Lost Property (The Tom Grant Series Book 6) by Samantha Adair – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel (The Tom Grant Series Book 6)Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lost Property is the 6th book in the Tom Grant Series, but the first one I read. I felt like I was missing out on a lot of the relationships… even after finishing, I am struggling to piece together how everyone is related. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the book. It was action packed with crime and suspense. The book is focused around a kidnapping and human trafficking ring, but it isn’t very disturbing. It more focuses on the process of tracking down the missing girls, and trying to figure out the bad guys along the way. I kind of wish the author put a little more recap into the story, as far as why Tom is recently retired. How Martha is related to him. Where he met Mischa and background on their relationship. Tom and James don’t get along, but I am not entirely sure why…. Guess I need to go back and read the first 5 books to get my answers. I enjoyed the writing style and will be adding this author to my read lists.

Tom thought he was done with that part of his life. He and Isabelle are living in a quaint house with a big yard and an older neighbor that likes to bring Tom soup. Then he receives a call that threatens to drag him back into the black hole of sex trafficking and saving the lost. This is a suspenseful book that keeps you guessing who is double-crossing who. I wasn’t interested at first because I couldn’t keep track of the characters, but I stuck with it and ended up really liking the book.

This is the first book I’m reading by this author. I was worried about starting a series in book 6. However, it didn’t take long before I was following each of the characters sharing their side of what happened to understand the situation. Tom Grant had retired but gets sucked back into help a young woman held in a human trafficking situation. The story is fast paced, action, and so much more. I’m sad that I am reading the last book in the series. I’d love to be able to read the whole series from the beginning. Great world and character building by this talented author.

This is the 6th book in the Tom Grant Series. This book was enjoyable as a standalone however I feel if I read them from the beginning I would get even more enjoyment out of the characters and the story.
This is a crime thriller. Filled with dangers, twists and turns, hidden agendas and a feeling of not knowing who you can trust.
After leaving his position in the agency Tom is dragged back against his will when his ex partner has 2 woman turn up on his door. Both of them are victims of the human trafficking ring and there is a 3rd woman who holds information on the human trafficking ring that is in danger.
Now it is a race against time to save the other woman and stop the boss of the human trafficking ring before she can harm anyone else.

This is a fast paced gripping story that I couldn’t put down. I am looking forward to going back in the series and reading from the beginning as this type of series is definately what I enjoy reading.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED the Blood Prince by Ayla Marie! The majority of the book is from Leo’s POV as he struggles to keep his family safe in a world where none of them are wanted or allowed to be. The very first chapter hooks you in and is a page turner. The world building is great and the characters pull you in. I dove into the second book literally as soon as I finished the first. Cannot wait for the next! 10/10, would definitely recommend and will be reading it again!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the sixth book in the Tom Grant series, and while it can be a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order as it helps with character development and backstory. As with the other books in this series, it is full of plot twists, turns, and danger. This time around, Tom is trying to enjoy his retirement after a life of running, hiding, and overall drama that the life of an agent entails. He simply just wants to live in peace and leave his past behind him with Isabella. Poor, poor Tom…life is never that simple. When 2 women from a previous case show up (Melody and Annika), he immediately wants to turn them away, he is done with that part of his life. Isabella convinces him to talk to them, one last favor. This decision throws Tom right back into the life he so desperately is trying to escape, and now he is dead center in the middle of a human trafficking ring and everyone is in danger. Can Tom escape this time, with everyone safe, or will his career finally catch up to him?

This is the 2 book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. I have not read the first book in the series but after reading this one i am going to have to go back and read it. This book was so good. Regan and Pavlo tolerate each other at best. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. The dynamic between the characters is amazing.

Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel (The Tom Grant Series Book 6)Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first foray into this series. Although the story is great with lots of twists and criss-crosses to keep you guessing, I can definitely see where having the background on the characters makes a difference. This story is well-written and a fantastic read.

I started off thinking that there were too many POVs telling this story. But I later realized that one would miss so much of the story if not told from the multiple POVs. Each character is written so real. There were no crazy gazillionaires or super spies with really cool gadgets, just hardworking agents and retired agents trying to keep some important people from getting lost in the world of evil and bad people.

Tom is trying to enjoy his retirement from whatever secret service with no name he worked at and find some peace in his life after seeing all the evil that man hath wrought. When two women from his past that are attached to memories that haunt him, Tom gets pulled into finding a third woman to keep her safe while trying to protect the other two.

