I’m torn. I love wolf shifters books. This one though I’m not sure how I feel. I don’t care for the abuse and rape aspect of it. I did enjoy the new found wolf experience.
I understand that a lot of times these books are always a mismatch when it comes to mates but Claiming My Mate pushes a lot of boundaries that could be triggers for some.
Lily, a kidnapped human, forced into becoming a servant for the royal family. Though she’s a servant she’s very defiant with a very strong personality.
Jason, the essential crowned prince of the pack, next in line for alpha. Little does he know his mate will be found under his own roof.
I do like how the author wrote Jason is very kind, sympathetic, strong everything you want in a future leader. His development throughout was a shining light on a book I was struggling with at times.
If you like servant/master romances check it out, you should enjoy it. If you’re like me and enjoy shifter romances, go into this book with an open mind before making a decision.

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack Book 1) by Nicole Howl. This is my first read by this author and its the first book in the Wolf Hollow Pack series. This isn’t my favorite genre but I truly enjoyed this book. Its a young adult, paranormal book with werewolves, shifters, and romance all in the middle of young adult problems. Its a quick read and once you start you won’t want to put it down. Its the story of Lily who serves the royal wolf pack family as a “slave”. Jason is a Prince and when he picks up Lily’s scent when she has cleaned his room he wants to find her. There is also a member of the Royal Guard who is interested in her and will have her one way or another. Jason is kind, helpful and everything you want a Prince to be but Lily is stuck between a rock and hard place as a slave because she really has no say. Lily would love to be with Jason but feels her place in life will never allow it. There are some hard scenes to read so be prepared!

Claiming My Mate was a great short read. I haven’t read a shifter book in quite a while and this one reminded me how much I enjoy them. I can’t wait to read the second book… especially because of that ending! I really loved Lily, she is such a strong fighter. Also… Jason… *swoon* need I say more? I highly recommended if you’re looking for a good shifter romance.

This story was fantastic! I’m always down for a werewolf romance. This story has action and romance. Lily has been held hostage for the past year by the soon to be Alfa’s family. Jason the soon to be Alfa comes home ready to take over and change thing his father has done until he sees Lily. There are so many things and obstacles that keep coming at them two. It keeps on turning the page to find out what happens next. I cannot wait for book two!

This is the first book in the Wolf Hollow Pack series. I was so engaged in this story that it was over before I knew it. Jason will be the alpha after his father. He knows that is his place. Lily has been held captive by the royal family for the last year. All she wants is to do what she must to get by. That is until she meets Jason. Then her world is turned upside down. I can’t wait to dive more into this series.

Jason is the sun of the alpha king of the Wolf Hollow Pack.
Lily is a captured human slave that works in the castle.
“She’s more. Go after her.” Jason’s wolf urges as soon as they come into contact.

This book was exhilerating to read and was way too short for me because I just want to know what happens next!! The turning of the page happened without my notice I was so engrossed in the events that Lily had stumbled into; and before I knew it, I was at 100% read and could no longer continue. This book does contain some triggers of sexual and physical abuse, but it is not overly descriptive nor does it take away from the story.
I really enjoyed the characters of Jason, Lily and their close friends. I’ve read so many shifter novels over the years and the different takes on packs and shifter etiquette fill my mind with so much imagination.  I was not let down with this book as it had everything I was looking for with quite a bit of originality.

Decent character driven story with our main heroine being a human slave in the household of Wolf shifters. Namely the royal family. The King is a royal Jerk, the queen seems sweet but downtrodden, and the sexy Wolf Prince Jason. The story feels a bit Shakespearian with a fairytale twist. We have rebels/rebellion over the monarchy being iron fisted and a slave girl who catches the eye of our handsome prince. There’s the “evil” guardsman who you want to see on a pike before the story is through, and a twist that just makes you want to cry.
While the world and scenery could use more fleshing out in my opinion. The characters are decent. A good book for older YA audiences. Be cautioned as there are some hard themes and possible trigger warning scenes in here. I like how the characters deal with the events and come out the other side. Not to graphic in the scenes, but still there.

I do want to start this with a warning. Sexual assault is a major driving force in the storyline. It is brought up multiple times, sometimes in vague detail. However, the tale was an engaging one. I’m a huge fan of shifter stories and this is no different. High stakes abound in this modern story with a medieval skew.

