Four Stars

That lady was a total witch. I understand wanting to protect your family but she was obsessed and extremely possessive. Victoria needs nerves of steel and an abundance of patience. This story had all the fears women thing about come to life. We all fear disappointment and never being enough. I didn’t like Brad a whole lot. He didn’t show any willingness to put a stop to his mom’s craziness. The author presented this story very well. The author included an softness and warmth but placing Victoria in a position where she had to care for a child that was not her own. A good read for some laughter and crazy.

This book is the physical manifestation of the fear every girl has when she is searching for her potential life long partner. Evil Mother-In-Law.. Victoria feels that she has got it all. Handsome man, handsome house, handsome life, or so she thinks, until she meets her mother-in-law…who is straight up evil. I mean, there is Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th Evil and then there is this woman. This book is incredibly suspenseful. As the plot thickens and the details unravel, you will find yourself flipping, (or in my case tapping) the pages faster and faster to find out what happens. When secrets of Brad and his Mother start to unfurl, Victoria starts to understand that this isn’t at all what she signed up for when she said Till death do us part.

This author created a very suspenseful and detailed story. I was drawn in from the very first chapter. I loved every last minute of it. Highly recommended.

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore was a suspenseful read that kept you on the edge of your seat. At times, I could not turn that pages quick enough to see what was to happen next – I was completely involved in the continuing story. Victoria and Brad had a love that couldn’t be ignored and they both grabbed on to it and pursued that relationship to it’s fullest. The drama immediately begins as they moved forward to spend their lives together – enter the mother-in-law. Judy Moore has given the allure of evil incarnate in this story in the form of a mother-in-law. However, not everyone sees the facade that is seen from the outside. The story continues to build and you really don’t know which way the author will have the story climb to until it all comes to a peak. Truly a well written suspense with a remarkable ending.

I give The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore, 4 stars.

Victoria can’t believe what she just did. She got married to a man she’s only known about a month — in Vegas no less! But there is something about Brad. She fell in love with him right away and goes with her instinct. So she says I Do, quits her job and packs up her former life to move across the country to Florida. She knows Brad has a son and a mother and she is anxious to meet them both. She quickly realized that she jumped in without looking. Brad’s mother is a piece of work. She can’t seem to let Brad go. Is it just the pain of him some belonging to someone else? Or does go much deeper than that?

This was an interesting book. I have to admit, I didn’t know just what to expect. The “evil mother-in-law” has been done many times. But this book does it with a twist. I can’t really say too much without giving anything away, but the ending was surprising and yet satisfying too. The characters were very realistic. I could them being a family I read about in the newspaper.

A suspenseful, gripping story, I highly recommend this book.

I literally had chills reading this book. The author has really written a very twisted spine chilling book
that makes my mother-in-law look tame. I really found this author’s writing style to be refreshing and a step out of my comfort genre was really nice.

The characters are very relatable. I found myself drawn into the world and it felt as though I was Victoria. I really could relate with a mother-in-law who doesn’t like the wife, but this one really made me see just how fortunate I was. This book is very well written and all be it twisted with the plot it was a great read. I admit I don’t normally go for this type of book but I was very glad to have read it and gotten out of my normal genre. I would read more from this author in future.

The Mother in Law is a great read from Judy Moore. This is my first book from this author, and after reading this book I would definitely buy more of her work.
I found the book to be a little slow to begin with, as the author laid the foundations to the story- there was some information that really wasn’t needed, a lot of details that slowed the flow and just seemed to draw out/prolong the lead up into the story. The book is promoted as a thriller, but I felt that it was more ‘suspenseful’ and didn’t quite make it to thrilling, because there needed to be more tension, drama, intrigue and gripping developments earlier on in the plot to make it a true ‘thrilling’ experience. Having said that though, this story is still very good, and I would recommend it as I did enjoy reading it. I was shocked at how evil, conniving, deceitful and vicious the mother in law was, and the last half of the book held my attention completely as the story unfolded.
I was rooting for Victoria, Brad and Andy- but Brad frustrated me at times when he couldn’t see how his mother was manipulating everything and everyone. Even when things were revealed, he still didn’t take real decisive action. I just wanted to shake him and tell him to get his act together.
I look forward to reading more from Ms. Moore in the future.

