I felt dirty reading this book and not because it is a romance novel. Although this was a fairly historically accurate book, it felt like there were things that were glamorized that should never have been. I’m thankful it was a quick and easy read as I just couldn’t get into it. I’ll give it three starts because the character development was strong and you felt their emotions otherwise, I just couldn’t enjoy it.

Leon Falcon is a man of great stature and wealth. Usually, a man of his standing would court a woman and tried to make her his but from the moment he saw Penny he knew that he wanted her. It is 1864 South Carolina and Penny is a slave so she can’t say no to him or any white man for that matter. Leon decides he’s going to buy her from her previous master because as luck would have it, he owes him money and cannot pay it back. The only thing that he has that is worth anything is his beautiful slave named Penny. Leon Falcon chooses to collect on the debt owed to him and takes Penny as his own slave.

Leon and Penny find themselves attracted to one another. The attraction that first drew Penny and Leon together becomes so much more. It doesn’t take long for Penny and Leon to realize that there is an immense force between the two of them that is stronger than either of them. They both fall head over heels in love with each other. But what will become of their relationship? It’s 1864 South Carolina and a white man can’t marry a slave. Will they ever truly be able to be together?

I loved the character of Penny because she was so down to earth, honest, and pure of heart. There was something about her that everybody just liked. Leon Falcon came across as just another rich slave master at first who was used to getting his own way. However, once you start reading more into the book you realize that there is more to Leon Falcon then you would initially think. No matter what the world threw at them, or the times being what they were, Leon and Penny found a way to be together. The bond between them could not be broken.

Be warned that this book is not for the faint of heart. There’s many explicit sex scenes throughout the book including one scene where Leon takes Penny’s virginity in a crass and cruel manner. I enjoyed most of the book and the overall love story between Leon and Penny but found this scene to be disturbing and it really put me off. If Leon truly cared for Penny, he would not have done this to her. Especially not when he had a reputation for treating his slaves well. Overall, I enjoyed the historical aspect of the book and the love story that unfolded between Penny and Leon.

When I read the preface and looked at the cover of the book I knew that this would not be a category I am typically drawn to other than the romance part. Historical Fiction is one I tend to stay clear of because I love history and need the facts to be facts BUT I am very glad I took the chance and read this book. The author gave the book a great balance of both history and fiction.
Penny was bought to keep only child Rose company while growing up. Penny was still a slave and did have responsibilities but she was Rose’s best friend first. When Mr. Conrad needs to repay the loan Mr. Falcon lent him there is no way he will have the full amount in time, so Mr. Conrad begs him that he can take anything he sees on his plantation that he wants. Never did Mr. Conrad think that the only way the loan would be repaid would leave his daughter hating him for the rest of her life.
When Penny first lays eyes on Leon Falcon she was smitten. However, it would never be more than a slave/Master relationship due to the current treatment of slaves in the south in 1864. But Penny sure could fantasize.
I love the way the author took the time to develop the story between Leon and Penny. It might have been the fiction part of the story but it was still a great mix of historical fiction. Most definitely worth the read!!

I normally don’t read historical fiction. This book is one of the better ones I have read. I like how the author had the couple defy all odds to be together. They definitely shouldn’t have been together, but they did everything they could. They really did love each other and it was such an amazing love.

I personally loved this book. I got drawn in from the beginning, that I had to keep reading until I was done. This book has history, forbidden love, steam, action, and romance.
Falcon buys Penny to teach her how he wants things done. He ends up falling for her which is forbidden then. Will he risk it all for Penny?
Penny is super sweet, strong, and kind. She is also educated and not afraid to stand up to Falcon. Let’s see if their love can handle all the obstacles.

Set in the slavery era, I’m not usually a big reader of historical romances but I found this to be a very intense gripping read. Filled with action, drama and romance, there is definitely enough content to have you hooked. The beautifully descriptive writing style from this author makes you feel the story along with the characters.

Wow what a wonderful read! Leon and Penny are great lead characters and the author has you pulling for their love to conquer all right from the very first time they meet. You are so drawn into the story by her vivid imagery that you quickly recognise those characters you will hate just as much as you will love Penny and Leon. Their steamy romance flourishes against all odds and they restore your faith in love being strong enough to beat all the odds.

This book is only for those over 18 due to the adult nature of the content within.

It is 1864 in South Carolina and slavery is still going strong and any rich person has at least one, whether they treat them well is another story, but Penny is one of the lucky ones and has been brought up more like a family member than a slave, she is allowed to live in the house and be a companion to the families daughter, but one day that all changes. Leon Falcon is the richest man with the largest plantation in South Carolina and possibly in all the nearby states and he treats his slaves well, one day he is visiting a family who is down on their luck, however, when he sees their slave Penny, all he wants is her and nothing else will do, so he makes an offer to her owners and awaits their answer.

