Ahhh! Did it again- what another fantastic book in the Evil Sushi series. Sashimi picks up right where Evil Sushi left off and it was an INCREDIBLE ride. I didn’t know how I would feel about this book considering how much I loved the first one- but I really like it! The science fiction is still present but there is so much more to it this go around. It has everything- it’s interesting, entertaining, funny, and thought provoking. I definitely recommend this series friends!

This is my first read by this author, but I don’t think it’ll be my last! This was action-packed from the very beginning and keeps that pace all the way through, with unpredictable twist and turns.
The author does a wonderful job putting together a story by fully developing the world, characters, and the details with each event. I enjoyed the intertwining of current events (COVID) that enhanced parts of the story to be more relevant and enjoyed the underlying mystery throughout the book. It definitely keeps the readers attention and is difficult to put down!
Josie, through events both past and present, finds herself in the middle of mystery that threatens her life. She knows if she doesn’t solve it, her life as she knows it, may be over! I don’t want to ruin anything, so just do yourself a favor and read it!

I made the mistake of reading book 2 before book 1 thinking it was a stand alone series. Once I realized my mistake I went back to read book one. I highly suggest reading Book one first as you will so lost reading book 2. The thrills in this book had my skin crawling. I love sushi but man, this had me questioning my favorite food group! This series is turning out to be so good and I’m not much of a fan of Zombies, but are these really zombies is a good question to ask yourself! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Josie is a soon to be divorced mother of two pretty sweet kids. Eddie is her soon-to-be ex-husband who is a narcissitic psychopath of a medical doctor turned drug dealer. Josie lives in a cabin that she bought from her parents….or are they?? She loves her little cabin and will do everything she can to protect herself and the kids from Eddie. He’s terrified of the cabin after all so as long as they are there, they’re safe. Word starts to make rounds of a horrible virus infecting the people of China. It’s making it’s way to New York and Josie starts to panic. It’s not the first time she’s panicked over something though. She saw a pink body floating in the river when she was 12 and has never been able to get over it. She saw another one just a few weeks ago but she’s not calling the authorities just yet. Did she really see it or did she just think she did? Travis starts coming into the diner where Josie works and offers to pay her a large sum of money to show him around town. She can really use the money, especially if the diner is to close with a pandemic looming. Things start to warm up between her and Travis and then she learns how much she can lean on him. Can he help her to get Eddie out of her life?
This book is full of twists and turns and really kept me engaged. I read this book in a relatively short period of time because it sucked me in and wouldn’t let go! This is my first read by Tom Swyers but I’ve already started looking into other titles! Be prepared to gasp….I did a few times. That’s rare for me too!! I do hope there is more to this story as I’d like to hear more about Jack and Tracy. I think there is definitely a story there for them that could be expounded on! Please read this one and let me know what YOU think!! Also, recommend more books like this one for me! I appreciate that it’s a psychothriller without all the bad language that you often read!

This book was incredibly written and I could not put it down. The author absolutely hit this one out of the park!
The story’s main character, Josie Thompson is an intriguing character struggling to stay under the radar and away from her abusive and unhinged husband. Josie lives a low-key life in a beautiful cabin by the lake, while taking care of her two children, keeping a keen eye open for any evidence her ex may be lingering about and working as often as possible in a dead-end job as a waitress. She has eyes of a hawk and is constantly watching for unknown vehicles trailing behind her on her drive to and from home/work, strange destitute residents lingering outside the diner, or any evidence on Twitter that will pinpoint a possible location for her ex, so they can finalize their divorce.
Josie is stronger than most adults, especially with her history and upbringing, although I do not think she truly recognizes that strength until much later in the story. I enjoyed watching her relationship with her brother David go from almost non-existent and strained to something much improved by the book’s end.
I enjoyed the twists and turns in this thriller and liked that it was not predictable. The author did a fabulous job creating the characters for this book and building on the intensity by adding in the pandemic into the storyline. Overall, this was a quick read since I did not want to put this book down. The suspense continued to push me to keep reading chapter after chapter into the wee hours of the night.
I think all mystery lovers will enjoy this book and the series. I cannot wait to read whatever comes next.

It is very rare for me to give a book a 5 star review and really wish I could have given it more! This book was by far one of my favorite reads so far for 2022! From the first chapter to the last page turn, I was so excited to keep reading! I devoured this book and kept wanting more! I can’t wait to read other works By this author. This thrilled has so many twists and turns I can not recommend it enough.

After bodies are found in the river surrounding her property, Josie is a suspected by the FBI to be a serial killer. She has to prove her innocence, but is unsure of who she can trust. Overall I found the story to be intriguing, with many secrets, twists, and turns.

I was so excited to start reading this book after I enjoyed the last one so much. And this one really lived up to my expectations. I was pulled straight into the story so effortlessly and was hooked straight away. I loved the characters in this book. They all seemed to have such a depth about them and it made them more relatable. I thought the author did an amazing job with the story. It was well written, exciting and exactly what I have come to expect when reading on of her books. This is a brilliant book and I can’t wait for more.

