The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Challenger is the second book in The Hustler Series by Rowan Rossler, and it’s a good addition to the series!

This book is Flynn’s to tell. Flynn is best friends with Vandana, the main character in book 1. Flynn meets Chavez, in of all places, their psychiatrist’s office. Their attraction crackles with chemistry, and Chavez, who proclaims that he doesn’t chase women, does finally wear Flynn down and convince her to go out with him. It doesn’t take too long for these two to fall for one another, even though he has a hard job ahead of him destroying the walls she has so carefully erected around her heart.

Rossler has created two complex characters who have been hurt badly in the past. Both have had much success in their lives despite the secrets they have. Flynn is a “motivational guru” but now she has a stalker threatening her. Chavez has been a champion tennis player. He has been nicknamed, “Talented Tornado” for his playing skills, but the past few months that name has been used to describe his demeanor off of the court. He left the sport while he was at the top, and no one knows why. So, like Flynn, he has secrets too. This was a book about how love can shed light on secrets and bring healing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this couple mature and grow throughout the book.

The Challenger is a great description of what takes place within the pages of this book. This couple really does challenge each other. It is an age gap and age reverse novel. Honestly, I was just too invested in them as individuals and as a couple to even take much notice of it. Age gap novels don’t bother me anyway. If a book is good, like this one, I don’t care about issues such as an age gap.

The book is not only character-driven but also plot driven. If you like a good sports romance with some mystery intertwined, this one should be a sure winner for you!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flynn once a pro tennis player is now a successful author and motivational speaker who has always been on her own. The only thing she has really given up on was tennis. When tennis didn’t work out Flynn turned to write about her life. When she has a run-in with a smooth-talking playboy her life just might turn her life upside down. Chavez Delgado is a pro tennis player with reckless anger issues. Chavez is at the top of his game when he must put his family first and put down the racket. At a by-chance meeting, they run into each other in their therapist’s office and set something in motion that neither can explain. Something that neither of them could imagine. This is the second book I have read by this author and just like the first, she did not disappoint with this second book. I can’t wait to see what else this author releases.

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)

I’m so throughly impressed with Ms. Rossler’s writing. There are only two books listed in her catalog, but she writes like a seasoned pro who hasn’t lost her love for what she does. The depth she gives her characters is amazing.

We are getting Flynn’s story and there is no dull moments. From the moment they meet the heat is off the charts. I personally liked the pool scene after the tennis game and needed to put the book down for a minute.

Chavez is young with a temper that is triggered by almost nothing. He finally starts getting help and that is when his life changes.

I cannot wait to read June’s book and any other books in the future.

This was a good 4 star read. I really liked both Flynn and Chavez. They meet at their therapist’s office and they hit it off from the start. Chavez is getting back into playing tennis and Flynn offers to help him. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I really enjoyed this story, you could feel the couple’s connection coming off the pages. We do get some scary moments when someone stalks Flynn. Can these two get past their issues and have a HEA? Overall I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Challenger is a story about two people who are famous (within their fields), but have a lot of baggage and no capacity for love. Chavez is a pro tennis player who over the last year has gone downhill due to family issues, separating from his fiance, and issues with rage. While waiting for his therapist, he meets Flynn, a writer and motivational speaker. Both of these individuals are not in the place to add someone to their life but are unusually drawn to each other. The two of them are honest but shady about the hardships they are going through, but they are so attracted to each other that much of these feelings are ignored and sex and attraction are replaced as the fix-all. They are both trying to regain their lives, Chavez is trying to get back to tennis and Flynn is trying to start a new writing adventure. While all this is occurring, each of them are dealing with many other problems – Chavez has no coach and issues with his parents since the breakup – Flynn is trying to deal with a stalker that has been around for over a year. They decide to explore their feelings but in a messed up way – she becomes his coach for the amateur rounds of tennis and starts to travel around the world with him. This tour around the world brings them closer and closer together and each is finding puzzle pieces to becoming whole again. Flynn however is hiding a lot of information while Chavez is basically confessing his love. Flynn starts to realize that she loves him but doesn’t want him messed up in her history. Is there a way where the past can be healed and a future of happiness can prevail?
This book was okay. I did enjoy the premise of the story, but I thought the author left some things to be desired. For example, the sexy, steamy attraction the two characters had you could tell was there but she left a lot to the imagination – I would have preferred to have it written right on the page. The chemistry between the characters was good but I didn’t really enjoy the characters themselves. I didn’t really find anything special about either of the characters. I do like how you could see Chavez become more and more vulnerable, but it was a little hard to believe in a 25-year-old kid with anger issues – I guess that development though was intriguing. Flynn was an everyday female who came across as educated, brave, and well-rounded but I felt she just took a back seat to female characters. However, I did like that the disagreement that climaxed in the book didn’t take over the entire thing – quick resolve, but believable.

