleasant afternoon read that was perfect for a clean romance.

Luca Magoo, Don’t Eat The Glue is such a fun and silly read! Luca is super into his art class but gets distracted by the glue and wonders what would happen if he ate it. This leads to some hilarious moments! The rhyming makes the story really catchy, and the colorful illustrations are so fun to look at. It’s a great way for kids to learn about self-control and making good choices without feeling like a lesson. Perfect for a funny read with kids who love art and goofing around!
Cam Creates a Hero is such a heartwarming book! The story follows Cam, a foster kid, who builds a robot to protect children in need after seeing a sad news story. The illustrations are bright and colorful, bringing the story to life. It’s a perfect read for kids who need a little resilience boost and hope. I definitely recommend this one, it has a great message!
The Viper’s Bloodline: Awakened is the 5th book of the series, and having only read this one, I feel as if I can’t truly do the series justice. However, I will say that this was a very fun read. And though the beginning felt slow, to me, I feel this was mostly due to my not having read the first 4 books. If you enjoy a book full of drama and angst, I believe that this series would be a good recommendation. I’m considering going back to read the rest of the series, after which I would update my review. Really enjoyed it the dark fantasy aspect and the characters were fun to read, though I didn’t personally relate. The story would be really great for you get readers, but it was still very enjoyable.

“Fate, Frankincense, and Funerals” by Naomi Valkyrie is a paranormal romance which follows the ife changing experience of Acheron, a Vulture shifter who sees over the funeral rites of others, making his a pariah amongst the rest of society. One fateful day, he is tasked with a special request to leave the town he and his fellow Vulture shifters live to perform the rites for an unknown practitioner. While fighting an inner battle, Acheron managed to change his life, potentially changing the entire structure of their society through the power of acceptance and love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The fluff was adorable, and even the one spicy scene was incredibly sweet. Would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal fluff.

The author of this book is new to me. From the beginning, the story captured my interest. Trinity Redhawk always wanted to be a rodeo queen. But as a teen she had to give up many friendships and potential boyfriends. As she finds herself in her last year of being the rodeo queen, she’s looking forward to being a strong woman and finding a more normal life. The story is easy to read and follow. The author did a great job of world building and I could imagine the rodeo arena, the rodeo royalty, and spectators. I didn’t realize the book was part of a series. I had no problem following the story even if I didn’t know the names of all the characters.

Please make sure you read trigger warnings or look into trigger warnings. Your mental wellbeing is more important. As the cover says small town, and small town indeed. We have all driven through a small town in which we do not feel welcome. This is that story. This story is almost 400 pages as well. It kept my attention and made you physically tense. It also made me turn the light on that stands next to my bed.

Cam sees a girl in the hospital on TV and immediately feels guilt. He wants to do something to help her but is feeling helpless. His dream is to create a robot that would help kids in need all over. Cam finds that he can still help people in a more realistic way. This was a great story for kids about believing in yourself and your dreams.

I absolutely loved reading about Calla’s and Ash’s story. I read a Love and Fate first, and then came back to read Strings Attached. I loved reading the backstory of the sweet couple that you see periodically in that second book. Timing is not Ash’s and Calla’s thing. Every time they meet back up something is in the way. But they still work through them. I love how the connection between the two never fades but keeps getting stronger with each meet. But alas, pressures start to come in at all sides and they can only promise “right now” instead of “forever”. This was a mostly easygoing story and had great word and story building!
Man. this book was hard to read because of the constant rollercoaster. Just when you think it doesn’t get worse Loriana says hold my drink and takes you out at the knees. I had to keep a box of tissues because my heart hurt for Angie while she tried to process Sam’s death. I absolutely wanted the knock the crap out of Chelsea. She is the most vile character in this book. I feared for Ozzie’s safety multiple times. Angie’s son was pretty adorable. Watching these four try and navigate being a family together. I just wanted to take Tommy and just hug him and hide him from the writer because he goes through so much. I loved this story so much and it had just enough of reality mixed in with fiction that it was still relatable.

