When there is a heist, you don’t accept the Raven group to be there to investigate but what will they discover.
Luke has been sent on a mission to Istanbul and while he is there they discover something under the hum of the city.
Samaar and Alice decide to visit Luke while he away to get some R and R and shopping but when they befriend a shop keeper and get a call saying that there shop is being raided will that simple raid turn into much much more.
I loved the story and have always loved the relationship between the main characters, although this story features on Luke and them determining what is happening with the heist and the shop keeper they are also discovering things between their relationship and secrets. The story is full of action and is well written and flows really well. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is the first book I’ve read by MacDonald. MacDonald knows how to keep readers entertained and coming back to read more. I’ve got to say Tears of Boabdil is an amazing first read.
Vince is undercover and one hell of a liar. He’s there to stop something from going down, but can love stop him? He meets the leaders sister and she captures his heart. The quote I chose for Vince is: “I bear witness there is no god but Allah, and Mohammad is his messenger.”
Ayesha is the sister to Jihadi leaders. Running the store one day leads her to meeting Vince. She doesn’t know him as Vince though as he goes by a different name. She isn’t sure what is going on and she’ll learn the truth. The quote I chose for Ayesha is: “But, he meets his Ayesha at the Alhambra.”

Vince is an undercover agent for the Special Branch and when he creates his character and backstory, he throws himself into it completely and immerses himself into the other world he is trying to infiltrate and this time, he has to become an islamic convert and infiltrate a British Jihadi group. Vince starts his journey in a local, nondescript, corner shop where he goes to buy some essentials, bottled water and cigarettes, but when he sees the woman serving on the counter, she is beautiful, he cannot deny that, but he also senses that she is different to most women and also that this would not be their only meeting. He approaches the mosque for the first time as well, it is also a beautiful place, as he enters and follow the other worshippers, he completes the rituals and spots his targets doing the same, he observes them from a distance, he knows he needs to first be noticed, then to earn their respect and after that their trust, but Vince also knows he needs to do it slowly and carefully.
As the days pass and Vince is growing closer to his first check in with his handler, he develops a routine of breakfast, visiting the corner shop to interact with the woman there, to the mosque for prayers and visiting the stalls selling literature and in the market precinct on Fridays and Saturdays, being seen to be devout and seeking of knowledge, eventually the targets come over and talk to him, this is where Vince’s work really starts. Two of them talk about the information in the leaflet he is holding all the while listening to the third man talking to passers by and hears something of interest to file for later on about a study group. Vince is about to leave when he is given another leaflet about a protest happening the day after and he agrees to go and take part, this should help to gain their trust and it is what happens, he also has the opportunity to talk to the woman at the shop who introduces herself as Ayesha, it turns out she is the sister of the targets and is very intelligent and Vince decides that to befriend her could also help him to get in with the targets.
As he is walking home a few days later, he comes across a blast from his past who it turns out is his handler for this mission, although they don’t get along, they agree on a way for them to communicate and Vince goes on his way. As time passes and he slowly starts to gain the trust of the targets and their sister, things become more complicated when he starts to develop feelings for Ayesha, he uses her intelligence and discovered love of Moorish Spain to spin yet more tales and seduce her, however, is he becoming too close and losing himself in all the tales he is spinning, or will he be able to see past them to the reality and complete his mission? This is a thrilling deep dive into the life of an undercover agent as he struggles to discern reality from the tales he spins and you are spinning through it all with him until the conclusion is reached.

This is an author you don’t want to overlook! Neil MacDonald is a genius at weaving a story and creating a welcome challenge for his reader. The Tears of Boabdil is a psychological thriller that needs concentration and focus, but is compelling and hard to put down. The unreliable narrator, Vince/Zami, is an undercover agent who is sent to infiltrate a British Jihad group. However, he finds he must choose between his mission and a love he has found along the way. The characters in this story are well-built and you will find yourself rooting for love to win. This is quite different from my usual genre, but I do not regret giving it a chance. The author is wonderful at creating a page-turner that is unpredictable and will keep the reader on their toes. I definitely recommend this book and give it 5 enthusiastic stars.

