A Second Chance ( Powder River Pack Book 1 ) by Brooke May – Review by Jules Herbert

A Second Chance (The Powder River Pack #1)A Second Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first Paranormal book I have read by this author and to say I am hooked would be an understatement. I will say though, if you aren’t a huge Paranormal fan, don’t worry, I still believe you will absolutely love this series because while the story is about a Werewolf pack at it’s core it’s truly a romance about a man and a woman torn apart by the lies and deception of others.
Derek and Annabelle meet at a young age at school and soon become inseparable with Derek knowing Anna is his fated mate. Lies and deception from others tear them apart for many years until Anna returns to town to deal with her dying father. They are both forced to face the past, find the truth of what really happened and deal with the outcomes.
I just have to mention Spencer, Annas bestie, He is a gem and total crack up. I’d love to see him have his story told one day and find his love with a big bad werewolf.

Shifters, fated mates and romance
This is the third book in The Powder River Pack series. This is Brandon and Macy’s story and it is full of surprises, drama, angst and heat. I really enjoyed this book, the writing is brilliantly executed and draws you in from page one. The characters are very relatable and the world building on point. The storyline packs a punch and had my emotions swinging. If you love shifter romances then I totally recommend this book and series.

They both were taken for a night out for different reasons, but with fate, their mate bonds were met. Macy had an engagement forced on her by her Dad to the next Alpha. Brandon was leaving for war the next morning and contracted for 5 years. After those five years, they finally meet unexpectedly and with surprises left and right. The pack they live in is amazing! I didn’t know there were two other books, but I’m definitely going to go read them after this awesome book!

This is such an amazing paranormal romance with a military twist. This book absolutely sucked me right in from the very first page. Brandon and Macy have an incredible instant connection that can’t be denied but unfortunately they only have one blissful night together before Brandon has to leave for the military. Five years of separation has been hell for both of them. Once his military obligations are up Brandon is determined to find his mate. He’s in for a huge surprise and they face so many obstacles if they want to make it work between them. There are so many twists and turns in this story I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. If you haven’t read the previous two books in this series, I highly recommend that you do because it will give you more insight into the characters.

Mason and Riley are just perfect for each other. I really enjoyed reading the second book in this series. It tells the story of the pack alpha Mason meeting his fated mate Riley. Mason is such an amazing dad to his son Archer and she fits in just perfectly and takes to Archer right away. Neither of them are remotely interested in being in a relationship but that all changes once they meet and fall for each other. This book really pulled me in from the very first page and I just couldn’t set it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. There’s so much action, romance, sweetness and swoon worthy romance in this book. It’s a definite must read if you love paranormal and fated mates romances.

A book that did not disappoint. It Just Comes Natural hits on every expectation going in. As I continue to read this series, I am beginning to enjoy this author more and more. This book, though part of a series, could very well be read as a stand-alone story. Though all 3 books in this series have overlapping points, each one focuses on different characters. So it takes nothing away.
Macy and Brandon met on a one off right before he shipped out for 5 years to serve his country. living with the separation from his mate for the last 5 years and not knowing where she is has been awful for Brandon. Little does he know she’s closer than he thinks and there’s a big surprise as well.
When Macy realized Brandon was her mate that she ran from, he was gone. Left alone with the pain but also a surprise, Miranda. A firecracker of a child that put Brandon Quarter’s antics to shame. Never realizing that’s her Brandon.
You will learn to really love these characters and really want more as you read this series. So do it already!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well I gave this author another chance and I actually really liked this one. I would actually rate it 4.5 if I could! Call of the Alpha is a story that one can relate too, well minus the werewolf part… lol
Mason and Rylie are two characters, who are wonderfully written. I enjoyed how the growth of each one of them was presented, especially Mason. Then introduce Mason’s son Archer and it brings a whole different dynamic to the relationship between the 3 characters. Archer was definitely 5 going on 25 it seemed based on how he was written. He was such a grown little dude, so mature especially when being raised his whole life by a single father. You will love these characters and you will want to know what Mason is going to do as well!
I did enjoy how it overlapped with book 1 in this series. Everything going on at the same time was definitely different. I also liked how it set up book 3. I would assume that also will have that overlapping feel to it. I might just have to check it out.

A Second Chance(Powder River Pack Book 1) by Brooke May – Review by Beverly Finnie

A Second Chance (The Powder River Pack #1)A Second Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So, these types of books are usually my thing, but A Second Chance didn’t quite fit the bill. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t hate it. It was alright, just not a favorite. It started off slow, with lots of hard headed-ness from the main two characters.
Derek, watched his mate leave when he was 16, not only did he lose his wolf but he lost himself. Annabelle always pined for Derek if she’s willing to admit it or not. These two are so stubborn it’s frustrating at times.
The one thing I did love was Spence, Annabelle’s best friend and right hand when it comes to work. His flamboyance definitely lifted up a rather dull story for me. He helped lighten up the two main characters which helped me start to come around as I continued the story.
The author gives me slight intrigue, because of the well written supporting character. I intend to look into other written works to see how they are.

