The authors have created a completely immersive and all-encompassing world, where after the poles have shifted slightly certain people develop talents, those people are classified the Unhidden. Mostly made up in people with a natural belief in the older ways and those who’s histories are based in magic.<br />It does bring to the forefront that which many of us understand, that of prejudice and how as a human race those seen as different are often targeted before understanding has taken place.<br />This book is the first in the series and I found the characters really well written and their relationships grown and change as the story develops. Some relationships start to bud as we find the areas the Unhidden have settled in around Ireland are attacked by the Pure Earther Movement and others. <br />There is a traitor in their mist, one who has familiar bonds to another Unhidden still finding her strengths. Their healer needs to fight constantly to do her best for those under the protection of PHAE and those in her family. <br />I am going straight onto book 2<br />

This is my first book by this author, and historical is not my usual genre, I liked the blurb and cover so dove in. This is book 2 in the series I have not read book 1 and this is a good stand alone, although I feel book 1 would also be a great read.<br />We follow the story surrounding the Brightley sisters; focusing on Arabella, who feels that she has been cursed by someone at the country fair that her and her sisters snuck out to. <br />The middle of 2 sisters, Arabella is the sensible one, the wallflower, the one people take as the easy, simple quiet one. Behind this facade grows an amazing strong willed female who knows what she wants and of the age works hard to get it. <br />Looking after her sister Rosalind and their father, after Charmaine her older sister elopes to marry her Russian Duke.<br />At a time when men ruled the home and expected their women to bend to their will, with an ailing father and a prospective husband missing suspected dead, Arabella continues steadfast to accomplish and look after those she loves, including Thomas.<br />Although Thomas is not who he portrays himself to be, he has a deep story that he is trying to pout right, can he accomplish this before Bella is forced to step away.<br />I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and would read more.<br />

The Fifth Daughter of Thorn Ranch by Julia Brewer Daily – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

The Fifth Daughter of Thorn RanchThe Fifth Daughter of Thorn Ranch by Julia Brewer Daily
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first book from this author and wow, what an amazing picture is drawn by her words.
In this book we follow Emma, the only child of matriarch and land owner Josie Rosales, as the 5th generation of first and only born daughter in the family, the largest ranch in Texas passes from mother to daughter.
After moving away to college Emma returns home, and whilst her parents go to Europe she goes camping. And it is over a year before anyone sees her again.
Where has Emma been, with absolutely no sign of her or others, who is Kai, and why does Emma feel tied to him?
What a wonderfully written book, full of intrigue and a world that is well described. Involving the modern world, head strong educated women; people that live by completely different rules as if from a time gone by.
I would thoroughly enjoy a second book that takes us through the following years, The Thorn, The Land and The People.

I was looking for a book of pure escapism and it is what I found with this book.<br />The author sets the scene with Vidar a dragon (the last of his line) resides in Dragonhome, inside a mountain, with a distinct inner chamber for their human companions and them to share in their other form. Under a magical binding Vidar cannot resume his other self.<br />Rilla, the only member of her family to survive an attack on her family farm by the terror that is the purple dragon, is then given in sacrifice to a dragon; after it is discovered that she will not bend her will to that of the king’s mage.<br />Set with a mark to enter the companion area of Dragonhome can Rilla bond and help Vidar to overcome this issues brought about by the purple dragon.<br />Mountains, chambers, farms, marks and magic all described fantastically and the story itself is well written and carries you along on the journey from captive to freedom for both parties. I really am looking forward to the next book.