I’m a sports romance junkie. This is my first dive in to the tennis world and the author did a great job describing the lingo and allowing the audience to follow along with the story line even if they know nothing about tennis. The story of Flynn and Chavez is a good romance with a little suspense intertwined to keep you on your toes. I can wait to read more of this trilogy.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so different from the 1st, that I almost entirely forgot it was a series. Rowan does an incredible job of detailing the nuances of the world her characters are part of, and you actually learn a lot of profession culture within the pages. The characters are complex, layered with well developed back stories, and realistic expectations. Each book has it’s own world that weaves in and out of the others seamlessly. The romance is steamy, the buildup is frustrating, and ultimately a HEA. I cannot wait for the third book in this series.
This book deals with a romance in the world of international tennis, the characters are diverse, and the book sprinkles in a good amount of spanglish for the reader. It makes you feel like you know Flynn and Chavez personally and have a front row seat to what they get up to. Masterful work!

Rowan Rossler knows how to entertain the masses! I loved the first in this series, The Cruiser, and this one didn’t disappoint either. In fact, I may have enjoyed it even more than the first! Flynn feels like she is a hot mess (heavy on the mess) and she isn’t looking her best when she runs into someone she least expected. Chavez is a wild tennis player who is unpredictable, but full of seductive temptations. Even though they seem like complete opposites, the chemistry between Flynn and Chavez is undeniable. The Challenger is full of steamy scenes, tension, and plenty of emotions. When you think you know where it’s going, think again. I enjoyed this book so much and I read it in record time. I highly recommend picking it up if you love sports and romance. It can be read as a standalone, but you’ll go running for the first one either way! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 Stars

I am a lover of sports romance and this is my first sports romance that involved Tennis……and the continuation of The Hustlers Trilogy with book 2 was fabulous. I recommend reading this series in order as characters are folded into the story of Chavez and Flynn in book 2.

Chavez Delgado is a tennis player that has had his share of behavior that is volatile and just unpredictable with his past always haunting him in his head. Meeting a therapist to get through the rough edges of Chavez and his behavior he unexpectedly meeting Flynn…and the smooth talking Chavez comes out. Chavez is a bit relentless when trying to ask Flynn for her phone number…and she is not buying what he is selling…well at first….but when she finally gives him time to talk.. there is another side to Chavez that intrigues her.

Flynn Dryden is a popular motivational speaker/author….but her past haunts her dearly. Flynn puts on a brave face everyday trying to live by her own words that she has in her own books but the heavy walls that she has up at all times, the guilt she feels about her past, Chavez tries to break them down without even knowing the “whys” of her walls.

When Chavez asks Flynn to become his coach, to get him “out of his head” during his tennis matches not only is there some success but the sparks are fully ignited between Chavez and Flynn, With everything going so well .. what happens when lies are piling up and the past comes out to haunt both Chavez and Flynn? Will they be able to right the wrongs and move forward through their rocky past?

