I love reading books about different kinds of human beings like shifters and vampires. This book looks at werewolves or lycanthropy from a viewpoint that it’s a medical disorder. The disorder was rare but has become more prevalent towards the end of the twentieth century. The concept of this story is very intriguing, the characters are generally believable and the plot twists kept my attention.

The Wolf’s Shadow is the first book in The Lycanthropy Files by Cecilia Dominic. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Dominic, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories- but let’s be honest here, she already had me at werewolves…. This is a intriguing paranormal romance with a bit of a medical/scientific suspense happening along the way. There’s lots going on, but in a great, keep you avidly reading kind of way. With action, mystery, adventure, danger, high stakes, deception, secrets, dramatic developments, and more- this book definitely held my attention right till the very last page. I really loved her original take on werewolf lore and am excited to have found another author to add to my must read list- especially one who has quite a lot of other books for me to one-click to explore. I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #2!!! Happy Reading!

This is quite the integrated story! I was intrigued by the storyline and the characters. This kept me on my toes as I along with the characters try to figure out the who, why and when of this one. There is a lot of background medicalish information that I did not so much care for. It is the research side..it is good for the story but I just skimmed some of it. I was surprised on more than one occasion with the actions of the characters.
There are a ton of characters in here. That is what helps make the story so diverse. We follow along with Joanie as she meets and greets them all.
Overall this is a good story that easily held my interest. This is a new author for me and I am glad I gave her a chance. It helps that I am a lover of shifter stories.

I just want to start by saying that I’m a “series” girl. I always have been, that’s just my jam. Stand alones just don’t do it for me. What can I say? I’m greedy. Haha! I’ve been trying to find my next series to obsess over and I’ve finally found it after a few false starts. I want to continue the journey alongside Dr. Joanie and her pack. Without spoiling anything, it has a lot of mystery, murder, and of course romance. I definitely didn’t understand what I was diving into when I decided to read The Wolf’s Shadow. It’s bizarre but good. I’m used to werewolf romances and mysteries. Definitely a mystery, however I think this is the first time I read a book that shines werewolves in this light. The author brings a whole new aspect to the idea and one can’t help but get sucked in. Joanie, inheriting her grandfather’s 500 million estate, and ends up starting life over. Almost dying in her lab’s fire and losing her job, why not start a new life elsewhere. With her best friend Lonna in tow they set off to Crystal Pines. Little did they know they were about to get thrown into the world of child kidnappings and the supernatural. The author takes us on an up and down ride of their investigation. Joanie to find out what happened to her grandfather, and Lonna the missing children. Things are starting to look like the two are connected. To find out more you’re just going to have to jump in and check it out for yourself!

I really like finding books by new to me authors. Cecilia Dominic is one of those authors. This story has a great story line and is easy to follow even with the questions that arise while Joanie Fisher tries to figure out what happened to her grandfather, her lab and the strange feelings she has about the things happening around her. The characters in this story are very easy to like, of course except those bad guys, once we discover who they really are. The universe of werewolves isn’t a new one, but this story takes a different look at it. Since this story was so good, I will definitely read more from this author. Long Shadows is book 2 and I am ready to start reading it and see what happens to Lonna

This was a good 5 star read. Right from the start Joanie feels like nothing can go right for her.Until she gets a letter requesting she come see a lawyer, she isn’t sure what to expect. There she finds out that she has inherited her grandfather’s estate worth millions. She meets her friend later and tells her what has happened. Her friend has gotten a new job to investigate some mysterious disappearances and it happens to be in the same area as her grandfather’s estate. Once they arrive they start to put some pieces together and things get even more mysterious from here.
Will they be able to figure out where these kids are going? What does it have to do with a full moon? What really happened to her grandfather?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. I liked Joanie and her friend. The secondary characters also added a great element to the story. It has been awhile since I have read this genre and I was pulled right back in with this author’s writing. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

This is the first book that I’ve read from Mrs. Cecilia Dominic, and I was not disappointed. This is book one in the Lycanthropy Files Series. This is an amazing book. I was so invested in the book from page 1, and I only stopped reading long enough for me to sleep and work. It did not take me long to finish such book. I highly recommend this book to everyone. The author has a way with her words that you feel effected by everything going on, you are able to feel every emotion and visualize the world they are in. I’m excited to read more from the author in the near future.

