Finding Juniper by Sadia Ash is the third book in the Juniper series. This is not a standalone read because it picks up where the last book left off. I am so excited to find out what happens with Juniper and Kyle. I do not want to give anything away but if you loved the rest of the series you won’t be let down. Juniper and Kyle are still different people and very stubborn and hard headed. The writing and story are wonderful and I fell into the book and did not want to put it down. One of the things I love about this series is the fact that Juniper is a history geek and Kyle is a tech geek. Though they are different they are both very intelligent and see the world differently. The level of detail and description allows you to form a story easily in your head. I look forward to reading more in the future from Sadia Ash.

PLAYER by Pamela DuMond is the first book in the 21st Century Courtesan series. The story follows Evie who works as a kindergarten teacher by day and an escort at night. I was not sure what to think before I started the book but was pleasantly surprised. Evie is a well developed character who has good reasons for the second job she holds. She has standards and is not a common prostitute. She meets Dylan, who she is attending poker events with as a lucky charm. The two have an irresistible pull towards each other. Their relationship causes Evie to reevaluate her treatment of her clients. I do not want to give too much away so I will stop with describing the story. The characters are well written and I enjoyed the various settings. It was an interesting take on the competitive poker games. We all see what happens on television but behind the scenes is different. I liked that there was a bit of suspense thrown in as well. The story kept me involved and curious as to what would happen with the characters. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Alive by Courtney Konstantin is the third book in the Sundown Series. This can be read as a standalone. Rafe Duncan and Charlie Brewer are the main characters and work in a secret government facility. There is a virus and when humans become exposed become flesh eating zombies. Rafe and Charlie are fighting to survive against the zombies as well as mercenaries who are after them. This is the first book I have read in the series and was blown away. I was taken into a strange existence and kept in suspene the whole book. The descriptions and characters are great. I really enjoyed the entire book and will be grabbing the first two books in the series. If you like a book with suspense, drama, and a great story you will enjoy this book.

Fatal Legislation: A Novel: Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 2 is written by Ellen Butler. Karina is a lobbyist in Washington D.C. who has a Senator drop dead at her feet. Nothing is ever simple for Karina and she becomes a “person of interest” in the death. Luckily Karina is smart and inquisitive so she starts her own investigation before she can be blindsided by the FBI. This is well written with great thought to the story and dialogue. I was drawn into the story as I had been with the first book in the series. This could be read as a standalone but I think it would be sad to lose what was built in the first novel with the characters. I like that Karina is smart and curious. Sometimes this gets her in some bad situations but helps her also in her quests of solving the mystery. I look forward to where this series takes Karina next.

Nite Fire: Flash Point by C.L. Schneider is the first book in the Nite Fire series. This follows the story of Dahlia Nite who has escaped execution by coming to Earth. She is a shapeshifting assassin who is redeeming herself on Earth by trying to protect the people from what lives in the shadows. This is a page-turner and kept me on the edge of my seat. The writing is well done and the characters are developed and interesting. I did not want to like Dahlia at first but could not help liking her as she was trying to help the people of Earth. This is a supernatural thriller and did not disappoint. Dahlia is not only a shapeshifter but part dragon and human. The human world and city are painted expertly then an added depth is added when we get a look at what is in the shadows. If you enjoy a good mystery I recommend this book especially if you like a supernatural twist to a story. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Santa’s Little Helper by Shaan Ranae is a short holiday read. The story is a fun, steamy romantic read. I don’t want to say too much because I will give the story away. The characters are good and I like that there is a focus on the importance of family as well as romance. This was a cute holiday read that put me in the Christmas spirit. Jake is sexy and handsome in the description. I like that he grabs the emergency and fills in as Santa. I look forward to more reads from this author in the future.

Wish Upon a Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes tells the unlikely romance of Soumya Ninan and Vir Seth. Bollywood actor Vir Seth has made a public declaration that he will never be tied down to a crazy woman. What happens when Soumya tells everyone that he is engaged and it is to her? The two have sparks and attraction but might be too stubborn to see what they have. I enjoyed the two main characters and the cultural background. The story was clever and fun. I enjoyed that this was a different setting than many books but with a familiar story. This is the first book I have read by Fernandes and will be looking for more from this author.

The Progeny Assassin: A Tarnished Lands Story (Forgotten Woods Book 2) by P.A. Wikoff continues the fantasy saga. I was concerned because I read the first book awhile back and was afraid I would be lost. Luckily this book can be read as a standalone because it is a continuation in the same land. The attention to detail is amazing yet again and places you in this nightmare world. Lara is complacent about her life but things soon change. She is fierce and strong. I really enjoyed reading her story. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and learning more about the Tarnished Lands.