This is a fantastic sports romance, with a spicy reversed aged gap, drama and the love of tennis! Highly recommended and I cannot wait until book 3!!!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was looking forward to reading The Challenger and it didn’t disappoint at all. I loved Flynn and Chavez’s story! They were great characters and even though I wasn’t 100% sure about Chavez when I first met him I definitely grew to love him. I feel like as the story progressed we began to see that there was so much chemistry between the two of them and a really lovely connection. I really liked the character progression in this story, both of our main characters had their own secrets and pasts to work through and I just felt like they really did progress as over the story. I am really excited for the final book in this series! I highly recommend this book!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous book as well. I enjoyed reading this book as much, if not more than the first. I found this book to be well written and easy to read. An entertaining story where the game of love could mean more than expected. A story where both characters have unresolved pasts and doing something wrong could just be the right thing. I enjoyed watching Flynn and Chavez grow throughout the story. Their chemistry is great and had me coming back for more. They are great characters that add so much to the story and are my favorites yet. I found their story to be fast paced and engaging. They pull you into their world from the start and keep you there until the end. You don’t want to miss what fate has in store for these two. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Flynn is a former tennis player turned motivational speaker who recently returned from her book tour. She’s a well-known speaker and writer, yet hides so much of her truth from the world. She’s determined to not let her past catch up with her, even if it means ruining all that starts to go well in her life.

Chavez was at the peak of his tennis career when he abruptly left the circuit. He is hot-headed, extremely sure of himself, and doing all he can to cover his family drama. He aspires to reach the top of his game again too.

Sparks and tension are ablaze when Flynn and Chavez meet in their therapists’ shared waiting room. Chavez wants more than a relationship with Flynn, he wants her to be his new tennis coach too. Flynn agrees, but her flight or fight response kicks in when old problems surface as things with Chavez get more intense.

I love Rowan Rossler’s writing, so it was no surprise that I enjoyed these characters and the overall story. Between the age-gap (it’s not as much of a gap as I anticipated) and everything else the characters have to navigate, it kept my attention from the very beginning. The Challenger is the second book in the series, but is easily read as a standalone. The first book, The Cruiser, is definitely worth reading if you want to fully understand the friendships and connections.

“When love meets its match, its game on!”

The Challenger is the second installment of The Hustler’s Series. Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This reverse age gap, sports romance is full of steam, spice, and suspense. When Chavez Delgado, a tennis prodigy, leaves a tennis tour unexpectedly his fans are heartbroken. Flynn Dryden, a motivational speaker, meets Chavez at just the right time and agrees to go on tour with him as his mental fitness coach. Sparks fly and the two of them have to decide if their unresolved issues can stay in the past. Will they both be able to overcome their challenges for a happily ever after?

Rowan Rossler aims to make the world a better place one love story at a time, adding a touch of spice to kick it up a notch. The Challenger will give you nothing less. Just when you think Flynn’s life couldn’t fall apart any more another piece comes crumbling down. The family drama and insecurities within this novel are heartbreaking. Rossler will send you on an emotional roller coaster so don’t forget to grab the box of Kleenex for this one. The witty banter, tension, and chemistry between Flynn and Chavez stole my heart. I highly recommend reading The Challenger. I will definitely be on the lookout for other novels by this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not quite what I expected but a good read. The characters seem a little larger than life with the name and label dropping. I get that it describes the level of money and celebrity but not my thing.

Flynn has had some hard knocks in life. She found out accidentally that she was adopted. Her birth mother died months before locating her. Her tennis career ended in a white water rafting accident on a trip that she should have never been on that also left her then boyfriend in a wheelchair. There is more but that is just the highlights. When she meets Chavez, he makes her feel things that she has not felt in a very long time. But Flynn has never been good at relationships and finds self-sabotage works well as an exit.