This was such an interesting and fun book! I loved the unique take on werewolves and the romance was amazing. This was a great way to start a series and definitely made me want to read the others in the series. I think fans of Nalini Singh would really like this book, as well as the other things Cecilia Dominic writes. 10/10 recommend!
I absolutely love this take on lycans. This book is the first in The Lycanthropy Files series and I can’t wait to dig into the next book! I love the scientific take of this. Jane’s world is turned upside down by a fire at work and losing her job. Then her grandfather leaves her his estate and she goes there to find her footing again only to be entangled in mystery. This intriguing book was full of twists and turns and left me wanting more.

I’ll be honest I thought jeez this book is dragging but then I reached the end and I was like yep I needed the info and it made sooooo much sense. I really enjoyed this book and could NOT put it down! It was so well written and there were the perfect clue drops and twists and turns. I loved Joanie, wasn’t in love with Lonna but as I reached the end I knew she was a necessary character and couldn’t even deal with Ron, Robert, Leo, Gabriel mystery! I first want to say this book had me intrigued from the get-go. It was a new take on the werewolf that I found as interesting I went and started reading the others because I just had to know. Now that cover is amazing. I loved how it depicted Joanie because that is exactly how I had her pictured in my mind. I would have liked to know the main characters more in depth but overall, the writing was good. It kept my interest through out the whole book.
Joanie is a scientist; she is an epidemiologist to be exact. In case you are wondering an epidemiologist is the studies of medicine that deals with incidence, distribution, and control of diseases. She absolutely loves what she does till her entire world is turned upside and she does not know what to do next. And by her life I mean it went up in smoke starting with the fire in her lab, then her boyfriend dumbs her, see just a catalyst of sad news. It was like fate stepped in when she finds out her grandfather left her his whole estate, but the mystery starts with no one knowing how her grandfather died. With the help of her best friend Lonna, they start the adventure that would forever change their lives. As soon as she gets to Wolfsbane manor, (killer name, right??) she is thrown into the world that should not exist but needs her help non the less. With the help of her grandfather’s money, she can finish or start up her research again.
Lonna let us say for being a secondary character I just wanted to shake her a lot. I feel like she caused a lot of the problems that arose but then again when you have the good and the bad sides feuding your feelings and your actions get out of control. I do have to say even though this book was more of a mystery and less on the romance side which is not my usual type I loved what little romance was in this book. It led up the moment that would change the life of the main character and it is made for an amazing story. I will say I do hope there is a Tish more in the next book. All the twists and turns had me pleasantly surprised and wanted to finish the book. The new take on werewolves had me so enthralled that I wonder where the author goes the idea. Her word building was so perfect that when a twist happens you never expected it. Her character development I felt could use a bit more work. Even though you read tidbits about Joanie’s past you cannot help but wonder about the other characters. At least I did. Overall, she is a new author for me, but I can honestly, she has a new fan for life.View all my reviews

The Wolf’s Shadow: An Urban Fantasy Thriller is book 1 in the Lycanthropy Files by Cecilia Dominic. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was highly impressed. Her take on werewolf will have you believing it is completely possible. This book, filled with missing children, adultery, best friends, loss and grief not to mention romance and mystery takes you on a wild ride of twists and turns. I will definitely be finishing the rest of this series.

This novel was really good. It is a werewolf novel with a bit of twist on how werewolves were created, this made the novel interesting and different. The story involved mystery and intrigue and kept my attention from beginning to end. The author created a dynamic world and I look forward to reading more from her.

This is such a fascinating book! It puts a whole different spin on werewolves and how they come to be. This book has it all, romance, mystery and the paranormal. It pulled me in from the very first page and I just couldn’t put it down. Joanie is going through a really rough period of loss in her life and she inherits a massive property from her grandfather. However, it comes along with a lot of baggage that she wasn’t expecting. That’s when she realizes that werewolves exist and as she becomes involved she finds herself in danger while also being attracted to someone she never thought she would be. On her way to find a cure, she realizes what she really wants from life and who she wants it with but will she get the chance to make her dreams come true? This is one paranormal book you aren’t going to want to miss and I can’t wait to read the next books in this series.

I loved this book! The main character is a very relatable young woman who is strong, smart, and witty. She is made to grow up very quickly, but luckily she has her best friend at her side. As she figures out what is really going on in town, she has to deal with enemies in the shadows, and hopefully allies as well. Read this book if you like fantasy, a strong heroine, and a wolf pack that will make your heart beat fast.