This series is like a fine wine; it gets better with age. This is a standalone, but best to read the others first. Detective Petrosky has lived a heck of a life as a detective. And he’s sure that this B&E will be a simple case but ends up being a complication that Detective Petrosky doesn’t need…in many ways. With the many twists and turns, this book gives you, it necessary to not give anything away while reviewing. You cannot go wrong with this series!

DeBlassie has upped the ante with this “blood curdling” story. Unlike any of his other crazy stories, Goddess of Everything is above and beyond normal craziness.
This story is about Mother Juana and her need for…blood, death, obedience and well, everything. Mother Juana’s son Gabriel is torn between his love for his wife, his mother and life in general.
These characters are well developed, enough so that you know if you met up with Mother Juana you would want to run the other way. And if you met up with Gabriel you would see the devotion and love this man has for those around him especially those less fortunate.
The plot of this story is unbelievable, disheartening, and downright disturbing. Way to go DeBlassie. If you enjoy dark stories with a touch of mystery and crazy, this may be one you put at the top of your list.

Are you ready to Get In, Sit Down, and Read like there is no tomorrow? I still use that phrase to describe this series. I highly recommend this entire series because it is all enjoyable and because you will enjoy all the books and plot-lines more. Lynder Filler is an amazing author,in my humble opinion. She keeps you at the edge of your seat. I know there are points when my heart races because I feel as if I am right there with the characters. I will admit that Luke Raven is my book boyfriend. He does not look for trouble, BUT trouble does come looking for him. Luke has found trouble but is this kind of trouble he can recover from or will this be his last mission? I highly recommend this book and series.

This is one of my favorite psychological thrillers I have read recently. Neil MacDonald takes you on a mission that makes you think. This story made me turn the pages just looking for that small glimpse to let me know where I am. The plot-line takes you on a mission that you really need to focus on what is going on around you so you do not lose your mind. The characters are amazing, especially Vince. Vince has been asked to go undercover, which he is a master of, the only thing is he will have to make up this character. He may lose his identity because of how deep he will go undercover. Not only lose himself, but there is the question of whether he follows his heart or his mission. I highly recommend this book. Just be prepared to read it in one sitting.

Like.. What ?! What in the world did I just read ? Those are my immediate thoughts of this book after turning its last few pages.
Goddess of Everything starts in a cemetery with a young boy and his Mother. You soon realize this woman is not everything she seems on the surface with what transpires at the boys fathers funeral.
This is absolutely the definition of a supernatural, psychological thriller. It’s a newer, often unexplored subject that I don’t feel gets touched on to much. It’s fresh. This book is a wild, crazy, edge of your seat ride to the very end. It most definitely is a blood curdling ride as well with its depictions of child abuse, and murder which I feel should definitely have some trigger warnings involved for a more sensitive audience as it’s definitely an intense read! There are tons of corrupt people involved and it’s hard to really trust anyone throughout the book but I do think Consuela was one of the best in this book. As hard as she tried to open Gabriel’s eyes to the evil that was his mother she remained steadfast and strong for him never aggressive or defensive while she let him fight his own demons and wage his battles inside himself. They fought until the very end which eventually paid off. If you can look past the triggers mentioned and are looking for fresh, albeit hard to read, new subject matter in your thrillers this might be the book for you! It’s an absolute nail bitter.

I was once again pulled right in and didn’t want to put it down. Samaar and her daughter Alice come to Instanbul to spend time with Luke. They are looking forward to a little vacation. Alice meets someone that works in one of the shops they went to and they become friends. When someone breaks into the shop he calls Alice for help. This is where things start taking a thrilling twist with lots of action.
Overall this was a great read with twists and turns and secrets revealed. I felt like we had a couple of different stories going on as well. The author does a great job with her writing, you feel like you’re right there in the story. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

