Ashes To Ashes Boxset (books 1-3) By Rowena Holloway 5 out of 5 stars
This is a boxset of three stories that are mystery/thrillers. They pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until the final page. I was on the edge of my seat and turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. The stories are told in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the main character of Charlotte in her investigations. I loved the character of Charlotte Ashe. She is a woman who when she starts down a path, she is determined to get answers. She is intelligent, independent, and strong. Other additional characters help Charlotte and then there are those who I wondered about their motives. These stories have twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. They kept me guessing. Don’t miss out on a set of stories that will have you reading far into the night to finish them. I highly recommend this boxset.

This is my first book by this author and definitely will not be my last. I love a good family novel especially when it deals with real life issues.
I will admit there were times I got totally confused and lost in the story and had to go back and read a few things a second time to get on the same page as where the author was going. There were a lot of moving parts to this book and again it took me a bit to catch on in a few places. In saying all of that, this had an awesome storyline and some great characters as well as some not so great.
I really felt like the author tied things up nicely at the end and even in the few places I wasn’t able to get organized in my head, in the end it was all ok. It did have an easy flow and I think I would actually like to read it again after a bit of time, and I would absolutely recommend it.

Boy On Hold is my first read by J.D Spero, and I am happy to say that it won’t be my last. This is a surprising little gem- a young adult thriller- with murder, crime, trauma, loss, grief, secrets, family dynamics, mental illness, love, emotion, forgiveness, drama, and suspense. The story is told from several points of view- which gave me a really well-rounded perspective of what was happening and added extra depth to the overall story. When Henry Trout (Hen) witnesses a shocking incident, he is left reeling- and soon his (and his family’s) life is turned upside down when his older brother is arrested for the crime. His brother’s troubling behaviour, family secrets, and the truth all wrestle- while family bonds begin to unravel. Within all this heartbreak though, lies a wonderfully touching story full of hope. I don’t want to reveal too much- as this is one of those books I think is best read knowing as little as possible, and letting the story and characters reveal themselves along the way. Well done!

Hold on to your seats – because it will keep you breathless to the very last page!
Boy on Hold by JD Spero. This book is geared toward young adult but I loved it and would read it again. Its the story of a single mom Marcella Trout and her boys Hen and Tyler. Tyler has just turned 17 and is the typical angry moody 17 year old. They live in a small town in the Adirondack’s. The family is very dysfunctional as are most families anymore. Anyway they have a tradition of a night called Cabbage night where kids go out and pull pranks all night. Hen has gone outside looking for a pet Hedgehog and instead sees something he will never get over. He witnesses one of his favorite people become the victim of murder and not long after his brother Tyler gets arrested for that murder. Does Hen have the answer to help his brother or did Tyler really kill his friend. As the Detectives begin to investigate some of the Trout families deep dark secrets come out. Will the Trout family survive all in one piece or will they break beyond the point of no return?

What a great book Boy on Hold by JD Spero is. A good clean little who done it, although the culprits are given to you early, this story is built around giving you the clues to build the case yourself. I love how Hen comes to learn about truth and how he learns about forgiveness. The way the author shares an awareness about schizophrenia is great. I love really good stories that teach us something on the journey. And this is a good story. Even a very tasteful romance. A good clean read…. you can’t go wrong with this book.

I enjoyed this book. This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much if not more than the first. This is a well developed story that kept me turning pages to the end. I had no problem connecting with the characters. They made the story engaging and made it easy to read. They pulled me into the story with ease and made me a part of it. In this story we have Aaron and Branson who are identical twins. There is a third twin, David, but he lives in one of the other twins minds. When their mom gets sick, David starts really coming out. What will happen when he does? This story has a few twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. This is a fast paced page turner that I highly recommend.

