As soon as I read the description of Smoke and Mirrors, I knew all plans were off until I finished reading. A serial killer and clues to follow that are too good to be true? Nothing gets past Dahlia for long but the ride in between is phenomenal. I’ve read the previous books and love Dahlia as well as her relationship with Detective Creed. Their banter is genuine in both its irritation and respect.
The two worlds involved are incredibly rich in the details provided and, while I never suggest reading a series out of order, the reader is given enough to get by on the previous events bother normal and supernatural. But why dive into the the third when the set up is the best part?!
All types of readers will enjoy this book and the entire series. It’s mystery with supernatural poured on top, deliciously mixed in, and with a list of compelling characters, C.L. Schneider will have you hooked.

Death and the Crone (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie was a hooking, unique, outstanding read, that had me flipping the pages late into the night. Why does work have to ruin good books?

Not my first read by this author or in this series, I was super excited to get my hands on it. I will say that this book isn’t actually book three of the Lucky Devil Series, it’s a story set in that world, with different MC’s and plot. So it can be read as a standalone, and as a side story to the main one. But I do suggest reading the other books, because they are, amazing.

This book was so fun, unique and just, wow. It took the over used concept of the 100 year old supernatural something or other, that falls in love with the 16 year old minor, and flips it on its head. This book was all about taking those over use tropes and clichés and destroying them, while making new ones. The plot itself is original, and grabs your attention right away. Like the other books, this book has that spark of adventure and danger, keeping you engaged. The detail was movie like, and helped round out the story and characters.

Overall this book is a super high recommendation from me. So please take my stamp of approval that, this book will hook you right from that opening scene, until the last pages of that wicket closing ending.

Trickster’s Hunt (Three Tricksters #1) by Carrie Whitethorne was an okay read that had an interesting concept, and a unique plot.

My first read by this author, I went in with an open mine. There are so many unique things and elements in this book that kept me reading and made it enjoyable. I loved the cat, like I want one.. a talking one. But there are some things that made me fall out of this story and caused me to be distracted.

The plot was slow moving and I found there was a lot of emphasis on the MC’s job, and the competitive eating. It actually stalled the plot at times, and in truth I skipped a lot of that. As interesting as it was, it just took away from the main plot. The MC, was, okay, I’m hoping she develops more, in the books to come, but for a first introduction it was, so-so. I was actually thrown off by the opening, and the way she describes how “Normal” she was. It was a little over the top, and for me, didn’t quite do the trick.

Overall this wasn’t a bad read. I loved the unique plot, I can’t say it, because I don’t want to spoiler that wonder, but I can tell you it isn’t like anything you’ve read before. And that cliff hanger, way to leave a girl in suspense. So give this book a chance, it has potential, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I‘m a Texan living in England with my charismatic husband. You see, he’s English, lived in England his whole life. He’d never been to the States until he met me…online. Brienne Dubh comes from a performing background with over 10 years acting experience. Studying performing arts and theater at college she then went on to university where she studied creative arts. Brienne has worked as a producer working on various film projects before going on to set up her own production company.

In 2010 Brienne took a step back from producing realizing that her passion for writing was taking over. With experience of both production and post production processes, she is a trained video editor and has also written and produced several short film scripts, one of which premiered at the Corona Cork film festival. Originally from England, after a few years of travelling the world Brienne moved to Ireland where she currently lives on a homestead with her husband, 2 young daughters, 10 chickens, and a cat named Tilly. Brienne now spend her days coming up with imaginative stories where you can escape everyday life.