BOOM! Another perfect addition to one of my favorite series ever! Might just be my favorite yet! That’s not easy to say because I think every one of them is my favorite when I hit the last page. LOL
There are actually two stories going on in this book, giving me action, suspense, danger, twists, secrets, family, and the feeling of actually being in the absolutely beautiful city of Istanbul and the mountains of Turkey.
I love these characters so so much, I’m completely invested in this series and can not wait for the next. Samaar, Luke, and Alice’s future is completely different than they had planned and I can not wait to see how this all plays out. I’m excited about the addition of Ali and even Kral and am trying so hard not to go into the storyline, you really must read this but..in order to get the whole impact of this story you really in my opinion need to read them all in order.
This author is with no doubt one of my favorites ever. Every book she comes out with is spot on perfection. They flow so well that I read every one of them in one sitting because I can literally not put them down. She always takes me on journeys that I never knew I wanted and has made me look up places because I want to see what I’m visualizing while reading. Her careful attention to detail leaving me with no questions or confusion is something I appreciate, these are just a few of the reasons she’s a favorite!
I can not wait to reread this entire series and will own every one of them, because there is a place on my bookshelf waiting for them.

This was an interesting book to read. The author did a great job with the characters and the story. The only thing I found hard was the jumping from past to present and back again. With the mixture of stories the main character makes up and the actual story it gets a little bit confusing at times.
Vince is a undercover Special Branch Agent. His next job is to go undercover and infiltrate a British Jihadi group. Going by the name of Zami he sets out to befriend two men and get accepted into the group. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for their sister.
Now Vince/Zami has a huge problem. Does he keep his commitment and do his duty for his country or does he defy all the rules and breaks everything for the love of a woman who believes he is something he isn’t?

This book was definitely different from anything I have read before. The author did an excellent job keeping me engaged and. I really needed to focus and pay attention to keep up with what was going on. It is my suggestion that when reading this story not to have distractions. I was definitely kept guessing throughout, it was hard to tell what was lies and what was reality. There were a couple of times I was a little confused but other than that I found this to be an intriguing read with a lot going on. If you want a good thought provoking, original story with secrets, terrorism, action and more than this book a good one to pick up. I recommend this book.

This book is a brilliant work that requires a quiet space and plenty of concentration. Intrigue, suspense – with a fascinating narration POV, this story takes a bit to get used to the flow and movement but unfolds quickly. You will find yourself absorbed and transported. The author does an amazing job balancing this complicated storyline and subject while maintaining good balance and keeping the reader engaged. Just a terrific piece of writing.

This novel is a lovely mix of beautifully written mythology and gripping undercover terrorism detection. Although that sounds as if the two wouldn’t work well, MacDonald makes it work. The mythology told within this story is simply stunning and really interesting to read about. I really liked how MacDonald mirrored the mythology with the main characters narrative, this made me question what was in store for our main character throughout the book. I think the characters were very well developed and MacDonald has a way of making, even the bad guys relatable, which I really enjoyed.

It took me a little while to get into the story, it was a little confusing as it goes in two parallel stories. Vince is an undercover police officer has to take on a false identity to infiltrate into a Jihadi group. He becomes Zami, and becomes a prisoner, but falls dangerously in love with one of the Jihadi leader’s sister, Ayesha. So, Now Zami shifts between his new identity and his original identity time and again weaving a fictional romantic tale between Vince and Ayesha to gain the attraction of the real Ayesha. So Vince/Zami leads a dual life and the thin line between reality and deception starts thinning down. It is impossible to decipher what is the truth and what is farce. What is Vince revealing to the readers? Or is he deceiving them too? The narrative is complex, but very deftly woven. I had to flip the pages back and forth to keep track of what is going on. But it is definitely one of the unique books I have read.

I am so completely invested in this series! It just keeps getting better and better. Witness is the ninth book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. This story has Detective Edward Petrosky scratching his head. With a typical burglary that turned into a giant mystery when he shows up to the crime scene and finds way too much blood for his liking. There is also questionability about the woman that fled the scene. She was supposedly killed 10 years prior in a fire. He also discovers that his surrogate daughter is at the center of all of this. Once again I am completely enraptured by this novel. I absolutely love Detective Petrosky and this series. There are always so many twists and turns that I have no idea what is going to come up next. This book will have you at the edge of your seat wanting to know what is going to come next. You can’t and will not put this book down! As I always say with series, start from book one. However, you can read this without doing that. I can’t wait to see what Ms. O’Flynn has in store for the next book!