<br />Wow another absolutely stunning read from an author who can describe places and people so well you feel as if you are there.<br />Dia is constantly on the move, protecting her family as best she can, and trusting no one, after they were betrayed by her lover, in the past and hunters found her family.<br />Enter the betrayer, they are captives together, Kano cannot believe he is with Dia again especially after what transpired the last time. The sparks truly fly.<br />He never wanted <br />any harm to come to Dia and her family.<br />Add Milos into the mix and the threesome ignite fires and produces steam with their relationship, and maybe together they can help to bring the family back together and an end to the tyranny of the hunters. <br />I cannot wait to read more of this series<br />

What an amazingly descriptive book by a new to me author.<br />The world described can easily be pictured; the description of the food does literally make your mouth water.<br />We meet Ember a shifter frim Maori descent, in hiding in Wyoming, living with her dad and running her business. Her life is her café and wanting her sisters back.<br />Austin is a television chef moving around the country in and old RV, making a documentary on BBQ food, when the aforementioned RV breaks down and leaves them stranded in the small town where the only place to get real food is Embers Café.<br />The relationship slowly builds, as Ember and Austin spend time together. As they move to the solstice Ember knows her secret may soon come to light.<br />A lovely book that I could easily visualise every part of<br />Looking forward to moving onto the second story.

I did enjoy this book, I found the story between the two main characters Quinnlan and Garrett was really sweet and I enjoyed their relationship development, especially how things ended and the family vibe that came along with it. I found that with many story stories it is hard to embellish on the background and build the characters to pull you in, and I would of really liked the story to be longer and more in depth.<br />I would read more by this author.<br />

Wow what an amazing addition to the Philly Heat series by this author. The third book in a row I have read straight through.<br />We are introduced properly to Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Beasley, the Assistant Chief Medical Examiner, who we have met briefly in the first two books as a friend to the leading ladies in their stories. Trudy is a force of nature herself, having been brought into the fold researching the child killer previously, she seems to be hooked and overly invested in the case brought to her when a gas explosion levels houses and not only does she need to do her best for the recently deceased but bones from multiple bodies (including that of a baby) are uncovered.<br />She brings in Forensic Anthropologist Ben Roberts to deal with the bones as this is outside her remit, although she suspects foul play. Ben takes the case forward in a purely scientific one.<br />They are both dragged into this case further than they would anticipate, further murder, abduction and more questions than answers to begin with bring the whole team, and support network together.<br />The fastest paced book of the three I have read, emotional rollercoaster as you follow the: who, when, where, why how as well as the budding relationship between Trudy and Ben.<br />Another fantastic read by this author.<br />

What happens when you work with the most annoying person ever, and you are dealing with a break up.<br />Evelyn has been working with Devlin, they work well together, but she finds him immensely annoying, when she comes to work after the breakdown of her relationship Devlin makes a suggestion that they go out, as work colleagues often go out…. <br />Devlin is not wanting a relationship but he cannot get Eve out of his mind, but he is promoted at work, so instead of being her colleague he is her boss, and work has a strict non fraternisation policy, one of them could lose their job, and as the boss it would not be him.<br />An enjoyable read that keeps you guessing as the author puts into play a few plot twists and story curves that I never saw coming until it happened. Secrets and Family bring these characters to the forefront as you watch them navigate their way through their ‘relationship’<br />I would certainly read more from this author.<br />

If life was fair maybe Evelyn and Damien would have had a happy ever after from the beginning<br />Except when Evelyn’s father steps in and bribes the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, and his parents to leave the area, and his daughter alone: Damien has the a rough transition, juvenile detention and then a job that entails him to live the life of another. Secrets follow both of them as they become totally different people.<br />Believed to be dead Damien lives the life that he never wanted to bring Evelyn into, but he can’t help himself as she literally tags along (to begin with). How can he keep her safe while filling both their dreams, whilst battling their pasts that can drown them both?<br />Can Damien keep her safe, can she live with is lies?<br />I found this book to be consuming and the characters grow and you follow then hoping that they finally get their happy ever after. The storyline evolves and has many twists and turns. If you like second chance romance, with a hint of dark, mafia and some erotic themes then this is certainly the story for you. <br />