Chavez has never had to stop proving things in his life. He has to continue to prove to the tennis world that he deserves to be where he is, on top. A couple of recent hits in his personal life has made keeping his famous temper under control a little more difficult. That is until he meets Flynn. Flynn seems to be the thing in life that helps him keep it all together. Now Chavez just has to find a way to not only not scare Flynn off but break through all the walls she has built around herself.

When all the secrets that Flynn has managed to keep from Chavez’s all-seeing eyes threaten to derail Chavez’s rebuilt career, Flynn must find a way to let him in and save his career. I want a man so dedicated to knowing, pleasing, supporting, protecting his woman as Chavez. I am all in on him. Although I may not understand all the labels, I understand his loyalty to familia and the woman he wants to be in his life forever. Their chemistry is palpable. Totally worth the read.

Flynn Dryden is a successful author and public speaker, but she has a secret which has been causing her some anxiety and when she is in her therapist office and bumps into Chavez.

Chavez Delgado is a top athlete, but he has been having issues on the court. When he is kicked off the main ATP Cricut he starts to question his true self and can he get rid of the past that is haunting him and his game.

Once Chavez sees Flynn he instantly wants to get to know her so he puts a proposition for her to become his new Tennis Coach. Flynn has been around tennis all her life, being a child star but after a tragedy she had not picked up a racket since until Chavez walked into her world and changed everything.

Can Chavez prove he is the man for Flynn, Can Flynn put her insecurities aside and go after what she wants, and can they both resolve their pasts to be able to move into their future together.

This is the second book in this and can be read as a stand alone story, the story is well written and is a wonderful read. I loved the fiery nature of Chavez who had the grit and determination to just go after what he wanted with hungry and attack, with the passive, calming nature of Flynn balanced out the relationship. The weaving of the storylines for both of them were great to read and had you guessing and trying to uncover who the stalker was.

I loved the flow of the story and that you were drawn in as the story intense and that the subject matter was written with sensitivity and offered a loving blanket around the characters. My heart did feel for Flynn and the utter devastation her character had gone through but was happy that she overcame it and had a happily ever after. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series.

The Challenger is a great age gap (if you consider 7 years an age gap 😉) romance. Flynn and Chavez have incredible chemistry. I’ll be honest that both characters did things that made me question my feelings about them, but in the end, they worked through the challenges and that they both grew as characters is my favorite part of the book. Both Flynn and Chavez are complex people and I enjoyed learning about them. This story has not only depth and intrigue, it has heat! Chavez’s ultimatum for the Australian tournament was almost as frustrating for me as it was for Flynn!

Flynn is a motivational speaker returning from her book tour. Little do her fans know, there is a lot she is hiding from the world. A chance encounter with a hottie at her therapists’s office changes the course of the future she was planning out. But, when the past catches up with her, will she be able to face it and be honest…or will she run…again.

Chavez left the game of tennis at the peak of his career. He is doing his best to hide the drama going on in his family. When he meets Flynn..there are sparks. When he asks her to be his new coach as he returns to tour, he believes they are laying the foundation for a solid future. But…a life built on lies is easily crumbled. As he opens up to Flynn…she can’t seem to do the same. When the fight or flight response kicks in…will they fight for their relationship? Or is letting her run away the best for both of them?

I enjoyed these characters. They are both broken in their own ways and are trying to fix themselves. However, preaching honesty is the best policy and following that rule are two very different things. Flynn is hard-headed and strong-willed….but also scared and tired of the lies that seem to be compounding. Together these two are navigating a lot…an age-gap…two broken souls…a combustible connection that can be felt coming off the pages…a stalker…(the list goes on). It kept my attention from beginning to end. A good book!