Evil Sushi by C.A. King….Wow! This book was truly a page turner and you never knew what to expect on the next page!! There’s a storm brewing, and it’s not very pretty! The main characters Rod, Ned and Sally definitely have no idea what they are getting themselves into when they go on a typical fishing trip and it turns into an unexpected catch…to say the least! C.A. King definitely knew how to set the plot and how to make you feel like you were in the book right next to the characters. Evil Sushi is a mixture of horror/suspense/love story. Evil Sushi kept me on my toes with the plot twisting every couple of pages. I can’t wait to read Sashimi, book 2 in the series. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat!!

Okay- this was AMAZING. This was the first book I read in one sitting in a long while. If you are a fan of science fiction and the Syfy channel, this is the book for you! I loved how the author really immersed us into the time period and the current events. It was so descriptive and the storyline was fascinating! I love the characters and I am incredibly excited to continue the story! I really can’t put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I have the second one on my kindle and I am about to read it now!

As with everything in Francis’ life there is good and bad. Will Francis, Grace and Damien be able to overcome their problems for a happily ever after or will fate once again cause chaos for them? This was excitingly good. The gripping hold that it has from the very beginning with a conclusion that has you ready for book 2. An empath living a double like ….sexy firefighter and tough nomad. This will have you screaming with joy and full of wonder. Only time will tell us what destiny has in store for these amazing characters. This was a different read then I’m use to but worth every page.

Sashimi follows straight on from Evil Sushi so ensure that you read Book 1 first. It is an imaginative, original, unique, and cleverly written thriller. Things do go bump in the night and hide in the shadows. They destroy people and leave ghost towns in their wake. It is compelling, and a well written story. C.A. has such diversity in her works that you never know what you will get but that is the beauty of her writing style. The story has a little bit of everything to keep you drawn to the pages, such as environmental issues, a few twists, and unexpected turns, danger and anger, secrets and lies, a pandemic and mayhem, mutations and so much more. This tale is a mixture of horror and paranormal, sci-fi, and thriller, mystery, and suspense. With this diversity of genres, it has something for everyone. As with the first book I will not give anything away as I want you to envision each and every bit of it all on your lonesome.

This book is an undeniable thrill to read, so much so that 5 stars just doesn’t seem to do it justice! This one kept me guessing until the very end with so many twists and turns that it might make you dizzy. The plot is amazing and the author seamlessly combined the growing Covid19 pandemic that happened in 2020 into this gripping thrill ride. That kind of takes me back to dealing with the pandemic, shortages, and fear that was ever present!
Josie who is dealing with a terrible not quite ex husband named Eddie, her past discovery of a pink body, and growing concerns of a rising pandemic that everyone in the US is downplaying. As if that’s not enough she discovers a body floating in the river near her cabin, and she becomes a prime murder suspect. After multiple victims surface, Josie is arrested for the murders and is released on bond secured by her cabin and help from a wealthy bachelor who seems taken with Josie. Unfortunately for Josie things just aren’t adding up and she knows if she can find Eddie she’ll be free from murder charges and be rid of her ex. Only the more she finds the more secrets are unraveled. It seems everybody she meets is keeping some sort of secret from her. Can Josie come out on the other side after all these secrets are uncovered? Or is the past doomed to repeat itself and more bodies pile up?
Overall, I did not see where the author was going with this story until close to the very end. The range of emotions you go through while reading this book are immense. Some characters you start out loving only to hate them later on and vice versa. This is a dynamic book that I will recommend to all avid readers that enjoy thrillers. It makes you want to keep coming back until the story is finished and all the secrets are unraveled. Secrets are a terrible thing to keep and sometimes an even terrible thing to overcome!

This is book 2 in the Evil Sushi series. It is a faced paced story following on from the first book so I recommend reading that first. This book is full of action and betrayals and knowing who can be trusted and not trusted. The plot is basically about the world coming to an end being over run by sea mutants that are set on destroying the world and the human inhabitants. No one knows a lot about this species other than they are deadly. Can the team find and destroy the cause of this virus? Will they find a cure to save people that are infected? And at times of danger and stress is the human race worse than the vicious species that are trying to take over?

I loved the first book in the series, and this one certainly had the same effect and appeal on me as the first in the series did! This one I think I may have actually enjoyed it a bit more in truth! This one had just as convincing depth to the story, and a world that is in chaos, and not sure when the end is in sight!
The story continues from the cause and effect of the first one. The strong suspense, and thrill continues in this one as well. I was completely captivated even more with the events that were happening as well as the strong character development that greatly added nicely to the surrounding story. This story is very fast pace and certainly not dull in any form. I loved this series and this installment. I am curious where this could go next, this is a series, as well as book not to be passed up by any means!
I love this author for all the characters and worlds they create. This series quickly became a favorite of mine. And this book alone truly captivated me! Highly recommend tp read this series if you have not had the pleasure yet, and this author too! High recommendation from me as its a must read!

