By N.L. Holmes
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Scepter of Flint (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 3) by N.L. Holmes. It is the next story in a series that I have loved since reading the first book. It takes you back to another time and country. I am impressed by the information given about both the time that the characters live in as well as the current events that happen as well. In this story Hani finds himself trying to find out the truth behind a series of tomb robberies. He has to be careful of who he trusts as well as dodging a plague. I love the character of Lord Hani as he is a man who believes in justice and doesn’t want to see anyone unfairly charged. He also has the help of those he cares about and those that he knows he can trust. This is another fast-paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Many of the additional characters have been brought forward from the first two books and I enjoy reading about the changes to their lives. There are suspenseful moments as well as sad moments. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that you will not want to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

This is the fourth book in this series. This is a story that is full of action and suspense that I had a hard time putting down. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to get the enrichment of this series. This is a well developed story that has twists and turns that kept me turning pages. This is an engaging story that has characters that bring the story to life. This is a story that has a lot going on but the author did a good job of keeping things straight. Hani finds himself in the king’s good graces but he still must find a murderer. Is it possible for him to find justice and keep his family safe at the same time? This is such a great story that I highly recommend.

I have enjoyed this series from the first book. This one is no different. Hani is back in this story that is full of action. If you have not read this series, I highly suggest reading all of the previous books. Hani is a great character that is trying to figure out who is behind the tomb robbies plus witnesses are turning up dead. Will he figure out who is truly behind all of it? The twists and turns kept me turning pages wanting to know what was going to happen next. The characters are so supportive and made the story realistic. You don’t want to miss this book. I highly recommend it.

And then, the queen of the new coregent has a special task for him which may involve dragging Hani’s nineteen-year-old daughter into court politics. He must find a way to see justice done and yet protect his family… and his conscience.

This is the second adventure of Lord Hani, the story is a combination of egyption history and a mystery woven together in such an enjoyable way. Take your time reading so you can absorb both and get the most out of this book. As with the first in this series, Lord Hani mysteries, you will enjoy the authors research and writing style. I highly recommend these two books.

These mystery stories are set in ancient Egypt and they hook you quick. This story follows Lord Hani who is put into several situations that will affect him all at once. The author wrote an amazing storyline and the characters are easy to connect with. Highly recommend if you love historical fiction with mystery that you pick this book up.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (Lord Hani Mysteries #2)The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Crocodile Makes No Sound is the second book of N.L. Holmes’ Lord Hani Mysteries. I am blown away by the research that the writer has done and I am eternally grateful for the list of characters at the beginning of the story as I found myself going back there constantly as I tell you it is not so easy to remember the names and backgrounds as one would think! You can read the story as a standalone as it has its own storyline and what is amazing is that Lord Hani is an actual person and so many elements in the story are ‘real’, the whole story itself is fiction.
I suggest you take time when you start reading as then you can fully appreciate the details that the writer brings into her storytelling, it is like a colourful tapestry that you need to look at long and hard to truly see all the colors and connections and … the way she has with words, oh my, I have no words …
If you love history and especially Egyptian history AND mysteries then this book is for you and it pulls you in and you cannot leave it until you come to the end to see whether Lord Hani manages to resolve a conflict without too many losing their lives …

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (Lord Hani Mysteries #2)The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes is the second book in the Lord Hani Mystery series. This book can be read as a standalone book even though it follows the same MC. The author does a great job of making it so the story is easy to understand while still being gripping and exciting.
It was great to get back into the character of Lord Hani. His world feels so alien in comparison to what I am used to however I could vividly picture what the author was describing. There were times where it honestly felt like I was there with the character, in his world, experiencing what he was going through.
The story itself is intriguing and I wanted to know what was going to happen and how things would work out eventually. I was hooked by what was going on and enjoyed this story as much as the first. This was an exciting book and one I enjoyed immensely. I am looking forward to what else is to come in the series.