Claiming My Mate was in my opinion really intriguing. I literally started and finished on the same day. I couldn’t put it down. Lilly was a good lead female, strong, loyal and never lets people keep her down, and this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see her blossom as the story goes on. As for Jason man! I really think now that he’s found her he’s going to be unstoppable. I love the way he protects her and makes her feel safe after everything that has happen, and don’t get me started on his father😡 his downfall will be ever sweet  😗🤌(Chef kiss) I can’t wait for the the next book I’m counting the days til it’s released. I’m so happy I stumbled upon this. Great job Nicole Howl 👏

Ps. Trigger warning it does touch on sexual assault.

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl

Claiming My Mate is a romantic fantasy about a girl named Lily, who serves the royal wolf pack family as a “slave”. Lily tries to keep her head down and do the job, since many find the wolves to be mean and intimidating. Unfortunately, one of those wolves in the royal guard has taken an “interest” in her and because of his position feels that he can take whatever he wants from her. (Trigger warning – sexual assault) In the midst of all her troubles, the prince, Jason, finds himself attracted to her scent after she was cleaning his room. His wolf senses were screaming at him that this girl was special and needed to be “claimed”. Lily finds herself between a rock and a hard place – on one hand the prince is claiming her as his soulmate, while the royal guard just wants to claim her. What will she do and how far will each of these men go to claim what they believe is theirs?
I for the most part enjoyed this book. I thought the story line idea was a little different from other wolf fantasy books which interested me. I also always enjoy a good read where a wolf wants to love their soulmates so hard you can’t help but fall in love with them. Well, I was slightly disappointed. The main aspect of what could have been better was the character development. Here you have a good premise, but no build up. For example, Lily, you could see there was a little fire in her, but she was in no position of power. However, once she makes her choice (which comes pretty quickly) all of a sudden she is turning into a woman who has balls of steel and confidence. I thought it was just weird that the character development just went from one extreme to another. In addition, Jason, who is prince and supposedly powerful, wasn’t displayed that way in the writing. In each fight scene he gets extremely hurt and just seems to me if you are that powerful you should be a little more resilient when being described in these scenes. This is not to say I will not read the next book, I still got the feeling that the books will get better so I am invested in at least one more installment.

A shorter read (few hours). Seemed contemporary but I don’t remember any technology so I could be wrong about that. Paranormal alternate reality where there are shifters, here wolves, who create their own packs. The Alpha of the pack head up the royalty line, and they keep lower level shifters (Omegas) and humans as servants. Lily is a human servant who has had a rough time at the hands of Royal Guards and just making it through in a life where she’s the bottom of the Totem-pole. Jason is the Prince of the pack and is expected to be the next Alpha, but he’s harboring secrets that threaten his status and security.

I really enjoyed learning more about Jason’s character and who he is outside of being the Prince and next Alpha. I thought him and Lily worked well together as a couple and I can’t wait to see them grow together. There’s not much on screen romance here, with book 1 acting like the introduction to the world and characters .

I loved the strength we see from Lily at times, but I wish we got to see her backbone in other moments. I hope she starts to trust in herself more and stops sacrificing herself for others, no matter her good intentions. I loved her relationship with her friend and fellow slave Amara.

Warning, book 1 ends on a cliffy (cliffhanger).

CW: off screen sexual assault, sexual intimidation, slave scenario, domestic violence, abuse against women

Nicole Howl’s “Claiming My Mate” is the first in her Wolf Hollow Wolf Pack series. Shifter romances are usually not the first books I turn to, but the cover art grabbed my attention immediately and pulled me in. This is geared more towards a YA romance with shifters, werewolves, fated mates, humans, and plenty of action. I would like to add a trigger warning though, it does deal with some more mature and dark themes such as rape and abuse.
The male MC, Jason is the prince of the Wolf Hollow Royals and set to take over from his horrible father as the Alpha King. Lily, the female MC is a young human servant in the royal kingdom who doesn’t feel like she belongs. Tragic events bring the Jason and Lily together and no matter how hard they try they cannot escape their fate. Along the way they face many battles by both family and enemies.
Once I picked this book up, I couldn’t put it down! Nicole jumped right in with the action, and it was a very fast paced book from beginning to end. The book was shorter than I prefer but completely worth it. I can not wait for the second one to come out to learn the fate of Jason and Lily.