If you like your mafia family deep and devoted with slightly convoluted family members, from the old school to the new Don and the backstabbing other members, the Boss deep and dark and your heroine with a past then this is the book to read.<br />We follow the Larussio crime family as they set up their extended business in Vegas. Kidnappings, shootings and underground hideouts are all deeply seated in this world that hooks you and takes you deeper into the mafia network.<br />Adrianna Palento starts working as the Doctor at the new complex built by the Larussio’s on the strip, she is Doctor at the Emergency Care Unit for the hotel, and on call for the members of the family should they need attention. And the family members need more than most. The Doctor has a secret , one that she needs to keep especially from the family. This is not easy especially when you are thrown into a safe house facility with the high ranking members of the family after a dramatic shootout. <br />Salvatore is groomed to take over the family when the time comes; his family and cousins are mostly behind him. After the attack throws him into close quarters with the Doctor, and her secrets, how can he keep her alive, especially as his interest in her becomes all consuming? <br />The family, their business partners and their love lives are brought together in a well written story that keeps you wanting to come back for more. I can’t wait to read the next book to see how the characters continue to grow.<br />

Not my usual Genre, but I was quickly immersed into the world, where we meet Dravos the Hirudian, (a form of alien vampire, that is an amazing tracker of things and people) finds that a reading given to him by an elder on his world comes true. He has been jailed for life, experimented on, and made to be larger in size than what is normal for his species. He is promised freedom if he works as a tracker on a mission with the Space Force. <br />Ravenna talks her way onto the mission to hopefully find her girlfriend.<br />Dravos senses that the elusive female captain is his mate, the other half of his soul that he never thought he would meet. And she is literally given the ability to end his life. <br />The story unfolds with drama, lust, grief, underhanded behaviour, missing crew members, traitors. Who do you trust, how will they find the answers to what happened to the crew of the missing scientific vessel.<br />And we watch as the relationship between Ravenna and Dravos grows, both of them trying to justify their feelings alongside finding retribution and acting on the behalf of those killed, how to complete their mission. And answering the question about what is at the centre of the universe.<br />A very well written book that has great world building and character development. I would certainly read more by this author.<br />

What an emotionally intriguing read. This is the first book by the author |I have read, and it won’t be the last. The story is so well written, and characters are brought to life that I feel that I know them. <br />In this book<br />we follow Mavis and Josh’s relationship. Childhood sweethearts, Josh is planning to follow his dream and become a doctor, Mavis not wanting to stop him and get in the way of his career leaves when she realises, she is pregnant. <br />Through unfortunate circumstances she ends up seeking out Austin (Josh’s brother).<br />Josh can never know that Austin knows where Mavis is, especially after his divorce from Mavis’s high school nemesis.<br />Can Josh and Mavis have their happy ever after, what about Austin, does he deserve to be happy with the girl he loves?<br />As I have said a really well written fast paced book that can easily be read in one sitting is you don’t mind a book hangover.

In the second book of the series, we see Mikayla returning back to Grave Digger Academy for her second year in the paranormal academy system. Usually, it is now that the students find some have transferred to other academies but not his year. The school has been entered into the inter academy competition.<br />It is most important for the Grave Diggers to pull together and succeed, winning will no doubt mean that the academy is safer than it is within the system and improve their status amongst the paranormal world.<br />We follow the students we met in the previous book, watch them develop more of their characters and magic; staff members old and new are always having an input.<br />Once again C.A.King has drawn me into their world and they continue to build it keeping the reader hooked, certainly a read that is difficult to put down. I can’t wait to read the next one and see what happens. <br />