Not knowing who he can trust except his former team that he doesn’t want to put in danger, Tom is practically completing this on his own. His stubborn teammates come along for the ride and help him. When one of his own gets mixed up with the bad guys, Tom is more determined to keep all three of the women and his team safe.

So much excitement. So much action. So much much. Fast moving. Never slows down. Who is really an ally? One one way to find out…read this book!

Lost Property (The Tom Grant Series Book 6) by Samantha Adair – Review by Desiree Ottinger

Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel (The Tom Grant Series Book 6)Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Both Melody and Annika are wanted for the information that they know. With their handler dead, there is only one person they can trust and that is Tom. Tom, however, is out of the game… he’s done. Until…. he gets a call from James asking for help. Isabella is thrown into her past with the emergence of the two girls running from their “owner”. With agencies working hard to bring down the crime ring, can Operation Sweetpea finally be over? With leaks and betrayals at every turn, the race to end it all is proving to be costly.

I enjoyed reading the end of this series. There was so much going on and happening, but I was able to keep track of it all without feeling overwhelmed or lost. The author did a great job of tying up loose ends and wrapping up the storyline. The twists were perfect and kept me guessing. I was very pleased with end and how it all played out.

Tom is pulled back to work, despite his best efforts to live a quiet life. Once he commits to a job, he’s all in and that hasn’t changed.
Lost Property was highly engaging and full of twists and turns. It does help significantly to read the previous books in the series, but even as a standalone you can catch up pretty quickly. The book is fast paced and keeps you reading to the very end. The banter between Tom and James is a good source of light entertainment is an otherwise heavy book.

Shadowed Agenda: An Enemies to Lovers Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series) by Mavery Ellscott – Review by Christie Mitchum

Shadowed Agenda: An Enemies to Lovers Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 2)Shadowed Agenda: An Enemies to Lovers Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller by Mavery Ellscott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shadowed Agenda is a part of the Shadow Defense Security Series. Regan Christenson and Pavlo Barislov are like oil and water. In other words, they don’t mix. The two are forced together on a book tour…they even write books in two completely different genres. They avoid one another and only interact when they need to, and usually when they do, it’s full of snark. All that changes when Regan’s life is threatened when she refuses to do a private book signing for a woman who just may well be the next First Lady. The sole person who can protect her is Pavlo. As the two spend more time together, they discover their first opinions of one another were all wrong, and that snark may have been hiding a desire for the another.

I will be completely honest. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this book because it involved politics, and I get enough of that every day on the news. However, I quickly changed my mind as that didn’t dominate the book! Yes, it was a part of the plot that drove the story, but it didn’t take away anything from the actual book itself. The pacing was spot-on, and the twists and turns kept me guessing. Just when I thought I knew who the bad guy was, Ellscott would flip the script on me, and I was second-guessing myself. I couldn’t stop flipping the pages to see what the final outcome would be.

I loved Regan and Pavlo. They were complex characters, and with each chapter told in their own POVs, another layer of who they were was revealed. Both of them had some serious trust issues. They had each loved someone with everything they had to have their hearts and their trust in love destroyed. Regan and Pavlo also dealt with that differently. Regan wouldn’t even consider a relationship much less a one-night stand, and one-night stands were all that Pavlo could offer a woman. Each of them was fiercely independent and determined. Pavlo was dedicated to his job with Shadow Defense, and Regan was dedicated to her daughter, Emmeline.

The secondary characters also added a layer to the story. Characters were not always who I thought they were. In fact, that was part of the guessing game for me as well. Because of my uncertainty about their agenda, the epilogue was such a treat for me. It was one of my favorite parts of the book.

It’s been quite a while since I have read romantic suspense, and Mavery Ellscott reminded me why I love this genre. She did a fantastic job of combining mystery, intrigue, and romance. She is a new author for me, and I’m so glad I got the chance to discover how talented she is. I will be reading more from her in the future!!!

I loved this. A great read, a real page turner.
It can be read as a one off read or as a series. I just couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened at the end.
It follows Tom who has quit the agency and just wants to retire in peace. But like any agency worker he’s never really retired, he gets sucked back in and must work to find a woman who’s been kidnapped before it’s too late. I cannot recommend this series enough!