Ahhhh!!! Y’all! To start: the cover is eye catching and absolutely BEAUTIFUL. If a book has a good cover I can’t resist reading! I’m also a serious sucker for any kind of shifter romance. I really enjoy getting to read from Jason and Lily’s point of views. It makes the story so immersive and it really kept me from putting the book down. Jason’s character was drool-worthy and Lily is just so sweet and compassionate. This story was so twisted, disturbing, and beautiful. I really enjoyed it and I’m EAGER for the next in the series!!

This is book one in the Wolf Hollow Pack series. This is first book I have read by Ms. Nichole Howl and it was well worth the read. She has a way of bringing the characters to life between the pages and making you feel connected to them. Lily and Jason have a connection like no other as well as some steamy scenes that leave you wanting more. I was through with the book before I even realized the ending was upon me. I will be patiently awaiting book two.
There are some scenes described that may trigger readers sensitive to physical & sexual abuse, discretion is advised.

This is a new author to me so I was excited to see what the story wojkd hold. It is quite a short book so didn’t take too long to read. It was fast paced and enjoyable. The bolm was well written and I really liked how the author developed the characters. I thought this was a good start to a new series and I am looking forward to Book 2.

Claiming My Mate was definitely my kind of book. I loved how Lily’s character developed in this story. My only complaint is major things happen so quickly that I was left feeling a bit dizzy. I think had the author spent just a little more time explaining what was going on and just slowed it down a tad, it would have been better. It seemed like I was missing part of the story by starting with book 2. I’m absolutely going to look for a book two however, because I’m looking forward to reading more from Nicole Howl.

5 Star Review
Claiming My Mate is the first book in this two-book series, Wolf Hollow Pack Series, by Nicole Howl. From the first page I was hooked and could not put this book down. Nicole Howl brings the wolves alive in a completely different way than I have ever read.
Jason is next in line to become Alpha and King of Wolf Hollow. Lily is a human slave to Jason’s family, the Wolf Hollow Royals, and just wants to go about the rest of her life unseen and complete her daily duties. But Goddess Leto has a different plan in mind.
Lily is caring and sweet and just wants a normal life. She feels bad for the humans, like her, who are being held captive to slave and serve the Wolf Hollow Royals.
Jason is strong, levelheaded compared to his father, King Huntington, and kind like Lily.
One day Jason’s wolf catches a scent that he is in love with and is trying to figure out where it came from, when he finally figures outs its Lily, a human, who also happens to be his mate, he must protect her from one of his fathers Royal Guard members who is trying to claim her as his mate.
Lily on the other hand just wants to be hidden in the shadows and doesn’t want anyone to know she even exist, that is, until her wolf peeks out and also want to claim her mate, Jason.
Will Jason and Lily survive what is to come and be able to live a happy life together, or will it be destroyed by King Huntington? I cannot wait to find out in book two!

Forbidden lovers, a girl who has no idea who or what she is and a Prince with many secrets.

Jump into this forbidden lovers tale which is a quick and intense read making you desperate to want to know more as its left on so many cliffs you arent even sure which one you need to know the answer to first!

My only complaint is I feel like I needed a little more development of characters… due to its short read the story felt rushed but I will certainly be interested to see if Author fills us in more in Book 2 because now I have to see how this plays out.

fair warning this is not a typical forbidden lovers romance there is some dark themes here that are not for the faint of heart!

The first book in the Guardian of the Spirits series: the war, Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl. We first meet Lily, a human and servant to the Wolf Hollow Royals. The Wolf Hollow Royals are well known shifters. The first lesson we learn is do not make eye contact, this is a challenge to the shifters and could end badly. The second perspective is Jason, a shifter, prince of the Wolf Hollow Royals and the next in line for the throne. Lily is Jason’s true mate and all of this wolf instincts are to loved, defend and protect his mate. But will Lily accept his invitation to become his mate and how will she truly fit in with the Royals as a human and servant.
This book is a brilliant introduction to this new paranormal world. We meet characters from both sides of the house, from servants Miss Kitty and Amara, to the Royals the King and Queen and Jason’s little sister Laura. I am so interested to see if we learn more about these characters as the book series continues. The story is action packed, full of twists and turns and romantic from page one.
The ending did leave us on a cliff hanger an I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series takes us.

Lily has lived her life under the cruel rule of the wolf pack and its King. Her life changes the moment the wolves take notice of her. Their cruelty brings everything to the forefront and soon her life is thrown into chaos when she crosses paths with the prince of the pack.