Billiter with Kyle Thomas – Review by Bobbi Wagner
The Ashes to Ashes series has arrived in a boxed set!!! What a great way to explore this gripping series by Rowena Holloway– without having to wait between books. This is a brilliant psychological suspense- with plenty of gripping moments that will have you flipping the pages, reading along to find out how everything plays out. The boxed set contains:
Bad Things Happen (Book One) Bad Things Happen is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. This proved to be a bit of a dark mystery- full of danger, suspense, deadly consequences, secrets, hard truths, cover-ups, and so much more. Charlotte Ashe is an Aussie working in London, as the weather girl/reporter for TVWE. She is idealistic and ambitious- and aspires to be taken more seriously and eventually get to report on more hard-hitting stories. She thinks the right story may have just landed in her lap, a scoop that may just open all the doors she’s been dreaming of. But things take a dangerous turn and Charlotte will need to uncover the truth, before it’s all too late. This book definitely has a psychological, edge of your seat, and suspenseful storyline. I was pulled into the story quite quickly and devoured it in one sitting, just to find out how everything was tied up in the end.
Less You Know (Book Two) Less You Know is the second book in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. This is quite a gripping suspense, with drama, mystery, danger, secrets, action, discoveries, twists, intrigue, and lots of tension. We met Charlotte Ashe in the previous book- and once again follow her on her latest ‘investigation’. Her journalistic senses drive her to try to prove Tyrone Garner, former football star, now turned property developer, and all-round Mr. Popular- is actually a huge fraud. She, along with her friend Allie, engage in some reconnaissance in order to uncover ‘evidence’. But Allie has secrets of her own, and when she disappears, Charlotte not only feels guilty for placing her friend in danger, but will also need to get to the bottom of everything, putting all the pieces together. Secrets will be revealed. Questions will be raised. Charlotte will be tested, and left questioning everything she thought she knew. This story is definitely clever, edge of your seat reading. I was immediately hooked and couldn’t put it down until I’d read every word. As I expected, another great read from this talented author!
From The Ashes (Book Three) OMG Charlotte has been through quite a lot since we first met her back in book one. This series has taken me on quite the journey, and has all led to this point. I have loved each book, but I definitely think Ms. Holloway has left the best till last. From the Ashes is the third, and final book in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. It is an intense psychological thriller that will tie you up in knots with the tightly woven and twisty plot. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the story- scrambling to read as quickly as I could so I could unravel the mystery, and put all the pieces together, before the final reveal. But, I had so many scenarios running through my head- Ms. Holloway twisted and turned the plot so well that I was left guessing right till the end. I loved the gripping suspense, psychological ploys, clever mystery, dramatic developments, heightened tension, and intense danger which Ms. Holloway managed to imbue her story with. She definitely knows how to weave a great tale, and keep her readers glued to the pages. I was both excited, and a little sad to get my hands on this book- as I really wanted to continue Charlotte’s journey, but at the same time I knew that this would be the concluding chapter. So, it has been a bit of a bittersweet experience. Charlotte Ashe enters this story having had her life turned upside down. She’s been through so much- at the cost of her career, reputation, credibility, friendships, and even to a degree, her self-respect. She has one ‘play’ left- and she throws herself into it headfirst. Her continuing obsession with Tyrone Gardner leads her to Blaxon Hall, a private ‘clinic’, where her journalistic senses recognise the threads of a story. She needs this story to pan out, because she’s got a lot riding on the outcome. Charlotte uncovers some mystery surrounding the recent deaths at the hall- and this is where the story really ramps up in intensity and interest. Charlotte couldn’t possibly predict the ensuing events- placing herself in incredible danger along the way. What will she sacrifice in order to get to the bottom of this investigation? Because when a fire breaks out at the hall, Charlotte is one of the missing people, What happened, you ask? Well, I don’t want to spoil it for you- so I really recommend grabbing yourself a copy of this fantastic thriller, and discover all the gripping developments for yourself. WOW… this story is definitely a clever, edge of your seat read- and as I expected, is another great story from Rowena Holloway.
So, what are you waiting for? If you love a great psychological suspense- with plenty of twists and turns- then you won’t want to miss this exciting boxed set. I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Holloway does next!

Virtually Gone by Jacquie Biggar is the sixth book in the High-Tech Crime Solvers series. This is a story full of suspense and intrigue that certainly keeps the pages turning. The characters in this book have been well crafted. I liked the relationship between the two partners, I felt like they complimented each other well. Each seemed to the make up for the others flaws. They were determined to solve this case and find the person responsible and it was easy to feel their urgency behind it. The story was also really well developed. I wanted to find out what was going on and to see how the book would turn out. I thought the author did a great job of keeping you guessing with some well timed twists and turns. It was a suspenseful story that definitely kept me interested. I enjoyed reading this book and will look forward to more in the future.
Identical twins Aaron and Branson Kovak are in their final year of college—Aaron’s in Ohio, while Branson remains in their home state of Wyoming. There’s also the third twin, David, who only exists in one of their minds.
Despite the distance between them, Aaron and Branson are united by a turbulent childhood they survived together. As they enter adulthood, David comes out of the shadows to wreak havoc on the real world—his idea of fun.
When their mom is diagnosed with cancer, the ties that bind the twins incite David to tear them apart at the seams.