Brandon and Macy are each out for a night of fun when they meet and sparks fly. Although they may be fated mates, they each have their own lives that make things complicated. Brandon is leaving for military duty and Macy has her own responsibilities. However, they do share one incredible night together.

Fast forward and Brandon has returned home since his military obligations are up…but he is determined to find the one that got away. However, when he finds Macy again, he is in for quite a surprise. Although they both feel the pull to be together, there are obstacles that they must overcome and issues they must work through first…and the author does not make it easy on them.

This was an enjoyable book. I enjoyed the strength that Macy showed as the story took its twists and turns. Brandon is a funny jokester but his sense of duty and responsibility shines through. Another good book in this series. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Book 3 starts with a bang as Brandon meets Mary, er, Macy, in a crowded bar in Billings, Montana. They are instantly drawn to each other, and spend an unforgettable night together, after which Brandon is shipped out on a 5-year tour in the military, and Macy is turned out of her home and starts a new one Fetterman with Mason’s pack. In a comedy of errors, Macy spends several years working in Mason’s bar without ever realizing that her mate belongs to the pack of her new family. Brandon returning home is a shocking revelation for them both – and Miranda too.
This latest book follows a similar arc as the others in this series. I found this duo to be a little harder to connect with than those in Book 2 for example, there seemed to be something a bit lacking in the depiction of their romance comparatively. A good novel though, and if you liked the others in this series, Book 3 will likely deliver for you as well.

Great shifter romance between tomboy biologist Rylie and alpha/single father Mason. Similarly to Book 1, this shifter is waiting for his mate to come into his life, and when she does, the connection packs a punch. I found their story easy to fall into, and I resonated with their story even more than the one in Book 1. Mason is steadfast and loyal, a great dad to 5-year-old son Archer, and seeks the woman who will be not only his wife but the mother little Archer has never had. Enter beautiful, intelligent, no-nonsense Rylie, who is gobsmacked by the intensity of the connection between them. Their chemistry sizzles, but a bit slower, and there is a depth and intensity in it that I appreciated. I was eager to turn the pages fast and finished this one quickly.

Annabelle has been living life all over the world since being separated from the love of her life at just 16 years old. Finding home and friendship in her travel buddy Spence, she flits across the globe as an animal photographer. After she is forced home suddenly, she comes face to face with the man who got away – Derek Sumerland. Both Anna and Derek believed that they had been spurned by the other, in the face of Anna’s sudden move as a teenager, and seeing each other again is a powerful experience. Is this really true love, as Derek insisted all those years ago?
This is a good paranormal love story with an interesting romance between Anna and Derek. I enjoyed the writing style, and could empathize with the characters. A good read.

This author is just simply out of this world, the word building is amazing, their character development is perfect, and the plot was so amazing that it left me craving more. While this is the third installment in this paranormal series, it is not essential to read the previous two, but I would highly recommend reading the whole series as they are all just simply amazing. In this installment we follow Macy and Brandon and trust me when I say that it is a crazy roller coaster ride that will hold your attention until the end.

Brandon Quarters, werewolf and funny guy. Decides it’s time to get serious in his own life. After a wild night and possibly finding his mate. He entered the military. Macy Cutler, always trying to be well rounded finds her path changing after one night of passion. Deciding to follow the path she is on, she comes to realize she is stronger than she thought. These two people know they are missing something, but can they discover what is missing? How will these two people find their true mate? Only reading this story will answer that question. My recommendation is that you read this series in order. Get to know the characters and fall in love with them all. This author never disappoints. Her story is well written and fast paced. You may even find yourself engaged and unable to put this book down. No Spoilers will be found here.

This is such a great fated mates paranormal romance. Lily is a servant working for the royal shifter family. She is horribly mistreated by one of the royal guard, but she feels herself drawn to Jason just as much as he is to her. They face so many obstacles along the way, not the least of which is the difference in status. Jason is the complete opposite of his father. Even though he is the future alpha of the pack, status has never been a big deal for him. He is quick to help the servants unload his family bags and he never treats them like they’re less than him. Jason and Lily fall hard for each other and even though she feels like she isn’t good enough for him she can’t help craving him. This is a must read that you are not going to want to miss. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

AH! This book had me totally immersed in its world. I will admit, I have a weakness for wolf shiters, so maybe that is why I enjoyed this read so much. I loved the way the author showed the playfull side of the wolves along with the side that seeks dominance. If I am being totally honest with myself, I would shift into a wolve, and proceed to chase my tail for at least 10 minutes, haha! I loved Prince Jason, and I actually loved Lily! Experiencing the way her confidence shifts was great. Jason is a cinnamon roll and I am excited to see how he develops in the next books. The book was filled with excitement and action. I wish the main conflict would have been resolved just a little quicker so that I could experience more of what happens next, but I suppose that is what the next books are for! So excited to continue this series. Will be keeping my eyes open for when the next books come out!