Claiming my mate is just the beginning of Lily’s tale. Wrapped up alongside Lily’s adventure are the threads of many other sub plots. Readers not only get a romance but also the threat against the hierarchy and the court intrigue. I enjoyed watching the way Lily begins to blossom and find her place with her mate’s support. While each of the characters have strong personalities, I did not find myself connecting with them enough to get lost in their story. The plot is good, but I found the characters to be one dimensional and did not feel the emotions through out this story. Although this may not be my favorite book the author has woven an interesting tale in this first book of the series, and I am interested enough to see what happens to the characters.

A Fast paced four-star read that leaves me wanting more. I don’t know how to rate this one as at times it pushed ever one of my buttons, but by the end I did want to know what’s next. I liked the meeting; it was so much better than I expected after where the story went initially. Lily and her journey start off rocky, but the hope is there that it gets better, Jason was a character that had so much thought into it, sometimes a little too much as the expense of others, but overall, a good character that made me smile. It’s a nice story that will sweep you away.

Claiming My Mate is a very accessible, engrossing, and interesting novel. Lily, a slave, has been treated poorly her whole life, and suffers even more abuse near the beginning of this novel. When Prince Huntingdon meets her in the infirmary, his wolf is drawn to her immediately. As the future king and alpha of his pack, he is expected to marry for economic and political reasons, not love. But he knows in his heart that this young woman is his soulmate. Although Lily has been trained to be meek and subservient, she surprises the Prince (and everyone else) when she stands up for herself at parts in the novel. She becomes more herself as the novel winds on, and grows into the person she was meant to be.

I really liked this book. The characters were interesting and dynamic, and the plot moved forward with good pacing and turns. The novel does resolve itself at the end (no cliffhanger) but I could definitely see how the story could be furthered in future books, as I hope it does. Great read.

Lily has grown up as a servant in the castle of the Alpha of the Wolf Hollow Pack. Her days are spent keeping her head down, avoiding eye contact with any member of the royal family, and doing her chores. After an attack on her from one of the king’s guards, her life takes a turn that she never saw coming.

After an attack from rebels lands him in a hospital bed, Jason (the prince) is shocked when his wolf wants him to protect whoever else is in the infirmary with him. When he learns that it is one of the humans that works in the castle, he is confused. But, there is more to this human girl than it seems…it’s his mate.

Jason finds himself fighting to the death for a chance to claim his mate…despite his mate’s protests. But, there seems to be a lot more at play here than we know. Can Jason win the battle? Is there a bigger battle brewing?

This book was a relatively quick and easy read. Lily is definitely a lot stronger than she lets herself believe…and I am hoping more of that shines through in the next book. There are also enough secondary characters that could potentially have their own storylines in future books. Overall, a good introduction to a new series that I am looking forward to following in the future.

Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl Book 1

This Werewolf Fiction Romance starts with a young women named Lily who has known nothing but slavery, she is naturally timid, quiet, selfless and loyal. Lily serves the Wolf Hollow Pack and is treated horribly by the guards, pack and King but through it all she finds her mate.

First few chapters is just building her character, getting to know her personality and laying down the foundation of the storyline, little did I know there would be so many twists and turns.

Lily finds herself in a bad situation with one of the guards that leaves her, broken, scarred and violated. Luckily a member of the pack finds her in her panic and brings her to the royal hospital where she awaits questioning from the not so understanding King and merciful Queen.

From there fate intertwines and her mate is revealed…. Or so we think.

This book is romantic, dark and actually quite witty, I love how much Lily’s character grew in such a short time.
I did not expect the ending at all! quite a cliffhanger, I can not wait for book two come out and read more about these two main characters and how they grow together as mates.

The 3rd book in this fantastic series certainly doesn’t disappoint in any way! It brings us the Story of Macy ( who has been mentioned a little in the first two books) and Brandon who returns home after a lengthy deployment. I love these characters and i know you will too.
Macy and Brandon first meet the night before he is to deploy, they share an unforgettable night together which leaves them both with more than they ever expected! Fast forward five years and Brandon is home and about to find out he not only has a mate he feels drawn to find but a firecracker of a daughter he created on that amazing night together. Macy and Brandon still feel that connection but has too much time past and too many things changed for them to truly make it all work?
While this 3rd book in this amazing series, could be read as a stand alone if you wish, personally I would start from the beginning purely because it is a fantastic series and you will want to get to know everyone properly! I really hope there is more coming our way soon!