The story of Liam and Teresa finding their way to each other through some ups and downs. The story continues from the first book in the series “The Silent Woodsman” however, this book can be read as a stand alone. I actually read the books in the wrong order and had no issues following all the characters. The author does a beautiful job of world and character building. The story takes a bit of time to read but it’s full of family moments and moments when characters step up and out of their comfort zones. I really enjoyed reading the book.

I’ve read book 3 in the series and it helped a bit with the details for this book but would highly recommend reading this series in order so you can get the full picture at hand. This story picks up with Tom leaving the agency and discovering some well hidden secrets. He waits patiently for Isabella to return home. Some unexpected visitors, part of the Operation SweetPea, come to Tom and ask for his help within the human trafficking realm. One twist after another in this crime ridden story.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in this series that I’ve read and I highly recommend that the books are read in numerical order to have a better understanding of the story at hand. As I started reading this book, I was a bit lost in the details. Some stories I’ve read give out some details along the way and this one gives very little so you are forewarned. Besides getting the content of the story at hand, the story was pretty good and intriguing. The story takes place with Tom and Isabella, whose father has recently passed away and plans to take his body back home to Belarus. The major difficulty in doing so for Isabella is the bounty out for her capture. The plan is to go there and back to London in five days time with the help of Tom during the journey. But when she is discovered back home, she ends up being separated from Tom and led into a life she was running away from. The only way to escape is through dangerous means and hoping that the right people can be trusted to handle the task at hand.

Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel (The Tom Grant Series Book 6)Lost Property: A Tom Grant Novel by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The book cover art immediately made me feel as if I was about to watch a scary movie or read an extremely scary intense suspenseful book. I began reading this and did not want to put the book down, again due to the storyline being just as intense and suspenseful as I expected. This book follows Tom, a newly retired agent who simply wants to live his life outside of the agency and with his love, Isabella. However, when two young ladies involved with a previous case contact Tom’s agency friends demanding his immediate attention, his immediate reaction is to ignore or reject. However, when Isabella asks him to do one last favor and speak to the young ladies, he begrudgingly agrees. This is when Tom’s life takes a turn. The author then introduces you to the secret mission Tom previously was involved with that revolved around a tragic human trafficking ring. In his attempt to limit the amount of people involved with this off-the-books scenario, Tom finds that everyone involved and their loved ones are in danger.

You follow the adventure to find the location of a few of the victims of the tragic ring, and gather as much intel as possible on the folks involved with the expansive trafficking network. While the reader will find themselves on the edge of their seat, I think the thrilling conclusion of this book will leave them wondering what is next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the creation of these incredibly complex characters. I cannot wait to catch up w/ the entire series and follow the author’s success due to their incredibly creative gift of story telling.

This is book # 6 of the Jorja Knight Series. I have only read one other book from this series and while both are good. I do feel a little lost in this last one. I definitely recommend reading all of them in order. That being said, Jorja entered into another country to spend time with her friend Gabriella. Unfortunately Gabby and another friend of Gabby’s has gone missing. Will Jorja be able to find Gabby and the other woman? I really like Jorja but I feel like she trusts too easily in this book and it seems to back fire a lot. While I am still reading this book, I do plan on going back and reading the other books of this series because I found out something’s in this story that I didn’t know before. Which is probably why I feel lost. So do not skip any of the books, read them in order.

Knight In Peril (A Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery #6)Knight In Peril by Alice Bienia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the Jorja Knight mystery series, and it just keeps getting better and better. When I finished the last book in this series, I was so excited to get started on this next book and read all about how Jorja would be going on vacation to travel with her best friend Gabriella. As with any mystery story, you know a private investigator isn’t going to get a vacation that easily. This book lived up to my expectations and then so much more, it has such amazing world-building, along with descriptions of places all around the world taking me to places I’ve never even dreamed of going. I love the descriptions and the situations that our main character is put into, they are so realistic, it’s exactly what I would expect to happen when traveling so far away from home. The fear and anxiety that this story provokes are so amazing, I was worried for Jorja and Gabriella both, never knowing what might happen next. This book kept me on my toes, I was unable to put it down until I got through the entire book in one sitting! I am now going to go back and start back at book number 1 and read through the entire series because if the first 4 books are anything like the last two, I’ve read, I cannot wait to dive in for the ride of my life! Solving mysteries and fighting crime, what an amazing way to spend my day from the comfort of my own home.