I loved this series. I was excited to see them all in one box set. This is a great series that is full of suspense and action. They are engaging stories that are fast paced and hard to put down. The characters in each book I had no problems connecting to. They made the stories easy to read and kept it moving. I was pulled into each of the stories with the author’s attention to detail. Charlotte is featured in each book in one capacity. She puts herself in danger to get what she wants but you will have to read this series to find out more. The twists and turns she takes you on left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. I highly recommend this book and this author.
Ashes to Ashes boxed set is a group of Psychological suspense thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your set and heart pumping. What could be better than having them all there so you don’t have to wait, because you won’t want to.
Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense (Ashes to Ashes Book 1) by Rowena Holloway is full of dark secrets and fraught with danger. This psychological thriller will have you on the edge of your seat while the suspense keeps you on your toes. The story often goes back in time but does so little by little just giving you a hint of a little bit more until the whole truth is revealed and boy does it have some twists. Charlotte Ashe is a weather girl working in London. When a hint of a story is thrown her way, little did she know that it would come with deadly consequences, secrets and lies, painful truths and so many cover ups that she would never be the same. With so many players uncovering the truth from the lies, before it’s too late may just be her undoing.
Less You Know: gripping suspense (Ashes to Ashes Book 2) is the second book in the series and you really need to read Bad Things Happen, the first book in the series as it lays the groundwork for this book. Less You Know is a psychological thriller that is dangerous, full of secrets and suspense and is full of many twists and turns that you don’t know what is going to happen, even when you think you do. Rowena’s skillful writing takes you on a gripping journey where you don’t know who is who and what is what. Charlotte Ashe once again finds herself in the thick of things when her friend is missing. Investigating is in her blood but at what cost. The closer she gets, the more she finds out and the more danger she is in, shows just how much she doesn’t know who her friend is and the many secrets she holds.
From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes #3) is the third book in the Ashes to Ashes series. I recommend reading the previous books before this one. This story starts off with a bang. It’s intense right from the beginning and you just can’t stop reading. Part of what makes this book so suspenseful is the back and forth of the timeline. It keeps the answers just out of reach and creates the drive to keep focused so you can figure it all out. I won’t get into details, because I don’t want to give away any of the plot turns. Suffice it to say, this book is spectacularly suspenseful, marvelously mysterious, and a dangerously delicious read.
The scoop of her career might end up costing her life…
Book 1: Bad Things Happen
Charlotte Ashe is desperate to get out of her light-relief gig as TVWE’s ‘weather babe’. When an elite footballer hands her a scoop that could make her career, she never expects it to lead into danger.
Book 2: Less You Know
Allie’s great with secrets. She’s guarded her own well. But when Charlotte Ashe asks for her help to expose a corrupt developer the only secrets threatened with exposure are her own—and the consequences could be deadly.
Book 3: From The Ashes
Tyrone Garner has many secrets, but the only one that matters is about to be exposed. When Charlotte Ashe goes missing at the scene of a devastating fire, he must decide which is more dangerous—exposing the truth or burying it deeper?
Grab the complete series in one elegant box set and get lost in the suspense.

Girl Trap is the third book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton is such a suspenseful book. I have read all the books in this series so far and I swear it gets better with each book. This storyline is amazing and the author writes it and its characters so amazing that you feel yourself being pulled into the book. Mike and Madeline are working on 2 cases at the same time in this book that take their toll on these characters when things are revealed. Can they solve both mysteries apart and come out on top? You will be hooked at the edge of your seat reading this book, as I could not put it down.

This is a heartbreaking story about a young person suffering from mental illness. It was really well written that allowed you to really understand what it feels like to suffer from this illness and how it effects everyone’s lifes not just the person who has it.
Henry loves with his mum and his big brother Tyler. Tyler is struggling with mental health problems but his mum is so focused on being a good mum and providing for her two boys that she doesn’t see the signs or her sons struggles.
That is until their next door neighbour is attacked in her home. No ones knows who has done it but the two main suspects are Tyler and his friend Derek.
All evidence points to Tyler as the main suspect but his mother and Henry don’t believe it.
Was it Tyler who committed the horrible crime or was it Derek? Was Tyler in sound mind or was it voices pushing him forwards.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton
The 3rd installment of Madeline Dawkins series! This book digs into human trafficking as Madeline (a PI in her own right) and her business partner and friend Mike are asked to help search for two missing sisters from Minnesota. What will Madeline and Mike find as the search intensifies?
One of the things I like best about the Madeline Dawkins series is how Madeline’s character keeps learning and changing. It’s so much more like real life, it make you connect with the characters better.