I have been a long time fan of this amazing author, but I have not yet had the chance to read this one. Needless to say I devoured it! It was so good from start to finish, I could not get enough. The world and the characters as well as what was going on, it was a bit crazy but awesome!
A find leads to a change. What would that change bring though? I was involved very much in this book as well with all the characters. This “find” leads to a lot of things, and things get a bit out of this world sort to say, I was on the edge of my seat wanting t o know what would end up happening next! I was hooked, and the story certainly never slowed down and highly kept my interest. I loved the ending how it was left open for part 2. So needless to say, i am looking forward to reading the next installment!
Amazing writing and book. It was different in many ways than I could have ever imagined! I was surely not disappointed! Highly recommend this book and this author! Prepare for sleepless nights!

What a thrilling read! I love a good mystery and this is just what I needed. Josie is a waitress and mom who is living in her family’s cabin. She thinks she is safe until bodies start appearing and she is charged with a murder. Josie doesn’t know who to trust, if she can even trust anyone at all. It seems like everyone is keeping something from her. This book took me on a wild ride from start to finish. I love that you are hit with twists and turns, and left mind blown by the end. It was impossible to put the book down until it was finished. A must read if you love psychological thrillers!

Wow! At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book but from the beginning I was hooked. It is well written, suspenseful and even when you think you know what is about to happen there is a turn! While I wish there wasn’t so much “pandemic” talk its truly a time period we all lived through which made it so very relevant! The good outweighed the bad drastically and it showed by how well the author could keep the readers attention!

This was an interesting read. I don’t read too many thrillers, but the synopsis of this one caught my attention. Josie is a single mother of two children trying to get a divorce from her husband. He was into illegal activities among other things and she was more than ready to move on. When a body shows up a few miles down river from her property she becomes a prime suspect. In a place where everyone seems to know more about her than she does herself, who can she trust? Will she be able to clear her name by investigating and finding her own evidence? Will she be able to find the real killer?

This book was a wild rollercoaster ride! Between some serious fear, some incredible courage, and a will to prove herself there was plenty to keep you on the edge of your seat! I really enjoyed this book and found myself emotional in a few moments where I truly related as a victim of DV. This book had a great balance between hurt and hope and it was easy to follow. A first for me from this author but interested to read more from them! Really worth a read!!

The Last Cabin Girl (Detective Josie Thompson Series) by Tom Swyers. This is my absolute favorite type of book. I loved it sooo much. I can’t wait to read more by this author. This story is about Josie who has finally left her abusive husband with her two kids. She wants nothing more than to leave the small town she’s lived in her whole life and start over but she can’t. Seems like dead bodies are being found in the river behind her cabin a lot! When she found a dead body in the same river when she was in middle school and the body was never found its kind of hard for people to believe her now. When she gets up the nerve to tell the police they arrest her as a suspect for murder! What in the world will she do now? This book is so fast paced and talks about fear of COVID, bullies and a serial killer! Such a good read!

Well this was an unexpected surprise. I guess I started reading this book with preconceived ideas of what this MC book would be like and they were just shot right out of the park. In short, it is a fantastic, rollercoaster read with far more emotion than I originally expected. I slowly fell in love with the wonderful characters as I took every step along the way with them. I truly am looking forward to the next book. I am sure this will be a series I must continue with asap!

Josie is going through a rough time at the moment. Add the pandemic into the mix adds more pressure and life keeps getting harder. Josie family are keeping Secerts from here and she not knowing whom to trust. Who’s hurting and murdering these people is it someone she knows, is it her family. The author done a fantastic job on the book it really is a thrilling adventure that you get taken on with so many twist and turns in the plot your not sure where this book is going to take you.

This is a well thought out and captivating book that caught my attention right from the start. I found myself easily pulled into the story and wanted to find out what was going on. I was a little reticent about reading the book at first, given the overt references to Covid-19. However it did not effect the book at all. It was well developed and intriguing. I wanted to know what was going on and how things would turn out. This really is a great book that I would recommend.

This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up her books as I know what I am in for. One of the things I love about her books is her ability to pull me into the story with ease. Her writing style is such that it brings her books to a new level with each one that I pick up. This book is no different. This is the second book in the series which I enjoyed just as much if not more than the first. The characters are connectable and pulled me into the story from the beginning. They are creative, unique and I enjoyed how supportive of each other they are. They have great growth throughout the story as well. This is a story about finding a cure that could be impossible and making a huge choice that could affect everyone. You don’t want to miss what happens in this book. It is worth the pick up. I really enjoyed reading this book and what it brought to my afternoon. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Behemoth – Grimm Wolves MC Series (Book1) by D.M. Earl Five Stars
This author really knows how to tell a story. Francis (Stitch) is such an unusual character. I wasn’t sure were this story was going when I first started reading, but it blew me away by the time I reached the end. Francis and Grace are wonderful together, but Damien steal the story and my heart. This book is told from many different viewpoints and I really enjoyed getting everyone’s thoughts. This story is action packed from beginning to end. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next. Review by @sunbarn
