Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) By: Cynthia Hamilton 5 out of 5 stars
The story Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is the next exciting and amazing book in a series that I have loved since reading the first one. The author really knocks it out of the park with both the storyline and the characters. It is a book that once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I love reading about Madeline and her partner Mike Delaney. Madeline is an intelligent, independent, determined woman. Mike is a man who is resourceful. They believe that each of them are on a case to find those who are missing. Little do they know that all is not as it seems to be. What does the future hold for Mike and Madelina’s cases? Will they find the missing that they seek? Read this book to find out. This story has suspense, mystery, and danger. It is a story that didn’t let me go until I had read the final page. The author does an amazing job of making the book and characters come alive and I felt like I was right there with Mike and Madeline. There are intense moments and dialogue. I love how Madeline is so methodical when working a case and has learned to trust her instincts. Once Mike is on a case, he doesn’t stop until he finds out the truth. They are both characters I would love to have as a friend. I enjoyed reading about how the additional characters fit into the story and the part that they played. Don’t miss out on the next amazing story that will keep you guessing. Highly recommended.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is another exciting book in this series. This book should not be read as a standalone as you will miss out on the back stories and how are characters came to where they are. Cynthia has done a great job of suspense and thrills and chills and weaving a story that has become addicting. We once again see Madeline and Mike trying to put the past behind them and move forward with their new Event and PI businesses but inevitably the past keeps coming back to haunt them.
In this book both Madeline and Milke take on missing person cases that split the team and stop them from working together. Madeline is on the case trying to find a missing daughter but what she uncovers shows who the real enemy is.
Mike is hired by his cousin to find his missing partner and her sister but what they uncover is something far more sinister than they ever could have imagined.
Now the two are in a race against time to find the truth and the women alive.
I really really enjoy this series and I look forward to more.

If you have read this author before, you know the amazing ride she takes the reader on.
This is the first book of a new series and there were a few times I wanted to throw my Kindle against a wall and scream. There were other times I chuckled at the back and forth of the characters and others where my heart broke.
This is a well-developed plot and the way characters are introduced held my attention from beginning to end. There is a certain delicateness yet wicked strength about this book (I know that’s a total contradiction). It ebbs and flows as the story evolves and the secondary characters play an important role in moving the story forward.
I absolutely will continue reading this story and I am adding it to my TBR again before I begin the next in the series.
I have always enjoyed reading this author’s works and recommend her and this story.

Appearances can be deceiving. And in Southern California, where the sun shines almost every day and make-believe has its own industry, it’s hard to tell what is real and what is merely illusion. Two inquiries come to MDPI on the same day that seem like fairly straight-forward missing person cases. But it doesn’t take long to discover there’s nothing ordinary about the disappearance of two beautiful sisters from Minnesota and an estranged heiress who has never touched her eight-figure fortune.
While Madeline’s partner, Mike Delaney, heads down to Los Angeles to search for his cousin’s vanished girlfriend and her sister, Madeline heads to San Luis Obispo in hopes of picking up a twelve-year-old trail at a Catholic boarding school. Their separate pursuits lead them into a world where a frightening reality hides behind a glossy veneer. With several lives hanging in the balance, Mike and Madeline are faced with daunting odds and ruthless criminals who will kill to keep what they have taken.
Though I was always an ardent reader, I was convinced I couldn’t string sentences together if my life depended on it. Fortunately for me, when I was looking for something creative I could do from bed—if my mystery illness progressed to that point—I decided to try my hand at it. No pressure, no expectations. I didn’t tell anyone what I was up to. I just wanted to see if I could string sentences together and tell an interesting story.
I remembered a quote by Hemingway, “Write about what you know.” With this mandate, I chose the time spent living with my husband in the French Quarter of New Orleans as the backdrop for my story. I typed out my first two paragraphs on my forty-third birthday. I finished that book on my next birthday, and started my second the same day. I now consider those my “practice books”.
As my still-nameless illness progressed, I continued running the family business and continued to write. Nine years after my symptoms began, I finally received a correct diagnosis: Lyme disease, and more specifically, late-stage Lyme, because it had been allowed to progress untreated for so long.
Though the pain was almost unendurable, I clung to my writing like a life preserver. It allowed me to crawl up inside my head, out of my body, giving me brief respites from the vast array of pains.
Though I would never wish this disease on anyone, I can honestly say I am grateful for the path my life took, for it gave me the gift of writing. I now have nine published books, all of which have special significance for me. I write general fiction, mysteries and some nonfiction.
Once Upon a Lyme: The Tale of Two Journeys, is the detailed account of the path my mystery illness led me down as I sought help from over two-dozen doctors, and the gift of writing that was the unexpected upside of being so hopeless ill.
Finding Ruth was inspired by a previously unseen photograph of my mother taken when she was nineteen. I found it as I was going through her things prior to her move into a skilled nursing hospital. That gorgeous photograph of her looking so happy and full of promise made me realize how little I knew about her life before I came along. Because Alzheimer’s has taken away all her memories, I painstakingly reconstructed her life from public records, thousands of photographs, and what my brother, sister and I could remember. The message in the tribute to my mom is Ask while you have the chance.
As of this writing, I have just completed the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. I’m still in love with writing and I still squeal with joy to think that I’ve written eleven books and self-published nine of them. If there is a message in this, it’s Never discounts what you are capable of achieving.