This is such a good book! I loved that this was about tennis. I know nothing about tennis but the author was good about including enough information that I was able to follow along and that I feel like I actually learned something (a nice added bonus). I loved Chavez. I felt like he was a really well written character who was flawed in a really believable way. He was a tennis star who quit at the height of his career. The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga is the second book in The Hustlers Trilogy by Rowan Rossler. It follows on from book one- The Cruiser, but this story’s focus is on a different couples’ romance- each book promises to be a standalone, but with interconnected details, elements, and a few recurring characters shared within the trilogy.
Chavez was at the top of his game, making an impressive mark on the tennis world when he just up and disappeared off the scene. Flynn is a sought-after motivational speaker and professional coach who works wonders in her clients’ lives, but is weighed down by her own demons. When a chance meeting brings these two together, Chavez is making his comeback and decides he wants Flynn to be his coach and keep him on track— focused and motivated. But soon the sparks are flying, and the ‘professional’ lines become blurred. There is as much ‘action’ off the courts, as there is on…. But both have their own personal demons to deal with, so when you add in a blemished reputation, secrets, emotions, an age gap, and unresolved issues between the two, it really makes for a great read… you won’t want to miss this book as Chavez and Flynn have quite the story to tell.
This is a superb sports (tennis) romance, with a reverse age gap, opposites attract, interracial romance, chemistry, sparks, banter, intrigue, unresolved issues, suspense, angst, drama, forced proximity, taking a chance on love, overcoming challenges, and more.
The characters were developed superbly, and the story not only had an intriguing plot, but it also sizzled off the pages…. the author definitely managed to weave an unputdownable read.
Bring on Book #3!!!
Happy reading…

Thank you, Rowan Rossler!

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Challenger was so much more than a sports romance. Was there tennis, yeah. However I feel like this was one of the subplots to the main story.
The saying is “you can’t fix what isn’t broken.” Unfortunately the two main characters the author presents in this book are extremely broken. I don’t mean physically but mentally and emotionally. Which could be a trigger for someone looking for a book to read.
I’ve read sports romances in the past, and I decided to read this one because of my husband. He’s a tennis lover, I was curious as to how this would differ from the baseball, hockey, and football ones. Well being those are team sports that’s one way. Less of a support system, however I’m glad I read it. It was pretty good.
Flynn and Chavez are two people who need to let things go, to move forward. The problem is they are both in therapy because they don’t know how. Their meeting was by chance, but continuing to communicate took effort. Neither one of them likes opening up. Neither one of them is that trusting of anyone. But for some reason they push each other in a way that brings them together. Flynn agrees to be Chavez’s tennis coach to help him rebuild career. What she does is help him discover who he wants to be. Unfortunately at the same time keeping who she is tight lipped.
So the question is when does the other shoe drop? Things aren’t perfect but they are getting by, till it all comes crumbling down.
Will they survive it?
What about Chavez’s tennis career?
Well to get those answers, I’d say it’s time to give this book a chance. I enjoy sports romances but this one has some darker undertones that are intriguing. In saying that, what are you waiting for?
Enjoy!

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really good book! This is the second book in a series but to me it felt like a full standalone and I do believe it can be read by itself without missing anything from the previous book. I loved the banter between the two main characters and the spice was really well done in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Rowan Rossler If you love tennis and sports romance stories, then the Challenger is your next book to read. It is the second book in The Hustlers trilogy. I really enjoyed this story. I think I need to go back and re read and revise the first book.
Rowan has written a beautiful love story that will have your emotions going haywire and pulling on your heartstrings. The characters are easy to fall in love with and have you believing in love.
The story is sexy, filled with drama, a little angst and chemistry and let’s not forget a little mayhem. Rowans descriptive writing style is good at building the anticipation in you on what’s to come.
Game, Set, and Match all in the name of love!
Looking for an escape from the real world for a little while then put this on your TBR list.

This truly was an intriguing and captivating read. Both the fantastic main characters, Chavez and Flynn, have secrets, past demons and an unbelievable chemistry with each other which all come together to keep you turning page after page. You simply have to know what’s next! This is the second book for this series and is where I started so I will definitely be going back and reading book 1 as well. My enjoyment of this book was not effected by not having read the first book but when an author gives us something so enjoyable why not read more!