I loved it! The Crocodile Makes No Sound (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 2) by N.L. Holmes, was such an excellent read. This is the second book that I have read by this author. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy these books. These mystery stories set in ancient Egypt are just delightful to read from the first page to the last. Holmes crafts the story out of such beautiful use of the language. I almost forget that I’m reading a story because I get lost in her excellent writing. I almost feel like I am on those streets in Egypt. Like I’m a part of the story. An excellent story an excellent mystery and I’m already looking forward to the next one. If you love to see words used as if they were paint on a canvas this is a story for you.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (Lord Hani Mysteries #2)The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a long novel but the storyline flows along at a good pace and is full of drama and mystery and I was disappointed when I had finished it. This is book two in a series and we are back with Egyptian diplomat Hani. As I learnt from book one Lord Hani was an actual person although the storyline is fictional. It can be read as a standalone story but readers will understand Hani’s backstory better if you read the series. Again Hani makes a great main character, he is well defined and relatable as well as likeable and he really brings the plot together.  This story takes place in Egypt during the period known as the New Kingdom.
The time period is around 1346 BCE, and it’s now four years into the solo reign of Akhenaten’s solo reign and his religious ‘reforms’ are causing widespread dissatisfaction. This is especially true amongst those that practiced the old religion of Amen-Ra. Our hero Hani, is already under the kings watchful eye due to the disappearance of his Amen priest brother in law. Hani then gets drawn into an investigation involving the blackmailing of the ‘Beloved Royal Wife’. Complicating things further for Hani is the new vassal king of A’amu, who is being lodged at Hani’s house whilst waiting for the king to grant him an audience. The problem is Hani’s house guest is not proving to be very loyal to the new king. Hani is aware of his own oath to the king but must also follow his conscience.
Reading this novel I felt completely immersed in the story due to the authors wonderfully detailed descriptions of both the characters and the setting, so much so I felt I could be in ancient Egypt. The authors knowledge and research shines through, all wrapped up in a great murder mystery thriller. The historical notes, list of characters and glossary of terms and places are all very fascinating and helpful especially being at the beginning of the book as this makes it easy to refer back to if needed. I was hooked from start to finish and I enjoyed the cosy mystery element of the story which kept me guessing until the end of the novel. I look forward to further books in this series.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (The Lord Hani Mysteries #2) by N.L. Holmes

This is the second book in The Lord Hani Mystery Series, but can be read as a standalone. Holmes has a way of bringing any of her characters to life. I enjoy all her books.

Hani is at it again, but this time it involves several royals. Things get dangerous once again when his family is involved. His brother-in-law goes missing and no one knows where he went.

Hani has his family move to the farm house as they don’t feel safe at home. Things get tough when Hani is summoned by the Queen. The quote I chose for Hani is: “It’s going to be hard for anyone to follow me through the crowds of merrymakers today. Once I’m in the country, I’ll be able to see whoever’s around as easily as they can see me.”

If you like crime books then this is one for you. I highly recommend it.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes is the second book in The Lord Hani Mysteries Book series. I recommend reading the first book in the series prior to this one. In this book Lord Hani has his tons on his plate, there are multiple situations going on which affect him all at once. His character is becoming more developed as the series progresses, and I am getting more interested in learning more about him. Also, I love the fact that this is set during the times of ancient Egypt. This takes this story in a very different direction than if it took place in more contemporary days. I look forward to reading more from this series and this author in the future.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N. L. Holmes a fascinating four-star read. This is number two in the Lord Hani Investigations and I have read them in order and enjoyed them this way, you could read them as sand-alone, but I would recommend reading them in order as they build and develop the characters and you add depth the more you read. I’m not normally one for a historical story, but this series has gripped me, and the cosy mystery aspect has great and the scene descriptions have been enthralling. The author has a great way of keeping you able to keep everything on track even when there are multiple characters all trying to but in and take part in the story, you can easily keep up. Bring on number three as I am eagerly waiting.

This is the second story in the Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L. Holmes. The story has historical fiction, mysteries, and cozy mysteries. I found myself turning the pages quicker than the previous one. The story had some elements for only a certain character. This was well written so that I did not get confused but it enhanced the storylines. The characters were fully developed and true to the time period for what it was written in. The attention to detail in not only the storyline but in the character details as well. If you love history and mysteries, you will enjoy this story as well. I highly recommend reading the first book as well to get the full enjoyment of the Lord Hani series.

Once again there is a lot going on within the story, but NL does a great job of shaping it all together. The Crocodile Makes No Sound is the second book in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L Holmes. This is another cosy, historical mystery set in ancient Egypt.
We met Hani, a diplomat, in the first book- and team up with him once more as this mystery plays out. With blackmail, politics, religion, and mystery all woven together, it makes for an interesting read. We are transported to the time of Akhenaten- which the author does a brilliant job of recreating and bringing to life.
As with the first book in the series, the author’s knowledge and passion for the period really shines through in the story and through her writing. This passion certainly added to the ‘richness’ of the story.
Looking forward to seeing what Hani gets up to in Book Three!

Thank you, N.L Holmes!

Bird In A Snare is the first book in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L Holmes. This is an historical mystery set in ancient Egypt, which the author does an excellent job of recreating and bringing to life. I could feel the authors passion for the period shine through in her writing, which added to the whole atmosphere of the story.
Hani is a fantastic character, who along with the rest of the cast, help to bring this story alive. He is a loving father, husband, and a respected diplomat. This mystery begins when he is sent to far away Syria, uncovering a murder which could bring a great political backlash.
