5 Star The Way You Are ( Carolina Connections Book5) by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth book in the the Carolina Connections series.i recommend reading the other books in this series as well ,although this can be read as a standalone. This is a hilarious romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. The story flows and her characters are very well developed. I think this is my favorite from this series.Brett and Liv oh my! These two especially liv had me chuckling at times.From the “friends” zone to crush. Can these two get out of the friend zone? Is there a future for these two? Find out what happens next I highly recommend reading this book. I can’t wait to read the next Book by this author.

This is the fifth book in the “Carolina Connections” series and can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.
As with the other stories in this series, THE WAY YOU ARE is a classic rom-com. The story has a great group of friends, romance,new beginnings, and a dog that is almost bigger than the MC.
This is a quick story with a smart woman, a not “classically alpha guy”, a couple of ball players, and a character who (like me) is obsessed with Olivia Newton John.
I absolutely recommend this author, this books and this series.

The Way You Are is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections series and it is just as good as the first books. I was really looking forward to this book when i found out it was coming out and i wasn’t disappointed at all! I loved it. It was cute and funny and the main characters are very like-able and funny. Liv has all she needs in life… well mostly. She has a hot boyfriend who plays baseball and the bedroom time between the two is awesome. Buts is it love? This was a sweet and hilarious romance. I could not put this book down. I loved both Brett and Liv’s characters. This book can also be read as a standalone. From friend zone to crush, mixed in with a little baseball, the two have their own battles to handle a long the way. The storyline was easy to follow and I loved that Liv was a vet. Brett’s personality was awesome. He reminds me a lot of my husband. Excellent novel!

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth installment of The Carolina Connections series. This story is a romantic comedy about Liv and Brett. Liv is not only beautiful, she smart and her boyfriend is a local baseball player. She meets Brett at one of the local baseball games her boyfriend and cousin was playing. Brett is handsome and always placed on the “friend zone,” girls always see him as great friend. As the saying goes, girls can’t be friends with boys, might just backfire on Liv and Brett. Will the opportunity arise for these two to finally hook up? Sylvie Stewart writes a seamless storyline that captures you attention from the beginning, from the chapter titles to the sarcasm. Characters are well developed and easy to hate or love, depending who they are in the story. I have read other books from this series and I enjoyed reading this installment. I recommend reading from the first book to learn more about each of the characters that are represented in each book.

This is the first book I have read from this author and wow she blew my mind. I absolutely love a good friend to lovers story but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the fifth book of the Carolina Connection series. You can read this book as a stand alone just like I did but there are other characters in this story as well. I was hooked on this storyline right from the beginning. It only took me a little over a few hours to devour this incredible book.
Olivia loves her life, a hot boyfriend, really good friends, and exceeding in school. She goes to a baseball game and she runs into a very handsome guy. Olivia feels a connection to him but she is seeing someone. She wants this guy in her life so she offers him to be friends. Olivia gets to know the real Brett and she realizes that she has crush on this guy. She can’t get Brett out of her mind but she has a boyfriend. Olivia can tell that Brett wants to be more than friends. Will Olivia and Brett stay friends or can they be more?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all, hot romance, humor, and baseball. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Olivia is a sweetheart that knows what she wants. She can be a little fiery when she needs to be. Brett is a nice guy that always gets put into the friend zone. He is very sweet and handsome. The way he treats Olivia will make your heart melt. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you on your toes until the end. After reading this book I now want to know more about these other characters. I will be starting this series from the beginning.

The Way You Are (Carolina Connections Book 5) is by Sylvie Stewart. This book immediately had me hooked and I just couldn’t put it down. And was very sad when it was over! I’ll be going back to read the others for sure though. I read this as a standalone without any confusion but like I said I’ll be getting the others for sure. I love stories about the “underdog “ friend leaving the friend zone. It reminds me of my own love story. These two characters drew me into their world and I had so much fun watching them interact. Their chemistry jumps off the pages. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters you enjoy. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it.

I have to say I have a slight obsession with Sylvie Stewart’s Carolina Connections series. They are the BEST laugh out loud books that have a whole ton of heart that I have read in a long time. Each one of these books can be read as a standalone but I HIGHLY suggest reading them all!
I loved Brett. He’s up for having a relationship but just can’t find the right woman to fill that spot so he takes up time by living the bachelor life and playing baseball. Liv is a die hard fan and is a loud one at that. Her heckling has made Brett turn his attention on her and the sparks flew BUT she has a boyfriend. Being friends is all he’ll get but the attraction is undeniable.
I loved the characters and the witty banter they have. This was a delicious and hilarious slow burn that everyone needs to read!

