Thief of Magic (Shadowed Minds, #1)Thief of Magic by Bree Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a heck of an adventure. I felt like I was on a roller coaster going between realms. I often found myself wondering what it would be like to travel between realms like they did to take things. Sounds like a bit of an adrenaline rush. It is an entertaining plot that did a very nice job of grabbing my hand and dragging me into the story. I didn’t want to leave. You just want to keep going to find out what the next page brings. The characters are well written and very relatable. You can empathize with their struggles. I loved the story and hope to read more of this series. Get out there and buy this story too. You’ll want to read it. I guarantee it. Highly recommend.

A fascinating five-star read. This is number one in the Shadowed Minds series, and I need number two right now!! This has great story lines and characters that will pull you in and keep you wanting to know more about them. There were points I could have done with extra, but overall, very well done. I am definitely going to check more from this author.

I really enjoyed this Urban Fantasy story. The author does an amazing job of making fantasy seem like it could be reality. The story is fast paced and gripping from the beginning. The main character Lee, is a strong resilient woman who isn’t afraid to fight for what she wants no matter the danger or the cost.

Lee is a thief. But a thief with magic powers which means she can move around unseen and unheard. As useful as this skill is it takes a toll on her life and wellbeing.
Lee is determined to go back to the source of her power to ask them to remove it to hopefully save her life. She would rather have no powers than the power that is killing her every time she uses it.

But things are now a race against time. Lee needs to put her plan in place, while not letting her crew know her plan to leave. Add to this the increasing threat of an FBI agent who can travel the same way Lee can and the race just gets worse. Lee’s race becomes even more a race against time. Will she end up captured by the FBI or will she end up dead from the magic she sees as a curse?

This is book one in the series and you are definitely going to want to pick up the next book! I loved this unique cast of characters and the unusual pieces of worldbuilding.
Having magic powers is great… until it isn’t. Lee is on a quest to cure what ails her and it’s an intriguing adventure filled with thievery, danger, betrayal, conspiracy, and secrets.
Sometimes writing a review is difficult because the things you want to comment on contain major spoilers, so I’ll just say, you won’t regret reading this wonderfully written tale!

This is the first fantasy book in this series for this author which I enjoyed and can’t wait to see what happens in the second book. This is a new author for me which I enjoy her writing style and her attention to details. I was pulled into the story from the beginning by the creative, unique characters. They kept the story engaging and fast paced. Lee is someone who has been able to not only enter the realm but also influence it without being seen or heard. It becomes a race against time that could leave her arrested or even dead. Every time she uses her magic, a piece of her falls apart. What happens next with her, you will need to read to find out. She is a great, strong character that brought the story life for me. I enjoyed the plot growth as well as the character growth throughout the story. I really enjoyed the adventure Lee and the others along the way took me on. I highly recommend this book.

Thief of Magic (Shadowed Minds Book 1) by Bree Moore – Review by Allyson Ware

This novel took me on a rollercoaster of magic ride. You’ve heard of a magic carpet ride, but the thrill is nothing compared to this. I never would have been able to guess the outcome of this book based on the first few chapters. I loved everything about it: The characters, the plot, the world development.

I do have to say, Lee easily became my favorite character. I normally root for the underdogs in the book, which I would have considered Risa or Sam, but Lee was too loveable. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Sam and Risa but there is something special about Lee that I cannot see past. I would not be at all disappointed if the author decided to write a sequel; I would be the first in line for it.

Being half human half dragon is much harder then it seems. Then to be exiled. Can you imagine? I would love to be half and half. Best of both worlds. I would blow fire for the fun of it. And if in danger circumstance change to dragon form to protect my body. I love this book I never thought to be half dragon and human.

I thought the world-building and the elements to do with dragons were unique and intriguing, although I did find it a little confusing to begin with. However, once I settled into the story, I found myself enjoying it more and more. The characters were great, the plot is full of suspense, and I thought the novel was well-written. This story with take you on a wild roller coaster ride. Full of amazing characters, a fantastic plot, dragons, and several other fantastic fantasy elements. The author has woven such an intricate story that it will keep you on the edge of your seat and you’ll never see what’s coming from one page to the next. Dahlia is fierce, tough, and refuses to back down from anything. The world building is phenomenal and while the ending does not leave us with a cliffhanger, there are still lots of possibilities. So if your looking for a great fantasy/ murder mystery then I highly recommend this book.