The Tears of Boabdil is a psychological crime book by Neil McDonald. This is the first book I have read by this author. This book had me enthralled from the beginning. This book is complex, but you know that from the beginning when the MC, Vince lets you know that truth is how believable you make the lies. This is an undercover agent infiltrating a Jihadi Group, so his life depends on the story he weaves. This book is full of action, drama, intrigue with romance added in. A good vs. evil line with deep thought inducing content. This is not my normal genre, but I alway like to expand my reading choices. I would recommend this book especially if you like intriguing undercover/spy novels.

I have been following this series, but I somehow forget just how good it is until I pick up the next book. This one is no exception. The story pulled me in right away. There is so much going on, and you never know which turn in this thrilling ride you will take next. It is full of action, suspense, some gripping terror, and lots of what will happen next. I kept trying to figure it out, to know avail. But that’s a good thing, I don’t like my suspense to be predictable.
As I have said, I have read other books in this series and I love how the characters are constantly evolving and growing. It’s not always in a good way, but it’s the only way they know how. They are trying their hardest though to do the right thing. These characters are what really make this book and series what it is.
If you are a fan of gripping suspense, this book and series are for you.

Witness by Meghan O’Flynn is the ninth book in the Ash Park Novel series. This is rare to say but this series only becomes more intriguing and interesting the deeper it goes. Detective Edward Petrosky is back and has gotten what looks like a simple case. Of course, nothing is as simple as it seems. This case links back to a previous case and leaves many questions for Petrosky to figure out. I will not write about the plot more because I do not want to give any of this thrilling book away. This is filled with mystery, crime, thrills, and intrigue. I really look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.

This was my first spy thriller, and not my usual type of book. The narration was difficult to follow at first, jumping from reality to story-telling, and back to reality. Once I sorted that out, I couldn’t stop reading it.
Vince is the spy sent undercover to infiltrate an Islamic group. As Zami, a new convert to Islam, he falls in love with the target’s sister, Ayesha. He tells stories to Ayesha about the character, Don Vincent and his love affair with the beautiful Ayesha. Vince/Zami begins to lose his grip on what is real and what is the story he tells. He must soon make a decision between being loyal to his country or to Ayesha. I am still undecided on this genre, however “The Tears of Boabdil” was an interesting story.

Witness is book nine of Meghan O’Flynn’s ‘Ash Park’ series but each book can be read as a standalone story. This gritty fast paced crime thriller had me gripped from page one and had so many clever twists and turns that it kept me hooked and guessing until the very last page. The main character, Detective Edward Petrosky is a great character who has so many layers to him and an intriguing backstory of his own. The authors detailed descriptions made me feel immersed in the story and I felt as though I was there along side Detective Petrosky. Having seen many horrors in his career, Detective Petrosky is relieved when he gets a call about a burglary. However he soon realises that it’s no ordinary housebreak when he discovers considerable amount of blood at the scene, although the house owner doesn’t appear to be injured. The victim of the burglary is in fact a man who had been accused of sexual assault in the past and who has a dangerous family. To complicate the case further the suspect is a women who apparently died along with her husband in a fire ten years earlier. Petrosky is also concerned about his surrogate daughter and the wife of his murdered partner as they appear to be at the centre of a conspiracy and Shannon’s life is at stake. This has a fast paced storyline and a complicated plot which kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and this one was no different. A great read, which I fully recommend.

The Tears of Boabdil by Neil MacDonald is an intriguing crime story with a bit of a psychological component. The author weaves a tight, complex, and layered tale full of intrigue, drama, secrets, lies, blurred lines, duel ‘realities’, terrorists, espionage, romance, and more. The author cleverly crafts a story where the lines between reality and the stories that our MC weaves become blurred. Fact and fiction spiralling together. Vince is a seasoned undercover operative who spends most of his time creating ‘reality’ with his ‘identities’, stories and lies. His story telling skills will be invaluable as he is assigned to infiltrate a terrorist group as an Islamic extremist. When he meets the sister of the groups leader, things take a complicated turn. Real life and undercover work merge, creating thought-provoking issues and complexities. This story has me thinking about it, the developments, and the duality aspect of the story, long after I finished- and pondering the conclusion. I am still unsure of how to review this book- except to say that it is definitely worth the read, especially if you like a creative and thought provoking story.