Shattered (the Torzial Affair) Via Mari 4 out of 5 stars
Shattered is the first book in Via Mari’s Torzial Affair Series, this is the second series I plan on reading from this author. The first I read was great but I actually feel more invested in this one. Via Mari is great about addressing this before jumping into the novel, but some readers may find subject manner triggering. We met Jenny in Via Mari’s Prestian Series and she was a character I really took a liking to. I’m thrilled to see we are going to see her story. Overall I’m impressed all around with this book and excited to see how the series plays out.

Do yourself a favor and (1) immediately add this book to your must read list and (2) read every single book by this author. Via Mari has done it again, weaving a spellbinding tale that leaves the reader whiteknuckled and riveted. I loved every page and simply couldn’t read it fast enough. Amazing!

I love this book! This is the first book in this new series for this author. Her writing style is creative and engaging. The characters pop off the pages and make the story seem real. They are connectable and relatable, they make the story. In this book, we get to see Jay’s story and what a story it is. He meets Sasha, problem is she has mafia connections. There is just something about her he can’t get out of his mind. Will he be able to move past that and take her heart? A must read!

Wayward (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 1) By: Via Mari 5 out of 5 stars
The story Wayward (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 1) by Via Mari is an amazing book to read. It pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until I had read the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Sasha Koslov and Jay. Sasha is a Russian Ballerina. She is smart, beautiful, and independent. Sasha is a character that I had empathy for how she has been treated and the experiences that she has had. She is someone that I wanted to find happiness. Jay is the security/bodyguard for two of the wealthiest men in the world. He is trustworthy and can be counted on in a crisis. These two have an attraction/chemistry together. What does the future hold for Sasha and Jay? Will her past be too much for him to overcome? Will they act on their feelings for one another? Read this book to find out. This is a story that is suspenseful and there are times that I was turning pages to find out what happens next. You can feel the emotions/feelings are strong between Jay and Sasha. There are some very steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. You can feel the passion and desire that burns between the two. There is also bantering that goes on between them. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that interact with Sasha and Jay. Don’t miss out on a book that has parts that will make you swoon. Highly recommended.

Sasha Koslov is a Russian Ballerina, on an extended visa in the United States. She is a vision to uphold, strong, and regal to those who watch her perform and follow her fame, but they don’t know her secrets or the heartache she endures.
Jay is the head of an elite security team, paid to protect two of the wealthiest men in the world. He has never once felt the need to protect someone outside of the job, but there is something about Sasha that calls to him on a primal level. He has wanted her since the very first time he saw her, mesmerized by her beauty, that graceful body, and those penetrating sky-blue eyes.
When he discovers her past, the mafia connections and the implications it has to the billionaires he protects, will it be too much to overcome or with methodical planning can he tame and capture the heart of his wayward angel?
Via Mari was raised in both the United States and United Kingdom and travels extensively. As a child she spent uncountable hours traveling and always enjoyed reading to pass the time and this pattern has continued in her adult life.
In fact, you can still find her curled up in an overstuffed chair, when the wood fire is crackling and popping, reading a page-turning novel until the early hours of the morning, especially during the harsh winters of the Midwestern United States or engrossed in a book as she travels from place to place researching for her own novels, or attending conferences.
Via’s inspiration to publish stemmed from research as she began writing love scenes for her own novels. It became apparent there seemed to be a cultural divide between what people believed was normal or vanilla sexual behavior and that which people considered BDSM and she felt compelled enough to write about the differences, similarities, and extreme feelings and levels of trust individuals in dominant and submissive relationships must have, and the desires that are at the heart of these relationships.