This is one of the longest books I ever read but I was not putting it down.
This is the female lead I love.
An assassin, half human half dragon…..yes I said dragon.
I am a fiend for fantasy and this is the exact story that everyone should read.
This is one of the most original stories I have ever read.
This story will completely suck you in.
As a series fanatic where is book two I don’t even want to wait.
With no other choice the lead lands on earth and one moment a killer, next a savior seeking redemption.
What can go wrong when you have an independent woman fighting crime?
The world building is everything and the imagery has you hooked.
Five stars all the way around.

Okay let me start out by saying this book BLEW ME AWAY. The moment we were introduced to Dahlia aka Dahl, I immediately knew this book was going to be a favorite.

It is incredibly well written and the way all the characters are described you can perfectly envision them. Right down to their scale colors and changing. Whether it be blue scales or in Dahlia’s case red.

I couldn’t set it down from the minute I picked it up. As she and Detective Creed are going through the murders in Sentinel City, I could see the crime scenes so vividly.

This is a perfect mashup of a murder mystery and fantasy. I cannot wait to grab the next!

I felt like it was destiny for me to pick this book up to read because it’s about a half dragon, half human, red-headed woman… and I just so happen to be a red headed woman with the maiden name of “Dragon”! 🙂

Dahlia, the dragon half-breed, has to leave her world when she is slated for execution after hesitating to kill a child witnessing her assassinate a mark. That hesitation sets her on a course to the human realm, running from retrievers and keeping humans safe from creatures of other realms for almost a hundred years. She goes back to the city of Sentinel, where she first came out of her realm, and tries to start over, again. While she is there a string of hideous murders happen and don’t show signs of stopping anytime soon. Dahlia teams up with the police to steer their investigation away from what she knows is attacks by her own. As she battles within herself with what she was raised to know, to what she now knows, she is torn. Can she come to terms with the two halves of herself in time to protect dragons and humans? Can she learn to trust others, even as she finds out the truth behind her escape and exile?

I really enjoyed this read! It kept me turning the pages to find out what happened next. I rooted for Dahlia to figure out what was happening as I suspected that some of her friends were not truly her friends. All the characters were likable and well developed, in my opinion. I loved the ones I was supposed to and highly disliked the bad guys. The world building was fantastic! I felt like I was experiencing other realms in my mind.

As a first book goes, it was intriguing and gut-wrenching at times. It set up a world that I want to know more about and can’t wait to continue reading the series. My hope is that as it continues, more information is given about the dragon world, the Guild, and their “exits” to other worlds! Looking forward to reading more!

New favorite fantasy series!!! I can’t wait to read the next. I typically don’t go for books with a cover of a human on the front, but after reading all of the reviews for this one, I’m really glad I took the chance.

Without spoiling anything, the author does an incredible job of character development, as well as world development. I found myself genuinely placed with impossible decisions along with Dahlia Nite. I felt like her moments of having to make choices alone, and with others questioning her motives is super relatable to how a lot of us as readers can feel sometimes, I know it’s true for me.

I seriously can’t wait to read the next book in the series, I’m in for the ride!!! If you’re debating picking this one up, make the leap and you won’t be able to put it down.

Dahlia Nite. She is everything one would hope for in a strong, heroine role. She has a snarky sense of humour, she’s strong, fierce, independent, and smart. Her weaknesses, of course, include the fact that she is an Empath, though, many would argue that’s a positive as well. It allows for her to feel all that needs to be felt, to power her through her ‘assignments’ and see right from wrong. The connections she builds with those who cross her path, and who need her, is admirable. Our lady is considered a ‘traitor’ in her homeland, and she has spent the last several decades trying to do right by the memories that haunt her and does a kick butt job at it too.

