This book follows on from the book First We Kill All The Lawyers and what a follow on. This book is action packed and full of twists. It is definately a story that you won’t be able to put down. You will also feel loads of emotions from happiness to sadness, anger and fear.

This book was so well put together, from literally everything and anything that happened through out! I was very much entranced as if a vampire’s spell as I read through it, the things that happened and characters and how they came to be, it was amazing from start to finish! It was a great read, needless to say!
Donovan makes an appearance after his first sighting in the first novel. Vampire and lawyer. Still has sleek mesmerizing appearance that he brought on in the first novel. I defiantly saw character growth with him in more than one way than the first novel! Shirley and him are finally to get married. They were a power couple in the first novel so I really loved seeing them together and trying to live a good life. Drama seems to follow them and something happens that sets the plot of the book into motion!
Things go from happy getting married to a run for their lives and a fight for the future of their family literally. I loved both Donovan and Shirley as well that they stuck to their guns with what they believed and the book really shoed off to me, the importance of family, and how it is truly worth everything, despite any risks that may come from it!
To achieve what they believed they wanted, they really had to defy all odds! The book was rapid action and a lot of good heart felt moments. I seriously was rooting for this power couple to win and beat the tribunal basically at their own game! All in all, the book was a easy and fast paced read. One I could not put down. I was literally hooked from the beginning all the way to the end!
The book was amazing, and written perfectly. With every aspect I could literally think of possible. For me the character growth, especially with Donovan towards the end of the book, really got to my heart. I loved him and Shirly so much and they became even more likable in this amazing novel! If you enjoyed the first one, I truly feel you will love this one just as much! It truly has a spark that keeps going as you read through it, and its very impossible to put down! I highly recommend this book, well worth a read!

This book was an interesting and fun read. I really enjoyed the twist it did with the issues that come up trying to find out who was killing lawyers and finding out that one of these lawyers was a vampire. Not only is he protruded as a good lawyer, top bachelor and all-around good-looking guy. This guy was very thorough on finding out who did this to him. He’s love and the romance with and for his girlfriend was so well written and passionate that I actually enjoyed reading about the steamy parts when they were together. This is a short fun read that is a must.

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! by Seelie Kay is an intense vampire novel that I was unable to put down! The amount of detail the author portrays is astonishing. I honestly felt like I was in the book! Donovan and his bride, Shirley, end up on the run after breaking their agreement with the Coalition. They were supposed to allow this vampire counsel to oversee their conception of their children, but Shirley ends up accidentally pregnant on her wedding day. What will this family learn along their journey for survival? The author did an amazing job with setting the moods in every different scene. The author was able to portray so much emotion without overdoing it, and I really admited her for this. I do suggest that you read book 1 of this series beforehand if you have not done so yet. It will help you love these characters even more!

Ye Gods! The Law Is An Ass! is the second book in the Donovan Trait series by Seelie Kay and is just as well-woven and intriguing as the first book. Seelie Kay sprinkled a little more intensity over this story but made sure to weave in some light-hearted humour to break up the tension. This is a fun paranormal romantic suspense- with vampires, lawyers, vampire politics and law, agendas, uncovering the truth, and more. And as with the first book, Ye Gods! has an original take on vampire lore. In Book One, we meet Donovan Trait (a highly respected lawyer- who is also a vampire over 300 years-old) and his lady love, Judge Shirley Magnusen. They had quite the ‘adventure’ in the first book, which also resulted in Shirley being ‘turned’. Because of this and strict vampire laws, the couple made an agreement with the Vampire Coalition (the Vampire governing body) that would allow the vampire scientists to ‘monitor’ the conception and birth of their children. But things don’t quite go according to plan- which forces Donovan and Shirley to flee. Will they find a solution to their precarious position before the powers that be force their own agenda? If you loved the first book, then you really will want to grab a copy and dive in. If you have yet to read ‘First, We Kill All the Lawyers’, then I highly recommend that you do before starting on this story. There is important backstory, character details, and key information contained in Book One, which will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. Her books are well written and her use of details give her stories a realistic feel. This book is no different. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the first book as well to help your enjoyment of this series. The characters are connectable and make the story engaging. They are creative and unique. They bring the story to life on each page as well as keep me turning pages to the end. I read this book in one sitting as it is that great. The growth and chemistry of the characters made the story pop. This is a shorter story about vampires and finding the truth. This is a really great story that I loved the characters and the plot. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This book was the second in The Shadow Chronicles series – if you haven’t read the first, I would highly recommend reading it before this one. The author does an excellent job expanding on the story and characters from the first book! Though this book did not exactly follow the storyline from the first book that I expected, I still greatly enjoyed the plot. I also like how it touched on the storyline that I originally expected it to follow, clearly leaving that open for the next installment! The main characters Levi and Tasha were just as enjoyable as they were in the first book, with additional satisfying developments to the antagonists of both this book and the overall series, as well as some of the lesser side characters. If you loved the first book, you’ll love this one for all the same reasons, including but not limited to the endearing characters, the fast-pace, and the steamy romance! I can’t wait to read the third installment in this series and see where it goes!

I really enjoyed the first book in The Shadow Chronicles series! I like how there was a lot of character development for the main characters, despite being the first book in the series. The author does a great job of making you fall in love with Levi and Tasha, and I thought this take on lycans and vampires was interesting and unique from other similar series. I also love how the author made you think you would have to wait a long time for certain resolutions, but brought them sooner than expected. It made for a nice buildup of certain story elements without the wait getting too frustrating! Overall, it was a face-paced, action-packed book with plenty of story-telling, character-building, and steamy romance! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys young-adult style fantasy books!