This is a new author to me, and I admit it took me a couple of days to get into the story (maybe due to timing more than anything else) but once I got to grips with the reasoning behind Makaylas dislike with being sent to Grave Digger Academy instead of one of the other better thought of academies in the paranormal academy system, I fell hard into the story. There is a distinct building of character and plot which holds you in their world.<br />Makayla is a seventh born to a witch family, this in itself is a thing of myth, as well as being the only girl this continues to follow the myth. First years of school are not allowed access to areas or town, they have not been taught the art of the Grave Digger, but Makayla and her counterparts (as friends is a too strong description) are determined to find their own way. We discover as we wave through the story that there are secrets a few generations ago and this along with magical jewellery, is Makayla the one to bring back to force the art of Necromancy. Once the first years have found their familiars Makayla stands out even more. Add to the intrigue the seemingly forgettable Griffin and possible Tutor turner evil Professor Wooly.<br />I cannot wait for the next in the series as I know I will enjoy reading how the story continues.<br />

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale, #1)Ashes by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

finish school, without being in trouble, they are sent to Redmond High.
Harry and Ashley feel an instant attraction, but are faced with many obstructions. They are told they cannot see each other.
With the step family and the popular girls at school trying to intervene in the friendship Will Harry and Ashley make it…
Throw in attempted murder, fairy involvement and cliff hanger ending; this is a great read that links together contempary romance, mystery and fairytale. Certainly an engaging read.

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark Book 2) by Deborah Garland – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark #2)Hard Lover by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had my work life balance allowed I would have read it in one sitting. It is an emotional, dramatic and occasionally dark best friends little sister romance.
This is the second book in the series, but is great as a stand-alone, I can defiantly say I am going to go back to the start and read the first book.
Callie Rose has for years hidden the fact that she has feelings for her brothers’ best friend. After her parents are jailed, she is raised by her brother so her relationship with him is extremely close. And his view of his little sister is that of one that he needs to protect, as their father is not around. Studying at College Callie makes the decision to try and win the affection of Noah.
Noah an Army veteran has a past that he is trying to keep in the past. He has someone who is threatening those he becomes close to. His boss and best friend know nothing about this, and although he has feelings towards his best friends sister, he knows he cannot put her at risk by having a relationship with her. He vents his sexual feelings at The Stable, the local sex club. This works well until the night Callie Rose sits there watching him. But who else is watching, as his past continues to follow him, car accidents, attacks and drugging all add up to an all-encompassing read with a healthy smattering of explicit content.

Blood Sector (V-Clan Book 1) by Lexi C. Foss – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Blood Sector (V-Clan #1)Blood Sector by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow I can’t rate this book highly enough, if you like your wolves interesting and honourable and your Alphas to be Strong, and in charge (especially dominant in the bedroom), your Omegas to be caring and give their all then this may well be the book for you. Dark shifter dystopian romance with a twist that shows even those with honour and think they are doing the right thing can make mistakes.
Princess Quinnlynn promises herself to the one Alpha who is not fighting for her attention after the untimely death of her parents. Before they can commit fully Quinn leaves.
A century later Kieran finds his Omega in the most unlikely of situations after following every lead to find her. He must keep her safe, keep her with him and contained but earn her trust so that she will give him her reasons for leaving him. Can he help secure and keep contained the family secret that has been left for Quinn to protect, before the magic needed leaves her disassociated from her wolf and alone forever.
Can they be what each other need to mend their broken souls, learn to live again, lead their people and love each other…
I am certainly looking out for the next book in this series and going back to read prior work from this author.