This novel was very unlike any other that I have read as of late and was much more involved. I found myself enthralled by the plot line, the twists and turns, and the way it has the reader falling into it, as though one was watching a movie. I think each and everyone of us has problems fitting into the ‘norm,’ whatever that may be, and want to know that we have someone looking out for us. Luckily for those within this novel, they have that in her. She clearly struggles with not feeling as though she fits into either the human world, or the Lyrriken world. Incredible story, characters, and world building. I will be reading more of the Nite Fire series and following our lovely heroine in her future endeavors. Well done!

I simply loved this gripping book, and how the book takes off and how it soars basically from there, I was very impressed, and consumed into the story line, it was a great start to a series for me, I will be for sure reading the next installments. The author knew how to write a very much captivating novel!

Dahlia was such an awesome and strong character She was not a force to be reckoned with I loved how she was a from two different more less creatures of this Earth. She lived her life thinking one thing, then to her surprise not everything was what it seemed, I could even feel her shock and the feelings associated with it. I connected to her so easily, I felt I was right there with her even though the very much action scenes! She was strong as said, she faced many things, is the true danger out there in the world and the creatures she faces or is the battle of belonging the one creature she will need all her wit against?

The story was full of action, and suspense that kept on going, which I loved. It was never really a dull moment when reading this book. it kept me hooked and on the edge wanting to know more and what the next events would lead to. Things happened drastically, but I will say when I came to the end, I know more questions will develop in the next novel, and I can not wait to get my hands on it and read it!

Wonderful suspenseful writing. The author is very talented to say for sure, and wrote a very gripping amazing novel. I simply loved it and it was the perfect blend of fantasy and suspense. I could not get enough of this book and Dahlia! High recommendation, this is not one to be missed!

This story is told in first person POV but the intricacies of every character are well fleshed out. I read this book not once but twice, back to back because I wanted to absorb absolutely every single detail. Dahlia Nite is such a strong character and brings not only her world, but our world to life in a way not only leaves you wanting more but leaves you wanting to read it again just to take it all in. Dahlia is a pretty strong shifter. She’s gone through some challenging stuff in her life and here comes this crap that is leading her back to home. She is facing the challenge hea don. With a supporting cast of characters, Dahlia is a well-developed character. Though a shifter, it is easy to empathize with her because some of her personality is easy to see in yourself. Her supporting case helps to keep the story moving without chop. The action keeps you glued to the pages. I found myself not really wanting to put the book down to sleep. It was engaging and kept you wanted to find out what was coming up next. Loved the ending. Highly recommend.

Nite Fire: Flash Point by C. L. Schneider – Review by: Jennifer Bartholomae

Flash Point (Nite Fire, #1)Flash Point by C.L. Schneider

Urban fantasy is not a genre I really read, I’ve tried a few but they just didn’t appeal. However, after reading the synopsis of this book I thought I’d give it a try. I ended up really enjoying this book. It brought all of the elements of a novel from other genres that I would love with a little fantasy twist. The world-building was seamless and the characters are so well written that you got sucked into the story. You come to a point where you find yourself considering why it would be so odd if this were actually happening in our world.

Dahlia Nite is the kind of female character that I love -snarky, strong, smart, and she can handle herself. She does what needs to be done to catch the bad guy, even if it isn’t completely legal.

The story starts off when we first meet Dahlia in her natural world of dragons and shapeshifters. Things come to pass that cause Dahlia to flee her home, landing her in our world. The bulk of this story is written in the modern-day, urban world, though we do run into characters from her homeland along the way, just enough to complicate things for Dahlia.

Dahlia works as an arson consultant with the local police, after all even a shape-shifting half-dragon needs a job to survive in our world. The police are working on several cases of supposed “spontaneous combustions” that have everyone on edge. Dahlia knows it’s someone from her land but that’s all she truly knows, and she isn’t really looking to explain all of that to the police.

This book includes more than one murder and more than a bit of psychopathy, which is what I like. The storyline includes a lot of complication and messiness that keeps you guessing. Even for those who don’t think they really care for fantasy or urban fantasy; this is a good one to try out because it might just change your mind.