This book starts with a boy watching a woman giving birth in the presence of “Father” under his watchful gaze, just like all of the other times this had happened, but he couldn’t say or do anything because it would make him angry and that is the last thing he wanted to do.Detective Petrosky and his partner go to investigate a burglary, it is something lighter than the usual predators and their victims, but when he sees an expensive looking watch on the table and nothing else being disturbed, apart from some broken picture frames and a whole lot of blood, it’s looking highly likely that the break in was just secondary, especially with who had their house broken into. This new case brings back memories of a old one where domestic abuse was involved until the victim had had time to decompress and quickly retracted their statement and decided not to press charges, but as they question the owner of the house, his answers don’t tally with the evidence inside and it is the same thing when they talk to the neighbour who called it in, her description of the person she saw running away from the house is the same as a case from the past, but the person who is being described is dead adding yet more questions than answers to the case, especially when the blood results come back as a match for the dead person as well, which makes them a lot more alive.
As they try to find more leads to follow, the case becomes more and more bizarre and more questions than answers keep popping up, especially when the dead woman was kidnapped and involved in a car accident not too long before she died in a warehouse fire with her husband a brother in law, even more frustrating is that the case file has disappeared, so they decide to go and talk to someone who was involved. While talking to them, similarities between the dead woman and the domestic abuse victims cases appear, but it still doesn’t give any more clarification, just more questions again. As Petrosky finds out more about the family of the burglary victim, he gets an increasingly bad feeling that there is more to the case than meets the eye, but when he finds out that an old partner was involved in the original case, it leads to more suspicion, but these questions are not ones to be answered as the individual died, but his widow might be able to shed some light on it. When Petrosky suddenly comes across Shannon in the course of the investigation, even though she lives nowhere nearby, she tells him some information which shocks him.
Will Petrosky be able to solve the crime and the mystery surrounding a woman who is supposed to be dead and why she came back, all while battling to keep himself from getting too involved, especially when the case is so close to home? This is a thriller which will keep you guessing until the end and is as action packed as it can be as the detectives try to untangle the web of lies and deceit they find themselves in the middle of.

Witness is the ninth book in Meghan O’Flynn’s Ash Park series, a series that I would recommend reading in order as each new book sort of follows the last.
From book 1 I was hooked by this storyline and the incredible characters, this author has managed to create a whole dark, deceiving, traumatic, evil and mysterious world with characters that feel so real and relatable. Though I can’t relate to the crimes I can absolutely relate to these complex characters, I have felt invested in their lives for so long and with each new book I feel more connected. I have loved following along with each of their journeys and seeing how they’ve evolved and changed as characters.
These storylines always have me sitting on the edge of my seat trying to piece everything together, with zero success most of the time. I’m always entertained which make these books a must read! I look forward to reading more from this author and this series asap.

I cant believe how much I love this series. This book was a perfect addition and I truly believe this would be an awesome mini series or even weekly series on TV.
This one was not an easy read, and I’ll admit I got lost a few times, having to stop and even go back to keep names straight. I had no problem with this because I was so into the story it made sense I wanted to keep things in order. There was a lot going on and even more to keep track of and I loved every second of it.
The end was not what I had expected and this is why I’m so invested in this series and this author. It’s amazing how she can twist and turn the words the way she does. Thankfully there was not too much describing some of what went on, but what was revealed had me cringing at times.
You could read this as a standalone, but Petrosky has quite a story in the books leading up to this one and I’m glad I have read all those that came before. The relationship between Petrosky and his partner is one of my favorites of all time.
I can not wait for the next and I truly hope we have many more to come.

This is the 9th book in the Ash Park series and its just as good as the previous books. The stories are all gripping, full of twists and turns and it keeps you guessing from start to end. I love the character of Detective Petrosky. He is a hard character to get to know and love. With a history of alcoholism and a relapse he finds life hard but he still does his job 100% leaving no stone unturned.
This book starts with a simple breaking and entering case but as Petrosky and his partner Jackson start to dig deeper they start to unravel a mystery that leads them into a dark criminal world and also leads them to look closer to home.
It’s a really gripping story with twists that you won’t see coming.