The Crown of Stones by C.L. Schneider is a Trilogy Box Set and happens to be a complete set of The Crown of Stones Series. In this series, we are introduced to Ian Troy, and he is the main character who is on a mission to try to solve the mystery of The Crown of Stones.
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price is the first book in series, and this book gives quite a bit of the back story of Ian Troy and the Shinree people. We quickly learn that the Shinree people are addicted to magic, and because of their addiction, they fall into being used as slaves. Ian unfortunately finds himself in a situation where he must use his magic again which causes him to fall into the trap of being addicted to the magic. Ian struggles as he finds that he has to accept the darkest parts of himself in order to be able to fight back and help his people. To me the world building in this was complex and extremely interesting. I felt that as the story developed there were times it gave me Lord of the Rings vibes. Ian is truly an interesting character, and I was very interested in his internal as well as external struggles that he faced. I truly think that this was a great book to start a series!
The Crown of Stones: Magic-Scars is the second book of The Crown of Stones series. Ian Troy, our main character is back and quite honestly a lot has already happened to him! Ian is beaten down and has found himself being held prisoner. There is a two-year space from after the end of the first book, to the beginning of this book. Ian is finding himself in a rather rare predicament and now has a lot of people looking to him for leadership. Ian doesn’t know how he feels about this position, and he finds that the stakes are higher! I felt that the author kept up with the same complex, in depth and quite honestly well-written characters from the first book! There were times that I felt more emotions while reading this book, especially when I found that Ian was faced with unexpected situations. I think that C.L. brought a great sequel to the first book!
Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne is the third book in The Crown of Stones series, and we find that Ian is full hiding due to quite a bit that has been going on in his life! The resistance has fallen, and Ian is trying to decide what is the best way to save his realm along with his people! Once again, C.L. has written a great sequel to the first and second book of the series, and I honestly was not one bit disappointed! I feel that C.L. kept the same emotional intensity that he did with the previous books. I really think that C.L. ended the series very well and that no important details were left out!
In this series, we are also given an unexpected surprise of a preview of the Soulbound Journey Series. In the first book, The Wandering Isles, we are following Ian and his journey to the Wandering Isles with his friend Jarryd Kane. Prior to arriving to the Isles, Ian and Jarryd believed them to be abandoned, but they quickly realized that this thought is far from the truth! They find out that they aren’t the only magical creatures around, and it puts them into a compromising situation! All I can tell you that much like The Crown of Stones series, this is a wonderful read! I don’t think you will be disappointed with any of C.L.’s books, this is a great author who puts so much emotion and detail into the stories being told!

Wow I can’t believe I have never read anything by Evias before! This book was absolutely amazing! Following Alice and friends while they navigate different parts of Parsa evoked almost a nostalgic feeling of being a teenager again! As someone who used to be in the archery club at my highschool it made me really happy that Alice was an archer. Evias is an author to for sure look out for! With wonderful characters and a solid fast paced plot The Discovery Of Magic pulls you into a world you don’t ever want to leave! I cannot wait for the second book!

What a fun and unique prequel! With only sixty-six pages this paranormal romance flew by. Acheron and Errapel deserve the happiest of ever afters and I hope Naomi Valkyrie expands on this intriguing world she’s created! Even though the book is short she includes tons of details and vivid imagery in her writing! I would love to and need to know more about Valkyrie’s amazing world!
I’m so happy that The Discoveries of Julia Xero got a book 2 and I finally got to read it! What an amazing main character! Following Julia through her perilous journey has kept me on the edge of my seat! Gloria Oliver has such a fun and engaging way of writing that makes you feel so close to the action! Here’s to hoping for a book 3 and more adventures with Ms Xero!

What do you get when you combine magic, a strong female lead and adventure? A masterpiece. Once I started this story I could not stop. Alice and her friends were very intriguing characters and you can tell the author put a lot of thought into each one. I enjoyed the different perspectives. I cannot wait for the second book.

This was an amazing story and I’m so glad that I had the pleasure to read it. This isn’t your typical rom com. It’s a bit more real. Del is hurting. Deep down pain, guilt and shame. She’s lost who she is trying to be who everyone wants her to be. She constantly snuffs out her own light. She is a widow who hasn’t gotten over her husband’s death and blames herself for it although it wasn’t her fault. She’s full of fear and anxiety. But she has a huge heart. She’s smart, resourceful and great at her job. Ben is more than the celebrity on screen and may be the perfect guy for her if she lets him in. Honestly the story couldn’t have ended any better. I highly recommend this book.