Insatiable Darkness (Vigilant, #0.5)Insatiable Darkness by L.M. Preston

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, honestly I am reeling from reading this book. Managed to read it in a day, literally could not put it down for too long.
Aimee aka Wheels, found abandoned as a new born on Dai de los Muertos, taken on and raised by her finder Yolanda, Wheels an honestly open and free spirited look on life; and it is no surprise that she lives life to the full. Living in an empty building looking after a family of cats, she has such a wide and diverse group of friends. From gang leaders and their grandparents, to shop keepers and Jazz singers the group of people that surround her is as colourful as it is diverse. Not held back by the constraints of a normal life she works as a parcel courier using her skateboard to get around. Aimee is a true heroine, showing us how strong a female can be.
Sheikh Qadir, crown prince and business man cannot be further from the life Aimee lives. He is transfixed by the small in stature but larger than life girl that attempts to and does save his life when he is targeted by terrorists. The one his Chosen, his feisty saviour. Their relationship is destined to be left incomplete when Aimee is taken into witness protection as her life is threatened after she sees a dirty cop kill his partner whilst trying to get hold of photos of mercenaries and their crimes in Qadirs home country.
After years later due to witness protection, when Qadir finds Aimee is still alive, I found myself cheering for the couple as they try to find their way back together.
The story is fast paced and hooks you straightaway, the characters are constantly growing and evolving, showing human strength and emotion. The world that is built by the author is bright and intriguing. Definitely a book worth reading, I hope the rest of the series is as engaging.

Someone Exactly Like Me (Wounded Hearts, #1)Someone Exactly Like Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really, really loved this book, the slow burn, between Destiny and Nicco is thoroughly engaging. This is truly a heart-warming, slow burn friends to lovers, a great book to read.
Coming from a bad relationship, finding her fiancé with his best friend obviously makes Destiny
Helping her best friend Candi who is a photographer out with a lighting check romance author Destiny is put literally in front of her celebrity crush Nicco.
She does not trust his playboy persona, he cannot get her out of his mind, and she cannot forget him. They make an agreement to help each other out, her to help him move his career forward and him to allow her access to his daily life and some of his past to help her writing. We follow them in their cat and mouse relationship. And watch as their characters grow and develop.
Nicco goes all out to prove he is more than the Italian playboy actor he shows the world. And Destiny needs to overcome her self-image to feel settled in their friendship and allow herself to move on.
They both need to open themselves to love and live life to the fullest. Again I cannot say enough how much I loved this book.

Triad Resumption: Part Two (Grimm Wolves MC Book 6) by D.M. Earl – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Triad Resumption, Part Two (Grimm Wolves MC #6)Triad Resumption, Part Two by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so glad I could go straight onto reading this after book 5 as there is a definite cliff hanger.
Chains has been found but he is in a critical situation. Winnie and Jackson are left waiting to hear if their man will survive, and are unable to do anything to help, they know not only that he is physically in a bad way and in need of medical assistance but they know that mentally he will be in a very bad place. They are unsure if he will recover and come back to them.
We are introduced to Pussy and continue to learn about Wild, and Tinks and her female MC. As well as being introduced to Thor and Mavis who both have deep issues in their past.
On returning home the story continues as there are attacks and continuance of the MCs trying to find who is behind all of the troubles.
We follow Chains, Jackson and Winnie, as well as the MCs as they work together to get answers and bring down a child trafficking and paedophilia ring. And we discover how Chains, Jackson, Thor and others are involved.
This book like its predecessor continues to be dark but deep and pulls you along on this very engaging rollercoaster of highs lows and sharp turns.

A Tormented Man’s Soul Part 1 (Grimm Wolves MC Series Book 5) by D.M. Earl – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

A Tormented Man's Soul, Part One (Grimm Wolves MC #3)A Tormented Man’s Soul, Part One by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book grabs you, drags you in, throws you around and spits you out. The characters and storyline is deep. A Dark Romantic Suspense is exactly what it is, and some people may find it has triggers.
WE follow Chains (Nicky), Jackson and Winnie and their triad relationship, digging up the past and moving onto the future.
Their abusive and dramatic past, in care (where they are abused both sexually and mentally) is brought to the present when Chains is abducted and his past comes repeats itself.
Winnie and Jackson are fraught waiting for news of the third member of their triad. The MC family pull together to find their missing Enforcer, support his family and are shocked to hear what they have lived through and why they are as close as they are.
There is a big veil of uncertainty as no one knows who is behind the abduction, it is someone who knows the threesome and their past, someone who has access to people and places, and someone who does not have morals, and they are not above hurting children or adults. Can they get the answers they need to solve the issue and find their missing man?
Other MCs come to their aide and I hope that the author expands the books to include these amazing characters. We meet people from Chains past that were assumed dead, people who are survivors and supporters of in these situations.
This book is amazing and I am glad I can go straight on to read the second part as the story certainly needs to be concluded. I found it difficult to put the book down, but found myself needing to take a break as the dark side of the writing needed to sink in.