Man oh man reading this book for the first time was definitely a roller-coaster ride. A good one though. First I gotta say that Cecilia Dominic’s take on werewolfism (I know it’s not a word but you know what I mean🤣) was unique and I liked it.I have yet to read one like this. Secondly the suspense nearly killed me. I constantly shifted on who the bad person was. I had to stop myself multiple time from skipping to the end to reveal what happens 😭.I’m not a big fan of the best friend but Imma read the next one (her story) hopefully she’s better in that one but truly this was a great read im glad I read it.🥰

This was the first book I have read by this author, but I am so glad that this is part of a series so that I can continue in the world that she created. The characters are multi-dimensional and kept me guessing, as well as the relationships and interactions between the characters. The world created was mysterious and intriguing, which made this book easy to read and hard to put down. I liked the combination of Sci-Fi, supernatural, and crime-solving thriller elements. I also really like it when the main character is a strong, educated female that is able to hold her own with a group of alpha males. I look forward to picking up the next book!

This captivating suspenseful shifter story was just absolutely amazing. The plot is original, the storyline is full of surprises, suspense, and so much more. The characters are amazing, but really all of the components combined together really brought this amazing story to life. This is the first time that I have read a story by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. The cover of this story is absolutely beautiful and the synopsis just pulls your attetntion to the book but it doesnt prepare you for the amazing story. Joanie is the strong female main character of this book. Through flashbacks you picked up that Joanie had a rough life growing up. She lost people who were very important to her. Those that were supposed to be there for her, were not, and would tend to make her life harder. The one thing that was always there for Joanie, was her job. She absolutely loved her job as an epidemiologist. She even was leading her own research, and the author did not skimp on any details in regards to this. Joanie’s knowledge on her research topic was very well explained to you. But one day her perfect job fell apart with a fire in her lab, losing everything. Yet another thing that would leave Joanie’s life. That disappointment did not stop there, soon after the fire, she lost her job, and her boyfriend, promises falling short.
A mystery appears, and you are sent on an adventure with Joanie and her friend to visit her recently inherited estate. There you learn more about Joanie’s life, and the mystery really begins, and so does the world of werewolves. Is there any correlation with her lab, the werewolves, and her grandfather? Does Joanie solve the mystery with the help of her friend, Lonna? With her recent broken heart, does someone sweep in and put it back together? Or does another heartbreak follow? Read this mystery/thriller to find out all the answers!
Wow, is the first word that comes to mind about this book written by Cecilia Dominic. With every page turned, Cecelia leaves you with a new twist or another clue to the ever-going mystery. Cecelia does not stop there as the author, she enthralls you into a whole different perspective of the werewolf world! This book was the new twist in the werewolf world I was looking for. At times the descriptions for each scene, thought, and conversation would get lengthy or maybe over explained. But, towards the end of the book that “over-description” weaved together and made complete sense, and ended up being important details that needed to be explained to bring the first book of the series to completion.
Although some of the details that I thought were “over-explained” some points did become a bit lengthy. I believe that is due to the fact that Cecilia had a lot of world building to do, since this is such a different twist to the werewolf world. The first couple of chapters seemed to really drag on and I had a hard time trying to get through those chapters. In some parts of the book the timing seemed to be very off. The way the author described scenes, the time seemed to only be a couple of hours, but you go to the next paragraph and it was a couple of days, or vice versa. Things also seemed to be missing parts in a scene, versus having a full description that would happen. Regardless of these flaws in this book, it was overall a great read. These flaws led me to want to rate this 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I cannot rate with half a star, so I gave the full 5 stars. I loved the different view and writing style of a werewolf book, and how much scientific knowledge she had and expressed throughout the book.
If you are looking for a twist to the werewolf world, a mystery, a thriller, with a pinch of romance, I would highly recommend this book. Or if you are looking for a way to pass time, or escape your daily life, I would still recommend this book!

Joanie Fisher is an epidemiologist who works for a research lab, that is until it burns down, destroying all her research and her job in the process, this also means the end of a an affair with her boss, who finished what they had on the same day as he terminates her employment, but on the same day a few weeks after nearly being killed by the fire, she receives a letter from a lawyer asking her to meet him at his office to go through her grandfathers will. When she gets there, she overhears a heated discussion in the office and finds that it concerns her grandfathers estate and therefore her, but when the client storms out, she cannot help but notice that he is a handsome, but dark storm blowing past her, this does not help with the distracting news that the estate she will be inheriting is worth multi-millions of dollars, but that there is also a condition attached to it, she has to move in immediately and that the lawyer will arrange the movement of all her belongings and that she doesn’t have to worry about a thing.
As she is trying to settle in to her new surroundings, she finds that she is the centre of attention and this is not somewhere she wants to be, however, she does use it to her advantage and tries to find out what is going on in and around the mansion and why people are acting suspiciously. Meanwhile, another mystery appears and Joanie tries to see how this fits into everything, however, when it turns out that one of the secrets her grandfather has is that the community is full of werewolves and not just that, but these shifters are somehow now depending on her and her research to help cure them. The mysteries deepen and danger surrounds Joanie and the shifters as things just seem to go wrong all around them, especially when a shadowy figure seems to keep following them around, as well as the sounds in the woods surrounding the manor escalating and keeping the locals scared, but as a deeper conspiracy is unearthed, Joanie becomes convinced that there is an ever bigger picture than they first suspected.
Will Joanie and the shifters she is trying to help be able to find the source of the information they need to crack the code behind the werewolves transformations, or will those trying to kill them get there first? This is a thrilling fantasy adventure with shifters, science and a heroine who is determined to win involving multiple twists and turns, until you become so lost in the plot that you will have to read to the end to figure out the who, what, where and why as you become more and more invested in the characters within.

