I’ll start off by saying that I did not read the first books in the series, however I stick found it enjoyable. The main character Julia gives a recap in the beginning of her past, that helped slightly but once I got into the story I got the gist of things. Julia is dealing with the consequences of her betrayal of her Ka-tet. It’s like a bonded group of Vampires. She feels herself losing her mind all the while yearning to fix things between her and her friends. But honestly some betrayals are just too much to forgive. The fear of her apparitions returning and ruining her life again, has her seeking aid from Mathew who at first is very reluctant to be near her again but eventually realizes that something more sinister is happening . The author has constructed an amazing world lore around Vampires and I think most will enjoy it.

This was an entertaining read. The plot was easy to follow and characters were well written. This author keeps things interesting. I would recommend reading the series in order.

Between Darkness & Light is the third book in the War of Destiny series. This is a Paranormal Fantasy that I truly enjoyed reading. This is a fast paced story that once you start reading its really hard to put down. I highly recommend reading the first two books if you haven’t already started them as they are just as good as this one. Julia is back and tales us on quite the adventure .She finds herself having to ask for help with repairing relationships. Her and Matthew are determined to figure out who is behind Destiny being altered? Can they figure it out? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I have loved this series! Book 3 has taken me even deeper yet again with Donovan and Shirley, and I could see as clear as day things were about to get very complicated. Book 3 brings back the devilish Coalition who want Donovan and his family at all costs and they are using any means necessary. Its become clear they are out to get anyone and everyone who is not a full breed vampire, and they are ready to go to war for it. As time runs out Donovan and Shirley must save not only their family but the fate of the world at hand who is now at the hands of the Coalition. With humor, drama, suspense , and only the charm Donovan can provide we watch as he sets out save everyone in what may be the very end as the paranormal world and the human world preparing for a fight to the death.

I enjoyed this one as much as the first two. I would strongly suggest reading this series in order just for the background and charter building. Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! is the second book of the Donovan Trait series. The story picks up where book one ended; if you have not read book one I would suggest reading it first. Trait and his love interest Judge Shirley Magnusen are set to marry. Since it is a vampire marriage it is far more complicated than a human one. The couple must sign an agreement with the Vampire Coalition. 1. Magnusen must be turned and 2. conception and pregnancies of any kind the Coalition has control of. When it is discovered that the couple did not uphold their end of the deal they go on the run while trying to find a solution. Will they find one? Will they be safe? Can they protect their family? Will the changes lead to bigger issues among the vampire community?
I would recommend reading this story if you enjoyed the first and want to see what adventures await the couple.

It starts with an odd text, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all lawyers! Starting with you!”, thinking it is nothing but a bad joke lawyer Donovan Trait brushes it off. Soon after Trait finds himself in a hospital bed recovering from a stab wound that should have killed him. Trait has a secret though….he is a vampire and not that easy to kill. Even after being stabbed Trait does not really think there is much of a threat, that is until another attempt is made on his life. Now Trait is faking his demise in order to try to discover what is happening. Soon others in the legal field are murdered as well. Why is this happening? Who wants him dead? Why kill the others? Are those he cares about being targeted as well?
This is the first book I have read by Kay. I enjoyed the characters and can’t wait to see what comes next! I would recommend this book.

When I saw book 3 in the Donovan Trait Series I was so excited to dive on in! I highly recommend reading this series in order to as book 3 continue where book 2 left off at.
Donovan and Shirley are battling to protect their children as the Vampire Coalition wants them all dead. The Trait’s are trying to raise their family with the freedoms that they deserve…but it been a battle and a true uprising for Donovan and his family and to all half bloods to stand up and take charge so no one has to fear any longer of the Vampire Coalition and their hardcore rules. Suspense, game plans, vampires and some romance leads into a great story!!

Apparently, I have been craving some major Vampire vs. Vampire hunter action. Along with reading this novel, I also was one of the many that have gotten hooked on the show First Kill, and I have to say, this novel took precedence over my show binging while recovering from a cold, which says a lot! I absolutely loved the way the characters developed over the course of this adventure, and how they just couldn’t keep away from one another. Action, undeniable chemistry, and two crazy people by their own right, and even more so together!
This author has a special talent when it comes to starting the novel off, and keeping the readers nose deep in the pages until the very end. At least, that’s why I think, as this is the first, and certainly not the last novel I will be reading by them, especially when it comes to the sassy and egotistically combination that are Sam and Layla! Well done, will be reading this series and recommending it, no doubt.

This book is the 2nd book in a series. I loved the first book and was so excited to read this one. I felt like the 1st book was almost a vampire tale of domestic violence. At the beginning, I was a little disappointed in the first half of the book. Julia was kind of wishy washy and completely naive about Samuel. But then I really got into the book! The second half was so good! The Resistance’s fight with Valentino picked up. Julia definitely took a step back into domestic violence which is so true to what many women experience. I loved it and cannot wait to read the 3rd book!