Thank you, Ms. Moore!

The Mother In Law by Judy Moore was so much more than the synopsis indicated. I believe there were a few times when I actually gasped while reading it, especially at the end. What an ending it was too. I’m not sure what I was expecting before I read this book but it was beyond anything I could have expected or imagined.

There are so many things I could say about the characters and the story itself but I don’t know if I would be able to do it justice with my description and I’m afraid of spoiling something. This is a love story with many layers of others things.

This book is a must read if you like love with some mystery and a lot of oh my goodness.

The Mother-in-Law was a thrilling and creepy 5 star read.

Victoria and Brad met in Las Vegas during training and end up with a quicky wedding. Brad takes Victoria home to Florida where she meets his mom and son, Andy. Lets just say his mother is quite interesting.

The home they have is right on the beach and is beautiful. Victoria is ready to move forward with her new family, but mother has other plans. And she finds out from Brad that mommie dearest owns the house they are all living in she is not happy. This could not be happening -Victoria

Things seem to go well for awhile than all heck breaks loose. Be prepared for some twists and turns and edge of your seat moments. I was floored at some of the things that happened.

I instantly disliked Brad’s mother, she was controlling and evil. I didn’t like how she treated Andy at all. Brad also pushed my buttons as well, it was like he just didn’t get what was happening at times and he needed a backbone when it came to his mother. The ending OMG, I didn’t see any of it coming. This is my first read from Judy Moore and I was pulled right in, I can’t wait to read more from her.

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore was an okay read about how boundaries can get blurry and how obsession can turn deadly.

Not my first read by this author, so I was excited to get my hands on this read. It played out kind of how I expected but still a pretty okay read overall.

I have to say, I wasn’t as drawn in as I was with this author’s other works. For a fast read, I found the build up a little too blunt and straightforward, and there wasn’t much mystery. There was so much that could have been done, and for me, this read kind of missed the mark.

The overall plot was good, I liked the characters, the twist, turns and, I very much liked the ending. There is a bit of a creep factor and, I think with a bit more work this book can rise up from just being an okay read to, something special. The actual writing is pretty good, a little choppy here and there, but I liked the flow and tone. Right away you know this isn’t going to be light hearted, and once the actual sinister plot got under way, I enjoyed the story that much more.

Overall this book has promise, and I do recommend you give it a go. Like I said the plot is good, and the twist and turns are engaging and interesting. Though I have mixed feelings, you might have a completely different reaction. So please take my recommendation and my approval, that this book will give you the creep factor and have you questioning when a seemly platonic relationship is normal, or abnormal.

Happy Reading

The stories gets to the point right away, everything is laid out clearly and concisely so I wasn’t bogged down by too much detail and it kept me entertained from beginning to end.

I would read this author again and I recommend this story if you are looking for a quick suspense.

It was one of those story’s that had me on the edge of my seat and more often than not I was surprised at how thing were being played out. All is well and perfect for Victoria. She had a new husband and will soon be in a new home and in a new town. And all seems like a wonderful dream. That is until she meets her mother in law. And life is turned upside down and into a nightmare. This book was suspensful and had well developed characters and I was pulled in by the plot the moment I read the book description. I am an absolute sucker for clickbait lists and horrible mother in law stories are some of my favorite. So obviously I saw this book was immediately like “I need this”. Maybe I like stuff like this so much because my mother in law is one of the sweetest women I’ve ever met. IDK
My first thought in this was why would anyone ever get married after knowing someone for only a month? My husband and I got married after dating for 8 years! Victoria just decides she’s ready to be a wife and a mother? Girl is entitled to her opinion but the mother in law she didn’t know was going to be living with sure made her question that decision. Victoria gets tangled in the web of lies that Madeline is weaving, while Brad remains willfully ignorant. There were so many times I just wanted to shake Victoria by her shoulders and tell her to drop everything and leave that house while she still could of her own will!
I definitely got just a pinch of Skeleton Key and Norman Bates in this book and I would recommend it to almost anyone.