This was a very enjoyable read. I just couldn’t pull myself away from my kindle until I reached the end. I loved the banter between the characters. They had me laughing out loud on many occasions or smiling like the joker! The story line was brilliant, certainly is a page turner and kept me on my toes throughout. It’s one of those novels that once you start you just lose yourself in the pages and you visualize yourself right there. It takes you away from reality that’s for sure. I can’t wait to read more from this author!!

The Way You Are (Carolina Connections Book 5) by Sylvie Stewart is another remarkable story that is fun and captivating. It is a quick read that is an enthralling page turner and is told in several POV’s, which I love. It is a little quirky in its telling as is Sylvie’s way and her characters will find their way into your heart. The main characters are wonderfully cute as they dance around one another.
Brett is a gentleman who is sweet and adorable and every woman’s dream. Liv is a bad arse and far from shy, she loves what she does and those she is loyal to. Together they are hilarious and so so sexy mexy and hot, hot, hot, if only they can get on the same page.
This is an easy, light and fun read that absolutely needs to be on your read list.

The Way You Are is the fifth book in The Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This book can be read as a standalone, but I don’t have one reason why you would want to skip the first four. They are all excellent reads with all the feels, and this story is no exception. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I stayed up half the night finishing it (definitely worth losing sleep over). This book features Liz and Brett’s story. It is witty and sweet, heartwarming and heartbreaking at time. I’m totally drawn to these characters and Ms. Stewart really makes you feel like you are right there with them. I love it when a book makes me laugh out loud or reach for a tissue and this book fitthat requirement. This is book five in the series The Carolina Connections but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is an easy going romance with not too much drama. I’ve been reading some intense books lately and this was a nice respite. This is my first book from this author and it was quite enjoyable. I will be looking forward to reading more of her books. The main characters were well rounded and likeable ( maybe not so much Troy). The secondary characters were interesting as well. I’m assuming they were in the books prior to this one. I liked that Brett wasn’t portrayed as a Greek god/ billionaire stud. He was good looking and fit but he was also pierced and tattooed yet wasn’t a “bad boy”. He was respectful, smart and had a good job. He is a walking contradiction. All this to say that I loved him. Luv was great, she made me laugh on several occasions. They both had amazing personalities with chemistry that continued to build throughout the story.
I was delighted with the baseball aspect of the story. I love baseball and football so when I get to read a book that involves either sport, I am thrilled. The humour and witty banter definitely made this a fun read. I highly recommend it.

The Way You Are is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections written by Sylvie Stewart and I have read every book in this series and I loved them. Ms. Stewarts writing just gets better with each story/book. The characters are crazy but fun crazy that feed of the crazy. They are well developed and we even get to see our favorite couples from the first few books. Brett MacKinnon, is a nice guy and a frequent resident of the friend zone. He has terrible taste in woman. So when Brett hears this tiny little girl with the booming voice he goes and talks to her. He is determined to ditch the friend zone and show her he is boyfriend material. Too bad the position’s already been filled by a ball-playing caveman who could flatten him with his pinky. LIV: There are really only three things she needs in life: sex, baseball, and winning. Her hot boyfriend and season tickets take care of the first two, while she always do her best to cover the last. So developing an unexpected crush on a new friend is more than a little inconvenient. She doesn’t have anything but friendship to offer Brett, but with the way he looks at her, and makes her feel things he has her wishing she did. BRETT: Has been put in the friend zone so often, they’ve got a sandwich named after him. You’d think he’d be used to it by now. But when it comes to the delectable Liv and he will pull out all the stops to show her he is the guy for her. The Way You Are was a good 4 star read and book five in the Carolina Connections series.
Brett meets Liv at a baseball game but quickly finds out that she has a boyfriend who plays for the team. Brett was quickly put in the friend zone with Liv.
The friendship grows between these two and his attraction to Liv continues to grow. And the jealousy continues to build from Troy, he doesn’t like Liv hanging out with Brett. The best I could hope for was that she’d eventually lose interest in Troy and decide she liked me instead – Brett
While out with a bunch of his friends Brett witnesses something that changes everything. He talks to Liv’s cousin letting him know what he saw. Could this be his chance to finally have Liv for himself?
There are some more unexpected twists and turns that added a great element to the story. I also had several LOL moments. Overall I really liked Brett and Liv’s story. Sylvie Stewart pulls you in with her writing, I look forward to reading more from her.