Girl Trap (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton. Once again this series captured my full attention and I just couldn’t put it down. This author knows how to keep me guessing and on my toes. This one is just as interesting and intriguing as the others. The fast pace had my head busy but it’s not so fast it’s rushed it’s a good fast. The characters are complex and well written, by now I’m feeling a great connection with them. I do recommend reading this series in order and I promise it’ll be a great way to spend some time in book world. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Girl Trap (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton
This series gets better with each book and this is now my favorite of the series. I was sitting at the edge of my seat flipping pages as fast as I could just to find out what was going to happen.
Mike and Madeline are working separately for the first time since opening up their agency. Mike’s in LA helping his cousin while Madeline is in San Louis Obispo trying to track down a daughter who doesn’t want to be found. I liked Madeline from the beginning but I think I love her now. She is a bad chick and not afraid of anything at this point. And holy cow, what about Mike!? He moved up the ladder a lot after reading this.
Two very determined people will get things done and they certainly do here. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend you give it a read.

Nothing is as it seems in Southern California where the weather is perfect and Hollywood isn’t too far away. MDPI is set to investigate two missing persons cases. Two beautiful Minnesota sisters and there’s nothing ordinary about their disappearance but the disappearance of an heiress of an eight-figure fortune goes missing, it begins to raise eyebrows. Mike Delaney, Madeline’s partner, Madeline’s partner has a connection to the missing sisters as it’s his cousin’s girlfriend and her sister. Madeline is on the other side in San Luis Obispo at a 12-year mystery at a Catholic boarding school. These two partners discover a shocking truth behind the glitz and glamour. With lives on the line, the partners face a hopeless outcome and viscous felons who will stop at nothing to get their way. This book will have you hooked from every page from beginning to end. I’ve enjoyed Madeline’s journey from the beginning of every book in this series. I love Madeline’s search for justice no matter where she is. This one was and is entertaining and original.

Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers Book 6) By Jacquie Biggar 5 out of 5 stars
The story Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers Book 6) by Jacquie Biggar is a thrilling book to read. It pulled me in from the start and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a story that has mystery, suspense, and danger. I loved reading about the characters of Julie Crenshaw and Matthew Roy. Julie is an investigative reporter who when on a story is determined to follow it to its conclusion. The one that she is on now could be the case of a lifetime. Matthew is a detective who is frustrated by the fact that he hasn’t been able to bring a rapist to justice. When the suspect escalates his crime to murder, Matthew knows that he has to bring him in. The one question is how? Read this book to see if Matthew solves the case. This is a story that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I loved the way that the author writes about the technology used in the investigation. I also enjoyed the interactions and bantering back and forth between the characters. This is a fast-paced book that will keep you guessing. I highly recommend reading it.

I enjoyed this suspenseful, mystery story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites for sure. It is a well written story that made me feel as if I was part of the story. I had no problem connecting with the characters and they pulled me into the story right from the beginning. The twists and turns left me turning pages fast. It is a shorter story that is creative and fast paced. Julie gets a case of her life but will mean losing her life to get the headline? Detective Matthew is frustrated that Julie won’t listen to him but will he be able to protect her before she becomes the next rapist’s victim? I highly recommend this book and this author.
What can I say about Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton. I can say it’s a great little mystery. I can say it has great characters. I can say it has an intricate plot that totally blind sided me. But there’s so much more to this story. Not only has Ms. Hamilton created a great story she doubled it up. You get two for one in this escapade. Madeline’s story and Mike’s story. I love all things Madeline and Mike but I especially love the way Madeline works through her own tragedies. We get an up close and personal look at how someone copes with the traumas of life. Great mystery, great action and just the right touch of good clean romance. Cynthia Hamilton is a name I will remember and one I will only be too happy to pass along to others.