This is another fantastic addition to thia series and easily my favourite book so far. I never struggle to get straight back into the story and the characters. This story was just as gripping as the others and I could not put it down. It was exciting, fast paced and so well written. The author has created a brilliant and original story that, so far, is not getting old. Each story progresses on from the last and builds on the characters and their journey. This is a fantastic story that I would strongly recommend to everyone.

This was an incredible story. When I first started reading it I didn’t realise it was the third book in the series so I quickly red the reviews on the first two and felt like I had an idea of what was happening but to be honest it didn’t really matter because the story was so exciting to read I just fell into the storyline and wasn’t let out until the very end. I have read a few books by this author which I was I automatically just grabbed this one and as usual it was everything I’ve come to expect from her – engaging read, great characters, well written and much more. I really liked Donovan and Shirley, what a great couple, they made some pretty huge sacrifices in this story with consequences that may not of made for a happy ending. I really enjoyed this story and I will definitely be making a point to read the first two in the series now!

Aghhhh! No one does dark paranormal romance like this author! I really enjoyed the first Casket Girl book and this one was written just as well- if not better. The characters storylines were so beautifully written and intertwined so well (not to mention that the characters themselves are written amazingly!).
There are so many paranormal elements like witches, demons, and sparks flying through the air. Blood & Vengeance was so incredibly hard to put down- i don’t think I did more than once (as it was the same Blood & Ravens.) I can’t wait for more from this author!

This is book 2 in the Casket Girls series. I would really recommend reading the first book before this one so you get an idea of the characters and their stories.
We are back with Desiree and the rest of the Casket Girls. Now living with Greer’s love Theron they are save from the life they had before. After being used to feed vampires Desiree is determined to rid the world of the remaining vampire nest so with the help of Theron they embark to do just that. During this time the meet with Jaxon. He was a vampire who was part of this nest but he comes to Theron and Desiree wanting to change and learn to live in a way without killing humans. What Jaxon doesn’t expect is to suddenly experience intense feelings for Desiree. However with Desiree’s past experience and hatred for vampires will she be able to see past that and give into the attraction between them?
Add to this story the new threat that comes for them. Once the vampires are all gone the new threat is a witch. This witch has a connection to Jaxon and she won’t stop until she gets him back.

The is the second book in the Casket Girls series and it is also the second book that I have read from the author. I honestly loved this book. I was not able to put the book down until I had finished it from the beginning to end. Blood & Vengeance is a dark, paranormal romance that takes place in 1728 New Orleans Desiree knows one thing – the vampires must die. After being freed from the nightmare of being a casket girl, Desiree is ready to take on the remaining nest of vampires still feeding on the citizens of New Orleans. She and Theron, lonely with his love in the Underworld, partner together to root out, and slay, the last of the bloodsuckers. Jaxon, a vampire ready for a new life, joins Theron and Desiree as they finish off the vampires. His only request – for Theron to teach him how to survive without killing. I’m excited to see how to author continues this series and to read more of the books in the near future.

Between Darkness & Light (War of Destiny Book 3) by Theresa Van Spankeren. This is the 3rd book in this series and its really good. Julia is back and her vampire family is shunning her due to things that happened in the previous book. She starts to hear things that no one else can hear so she really thinks she’s losing her mind. When Simon comes up missing she has to enlist the help of Matthew from the Ka-tet family which is the family she betrayed. Julia asking for help is huge because she’s never been good at that. During all this time Julia is feeling very alone and then on top of everything else Hunter’s arrive. Julia knows something very dark is happening all around and she is terrified. Julia feels like she knows the Hunters and that makes her feel even more crazy. Will Julia survive the whole ordeal or will this be the end for her. Read this fast paced paranormal book!

Vive la Resistance by Seelie Kay is a Vampire/Were paranormal romance and is the third book in the Donovan Trait series. Now there is a huge war brewing. The Vampire Coalition wants to eliminate Half-Blood Vampires and Weres and those who have even the faintest trace of their blood. This includes Donovan Trait’s family and their two infant children. Unbeknownst to the Coalition, there are literally millions of Half-Bloods and they are prepared to fight for their freedom. And the Trait’s certainly won’t give in without putting up a fight.
I highly enjoyed all of the Donovan Trait books, but this one was by far my favorite! If you love books with vampires, weres, war with a dose of romance, you may find yourself really enjoying it as well. I certainly did. I definitely recommend reading the first two books before picking up Vive la Resistance. The previous books have a lot of information, situations and character building that entwine with the third book. Otherwise, pick it up and enjoy getting submersed into this fun world with adorable characters!

