The Dog Thief and Other Stories by Jill Kearney – Review by Tausha Treadway

The Dog Thief and Other StoriesThe Dog Thief and Other Stories by Jill Kearney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Dog Thief and Other Stories by Jill Kearney. I couldn’t wait to read this book of short stories because I love all dogs and cats and I was not disappointed. Told from the view of an animal rescuer it tells the stories of people from all walks of life and the animals that come into their lives and love them unconditionally thru neglect, no food and no attention. Animals truly are the best things on Earth. These stories tell of the bonds that animals and humans have no matter how bad things are. Dogs and cats will be there when everyone else turns their backs on you. You may think no one cares at all but your animal will always be there with a wagging tail or a flick of the tail to give you unconditional love and these stories tell of those times. If you love beautifully written stories about people and their pets this is the collection for you. Do yourself a favor and read this great book!

The North Wind Descends (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 4) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Tausha Treadway

The North Wind DescendsThe North Wind Descends by N.L. Holmes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The North Wind Descends (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 4) by N.L. Holmes. I have truly loved this historical mystery series. This is the 4th entry and its just as good if not better than the previous 3! Its the continuing saga of Lord Hani and in this installment he’s trying to figure out why the King is honoring him. He is trying to find a murderer and at the same time keep his family safe. The new Queen seems to have a weird fascination with his daughter and will he be able to do his job and keep her safe as well? Set in Ancient Egypt I feel as if I have traveled there because of the wonderful descriptions. Hani is first and foremost a family man but he is also a highly regarded diplomat and will do whatever it takes to keep peace even when he may have to cross a line! I recommend reading these in order to get the full effect. You will not be disappointed!

They have been hired to entertain the passengers on the ship with magic and stunts but when one of the passengers is murdered the trio decide to investigate to clear the name of a new friend. The First Noel: A Tale of Friendship by Clare Johnson – Review by Tausha Treadway

The First Noel A Tale of FriendshipThe First Noel A Tale of Friendship by Clare Johnson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The First Noel: A Tale of Friendship by Clare Johnson. I loved this story. Its the retelling of the famous Christmas Story and its so very good. Its a Christian Children’s story but even as an adult I truly enjoyed it. In the form of a poem it tells the story of Jesus’ birth. A daughter of a Wiseman meets a poor shepherd boy that turns into the Nativity Story. Even though its a children’s book it would probably be best enjoyed by older children and young adults. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you need a quick sweet read to get you in the holiday mood this is your read. The illustrations are beautifully done and its a great family read!

The Mummy of Monte CristoThe Mummy of Monte Cristo by J. Trevor Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Mummy of Monte Cristo by J Trevor Robinson. I really enjoyed this read even though it isn’t my favorite genre. this is a take on the original “The Count of Monte Cristo” and it follows along only a lot darker. Its the story of Edmond Dantes who is a man that has had a truly blessed life. Until it falls apart. When the kraken attacks a ship in the Marseille harbor he springs into action to rescue the ship. Edmund ends up going to prison for treason and he ends up having to make the ultimate sacrifice to remedy the situation and everyone thinks the trouble will end with his death but it is only beginning. There are zombies, mummies, magic, monsters and adventures galore. This book is fast paced and will take your breath away at points. This was a very enjoyable retelling of the original story but will its own twists and turns to make it new.

Soul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Anthology – Review by Tausha Treadway

Soul's Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween ThemeSoul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Theme by Erin Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Soul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Anthology. All I can say is you better hold on to your britches! This anthology will have you sleeping with one eye open and you won’t want to put it down until you are finished. One of my favorite books was Karma’s Karnival and it was hair raising. Its the story of Ellie who is sweet and lovable so you don’t want anything bad to happen to her but this is a horror collection. I also loved the history because it made me feel like I was really there making it even more creepy. Each story is full of demons, mystery, murder and horror so fun to read on a dark rainy night. I promise it will make the hair on your arms stand up and you will feel like you aren’t alone. Amazing scary anthology.