The story The Confectioner’s Truth (Confectioner Chronicles Book 3) by Claire Luana is a mix of fantasy and thrill ride. The story continues with Wren and the members of the guild. There is a new ruler who is beyond bad. He rules like a madman and things are not stable for anyone. I recommend reading the other books in the series. The characters have grown and matured through the course of the series. I enjoy Wren because she is not cocky or self-centered. She is unsure of herself and does not always make the best decisions. She is rash at times and at other times she is centered and in total control. These traits make her easy to relate. There are many past characters who are back and some new ones as well. This is a great series that I enjoyed reading. I am sad to see it end but will be watching for new books from this author in the future.

For the Love of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne is the fourth book in the Chicago Christmas series. This is the story of Laura and Joe. They fell in love as children and had their lives all mapped out until Joe is sent to Korea during the Korean War. When he returns life does not fall back into the norm. Joe is dealing with the aftermath of having been deployed into a war zone and Laura is dealing with her own problems. Will the strength of their love overcome all of their challenges? This is a well-done and sweet story. The characters are well written and the story was interesting. The story was sad but uplifting as well. I liked the realistic, non fairy tale aspects of the story. Life is a struggle and we have to figure out what is important to us. I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

Beachcomber Gone: Beachcomber Investigations Book 9: a Romantic Detective Series by Stephanie Queen is a fun, thriller. Dane and Shana travel to meet Shana’s family in Australia. Things go out of control and the situation and people are not always what they seem. I recommend this if you like romance, great dialogue, and some thriller thrown in. I have not read the whole series and this can be read as a standalone. I think that something is lost because reading alone loses the buildup from the other books. I like the two main characters and their relationship. The story is a fast read and I was sorry when it ended. I am planning on reading more from the series since I have enjoyed the books I have read.
The Confectioner’s Coup by Claire Luana is the second book in the Confectioner Chronicles series. I recommend having read the first book first because this picks up the story from the first book. The story continues for Wren and things are not looking good for her and others in the guild. Guild members are going missing and the King is out of control. I have enjoyed this as well as the first book and the novella. The writing is well written and entertaining. This is a twist and turn thriller that at times kept me on the edge of my seat. I like the characters and the story is interesting and well thought out. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing where the story goes.
A Frothy Christmas Kiss by Allyson Abbott is the fourth book in the Christmas Kiss series. This is a fun, Christmas read centering on the story of Kat and Dan. Kat comes across a great, little coffee shop with a very, handsome owner. After the two get to know each other over their shared love of coffee will the sparks fly? The story is a quick read with a happily ever after ending. The two characters are well written and their story is sweet. I enjoy stories like this especially during these busy times of the year. This is a sweet, uplifting story that I enjoyed. This series can be read in any order because they are standalone. If you enjoy one you will enjoy all of them.

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections series. This is a great series and can be read individually. The characters recur and it is great to see the progression of them. This tells the story of Brett. He is good with the ladies if being in the friend zone is considered good. Liv is a baseball fan and a smart woman who is a vet. Can Brett get and stay out of the friend zone? He is so cute when he is interacting with Liv. I have enjoyed this entire series because the characters have their own personal issues and stories to tell. No one is depicted as perfect and no relationship is perfect. Everyone has their ups and downs. The characters are well written and the dialogue is great. The stories alternate between POV which is great giving insight to both primary characters. I look forward to reading books in this series and hope you enjoy it also.

A Pink Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott is the third book in the Christmas Kiss story. This is the story of Billie and Leroy. Billie left her hometown to go to the big city and left behind her family and her boyfriend Leroy. What happens when she returns home after five years? This is a story that explores the miscommunication between people and how we learn from it. The story is a sweet, small-town romance. I enjoyed the characters and how Billie had to explore to become herself. I read this so quickly because I wanted to know what and how everything would happen. This is part of a series but they are standalone books and quite enjoyable. If you need a quick Christmas pick up this book will give it to you.

Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King is the first book in the new series Welcome to Knollville. Truly doesn’t remember her childhood and is struggling to pay for counseling to hopefully unlock the secrets of her life. Jeff is a police officer and he is seeing a pattern in some cases that he is working on. This is a spooky at times but definitely intriguing book. There is a paranormal thriller that I didn’t want to put down. I was intrigued by the moment I started and wanted to find out Truly’s story. She is a great character. As usual C.A. King sets up a great story with plenty of detail to give a clear image of everything and everyone. I am so happy to have a new series to start that King is writing. I look forward to see where the series goes.

A Tangy Christmas Kiss is the second book in the Christmas Kiss series by Allyson R. Abbott. This is the story of Mel who is sent to Spain to take care of her aunt’s home during the holidays. On her trip, she meets Lucas. The two have an instant connection despite a major language barrier. On her house sitting Mel discovers that there is much she does not know about her aunt. This is a sweet, romantic read. I enjoyed that it was a quick read and with an uplifting story. The characters are sweet and there is a bit of innocence to them. The story just flows and I didn’t want to put it down. I had to find out if everything worked out for Mel. I also enjoyed the importance of family and how they all played a part in the story. I look forward to reading more in the series.