As soon as Penny sees Leon Falcon she admires him and thinks that he is the most handsome man she has seen and despite being black and a slave she realises that she wants more from him than he can ever offer her. When Leon returns to Penny’s home, her owners agree to sell her to him and so she packs up her things and leaves with him for Falcon Grove where his plan is to teach her and then take her like every slave master does, however, when he realises that Penny isn’t like the normal slaves he encounters he experiences a change of opinion. Leon realises that he wants to woo her and court her like an equal, however, for a master and a slave, this can never be.

As time goes on and Leon begins to fall harder for Penny than he intended and soon she admits that she feels the same way, but what does their future hold and will they be able to overcome the obstacles their skin colour and the societal values which surround them, or will it all fall apart before it can even really begin? This is a historical romance where love runs strong, but the path is not free of the dangers which threaten everything they are trying to build in this steamy and intoxicating story of forbidden love.

Penny’s a slave whom works for a family whom adore her however they fallen upon hard times. So sell her to pay their debt now she’s with another and this is different to what she is use to. Leon and Penny startled me at frist but as the boom progressed or made more sense. Warning :using inappropriate lanauge which some may find offensive.

To start out with this review, I must tell you this is a new author for me and I don’t normally read Historical anything. So this book sounded like a story I might like. I was wrong! I Loved it! Falcon and Penny are both fighting for what should be right. In a time where it is all wrong. 1864 a time when race held status. Only the whites were rich and owned slaves. But who can tell the heart what it wants. Falcon lost his wife and child many years ago. Feeling he would never open his heart again, that is until he saw Penny. Penny knew she would never be anything but a slave. Even though she was adopted by a white family, she was still a slave to their daughter. This author opened many hearts in this story. It was well studied and even better written. As soon as I opened this book I knew I was going nowhere until I read The End. The story is fast paced and never slowed. It kept my interest and I fell in love with the characters, well not so much with Rose. I recommend this story for all those with romance in their hearts.

This a quick and steamy romance read! Forbidden love between Leon (master) and Penny (his slave) during a time period where love between the owner and slave was forbidden let alone a interracial couple. Penny’s character development was fantastic, you get to see her grown into her own woman. Leon took some getting use to, but but the time his intentions were out there, you learn to love him. If you want a romance books with some spice and little bit of story, this is totally for you.

This story takes place in Collingsworth, South Carolina in 1864, a time in which slavery is legal and very much the norm. Rose’s family has owned Penny since Rose was a little girl. Rose and Penny even grew up together. Penny was never treated like a slave until the family is desperate for money, and Penny must be sold to settle the debt owed. She is bought by Leon Falcon who finds Penny irresistible. He is determined to show Penny love and one day even marry her. Their love for each other is sweet in the face of racism and hatred. However, be warned that this book was quite graphic in the sex scenes.

Fifty shades of the 1800’s!

This standalone steamy story walks the reader through the times of 1864 when slaves were kept as property. I was interested when reading this, to hear a different perspective of person in this setting – not a white, rich person, but not exactly a completely ‘hardshipped’ slave.

It follows Penny (with a very high sex-drive) falling in love with her master Leon Falcon and how they navigate a rocky relationship, with a few twists and hurdles. Although a standalone story, it does leave room for more to be explored in this world, so who knows might come next.

I don’t usually go for historically based novels, but I really enjoyed reading it and feel that it would be a great introduction to this genre of stories!

This story was difficult to grasp when I started, but once I truly got into it I was not able to put it down. Penny and Leon’s story was one you could not help but fall in love with. It was a beautiful take on this historical era, and the characters left a mark. They cross a threshold in which decisions that are made can’t ever be undone, and it reflects on the depths of love 2 people can share. Its a delicate subject and this author did a great job with the way it was told. This was not just about a plantation owner and a slave, but truly a man and woman in love. There were some deep moments that left an impression, but still that balance of love and steam in-between. I would recommend this book for anyone.

The Billionaire’s Slave is a Historical Romance that once you start reading you won’t want to put it down till you finish. This is a fast paced story packed with some steamy scenes and strong determined characters that brought the story to life. This is a fairly new author to me but I’ve read other books by her but this one is definitely my favorite yet. Penny is a slave who is bought by Falcon (Leon) and she is definitely attracted to him as much as he is to her. He is determined to make her his. These two definitely learn a thing or two from one another. I don’t want to give to much away so I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Not gonna lie. When I first started reading I didn’t think I was going to like the book. I felt uncomfortable mostly because it was a genre I’ve never read before. Being an African American woman I thought, why would I want to read about slavery romanticized? I’m glad I kept reading.