It Just Comes Natural is the most heart-ache-inducing book so far in this series. This is a very “realistic” take of what I feel would happen with true mates under the right circumstances. Finding your soulmate only to have them ripped away by circumstance is such a mature take on this genre! But don’t you worry, this fantastic author makes it well worth the ride!

Claiming My Mate: A Forbidden-lovers romance is the first book in the Wolf Hollow Pack series. I enjoyed this book and the characters. Prince Jason is a significant romantic lead. Lily is a human servant of the pack. I wanted the best for the new couple, and I like the story and how it dealt with sensitive subjects. There is rape, so be warned if that might be a trigger. It is handled well by the author. I like the forbidden romance element of the story and am interested to see if some of the secondary characters will play a larger role in future books in the series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Jason and Lily pulled me right into their world. There’s a bit of hard subject matters but I liked how it was all handled. And you just as easily connect with side characters also which was great! For starters, Lily is overall a complete badass of a woman when she wants to be. She’s a human slave at this pack’s castle serving for the royal family. She gets bullied a lot and nothing is done about it. Well, when a worse bully comes in and does something that should not be done, she ends up getting the attention of Prince Jason of the Wolf Hollow pack. Prince Jason just got back to the castle with his family and detected a scent that smelled amazing to him. After a couple scenes, he ends up finding Lily. It takes a lot of paths and challenges, but the read is worth finding out! I’m ready to read the second book! 🙂

An enjoyable and exciting paranormal romance, featuring wolf shifters and fated mates, which had me hooked from start to finish. This is the third book featuring the werewolves of the ‘Powder River Pack’, but it can be read as a standalone story. Werewolf Brandon Quarters is seen as the jokester of the pack but has decided to join the military. However, in a night out before he’s deployed he meets a women in a bar, who happens to be his mate. As soon as Brandon returns home he’s determined to find the women and make her his, but there’s a surprise waiting for him at the pack bar. Macy Cutler has always had a lot of expectations on her shoulders, desperate to be a good daughter and not follow in her sister’s reckless footsteps. This all changes following one night of passion with a man she met in a bar. Years later and Macy has overcome lives many obstacles to make a life of her own, but she’s never forgotten her one night stand. The characters and setting are brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the storyline . I found both Brandon and Macy to be likeable characters and their instant chemistry really came across in the story. I look forward to future books in this series.

This is the 3rd book in a great paranormal romance series that I’ve really come to love. I don’t read a lot of paranormal romance but this book/series is leading me to want to read more of it. I have read quite a few of this author’s books now and have enjoyed all of them. I really enjoy her writing style.
In this book, the story flows really well and there is always something happening to keep you gripped to the story and wanting to read more.
We had met Macy and got to know her a bit in the second book, whereas Brandon only played a small part as he was away serving his country. In this book we get their story and it’s a great one. Having met their daughter Miranda in book 2 I thought I wouldn’t like her. Although she’s quite naughty, she’s actually a very loving little girl and she wormed her way into my heart.
I really hope there is much more to come from this series as I really need to know what’s going on with Miles and Alexa: and Roper surely has a story that needs telling.

This was entertaining tale of Royal shifters and the servants that serve them. Jason falls for his human servant. There is plenty of adventure, romance, a bit of violence and a little darkness. There were some twists I did not see coming. There were some characters that lacked something I can’t put my finger on. I did feel the characters were written well. I do wish the story could have been a bit longer so I could have had more. I am such a book hog that way. The plot was enjoyable. The King, though, he was intimidating. Overall, I loved the book and hope there will be more.

This story was phenomenal! From the first page, I could not put it down and when I finished, it left me wanting more! Lily is a servant of the Wolf Hallow royal family. Though she didn’t choose to be in her position, she wants nothing more than to stay out of the spotlight. Some unwanted attention brought her into the spotlight she didn’t want.

Jason is the future king and is just waiting for his chance to claim the spot as Alpha, until he meets his mate. The trouble is, she doesn’t know, nor is it a welcome title to anyone involved. Jason soon realizes he will have to fight for what he wants.

Jason and Lily’s story has a little of everything; action, adventure, romance, humor, and even some unexpected turns. I loved that I felt like I was in the story with them. I felt their emotions resonate within me as I turned page after page. It is a true story of fighting for the ones you love! Plus, who doesn’t love a little paranormal romance, especially when wolves are involved?! I can not wait to read more Wolf Hollow stories in the future!

Rylie was beautiful and strong with a good soul. Mason was a single dad and the Alpha of Powder River Pack. He was doing the best with what he was given, and leading his pack with high hopes of finding his eternal mate. Together their story was passion pain, and acceptance with a beautiful HEA. This was a great werewolf story and I am eager for what’s next.

This book is a well written short story by an author who is new to me. I was impressed with how well the author described the scenes, things the characters were thinking and feeling, and how well the main characters interacted as things changed. I was able to connect to the main characters of Lily and Jason as they helped each other navigate changes. I love how Lily grew stronger as she learns more about the shifter world as a human who was turned. She compliments Jason, the future pack Alpha, in many ways with her strength and caring personality. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