Seductively Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 3) by Anise Storm – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Seductively Yours (Titans Of Manhattan, #3)Seductively Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The third book in the Titan of Manhattan series, and wow: I found it almost impossible to put down.
The Titan we follow this time is Mason Steele, who owns and oversees nightclubs. Surrounded by beauty and women constantly, his rule is that he does not mix business and pleasure; he will not date or sleep with those he employs.
Rhyann is dreaming of making it big on the dance stage, securing a full scholarship to the college of her dreams. Moving out and leaving behind her small town and family she realises that studying and living needs money to survive. Alongside her roommate they audition at the Vault as dancers. A club that they frequented before and Rhyann had had a one night stand with a mysterious man.
Things get worse when her grades start to suffer and news spread that Rhyann is working at the club. Propositioned and attacked she returns to the safety of her family. Can Mason make things right for her.
Will Mason follow his wishes and bring Rhyann back home for their happy ever after. I really cannot wait to read more about this group of Alpha men and the women that they fall for.

Victoriously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 4) by Anise Storm – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this is by far the most emotional read of the series, I have found myself following the highs and lows (and there are many), in this the steamiest of the Titans of Manhattan series.
Jonas Courtland developer of hotels and playboy of the Titans determined not to fall in love and has a continuous string of conquests.
We follow him revisiting the past where in High School his issues stem from, a past he never thought would have to deal with.
Makenzie the outsider, daughter of the local preacher is taken in by the words and actions of young Jonas, their relationship grows and then devastation when recordings of the pair are thrown out there for all to see.
Makenzie whilst dealing with her feelings is taken into hospital and treated for various mental health issues, a pregnancy and adoption. Working hard to find herself, get her career underway and her issues under control until she interviews for a position in a hotel running the restaurant and comes into contact with Mason.
Can both of these loveable but damaged people make a go of it this time round? They both deserve their happy ever after.

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan #2)Imperfectly Yours by Anise Storm

This story touches on the devastating trigger points of miscarriage and infertility.
Like the previous member of the Titans (Caspian) Anton is foot loose and fancy free, money is no object and fame has brought him notoriety. His money cannot but happiness without heartache.

We follow their relationship and observe it grow, love is amazing, everyone is happy. Until they are not: Pregnancy is never easy especially when your husband is married to his career. Things are thrown off of kilter when Elsa loses her baby then fights after to find like many do that it is an infertility issue, stress and emotions run high in this book. Relationship stress and the emotional rollercoaster take you on the ups and downs that many of us face.

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan, #1)Conveniently Yours by Anise Storm

The first book in the series Titans of Manhattan, we meet Caspian Archer, one of the four most eligible bachelors of the area.

We follow their rekindling friendship as it moves to a relationship that they did not see or want ot admit happening.
Fast paced and complicated relationship, a really good read.

Caging Grace (Grace Series Book 1) by Carsen Lane – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1).Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1). by Carsen Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a lovely read,
Grace is a young girl when her father dies in the underground fight ring, leaving her to care for her mother and younger sister, and how do you do that when you are from the less affluent area of the city?
You do what you know, you fight.
The story follows Grace as she comes of age and moves up the ranks of the underground fighting. Juggling caring for her family, a job and her own memories. Spotted by an up and coming company she moves into the UFC. We watch the characters evolve and her group of supporters and those who care for her grow, how she affects their lives.
Touches on themes of mental illness, desperation and shows those that you choose as family are not always blood.
Really well written, making you feel as though you are one of the team. An author that I cannot wait to read the next book from.