Forbidden Mate was a really good read! I enjoyed this installment of The Shadow Chronicles much better than the first. To me it seemed like there was more action and excitement. I enjoyed seeing more of the Lycan and Vamp bond, and the treaty that allows them to work together. There were a lot of twists and turns and happenings in this story and that made it a quick read. I loved the first book and the second is even better! We start back up with Levi and Tasha pretty much where we left off. I love all the romance and action in this series! Forbidden Mate is book 2 of The Shadow Chronicles by CR Robertson is so good! I really enjoyed the continuation of Levi & Tasha’s story even more so than the first. It does continue right where the first book left off, so personally I would recommend reading them in order to make sure you get the full story. I want so badly to go into detail but I don’t want to give spoilers! There is so much going on in this story but in a good way. It is action packed with an incredible story line. Levi and Tasha are constantly battling one obstacle after another to be together. I found myself groaning thinking “How are they going to get through this one?”. I love the world that you get immersed in, and how incredible the character development was in this one. If you’re into Fantasy, this is one that I would highly recommend you read.

Wooohoooooo!! Love Love Loved this book. I continue to love these characters and I love a story with lycans, vampires and witches. I recommend reading book 1 before reading book 2. Tasha and Levi, whom should be sworn enemies, but fate has a different outlook and are mates. There are new characters and demon hellspawn to deal with. It is hard not to give any spoilers away, but also Coven Leader Castus character, he is pure evil. If you love paranormal with mystery, love and secrets this book is for you.

Forbiden Mate If you like the first one, well you know what’s waiting for you in the second one, more steam and more action take place in this two lovers adventure. C.R. did it again, I was expecting a lot from this book because of the first one but he actually crushed it, I do cannot tell which one is better, but honestly is so worth it to read them if you are looking for some spice into the paranormal world this series will give you the chills (the good ones) I highly recommend this book for Vamp/werewolves fans that are looking into something out of the normal and with a little extra.
Wow, I could not find another word to introduce and describe this book. Is all you ever wanted, it is true it has vampires and werewolves but with a twist in it that I swear I did not see coming, it was adventurous and sexy.
It made me feel every single emotion since chapter one. To be honest this is not a teenage book and I say that with the best intention because it is what young adults/adults have been waiting for. The way that everything is described and how detailed it is makes you believe that you are in it. I felt like the main character the whole time even when her voice was not present. I couldn’t stop reading it since I got it and honestly it might be one of my favorite books of werewolves and vampires.

Levi and Tasha have a forbidden love, he’s a Lycan, she’s a Vampire and its just getting started! This is an action packed, roller coaster of emotion plus a little spice on the side! I love the use of the Hellspawn in this book, Castus makes me want to punch a wall every time he showed up, especially with what he did to Tasha. I would recommend this series to anyone and can’t wait to see where it continues to go!!

Yes! I have found a new favorite series. This book is the first of an adventure that I cannot wait to continue. A story of werewolf and vampire that puts Twilight in the background, the originality is amazing. The attention to detail when describing the chemistry and building the romance between a female and male lead character will have your head in this book, I couldn’t flip the page fast enough. Vampire, werewolf, and a past that can destroy everything they hold dear. LOVE! The development of these characters and the plot is timeless and worth more than five stars. Does love truly to conquer all or will the past come back with a vengeance ?

Exactly like the first book in this series I would definitely give this book more than 5 stars if I could! Tasha and Levi’s story continues in this book as well as the war they are fighting. Some new developments happen and it keeps you guessing on what in the world will happen next! It is fantastic to the very end! Now don’t mind me as I burn through the rest of CR Robertson’s novels. The worldbuilding in these books was fantastic and that tells me all of their books are going to be up my alley. Happy Reading!

Honestly I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could! I loved every page in this book! While reading I kept wondering how in the world things were going to end up with Tasha and Levi and it was a roller coaster up until the fantastic ending. The ending leaves a great opening for the next book in the series which was even better if possible. This is definitely going down as one of my favorite paranormal series! The Vampire and Lycan lore is absolutely exquisite in these books!

Tasha the Vampire and Levi the Lycan return as they continue to fight for their survival, the Hellspawn are back after a few months of precious respite and now are back to attacking them on a nightly basis, but they are evolving and the way that they attack them is changing too, meanwhile, the two forbidden lovers and mates continue in their fated romance as they swap between being fearless leaders in front of their fellow warriors to being able to show each other their true feelings behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, they are trying to study history of the two races, as well as their genetics and see what they will reveal about their origins and therefore the Hellspawn, but whenever they think that they have found something it just reveals more questions than answers. They are all just trying to use their skills to keep their heads above water and out of the mess created by their enemies, but with each step forwards, they are starting to feel like they are going two steps backward and the tentative and slightly unstable alliance takes just as much work to maintain as hiding the some critical truths from those around them.
Cant the two fated mates find out what is hiding behind the wall of secrets and think of a way to keep the Hellspawn and others who want to destroy what they have at arms length, or will things come between them and rip them apart for good? This paranormal romance is filled with tension and excitement from the get go and keeps you reading as the story unravels before you, it is a rollercoaster of ups and downs which keep you off balance and always guessing what is around the next bend.
