Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December
By Jane Suen

This story picks up a few months after Flowers in December end, and takes us further into Conners journey after his mom’s passing. He is trying to honor his mom’s memory by going back home. There is hope, forgiveness, new and old friends. This is a sweet story and I loved it even more than the first one. The author does a great job pulling you into the story and making you feel all the emotions the characters are experiencing right along with them. Even though this is a short quick read it’s definitely full of emotion and an all around wonderful book. I highly recommend this book.

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December is written by Jane Suen. It is a fitting follow on from Flowers in December, and another great and riveting story.

Coming Home is a magical story of Connor and Mary Ann, Alana and Dottie. Loss, sadness, hopelessness all feature in their story. But love is a funny little creature. You find it the oddest of places, when you least expect it. Each character has there load to carry, and the author pens it out intriguingly and smartly. A great story to disappear into, with a cast that is easy to like, frustrating at times, always giving more to their audience. A quality story that just kept getting better. 4 stars.

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December
By Jane Suen

Coming home is the heart-warming sequel to Flowers in December, Now I wouldn’t read Coming Home until you have read Flowers in December or you probably won’t be able to follow the sequel and you will miss out on loads of information. Some of the characters from Flower in December are also in Coming Home. Just like the first book this one is also a short read, but you will not want for anything story wise. This book has multiple points of views which to me makes the storyline even better. If you are looking for a new author, I really do recommend you pick up Jane’s books you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Jane, for yet another heart wrenching story I LOVED Flowers in December and Coming Home equally.

  1. I feel like all of my reviews on Jane Suen’s writing are always the same. Jane Suen is a captivating storyteller with a voice that is soft and almost poetic to me. There has never been a piece of writing that I’ve read by this author and didn’t love, despite them all being so different.
Until reading Coming Home, I thought Flowers in December was my favorite. This book exceeded all of my expectations! I loved being reunited
with characters from the first book and seeing where life has taken Connor and Tom!
As always, I’ll be keeping an eye out for more form Jane Suen.

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coming Home, by Jane Suen, is the second book in the Flowers in December series. This book continues Connor’s story as he moves beyond the death of his mother. The author has done a remarkable job of including so much emotional attributes within this short story, similar to the rawness that was experienced in the first book, yet at the same time it felt more defined. The holiday dynamic adding more depth to this novella along with the hope of what many hope to accomplish over the holidays – forgiveness, renewal and the hope of something more. Jane Suen is a talented author and her talent continues to grow with each additional book that is written.

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about moving on. Connor Norton returns to his home town after grieving for the death of his mother. Whilst there, he bumps into Mary Ann, hoping to resume their friendship from the previous novel. But too much time has passed and she is moving on with her life. Can he move on with his life too?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Connor dealing with his grief but still kind underneath or Mary Ann doing what she loves but standing up for herself. Great cast of supporting characters like the supportive Norma or the old friend Alana. I loved the sweet bubbly nature of Ron and his enthusiasm for nature was a lovely touch. Connor’s grief was beautifully written, as he remembers Christmases with her in sweet reminiscences that hit him from nowhere, emotive and sad and sweet.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the Christmas feel of the town with its string lights and trees full of life and people. Or the sense of the small town with its little shops and streets where everyone knows each other and where things are the same even after years away which was perfectly written. Or the little coffee shop with its colourful decorations of red and green and ivy and holly bright and jolly in vivid colours, beautifully written.
I also liked the use of dates in the chapter titles, which was a great addition to fuel the Christmas feel of the novel and time passing and also helping with the backstory of Alana for the flashbacks to work well with the narrative of the present. Overall, a wonderful read and I would give it five stars.

Coming Home: the sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen is a story of one man who after the death of his mother is learning to deal with his grief. In order to pull himself out of his funk he has decided to leave his old life behind and start a new where he grew up. With old friends and new he celebrates the season of his first christmas without his mother. It is a very quick but emotional read. Jane is a master at never doing what you think should be and always leaves me a little frustrated. But having said that she always writes from the heart and that is infused within her words in her stories.

Read and enjoy but you need to read the first book Flowers in December first.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this pop up on my feed. I had absolutely adored Flowers in December and was left wanting more, not with loose ends, but still wanting some more of Connor and what would come next for him. This was that and so much more. We just happen to get a lot more than we may have even bargained for. I would highly recommend that you read the first book, Flowers in December before devouring this one, everything will flow and make sense so much more. This one is obviously a holiday/Christmas story but I really feel as is I will be pulling this gem out any time of year, whenever I need an emotional and yet encouraging read. I almost feel as if these two books together would create a great Hallmark Christmas movie. I can’t wait to find out what will come next from Jane Suen! I am sure it will fantastic whatever it will be, and on my to be read list! Happy reading!

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December By Jane Suen. This is an incredible heartwarming story about forgiveness and more. From Page one I knew I was in for a wonderful story. The characters are relatable and you find yourself really pulling for them. The author knows how to to pull on the heartstrings of readers. I definitely found myself on an emotional roller coaster but it’s so worth it. I couldn’t put it down until the very end. I’m gladly giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone. It’s a short read but it definitely shouldn’t be missed!

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen was a sweet fast-paced novella. Coming Home was told from multiple points of view and I recommend that you read Flowers in December to get a better understanding of what’s happening.

It has been four months since Connor’s mother’s death and he has decided to come home for his first Christmas without her. He runs into an old face and someone he has thought about for months but has that person moved on?