I was drawn into this story of suspense as soon as I started reading. Victoria is a very relatable character and she just wants to be accepted into her new husband’s life and family, and I think most of us can relate to that. As soon as Victoria meets her new mother in law she notices how uptight she seems and not very friendly. As the story continues there are disturbing family secrets revealed and you can’t help but to keep turning the pages to find out what’s going to happen. How far will Madeline go to sabotage her son’s new marriage. This is a must read it will keep you on the edge of your seat through the entire story. I highly recommend this book.

I finished this book yesterday and had to let my mind process what I read before I wrote this review. This is my second book by this author and I think I have some of the same feelings as after finishing the first one I read. Definitely a great mystery involving some of the characters in this story and even though it had a whirlwind romance involved, the way it was written made it feel very real, not forced.

I lost my mother-in-law a few years back and our relationship was never the greatest since I took her youngest of 7 sons, it still made me wish I could hug her by the time I finished reading this story. I guess the only seriously confusing part was, why in the heck did it take Victoria so long to make the decisions she made. I wouldn’t have lasted a day!

I’m not going to go into any detail regarding this story..You have to read it to truly appreciate it, and I can absolutely see this book becoming a made for TV movie. The ending had me wanting to scream, throw my kindle, and cry all at the same time.

This author has become someone I look forward to reading. She messes with your mind and you don’t even realize it is happening while your reading. I Love That.

Can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

This was a one sitting read for me…Loved It!!

The Mother-in-LawThe Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore is a suspense thriller novel that would be more aptly titled monster-in-law. This book is the perfect poster child for why you should never marry someone that you haven’t known more than a month. Which is exactly what Victoria does. Too her it was a fairy tale; she found true love and put a ring on it as fast as she could. But not all fairy tales have a happy ending, especially if there’s an estranged mother-in-law.
This was slow thriller book. It took a long time for suspense to build and motivations to be revealed, which after a while began to drag. I wish there was more suspense to this book, and there was more of a payoff in the end. A lot of the chapters felt as though they were acting as fillers to make the book chunkier, and didn’t add anything to the plot. Especially when comparing this book to Judy Moore’s Murder in the Vail, which had me hooked from the very beginning. In the end I found that I had no real connection to any of the characters, and their relationships didn’t affect me. Which truly is a shame, as I fell in love with the premise of the story, thinking I was in for book filled to the brim with suspense, but instead it all fell flat for me. I still loved the writing, and level of detail that went into in the book, as well as thought the idea was very creative, it just could have been executed a bit better. Alas, I still look forward to reading more from Judy Moore in the future.

I was unsure what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book. All seems idyllic when we meet our main character. Then enter the mother in law. This study on human emotion and character development was gripping and haunting. Not my typical pick in the suspense category; however, I felt the author wrote a compelling tale and one that is quite a study of human character. Interesting story. The Mother-in-Law is a shocking psychological thriller by Judy Moore. It is a story that will astound, anger and impress you. Astound you in the way a sinister mind works. Anger you because of the audacity and evilness that lurked on top of the surface, but is completely looked over by some. Impress you with the intricately twisted and spellbinding way in which it is written.

A young woman does the seemingly innocent thing of falling in love. It should have been the best time of her life, and it started out so well, but then she met the Mother-in-Law. Harsh and cold, it wasn’t easy getting to know her, but our leading lady persevered and wanted to have a good, healthy relationship with her. But things did not add up, and no matter what our lady did, it was frowned upon. The leading man just wanted everyone happy, and sometimes just did what he needed to keep the peace. A thrilling read that frustrated me immensely, but kept me riveted to these words.