Joanie soon finds out there is more to this manor than she ever expected. Lots of strange things start happening. And the people? Are they people? The clues left in the manor bring even more questions as she tries to figure out why she’s inherited this work of art.
I found this book to be entertaining. It kept my attention as I was trying to figure out the situation in my mind as I was reading. I loved the details given about the manor. I’d love to see something like that in person! There was a lot of romantic entanglement that I thought got in the way of parts of the story but wasn’t a complete distraction for me. I also didn’t realize that a certain element included in this story wasn’t inspired by a recent event, as this book was written a few years ago. That was probably my most favorite part of this book but in trying to keep from any spoilers, you’ll have to read the book to find out what I’m talking about.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This book had a great premise. With my love of all things medical and supernatural, it was a well blended story that kept my attention from beginning to end. Joanie, the main female lead in the story, is strong beyond words although she thinks of herself the opposite way. This book is a mystery from the beginning. I recommend not rushing through it as it is jammed with clues you can not miss. I was guessing until the very end. The suspense will keep you reading the mystery will keep you wondering who is lying and who can be trusted. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Wolves, inheritance and discoveries This was an unexpected surprise. The story was well written and had a good flow. It was a very different take on werewolves and a very interesting plot line. The characterisation was a bit hit and miss, at times I felt disconnected from some of the characters. Overall a fast-paced read filled with mystery, drama and twists.

I love werewolf stories and this one did not disappoint. It has a unique plot and wonderful characters. I was hooked from the beginning and was engaged the entire book. It was a great read by a new to me author. Can’t wait to dive in to more!

This is the first book in The Lycanthropy Files. I really enjoyed this book with its mixture of mystery and paranormal it was a really good read that kept me guessing. The author does a great job of mixing the genres of paranormal and mystery and scientific elements together to make the story unique and a good read.
Dr Joanna Fisher was working on a project to discover what was causing this new phenomenon called CLS. This thing is what was turning people into werewolves(apparently) and it was her job to figure out why. When a fire at her work destroys all her research and she loses her job was it an accident or is something more sinister happening? When she receives news of her grandfathers death she takes over his old property and her eyes get opened in ways she could never imagine. Why was her grandfather working on a cure for CLS? When two men approach her suffering with it she knows she needs to try and finish her grandfather’s work and find a cure. But with children going missing, her grandfathers mysterious death/disappearance and a strange black wolf that keeps showing up will she ever be able to get to the bottom of this? Or will someone try to stop her before she can find a cure?

This is the first book that I have read from this author. I liked her style of writing and enjoyed the story. This isn’t your typical werewolf book. The author put an interesting twist to lycanthropy which was refreshing. After reading a few too many romances, this was a pleasant change of pace. The book is more of a mystery/ thriller with some paranormal thrown in.
Joanie Fisher is a doctor researching the lycanthropy gene. After losing her job and her boss ending their affair, Joanie is definitely feeling the blues. As luck would have it, she becomes the sole heiress to her grandfather’s estate. After moving in, she comes face to face with real werewolves. Is it a connection that she loses her job after her grandfather disappears or is someone pulling some strings? Finding a cure for lycanthropy is her life’s work but puts her life in danger as well.
There is not much romance in this novel and what little there is, I’m assuming will lead to more in the next book. I was fine with that because it’s more of a mystery/ thriller. I found Joanie to be a little too resentful and I didn’t particularly like Lonna. They were supposed to be best friends but I found Lonna not really acting as a friend should. This is where I feel the author did her best writing. I liked the characters and at times I didn’t. I understand why they did things. I believe the author understands people very well. Even good people are not nice all of the time given the right motivation. All in all the book peaked my interest and I had fun trying to figure out “who done it”.