DANGEROUS GROUND: Tina and Chase’s Story (Under Ground Book 5) by Alice Rachel is a set in the future in a Dystopian society. This book should not be read without having read the series. I have read the series and this would have had me completely lost without having read the other books and novellas. I did like that the author put a quick chart at the beginning to help me get re-orientated with characters. The focuses on Tina, who is part of the upper class. She is great because as she learns more about her society she starts to act to help those who are being harmed. Chase is part of the lower class and trying to fight to help his girlfriend and others who are dealing with the struggles and acts being done to them. The characters are amazing. I just kept flipping through wanting to know what would happen next. There are some parts that are really tough to read because of the subject matter but was worth it to stay in the story. This is definitely not for an immature person but someone who can filter and process the story. I have enjoyed this series and like that the characters are all part of each book but that each book focuses on certain characters who have a big part at that time. This gives lots of different perspectives. Pick up the series you won’t be disappointed.

Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery by Ellen Butler is the first book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. This is one well written mystery that has humor, DC political scene, romance, and mystery. I was first intrigued as an art history student because the Gardner Heist still has so many unanswered questions. Ms. Butler did a great job of a “what if” scenario that is well thought out and logical. I loved the main character Karina Cardinal and how she went about trying to weave her way through the twists and turns. I also appreciated that the mystery was interesting and had lots of different characters to wonder about their intentions. I will be definitely looking for more from this author in the future and look forward to more of the Karina Cardinal series.
The First Backwards Christmas by Brooke Williams is a sweet, holiday story. This is a short story that tells the origins of Backwards Christmas in South Pole, Alaska. The story of hometown man Jack and the pilot Joyce. Jack is worried that his town is going to fade away as people are moving away to more prosperous cities. After Joy urges people to vote for Jack in the mayoral race Jack has to solve the problem of the city. Not only does Jack need to solve the city’s problem he must also figure it out so Joyce can stay based in the town. This a very quick fun holiday read. I like the characters. Jack is sweet and has a bit of a silly side. Joyce is caring and smart. The two are a fun couple who genuinely care for people and each other. I recommend this if you need to get in the Christmas spirit. I look forward to reading more about South Pole, Alaska in the future.

Across From You by Amabel Daniels is a fun, romantic read. The story alternates between between Lexi and Jake. Lexi is recovering from a breakup that went viral and has decided she needs a break from relationships. Jake is looking for the right woman despite having a reputation as a Casanova. The two see each other at an art class while Jake is a nude model. Several days later they meet again at a wedding. The two characters are fun and realistic. I like that both have a good dialogue. Also, who can resist a good looking, intelligent man and a spunky female. This was a fun read that kept me laughing. I will be looking for more from Amabel Daniels in the future.

The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana is the first book in The Confectioner Chronicles series. This book is full of mystery, magic, and cooking. Wren is an amazing cook and soon finds herself in the Confectioner’s Guild. Here she learns more about herself and that she has special magical powers. After the death of the head of the guild after eating her cupcake she learns more about not only herself but this guild that she has been brought into. The characters are well written and the story drew me in from the beginning. Not only is Wren a great character but there are also many others. The cupcake on the cover might have made me curious but I am so glad I gave this book a go. I look forward to reading more in this series.
The Confectioner’s Exile by Claire Luana is a prequel novella to The Confectioner Chronicles. This is the backstory of Hale Firena and his life. He has always had everything he could possibly want but his life changes drastically. He must learn how to survive without relying on others. I really enjoyed this prequel and read it before I read book 1. The writing is great and the action was also good. After reading this novella I was even more excited to read the series. This is a YA series but teens and adults can enjoy this series.
Do Not Open Until Halloween by C.A. King is a short, fun read. The story is about Caitlin who is asked to housesit for her Aunt. Little does Caitlin know that life will be getting more interesting very quickly. Like other books by C. A. King this is a good, imaginative read. I read this in one sitting and was glad to get to read this story. The characters are good and interesting, while the story is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy. I look forward to reading much more from this author in the future. I always enjoy the stories.

Must Love Fashion by Deborah Garland is the first book in the Darling Cove series. The story is about Gwen Mallory and Andrew Morgan. The two meet while working at Prada and must learn how to work together. At first, Andrew does not want Gwen invading his area and work but gradually comes to realize life is not the same with Gwen there. This is a sweet story of trust and finding love. If you like the fashion industry and want a story that has challenges but eventually a HEA this is a great story for you. The writing is well done as well as the character development. I look forward to reading more in this series in the future.
Love, Christmas-Movies You Love is the second book in The Holiday Series. This is an anthology that the stories are inspired by Christmas movies. Each of the stories are on average 8-10 chapters and read quickly. The first story in the book caught my eye immediately being inspired by “It’s a Wonderful Life”. “A Wonderful Life” by Mimi Barbour is a sweet, heartwarming story where Clarence comes back to help Bedford Falls. I enjoyed this story because it kept the wholesome sweetness the movie had going. I also enjoyed the story “The Holiday” by Nancy Radke. I am still working my way through the anthology and will give myself a little Christmas treat here and there to get myself in the holiday mood. This is a fun collection and if you like Christmas movies you will enjoy this fun treat of many stories to choose from.