Another great read for this series. Two mysteries send these 2 in separate directions but it doesn’t end there. I hate even thinking of giving something away in a mystery so I’ll let you be the judge when you read this. I cannot wait for the next book after how this one ended!

Girl Trap is the third book in Cynthia Hamilton’s Girl Trap series and another 4 star read. Much like the first two books in the series, Girl Trap provided enough twists and turns in it’s storyline to keep me interested from start to finish. The books flow well and honestly, I continue to enjoy Madeline and the character growth and progression she’s shown throughout the series and I truly look forward to seeing what else Madeline (and Cynthia Hamilton) has in store for us.

Madeline is back again in this third installment in the series. This book is interesting as it has two plot lines happening…and I found myself intrigued to find out what would happen with both of them. Mike and Madeline are still running their party planning business and their PI firm. Mike, the crazy ex, makes himself known again in this story. However, this time we are left with an unknown conclusion to the story…so I am thinking there is going to (hopefully) be another book that will let us know what happened!
I enjoyed this book. It was fun to read and kept me guessing what was going to happen next. You don’t necessarily have to have already read the other stories in the series to understand what is happening (but it adds to their back story). Another good book in this series!

Girl Trap (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is a riveting read. As with the other two books in the series, Maddie is a powerful female lead. However, in this book, Mike, her partner, also gets to come into his own. When Madeline is tasked with tracking down a missing person, who hasn’t been seen in 10 years. Mike is off on a mission of his own, to track down his cousins missing girlfriend and her sister. I really liked how this book had two completely different mysteries to solve and this gave the characters a chance to shine individually. I also love the twists in the tale, I didn’t expect that ending! Really enjoyable read and as always I eagerly anticipate the next edition of the series.

I have never had the pleasure until now to read anything penned by JD Spero, and I am so glad that I have. Boy on Hold is a very raw and realistic look into the lives of a boy, Hen Trout and his family’s battle with addiction, mental illness, and shocking murder. This family sees it all and the author does a very good job at keeping things authentic and realistic. Everything comes off as raw and real as you read that you can’t help but feel the same emotions that the characters are struggling with. I loved how this kept you on the edge of your seat and had a slow build throughout the story. It was impossible for me to put this book down until I reached that last page. I not only had to know how things would come to be for the family but even more wanted to keep reading because it was just that good. I felt transported right there and I can’t wait to see what else JD Spero has to get lost in soon! This is one you don’t want to miss!

Girl Trap is the 3rd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a fast paced, thrilling detective series with gripping storylines and great characters. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone but I think you’d get a better understanding of Madeline and Mike’s characters and their background. In Girl Trap, Madeline and Mike are both working on different missing women cases so we get the added bonus of 2 great stories at the same time. Madeline is looking a Hannah, who has been missing for 10 years. Her mother is dying and wants to reconcile with her estranged daughter before she dies. Well, that’s the story she tells Madeline. What unfolds is a completely different story that has a very unexpected ending that you will not see coming. At the same time Mike is looking for his cousin Jesse’s missing girlfriend and her sister. I have to say that this particular story had me more gripped than the story Maddie was working on. This storyline leads you into the dark and murky world of woman trafficking. This book took me a little longer than the first 2 in the series to get gripped by, but once I did, it gripped me hard and I could not put this book down. Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a well thought out thriller that will really have you invested in the story and the characters. The more I read of Madeline and Mike, the ore I come to love and admire that people that they have become. Both have overcome some serious adversity in the years preceding these stories. I can’t wait to see what Cynthia Hamilton has in store next for Maddie and Mike.

We are invited into the lives of Marcella, Hen and Tyler. A nice family dealing with normal family issues. But in this story they take a little different avenue. This becomes a mystery or a who did it. We meet other players and learn more and more about Tyler and Hen. Hen only wants to catch a hedgehog and keep the love and trust of his big brother. Tyler is just trying to get through each day. The author did a good job portraying these boys and this family. I came to came about them an hope against hope that they are all in the clear. I did wondered where the title came from when I picked this up. After reading it makes more sense.
The story moves along and easily kept my interest. I loved the characters and they story weaves together nicely.

I am at an absolute loss for words after reading this book, the third in the AMAZING Madeline Dawkins Series. This is definitely the most intense, attention keeping book in the series so far. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, and just could not put it down for the life of me! I definitely recommend this book, and the series as a whole. I very much look forward to the release of the next book and reading more from the very talented Cynthia Hamilton.