I was hooked from the beginning. The premise of fighting the ‘predator vs prey’ idea is transformed with this story of a bunny who decides to fight back. Unfortunately for her, societal norms dictate that prey is all that they are so Anastasia is cast out from her home. I think what makes this book more unique is the post-apocalyptic aspect to the story and the anthropomorphic quality to the animals as the main characters. The story itself is fast-paced and packed with thrills and adventure.

As advertised, this book gives five strategies to help college students become more productive. In this day and age where we are bombarded with distractions, this book was a lifesaver for me! We all struggle to stay on track when we first enter college and are hit with deadlines. This book provides students with relatable anecdotes as well as the five strategies that I feel really make the book relatable. This was a relatively quick read that was much easier to follow than most self-help books I’ve read.

Anxiously awaiting book 5!

Reunion is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles by Jocelyn Lindsay. As this appears to be the debut novel of Jocelyn Lindsay, I really didn’t know what I should expect from her writing, but the intriguing cover caught my eye, and the blurb held the promise of a great, supernatural, action-packed adventure- so I took a chance, snapped up a copy and dove right in. This definitely made me think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer having to deal with the Hellgate (Hellmouth) opening again, returning to town after decades away- but now she’s hit her midlife and is a bit of a lonely, cynical, and jaded mess. After closing the Hellgate decades earlier, Meg thought she was done with her hometown, but now things are stirring again, she returns to do what she does best, kickingbutt. But things are never quite that simple…. So, get set for an action- packed adventure where Meg deals with the paranormal, while grappling with some ‘real’ life challenges along the way. Looking forward to continuing the series. Happy Reading…

I have been seeing this series circulate my social media pages and book review group, but I thought that it wouldn’t be of interest to me because of the age group targeted, and myself not having anything experience wise to relate at all, but how wrong I was. I ended up picking up another Marika Ray Novel, and I loved it, so when I saw this book come up again I immediately wanted to read it. I now have to play catch up with book 1 and book 2. I started with book 3, and while there were references to previous books in the series and the characters were the same, the main characters were the focus of the story, I still would recommend reading the books in order, although I didn’t feel lost or anything, I definitely felt like I was missing out on vital information. Night Sweats and Hockey Mets has a few familiar tropes such as grumpy/sunshine, the ever popular hockey star, both parties fight their attraction, single dad needs a nanny, but also some fresher tropes as well like characters over 40, plus size and confident, etc. Between Nikos random Russian sayings, and Chloe’s confident flirting I found myself laughing out loud at the banter between the characters. I also found myself truly not enjoying Peyton and her attitude. This was a wonderful read, a fun, cozy romance, and you can’t go wrong with a Marika Ray novel and now I’ve been introduced to a new author, Sylvie Stewart, as well.

All of the books by this author include foster children and the things they can achieve if only given a chance. In Cam Creates a Hero he sees that not everyone is as fortunate as he is in finding his family, even going so far as to have been abused by their family. Cam wants to come up with a hero that can help anyone in need. After staying up all night Cam is disappointed in his and his siblings attempt to do this, so back to the drawing board he goes, and his perseverance pays off. It’s such a cute and inspiring story that will remind kids that compassion, courage, and perseverance really makes a difference. Having a hero will really help children navigate through the rough patches in their lives. The illustrations were well done and depicted the scenes beautifully. I appreciated the thought put into this book and the lessons it will teach.
Sarge, going deep is a science fiction adventure story of Lieutenant Commander T J Madison, also called Sarge. I have not read the book about Mission 3047, where he was first introduced. This book is more about his personal life, his struggles, his character and his ability to overcome all challenges. With his determination and perseverance, he became a Navy seal, falls in love with a woman, marries her, comes to US and becomes a part of the secret Agency and the person he shaped himself to be in the Mission 3047. I did struggle a bit to understand the context but overall was able to grasp the bigger picture. I enjoyed the book.

This is the 3rd book in the series. In this book we get to know Abby Whit who moved to Herd Montana to reclaim family land.