Redemption by Meghan O’Flynn is the fifth book in the Ash Park series. I highly recommend reading the books in order to get the full impact. This continues along the storyline of the prior books and is hard to put down read. There were some terrifying scenes and twists but did not let me down. This was a great end to the series and only improved from book to book. I will be looking for more from O’Flynn in the future because her writing always is a great read.

Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen contains the three books Alterations, Game Changer, and Primal Will. So glad this came out in a set. I have recommended in the past to read the books in order because they pick up after each other. This is a creepy sci-fi dystopian set of novels dealing with our need to improve ourselves. Alterations: Alterations by Jane Suen is a futuristic, psychological thriller. The story is about three women who get an implant put in them to help them with different aspects of their lives. The story is interesting and different from other stories I have read. I enjoyed the three different female characters and the differences between them. They all had relatable aspects and problems that many women deal with daily. The doctor helping them seemed interesting also despite not being in the story much. I really enjoyed the concept and the story. I would have enjoyed a longer book with more background and information about the characters. There seemed more that could have been explored. I hope to read more from this author in the future and will keep an eye out for her books. Game Changer Game Changer by Jane Suen is the second book in the Alterations series. I recommend reading the first book first in order to get the full impact of what is going on in the story. This book picks up after the first and continues the stories of the nefarious Dr. Kite and the three women whose lives he changed. I enjoyed getting more in the story of Gigi, Lilly, and Ellen. I continued to hope the best for the women and that they would recover from their experiences with Dr. Kite. This book is again full of suspense and mystery. I wanted to know where the story was going and am curious as to where the last book in the trilogy will take their experiences. Primal Will Primal Will by Jane Suen is the third and final book in the Alterations series. The conclusion of the story did not let me down. I recommend reading these in order because one story flows to the next. I was really curious as to how Gigi, Lilly, and Ellen would handle their experiences of being subjects of Dr. Kite. Each of the women had a different experience but still had after effects to handle. Dr. Kite is on the run. Will the women allow Kite to run and hide? I like that each of the women are different from one another but with this common thread in their lives. They are strong and a bit fierce. The Romance in Rehoboth Boxed set by KL Montgomery includes the first three books in the series. What a great way to get several lighthearted stories together. These can be read out of order but why would you when you have them all together. Fat Girl Fat Girl by K.L. Montgomery is the first book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. These are standalone stories but with characters that carry over from one story to the next. Claire is going through a reinvention of herself after her divorce. She is fat and had a lifelong challenge with her weight. She is a blogger/journalist who decides to join the online dating world. Her character is relatable and fun. I could relate to her because the character is the same age as myself and so were her references from her past. I liked the story and read this quickly. If you are needing a fun read this is for you. The Flip The Flip by K.L. Montgomery is the second book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. This can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. The story is about Andrew and Sonnet who were academic rivals in high school. When both jointly inherit a house ten years after high school can they put their differences aside? Andrew is the underachiever who enjoys his life. Sonnet is the overachiever who wants to continue her education and lead girls into the sciences. The two decide to flip the inherited house. There were elements that reminded me of “The Money Pit”. This was a fun read that kept me from putting it down. I wanted to see where the story went. The characters were relatable and realistic. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but am now going back to catch that one before continuing to the next book. I hope that the stories are as fun as this one. Plot Twist Plot Twist by KL Montgomery is the third book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading in order because some of the secondary characters were introduced in earlier books. Lindy wants to hide from the limelight but is convinced by friends to become involved in a local theatre production. Meric is a newly divorced accountant by day but a handsome actor after work. Can Lindy overcome her insecurities to allow Meric to be more than a friend? I have enjoyed the other books in the series and this one did not disappoint. The characters have real issues and to face not only themselves but also those around them. KL Montgomery gives another strong female character and reminds us that there are nice guys out there.

Give and Take by Lee Kilraine is the second book in the Thorne Brothers series. I had not read the first book but was easily able to follow the story. This book focuses on Wyatt and Rhia. The two are polar opposites. Wyatt is quiet and very meticulous with everything in his life. Rhia is outspoken and a free spirit. The two personalities crash together but will they mesh? This is a fun read with no unexpected craziness. This was a welcome distraction from my daily life and gave me a little smile. I will be catching more from this writer in the future. Everyone can use a good, happy story from time to time.