This was a wonderfully written novella. But I need more, you left me wanting to know what is going to happen next.

Coming Home by Jane Suen is the sequel to the great Flowers in December. This book does really need to be read in order as it continues on from book one.
It is a relatively short read, just like the first, but it has everything in it you could want.
After reading the blurb I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel throughout this book but the author does an brilliant job with it. It is highly emotional and packs so much into a small story. The characters all seem to have such a depth to them that carries the story well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish.

I have read a couple of books from this talented author and she keeps on surprising me. This is the second book in the Flowers of December series. I absolutely love a good self healing story but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is a short book but it has it all. I devoured this incredible story in only a couple of hours.

Connor Norton finds himself back to his hometown. He left for a few months to grieve is mother’s passing. Connor still feels lost without her but her cat Tom makes him feel better. He is happy when he runs into Mary Ann again. Connor cares about her and he wants to start over again. He is still trying to find himself again as well. Will coming home help him with his life or will it make it even more upsetting?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, hope, healing, and forgiveness. You will fall in love with these characters all over again. Connor is lost without his mom. He thinks that coming back home will give him closure so he can move on. Mary Ann is living her dream but she wishes she had someone to share it with. She is still upset with Connor but a Christmas miracle could happen. I can’t wait to see what this amazing author will have for us next.

Coming Home is Book 2 in the series. Some characters in this book were in the previous book. Connor was living in the city with his moms cat, working and not paying much attention to the cat. Now he’s back home at his mothers house and is trying to relive happy memories. Will he be able to get the cat to be important to him? Is Tom sick or just as heartbroken as Connor? Christmas was always a great holiday he spent with his mom. He spends the holiday making new memories especially for another family who has not seen each other or heard from each other in many years. I thought the book was ok. The writing was good but, I wasn’t really into the story

Coming Home written by Jane Suen is the sequel to Flowers in December. This was a pretty quick read but full of so many powerful moments. Conner returns home after his mother’s death and decides to come to terms with everything. In order to heal you have to forgive and move on, but can he do that? This story is so cute for what it is and it will make you think once your finished reading it. I love the characters and the storyline, I would suggest reading book one first but you would still enjoy the story if you didn’t.

Jane Suen is one of those authors who doesn’t have a formula for how a story is written. I’ve read many of her stories, and each is different from the other – she writes with a poetic style that is ripe with metaphors and stylist visuals.

On 12/14/18 I lost my mother and as I read COMING HOME I wasn’t sure what to expect. This is the sequel to Flowers in December so I knew what the basic premise would be and I was a little worried that my heart would break a little more. This story did the opposite for me.

It’s a tale of healing and moving on. A beautiful telling of putting a life back together. It’s a lovely and quick Christmas story that I read and enjoyed in one sitting.

I recommend this story and this author.

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Coming Home is the sequel to Flowers in December by author Jane Suen and takes place four months after the ending of the previous story. This is a story of finding yourself and knowing sometimes what you really need is what you have left behind. Set over the Christmas holiday, Connor Norton decides to honor his mother’s memory and embrace his memories as well as his hometown. Along the way Connor re-familiarizes himself with old friends, possible new love and family tabby, Tom.
This was a sweet story continuing Connor’s journey of grief and growth following his mom’s passing. It was a unique way of showing that yes, you really can go home, not to mention that in order to make amends sometimes you need to be the person to make the first move, swallow your pride and just admit that you were wrong. Things may not go quite like you planned but just because one path has ended does not mean that another is not opening for you. I enjoyed this story and hope that Ms. Suen continues Connor’s journey.

Coming Home by Jane Suen is the sequel to Flowers in December. The story picks up with Connor returning to his childhood home for the holidays after the passing of his mother. I recommend reading the first book because it goes into the background and the characters before delving into this story. This is an emotional read and proves it is good to return home sometimes. Connor is great and I like that he is dealing with loss but also moving on with his life. Mary Ann, Dottie, and Alana are great also. I really like the story and that there were some twists to break away from the expected. The book is a quick read and relatively short but impactful. I look forward to reading more from Jane Suen in the future.

Reading Jane Suen’s books is like a quick dose of therapy – a short hug that you need at the end of a busy week. Coming Home is no exception. This is the sequel to Flowers in December and centres around Connor coming home to his home town for Christmas, several months after his grief-stricken departure following the death of his mother. When he was last in town he had struck up a friendship with florist Mary Ann but would his return rekindle that spark, or had she moved on in his absence? Can he help Alana, his childhood friend who is also coming home after a long absence? I won’t spoil it for you… read and find out!
Jane’s novels are shorter than those I normally read but that doesn’t put me off, because she crafts such lovely characters and a warm setting that the reader doesn’t need pages and pages to get into the mood of the novel. I can empathise with the characters and cheer for them to get their happy endings almost immediately. Although I have never been to small -town America, the descriptions make it easy to imagine myself walking down the street and popping into the coffee shop.
A lovely heart-warming read.

I loved this book! It is a sweet Christmas story that pulled at my heartstrings and will yours too. It is about forgiveness, finding love and the feeling of happiness. The characters are awesome and the journey they took me on was an emotional roller coaster that I just couldn’t put down until the end. Mary Ann, Alana, Connor and Ron bring the story to life for me, they are so true to life and connectable. I found myself rooting for all of them to find their happiness. A must read!