This is a short mystery that kept my interest from the beginning. There is a large cast of characters that come into play as Eve sorts through the evidence for a missing girl. I didn’t see the ending which is a plus. I love not being able to figure out the “who-dunnit”.
This is not a first time author for me. The story moves along at a quick pace. It has lovely short chapters which helps move things along for some reason. The characters are interesting and i was suspicious of them all! For a quick mystery…pickup this up.

College student Eve Sawyer senses something wrong at “Murder Creek”.
Named for infamous murders that occurred centuries earlier, it is the site where Lacey Walken disappeared twenty years ago.
With no trace … except for her bloody scarf tangled in fallen branches at the muddy water’s edge.
Drawn to this missing girl’s cold case, Eve investigates and uncovers long-kept secrets while writing a report for her journalism class.
As she puts the pieces of the puzzle together: the legacy of a man, the fate of a beautiful woman, and the lives that changed forever, Eve goes up against an unknown threat—someone with everything to lose.

Adding to Madeline’s already overflowing plate, the D.A. informs her that Rick Yeoman, one of the men who had abducted her three years earlier, has been released from prison after cutting a deal with the Feds. Besides fearing reprisals from the man she helped to convict, his parole also triggers the reappearance of soulless Lionel Usherwood, lured out of his hideaway by the call of revenge. When Yeoman’s body surfaces in Lake Cachuma, Usherwood moves on to the next target: Madeline.

A beautiful American spy flees into the night. On her own, she must live by her wits to evade capture and make it to the safety of the Allied forces.
Lily Saint James grew up traveling the European continent, learning languages as she went. In 1938, her mother’s abrupt death brings her back home to Washington, D.C., and after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Lily comes to the attention of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Her knowledge of German, French, and Italian makes her the perfect OSS Agent, and her quick thinking places her as a nanny in the household of an important German Army Colonel, where she is able to gather intelligence for the Allies. After her marketplace contact goes missing, she makes a late-night trip to her secondary contact only to find him under interrogation by the SS. When he commits suicide, she flees into the frigid winter night carrying false identification papers that are now dangerous and a mini film cartridge with vital strategic information. In order to survive, Lily must make it out of Germany, into the hands of Allied-controlled France, through a path fraught with peril.
This award-winning novel reveals the extreme dangers WWII agents faced when Lily St. James, the heroine of The Brass Compass, parachutes behind enemy lines, destroys rail lines, and infiltrates a high-ranking Nazi household. The Brass Compass is the latest story to celebrate the uncompromising intelligence and composure displayed by real operatives. From Greta Garbo in the film “Mata Hari” to Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale, audiences will be riveted by the tough-and-tender ways women approach espionage and how these fictions reflect reality.
Ellen Butler is an international bestselling novelist writing critically acclaimed suspense thrillers, and award-winning historical fiction. The Brass Compass was inspired by the brave women who served in the OSS, British Special Operations Executive and French Resistance. Ellen is a member of The OSS Society and her fascination with WWII history originally piqued when her grandfather revealed his role as a cryptographer during the war. The Brass Compass is her debut into the historical fiction genre. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Policy, and her history includes a long list of writing for dry, but illuminating, professional newsletters and windy papers on public policy. She lives in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. with her husband and two children.

Madeline Ridley had all she’d ever dreamed of: a handsome, successful husband, a place at the top of Santa Barbara society, every luxury money could buy. In all respects, her world was perfect…until she awoke in the early morning hours in a strange hotel room, alone, unclothed, with a splitting headache and no clue how she had gotten there.
When Steven Ridley comes home in the middle of a weekday and throws a sheaf of damning photos at her, Madeline’s comfortable world collapses in a swirl of blackmail, sabotage and deceit. Hoping to convince Steven of her innocence, Madeline drives to his office and unwittingly stumbles onto a scene that makes her realize who the real enemy is.
From that point on, Madeline Ridley deconstructs herself, reverting back to Madeline Dawkins in order to salvage what’s left of her life. In the process, she discovers where her true strengths lay, and with those, she steels herself for the battle of a lifetime.