Liv is smart and knows want she needs out of life. When she meets Brett, she immediately friend zoned him. She has her boyfriend and baseball, she’s good. That is until she realizes she’s starting to crush on him. Brett is used to being friend zoned. He’s always the friend. This time however, it’s not going to work for him. He has feelings for Liv and he won’t be just the friend. Will Brett get Liv to take him out of the friend zone?
I loved these characters and found myself rooting from them right from the beginning. They experience so many different emotions and turmoil, it was hard not to feel that with them. This book was great and I’m glad I read it!

This story is so cute. Brett is my type of guy. He has all the things a girl could want. I would look past his height because he has so many redeeming qualities. The way these characters are written had me laughing out loud multiple times. The characters side comments to themselves were hilarious. I really enjoyed this authors work. The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections series. I loved this book for so many different reasons. First I loved Tambo, Liv’s dog. He made me smile every time.
Second I loved Brett, he wasn’t the stereotypical leading male character. He wasn’t a giant who’s muscles had muscles. What he was is a caring man who knows how to treat a woman. Any Mom would be proud to have him date their daughter.
Liv was funny and a proud baseball fan (Go Cubs!) who doesn’t allow anyone to intimidate her, well almost anyone.
It was great catching up with everyone and seeing where they are now in their relationships. I hope the next book comes out soon.

The Way You Are is book 5 in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. My first read by this author, and what a merry dance I was led on. A refreshing change from the dark and twisted stories I love so much.
Brett MacKinnon always comes in second best, which delegates him to the friend zone. He has this charismatic personality that just makes him too sweet and the ladies just don’t take him seriously. To go after his lady love, he needs to toughen up, take charge, or risk getting left behind.
Liv is a feisty little lover of sport. A very strong personality does she possess, and she is not afraid to go after what she wants, that is of she really knows what she wants. She was hilarious and a true pleasure to get to know.
The Way You Are was brilliantly written, engaging, arresting, riveting. A storyline that draws you in immediately, and the ending comes far too quickly. A charismatic cast that will undoubtedly entertain anyone who picks it up and reads it. A fantastic 5 star story.

Brett was so great but the poor guy gets friend zoned, often from what it seems like. And when he meets the perfect girl at a baseball game, they hit it off, until she says who she is there for. Can he get out of the friend zone? Liv is a tell it like it is, feisty woman. I really loved getting to know her and the crazy of her life. These two were great with a great group of friends along the way too!

This book is about friends, love, baseball and the love of baseball, and I loved every minute of it. Poor, sweet Brett has found himself Mayor of Friendzone on more than one occasion. But when he meets the passionate and fiery Liv, he is willing to do anything to make a permanent move out of that territory and into boyfriend land. To bad that position is already filled by a baseball playing He-Man who could easily crush Brett.
Liv tells herself that she can have Brett as a friend. I mean really, women and men can be friends and nothing come of it. At least, that is what she keeps telling herself, until she develops a crush on Brett and is not sure what do about his persistent nature.
The quick and witty banter between these two was adorable. The situations the found themselves in was equally hilarious, and the dual POV was refreshing to be continuously placed in the frame of mind of each character. I highly recommend this book.

This book is no different, it’s the 5th book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Liv, who is a lover of baseball and sex. Not in that order. How enjoyable is this story!! I loved it! The witty banter, the secret longing and the sexy beard…all good reasons to devour this book! Olivia is a hoot! She sure has a mouth on her! She cracked me up at the games! Brett seems like not the type of guy she would go for. His outward appearance might have people shy away or look down on him. But I side he is a golden boy! He has this great big heart. We get to see and spend some time with Gavin and Emerson. They really help the story move forward as does Haley, who is Olivia’s best friend.
This isn’t my first book by this author. I have read all of the others in this series. They all have a little fun, some sexy men and strong sassy women. I love reading this series and look forward to the next one!!

Number 5 in this series and I am still hanging on every word this author writes! Yes they can be all read as a standalone but they are all equally as amazing so highly recommend them too. I love nothing more than a friends to lover’s story, I think friendship can be such a good base for a relationship sometimes and this story was just the most perfect example of that. Ms Stewart always manages to make me fall in love with her characters, they are always genuinely nice people and they feel like you are reading about your friends. I loved Olivia, she was so sweet and funny, and I can see why Brett was so enamoured with her! Brett, bless his heart, you could really tell how much Olivia meant to him, and in my opinion they were so perfect for each other. They had a really good chemistry that was genuine and not over the top, I was secretly rooting for them the whole way through. As with all of this authors books you can count on the secondary characters being brilliant and they were – they all add something to the story that make it so much more enjoyable to read. As always I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future – she is definitely one of my go to authors!