The first book was amazing from start to finish and this one was just as amazing, if not even more! I loved how this one had even more character development and the writing really pulled you in even more!
I personally was hooked with this one. Reading on Desiree and how she really had her light to shine with her determination really shined bright I would say! She became a very determined leader in this one. She had her sights on something and she went after it. Very admirable reading what she was the first round and seeing her now in this round! Theron and Jaxon are wonderful and the three of them made a wonderful trio. They all had different reasons to be who they are and their dealing with vampires. They each contributed to the story in this each own way. I loved this story and the writing that it possessed and words created!
This book was so freaking good! Could not put down! Was in constant anticipation! I loved this book and the writing so much! Highly recommend this must read book! Not to be passed up for sure! Loved it!

First, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay is the first book to the Donovan Trait series. The confident, handsome Donovan Trait is a vampire casanova that chose to stop aging at 35 years old, but has been around since the late 1700s. Needless to say, he is very well versed with law… and the judges. But suddenly, someone is killing off lawyers and he has to stop whoever this serial killer is and protect himself and the ones he holds dear. Especially his newfound love, Judge Shirley Magnusen.
This was a very fun read for me and I was pulled in from the very beginning of the story by Donovan’s charm. While I love a good vampire romance, this one struck with me differently. It was unique from any other I had read before. These are not your typical vampires, so don’t expect this to be similar to anything you’ve ever encountered, regardless of how many vampire books you’ve read. Definitely recommend if you love vampires, romance and suspense!

Donovan and Shirley are in hiding after being targeted by the Vampire Coalition. When Shirley became pregnant with twins the Vampire Coalition wanted the babies surrendered to them. When Donovan and Shirley refused to do so the Vampire Coalition ordered them dead.

Shirley and Donovan want the best life possible for their children and that involves living in a world where they are free. Rather than stand in the shadows and allow others to fight the war for them, the Traits choose to come out of hiding and make the ultimate sacrifice. They put their own lives on the line in a battle that will be impossible to win.
This book was well written and built up the suspense of the first two books. I admired the bravery of the Trait Family as they stood together as a family in the face of danger. They risked their own lives to save all half bloods and Weres from genocide called on by the Vampire Coalition. It was a risk they were willing to take to give not only their children a better life, but to create freedom and better lives for all vampires, half bloods and Weres. A must read! I highly recommend!

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! is the second book to the Donovan Trait series, by Seelie Kay. Wedding bells are ringing for my friends Donovan Trait and newly turned vampire, Shirley Magnusen! But when Seelie comes down with feeling under the weather, they make a new discovery… she is pregnant! While they are both quite excited about the news, the Vampire Coalition does not mirror their happiness. The Trait’s find themselves escaping to an island for vampires, and is ran by vampire nuns.
I just love the twists in this book. And while I giggled at some of the concepts initially, such as ‘vampire nuns’.. it all WORKS. Seelie makes everything flow together well. Her writing is fantastic and it grips you tight and pulls you into the world she weaves upon the pages. I do recommend reading the first installment before picking this book up. It will be so worth it. I cannot wait to dive into book 3!

When I saw AD had another book, I jumped at the chance to read it. Blood & Vengeance is the intense second book in this dark series and a great paranormal Vampire romance story. AD does dark paranormal romance well. I loved the mystery, the mythology and historical facts of the Casket Girls from the first book and this one was no different.
Greer, who was stolen from her simple life in Paris and her Dark Knight who has been cursed to live as a blood-sucking vampire, Theron set out to fight for not only their freedom but also those of the casket girls.
AD gives us her version of the Casket Girls from the 1700’s in this twisted dark tale. The beautifully weaved story line is well-developed, the world-building vividly rich, and the characters drew me into the dark side. This compelling story had me hooked from the first book but I think this one was better.
Fear, demon’s, curses, darkness, mystery, are just some of what you will find in this gripping tale that the most hardened paranormal reader will love.

I found this story to be very intense and dramatic. One of the Casket Girls, Desiree is now hunting the remaining vampires with Theron. She has brought herself through a rough life only to be kidnapped and brought to another life in New Orleans. Theron is doing his best to keep her safe while Greer is in the Underworld for her 3 months. My favorite part of the story is when Desiree laughs and tells Jaxon that Theron is the grumpy older brother when he asks if they have a relationship. That is the best way to describe them. During their hunt, the vampire that fed off Greer came and tried to kill her. Jaxon came to her rescue. Of course, he had a little favor to ask. This led to more of an adventure after they finished their vampire mission. This story has the best adventures. I found myself enjoying all the mystery, suspense, and having to see what happened next. Jaxon brought the next adventure. He and Desiree had some serious sparks at play. Of course, had to keep those under wrap so no one knew. The story is well-written. It even kept with Book 1 of the series. The plot was smooth with no chunkiness. Toss some romance into the story with a few witches and you have the best paranormal, romantic, suspense that I’ve read in a while. I can’t wait for book 3. I felt the sparks between Lucian and Fossette kick in also. Fantastic series. I would recommend to all my paranormal romance lovers and all my paranormal fans.
