Curse Of The Sands (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Susan Ratchford

Curse of the Sands (Relic Hunters, #2)Curse of the Sands by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Admittedly I was drawn to the Relic Hunters series originally because of its whimsical and interesting cover art. I truly had never seen anything like it before, and as soon as I read the back cover of the first book, Eagle Of the Empire, I knew I had to read it. I was immediately transported into Adam and Matt’s world with no way out. Before I knew it I had finished the first five books of this legendary adventure.
I have never read a series as captivating as this one, where each amazing book is so much better than the last. The inclusion of history and myths makes Adam and the gang’s story feel almost nostalgic. I adore Adam and really enjoyed getting to deeply know his character. Ferguson is very skilled at developing his characters and their relationships so naturally. The flow between past and present was smooth, I also loved the structure of these books and the use of different perspectives other than Adam. It also helped the flow of the story and helped me see it as a whole.
I really enjoyed Ferguson’s tone with The Relic Hunters series and his inclusion of humor with the action. Each book is my favorite book until I read the next one in this entrancing and intriguing series. Every book had me more on the edge of my seat than the last, audibly gasping at the pages. This Young Adult Series will have anyone at any age coming back for more! I for one can not wait to sink my teeth into the Sixth installment of this series Kingdom Of The Oceans!

Song of Earth and Claws (Faelands Series) by Lena Abram – Review by Susan Ratchford

Song of Earth and ClawsSong of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Praise for Lena Abram’s, Song Of Earth and Claws, for bringing a unique twist to a classic genre! I absolutely loved this book and the immense journey that it took me on! The characters all felt so real! I got so angry at some of them like they were right beside me. Lannahi was such a relatable character with her intense motives and the feelings brought about by her family. There were times where if I were her I would be so tempted to give up, but she never did and I found that inspiring. Abram’s created an immaculate world with so much detail, her kingdoms, her politics, her games, her twists and turns, all absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store! My first favorite book for the year!

I had so much fun reading this book! It felt so nostalgic to me and I absolutely loved the author’s use of Metaphor. “His deep sand-papery tone” I absolutely loved that line, and how easy it was to actually hear the characters’ voices from the very first page! I would love to go to Bastion academy! I can’t wait to read R.C. Reigh’s second novel in this series Kingdom Of Seven Sovereigns: The Legacy Series: Dragons! She is a new author to me and her series grabbed and hooked me immediately! I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves the fantasy romance genre and all the intensity it contains!

I absolutely love how this series is constructed! Auctioned Surrender Sinful Duets book two is composed of two different books (Auctioned and Relentless) that link together spectacularly! Via Mari does an amazing job of creating a steamy romance between her characters that gets you hot under the collar. Not to mention an intense plot that will keep you reading.Their world is dangerous and addictive with sex trafficking, secrets, and trust issues. The pages flew by as I was thrust into Damian and Bryanna’s story as well as Dereck and Layla’s. Both women are strong and independent and both men are oh so hot! I will be looking forward to the rest of this delightfully sinful series!

This bold work of historical fiction will bring you into its world and not let you go until the end! Elbert Dowden is a wonderful protagonist who drives the intense and sometimes painful emotions of the story and is truly unlike anything I’ve read before. The first thing that drew me to this book was how entrancing its cover art was. Once I started reading, I was happy to see that it was just as entrancing on the inside. Unfortunately, I did not read the first book in this series called Lineage and I will be remedying that shortly because I absolutely loved this book! Even though I didn’t read the first book, Dreamscape was pretty easy to follow as a stand alone. I found Joey’s character to be relatable and J.N. Sheats made it so easy to see her world through Joey’s eyes. Her writing is phenomenal and riveting with a plot that is intriguing and complex. Truly a wonderful thriller with all things paranormal! The J.J. Morris series is turning out to be a new favorite of mine! I cannot wait to read the first book to see how it all started!

Just like The 45th Parallel (the first book), and The Antipodes series that this series draws from T.S. Simons creates another beautiful work that draws you in and will not let you go! Her writing is thoughtful, detailed, and emotional. Her apocalyptic dystopian world is full of twists and turns, drama, and love. Seeing the world through her characters is visually and emotionally stunning! The mythology behind Orenda is an amazing concept that made me feel like anyone has the power to change this world for the better! It made me truly think and feel hopeful for what this world has in store for us! I highly recommend at least reading The 45th Parallel before jumping into this book, and if you really want to dig into the background of the latitude series, reading The Antipodes series as well. Both are absolutely amazing and show the depth of T.S. Simons talent! I can’t wait for my continued journey through this intriguing world!

I absolutely loved Petra Jacob’s use of language, humor, and metaphor! Her inclusion of super heroes was also a different and refreshing choice! Her characters were well thought out and fun to get to know, especially the Twins. I found Frankie to be a very relatable character filled with depth and intrigue! I really want to know and discover more about this amazing world that Ms. Jacob created. I hope there is a continuation! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes dystopian futuristic novels. It also always makes me smile with Thomas and his squirrels! This third installment had a wonderfully paced story that didn’t feel rushed even though the book was short. It also contains a wonderful air of mystery that grips you throughout. This book could definitely be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend starting with the first book to take in everything about this fantastical world that C.A. King created!

Admittedly at first I was intimidated by the sheer size of this book, that all changed once I started to read The Man In Black. The visuals were stunning and the emotions were beyond gripping! I absolutely loved how she split the book into three segments. It helped with the overall length and flow of the story! It really helps you grasp the changes and struggles Fenimore James or should I say Simon Shaw goes through! The tone was also wonderful, it goes beyond being transported back to the old west. I truly felt like I was sitting around a campfire listening to him tell me his life story, both the ups and the downs. Almost like listening to stories from your grandparents! It was absolutely mesmerizing! I could picture every scene, every outfit, as if I was in the saloon! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Ms. Liverpool! I highly recommend giving this book a try!