Deborah’s childhood on Long Island, NY can be described as Cinderella meets Carrie. A latch-key kid, she spent her days after school, cooking, cleaning and looking after her younger brother to help out her very strict working parents. Those hours of nothingness sparked a wild imagination and a few invisible friends.
In 2014, she finished her first full length novel and after years of doing the whole corporate thing, it was finally her turn to make the dream come true of being a published author. Must Love Fashion, her debut novel, was a 2018 Golden Leaf finalist for Best Contemporary Romance. Now with four published novels, and two more scheduled for release in 2019, she is sharing those imaginary friends with her readers.
Her heroines are strong and witty and the heroes fall hard for them. Readers love that her characters are mature and the plots realistic. Kirkus Reviews called her Darling Cove series “promising,” RT Magazine called her work “sexy and sophisticated,”, InD’tale Magazine said her Darling Cove books are “fun, entertaining and heart-warming,” and Uncaged Magazine called her novella, a “gem of a book.”
When she’s not writing, she’s either at the gym or traveling up and down the East Coast to visit out of town relatives. In addition to a great book, she loves pugs and chocolate ad eats her bacon cheeseburgers with a Grey Goose Cosmopolitan.

Gordon “Mac” MacGregor swore an oath to protect and defend—an oath he continues to uphold as a former Army Ranger specializing in dark ops private security with Cover Six Security. Danger is a constant companion—and one of the few things that make him feel alive. He doesn’t expect that danger to come in the form of the Tabitha “TR” Meyers, the only woman who sees him for who he truly is—and the only woman he’s ever sworn off.
TR rarely abides by the rules, not when there’s something she needs—and right now, she needs Mac. She enlists his help for one night, thinking she can simply walk away when it’s over. But that one night is just the beginning, thrusting both of them into a dangerous web of scandal and cover-up with roots that run deeper than either of them expects.
When TR becomes an unwitting pawn in a game of deception and revenge, Mac will do anything to protect her—even if it means risking his own heart.

If any day calls for a soothing glass of wine, it’s today.
One moment, Capitol Hill lobbyist Karina Cardinal is having a heated discussion with Senator Harper, who just torpedoed her latest health care legislation initiative. The next, after a cryptic remark, the senator is dead at her feet. Hours later, she’s still so rattled she wakes to a freezing apartment because she forgot to close her back door. Or did she?
When her boyfriend, FBI cybercrimes expert Mike Finnegan, is suddenly reassigned to work a new case, he’s got bad news and worse news. The bad: the senator’s death was no heart attack—it was assassination by a hacker disabling his pacemaker. Worse: Karina’s a “person of interest.”
Certain that status could change to “suspect” at any moment, Karina begins her own back-channel investigation into who could have wanted the senator dead. Of course, in Washington, that means playing politics and following the money trail. A trail that leads to more murders…and possibly leaving the door open for a killer to change her status to “dead.”
Ellen Butler is a bestselling author writing critically acclaimed suspense and award-winning historical fiction. Her experiences working at a medical association in Washington, D.C. inspired the Karina Cardinal series. I was so so so excited when I found this book, I read Primogenito quite a while back and of course loved it as with any book by this author and when I found this one and then realized it was the prequel I was even more thrilled. To write a story that goes back before the brilliance of Primogenito and getting to know these people a little more and understanding how this story started was genius. This author continues to amaze me and I absolutely can not say enough about how much I love her stories and how she forms the storylines.
This one was nothing short of heart breaking and I held my breath a few times and felt some deep rooted anger that had me wanting to crawl into my kindle and show a few people what they could do with their protected secrets!! The emotions that were portrayed in this story made them feel so so real because they weren’t just written they were formed with the greatest care and I felt as close to understanding how these people were feeling as I possibly could.
I just don’t know how to put in words my love for this author’s writing, even if some of the things she writes are so very hard to read she does it in a way that you can tell she thought about her readers as she wrote her words.
I HIGHLY recommend this and every book this author has, I became a forever fan after the first book I read by her and that continues to be the case.