This was the first book I’d read in the Jorja Knight mystery series, and I absolutely loved it! This story had me following along every twist and turn with all the different clues Jorja kept following along as she tried to piece together the mystery behind the death of former PI Howard’s untimely demise. The characters were developed so dynamically, that you wondered who may have been involved in the obvious crimes committed. I was shocked at all of the different clues that Jorja was able to uncover from such little nuggets of information she was able to find, it showcased the powerful job that she performed as a private investigator. The outcome of what was going on was astounding, I was shocked, but excited at the same time when I got to the end of the book with how everything had turned out. There are a lot of surprises that you could never have guessed, which is something that only the best mystery books contain. I can’t wait to read more of this series by this author, I feel like there is so much I don’t know about the main characters that I’m excited to go back and learn about them.

Jorja and her best friend, Gabriella Rizzo, have booked a vacation to Istanbul. Upon her arrival, she finds it odd that Gabriella isn’t there to greet her at the airport as planned. When she sees that her bestie has left her items in the place they’re to be staying she knows something is up. It was no use alerting the police because they didn’t take her seriously. She has no jurisdiction in that country to even begin to look for Gabriella, so what is she to do? Everything seems to be working against her and time may br running out for both of them. This was a gripping and fast paced mystery thriller that kept me glued to the pages. If mystery or crime solving of any kind is for you I highly suggest reading this book. I’m sure any one of these books in the series would be great to add to your library.

Knight In Peril (A Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery #6)Knight In Peril by Alice Bienia
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the Jorja Knight Mysteries Series. I loved this story and was hooked from the first page. The author has a way of writing that grips you from the first page and doesn’t let go. I haven’t read many in this Series but it didn’t stop me enjoying this book so I feel they can be read as standalone.
In this story we are with PI Jorja Knight as she arrives in Istanbul to spend time with her best friend Gabriella.
However things don’t go to plan and Gabriella doesn’t meet Jorja at the airport. Was it just a mistake?
When Jorja checks in and realises that Gabriella checked in days ago but is no where to be found, then Jorja starts to worry. Could something bad have happened to her best friend?
She is now on a race against time to find her friend however it won’t be easy as she had to work her way through secrets, lies and deceit as well as corrupt politicans and witnesses bribed to change their story.

It is a rollercoast of a ride but Jorja is determined not to give up until she locates her friend. You won’t be able to put this book down until you get to the end. I was completely invested in Jorja’s fight to get to the truth and find her friend.

This is book six in the Tom Grant series. In this novel, Tom gets dragged back into the underworld of human trafficking. While this book can be read as a stand alone, it’s helpful to read the previous books in the series to get a full background. This thrilling, action-packed story is a page turner and one that will have the reader on the edge of their seat. Expect the unexpected. It is packed with adventure, danger, and twists on the plot. The subject of human trafficking is very real in this book and makes for an interesting plot.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A fast paced, enemies-to-lovers, romance. Full of twists and turns and a surprise who-done-it, even I didn’t guess this one correctly like the last book. This one will definitely have you turning pages and devouring every word from start to finish. I cannot get enough of this series. Can be read as a stand-alone.

Knight In Peril (A Jorga Knight Private Investigator Mystery) by Alice Bienia – Review by Carla Clemmons

Knight In Peril (A Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery #6)Knight In Peril by Alice Bienia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have started to love a good thriller mystery! You do not have to read the others to read this one. I will be going back and reading them in order to get the full back story of the main character. Jorja is in a foreign country and having to sift through the lies and corruption to find her best friend. She is used to having a case to solve but not one that hits so close to home. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story. I was definitely into this one and cannot wait to read more from this author!

Knight In Peril (A Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery) by Alice Bienia – Review by Jennifer Ramos

Knight In Peril (A Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery #6)Knight In Peril by Alice Bienia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved the last book in this series and had to see where this next one takes Jorja. This time she travels to Turkey with her best friend, Gabrielle, but when she arrives, she is nowhere to be found. Not answering her phone, suitcases located and no one has her from her in days. This has Jorja left baffled at her missing friend in a foreign country. All possible theories come into question and the fact she is in unfamiliar territory makes the possibilities endless. While discovering secrets and lies, she starts uncovering what lies beneath of what is going on in the city of Istanbul. Seeing how strong and inquisitive Jorja gets in each of her cases shows such strength and courage even when personal matters get tangled in the midst of her investigations. Wonderful story and series!