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections series. This book can be read as a stand-alone even though characters from the previous books do pop up here and there. For me this was the first book I have read in this series and I am now questioning why. This book is brilliant. It kept me thoroughly entertained throughout. I was laughing my way through at these characters. And I think part of that was because of how relatable I found them to be. Not only was it easy to imagine these characters and their troubles but it was easy to imagine yourself in their position, experiencing exactly what they were going through. The author really pulls you into the story and helps you to become a full part of it: I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I am going straight back to start again at book 1!View all my reviews

The Way You Are is the fifth book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This is is a fun, light-hearted and fabulous contemporary romance/ romantic comedy/friends to lovers’ story with a slow-burning romance, steamy moments, and a wonderful cast of characters. Even though it is the fourth in a series, it could be read as a standalone. But I expect that after reading this book, you will probably go back to read the other books in the series as well. Olivia and Brett meet unexpectedly, and get along immediately. Brett is smitten, and would love to have a chance with Liv- but she has a boyfriend and he is relegated to the ‘friend-zone’- a place he is all too familiar with. What happens you ask? Well, I really recommend reading all the hilarious details for yourself and discover if Brett finally makes it out of the friend zone. This is a sweet, steamy, funny and very entertaining story. It has a great pace and a smooth flow. I read it in an afternoon. A really fun read!

Nice guys winning PLUS snort inducing laughter EQUALS winning combination. Stewart had me engaged immediately and I instantly was rooting for our “good guy” to get the girl. I absolutely loved the plot and the character development. I love a good book that makes me laugh. Relatable and fun, this book is a must read and one you will have a hard time putting down. Loved it.

I have read so many of this authors books and I think all of these in this series…I love them all..when I saw this one it was a no brainer….and it just might be my favorite of all of them…Well for today it is, I think in a small way each one holds that title.
Brett was awesome, so sweet and carried the friend zone title well, until he didn’t LOL Liv I think is my favorite kind of female lead..She had me cracking up and these people made me want to know them.
I love this author and her writing always grabs me at page 1 and I don’t want to put the book down and this one was no different, I read it in one sitting and actually tried to slow my reading so it wouldn’t end. I really want to go back and read all of these again back to back. I can’t recommend this book and this series and this author enough.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on ‘The Way You Are.’ It kind of snuck up on me and my newsfeed as a new release just three days before it was to go live and thus hit my kindle and I have to say it was a long three days. But, I was grateful that I didn’t have a longer anticipation time lol. I absolutely adored the first four Carolina Connections Novels. Noting that this is the fifth book in the series, these are all written in a way that they could be read as standalone’s. However, the characters from the previous books also make guest appearances here and there, so that is a bonus!
‘The Way You Are’ was such a funny read. It balanced the perfect amount of romance and comedy just like we are used to seeing from Sylvie Stewart. This is partly why I absolutely can’t help but one-click everything from her. Of course the romance had the zing that made you want that tall glass of wine and a fan. Sylvie has a knack for that slow burn build up too! I could honestly gush about the writing for days but…. onto the goods.
OH, Olivia, Liv… I loved her. Sometimes I wanted to yell at her and others I wanted to cheer for her. A lot like she hackle all those players. Liv loves her baseball. She loves her boyfriend. At least she thinks she does. He is perfect. The ballplayer of her dreams. But, there is her best friend that is starting to look really good. Like, not just friend zone good.
Brett gives up. He really likes Liv. But there is that friend zone. He is infamous for it and really it’s just made it to the point where he is just focusing on his career and enjoying what and who he does have in his life at the moment. What will happen when his chance finally comes and the prince charming messes up big-time?

The Way You Are is the fifth book in Sylvie Stewart’s Carolina Connections series! I have read every single story in the series and I have loved every single one of them! You can read the story as a standalone BUT I would recommend taking it from the beginning as you meet the rest of the gang and understand some of the back story. Sylvie is a fantastic story teller and pulls you in from page one! The sense of humour and the care she takes of her characters … oh my! I was so happy to see that finally we have another story in the series AND I giggled a bit when I saw that she is planning at least couple of more! The Way You Are is the story of Brett, the eternal nice guy (we have met him before, he is Gavin’s best friend), and Liv, a diehard baseball fan veterinarian. What do you think you will get when you throw together essentially a nice guy and a smart and loyal girl who is not a good judge of character and who also has a boyfriend? They start off in the ‘friend zone’ and yeah, it is sort of a slow burn but oh my when it finally catches fire, it burns hot! And as I said previously, I was great to see all the other old friends from the previous stories and I cannot wait to see what Sylvie as in store for Ari and Jax and Haley …