The Mother-in-Law was astonishingly and powerfully written. Many eye popping scenes that defied human compassion and feelings for man and family. It illustrates the ugly nature of a psychopath, and the lack of conscience these monsters display. A mind twisting suspenseful drama that had me glued to each word. 5 stars.

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore is one heck of a read. All I can say is thank god I do not have a mother-in-law. The book is a suspense with lots of drama and a truly evil and vicious, mother-in-law that is a manipulating, conniving, lying witch. It was a bit slow in the beginning but quickly gained my attention as the story unfolded a few twists and turns along the way. You will either like or hate the characters or have a love/hate relationship with others.

The relationship Brad has with his mother was just weird, almost creepy and I so wanted, no needed, to slap some sense into him. Victoria on the other hand is one brave lady and I admired her will.

The ending was sad but intense and I was a little surprised with some and others I saw coming. All in all it was a quick and interesting read.

The story The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore is a book that I loved reading. It is suspenseful and had times when I was turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. I got hooked into the story early on and didn’t want to put it down until I had finished reading it. I enjoyed reading about the main character and how she is so happy when she marries. She is looking forward to the future. Then she meets her mother-in-law. From there she goes through many different emotions as she works to adapt and start her new life. This character is one that I could have empathy for as she starts to become overwhelmed and she begins to uncover secrets about her new family. She has doubts and suspicions. The mother-in-law in this story is harsh with her speech and makes life uncomfortable for those around her. This is a story that had me on the edge of my seat. There is intense dialogue and situations. If you are looking for a thrilling book to read, look no further.

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore – Review by Carrie Reed

The Mother-in-LawThe Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore is a great 5 star psychological book. The characters were all very well written and the story line was fantastic.

Brad and his mother were the most annoying characters. I hated how Brad let his mother slide on everything, thinking she was always right. Brad’s mother Madeline is a real piece of work. She is a terrible human being and so conniving and vindictive, but she adds so much to this story.

Victoria is sweet, I really liked her character and how after marrying Brad she jumped right in to the mother role with his son. I really enjoyed watching her figure out that her mother in law was a big pile of crazy and trying to piece all the secrets the family had together.

In the end, all the family’s secrets come out and I was surprised by some but not by some others. I hated that Andy, Brad’s son, could remember different things and basically helped Victoria put the final pieces together. I was on the fence about the ending, I was pleased but also kind of sad at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good psychological mystery. This is usually not my type of genre but after this book I am itching to read more like this.

The Mother-in-LawThe Mother-in-Law by Judy Moore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Mother-In-Law by Judy Moore is suspenseful romance story. This is my first book by this author and I fully enjoyed it. I enjoyed how her writing style was easy flowing and engaging. Her attention to details made me feel like I was right there with the characters. Her characters are both connectable and true to life. They took me on a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and had me on the edge of my seat a few times. This is the story as a man and woman who meet in Las Vegas. They get married after a short time and he moves her back to his house. What he doesn’t tell her is that he has a five year old son and he lives with his mother. There are secrets lurking and they may not be good. Relationships may not be as they seem, what will happen when all is exposed? There are things that he never told her, will she leave when she finds out? At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to think about these characters. You have a woman who marries a man and doesn’t know him. You have a man who doesn’t want to stand up for himself and is willing to be pushed around. Then you have the mother in law who is completely nasty and is out to get the woman. I enjoyed all of them because they made up the story and without these characters the story wouldn’t be the same. But I thought maybe there could be a little more to them then there was. Find out if this mother in law will finally get her new daughter in law out of her house or if the daughter in law will convince her husband to leave. I highly recommend this book as it has a little bit of everything in it. I found myself wanting to know what would happen next and you will find yourself the same way.