At first I thought the male love interest was grooming the slave to well be a sex slave but watching their encounter develop to an actual relationship he was willing to risk his life and fortune for was intriguing. Penny is a doll. Experiencing her character growth was fantastic.

The intimate parts are great. Like super steamy. Need to douse my eyes with holy water and beg for forgiveness. I will never look at cucumbers or picnics the same again. Definitely detailed. Does contain swearing and topics that may make you uncomfortable. The characters are well developed and the language is spot on. Everything seemed authentic to the time period.
Overall it was an enjoyable book.

This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author and I’m glad I took the chance. I have only read a handful of historical romances, but this is the first one that involved a slave and her owner. During those time I’m sure there were masters and slaves that did fall in love and had to hide their affections. Leon Falcon was a great no-nonsense character that did err on the side of being manipulative at times. While I did like Penny, she was nieve to many things, especially how her best friend/owner felt about her. Overall it was a well put together story. It had a great lesson in there and that is the heart wants what it wants. You can’t help who you love.

This story takes you back to an age where races did not mix, slaves were a status symbol and the elite were almost untouchable. They lived by their own rules and lesser classes bowed to them. Reading this story was reflective and very well written. I escaped instantly and was captivated by the formation and evolution of the characters and it was a truly humbling experience. A very well thought out and provocative tale that will be enjoyed by many, I am sure. 4 stars.

The Billionaire’s Slave by Stacy-Deanne. This book was different and hard to read. The slavery period was a difficult time for a lot of people but this story made something positive out of a bad time. Its about Penny who is a slave. The family she works for loves her but they also make sure she knows her place. She is family in some ways but not all. In 1864 South Carolina slaves could not say no to a white man, woman or child. If and when they did it was with dire consequences. Penny is sold to a white man named Leon Falcon because he wants her. He plans to teach her, train her and have his way with her but he didn’t include feelings becoming involved. Penny has her own plans and she teaches Leon far more than he could ever teach her. The problem with them falling in love is their kind of relationship is unheard of in those days. There is really no way they can see it working out. Is there any possible way they can be together. Things don’t look good for them but if anyone can make it work they can.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance which had me hooked from page one. The author manages to bring a period of history vividly to life with her descriptive narrative and historical details, which made me feel immersed in the era and the setting. Set in a time when white men had black slaves and black women could not say no to a white man, this is South Carolina in 1864. Slave Penny is sold to Leon Falcon, who decided to buy her because he wanted her. Leon’s plan was to buy her, teach her and then take her, but he soon discovers that Penny has her own plans.
Although Leon has slaves he does look after them and he soon finds himself falling in love with Penny. However, their relationship is unheard of at that time and they face many obstacles, but they love each other and are determined that they will not be separated. I loved Penny as a character, she’s strong and determined and very likeable and relatable. The chemistry between her and Leon sizzles off the page and I liked how there relationship developed despite the obvious complications. This is a heartwarming and at times heartbreaking romance which I literally could not put down.

This book is a historical romance.

Leon Falcon has had his eye on Penny since the first moment he saw her. A gentleman of his standing would usually woo a woman, court her, and gain her father’s approval. Falcon, on the other hand, doesn’t have to do any of that with Penny because she’s a slave in 1864 South Carolina and can’t say no to him or any other white guy. Falcon’s strategy is straightforward: first, he’ll purchase her. He’ll show her how to do it. He’s going to take her after that. Penny exposes his heart to a love so great that it transcends every force that dares to break them apart, and he quickly discovers he’s the student.

I loved this story. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is my third book from this author and I can’t wait to read more of her books.

I loved this book! Historical romance is my favourite genre and it was nice to read a historical romance set in a different country to the ones I usually read. I have read a few books by this author now and I really enjoy her writing style but I have to say I think that this one is definitely my favourite so far. I was completely hooked from beginning to end. Leon and Penny’s story was so captivating and I think it is because of the time it was set and the way their relationship would have been viewed is hard for us now to understand in the time period I which we live in now. The passion and chemistry between the two characters was undeniable and you could tell that their feelings were genuine.
I really did enjoy this story and would absolutely recommend it to other readers.

I was a little apprehensive going into this as I was wary of the master-slave dynamic during this time period. What I found, however was a beautiful love story. Master Falcon has absolutely no issue going against the norm and calling out how others opinions of right and wrong don’t align with his. Penny gives off the vibe that she is young and naïve, but she is clear with what she wants, and knows more that she is given credit for. The love story itself was very spicy and beautiful. It had me invested from the beginning and rooting for true love to win out above all else! There were some parts that were hard to read, and some very close calls. Check your trigger warnings, but definitely give this book a shot. I will be looking into more books by this author for sure.
