Wild Hare’s Daughter is a story full of family, magic, and more. I like the incorporation of magic and realism to tell the story. The story and characters are interesting and left me wishing I had read the first book before this one. I would have liked more to the backstory, but now I have another book to read. I enjoyed the development of the characters and story. It is an interesting dystopian setting that adds to the storyline. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This book is wonderful on so many levels. You are grabbed from the beginning right into the story of Amy wanting to figure out who her dad is and finding she has magic powers. The story is so well-written. Amy is a teen trying to figure out her life, which isn’t easy because she is learning she isn’t what she thought she was. She will be on a journey to discover herself with the help of people in her town, her family and her BFF, Petey. You can’t help but relate to her teen angst. The author did a bang-up job of keeping things running smooth. The author also has slipped some climate thoughts and political thoughts in there. Reading about Bobby describe life at Bear Lake and loss of nature around it, you get a little lesson in climate change. I found it intriguing. It puts another perspective on loss of nature. We are losing some of our nature. The political items in there were spot on. I think it helped pull the story into today. Though I don’t agree with some of the messages, I did find they just fit in well with the story and the hunt for those with magic. This is a really good book. Great for young adults but adults just may enjoy it too.

This is an apocalyptic dystopian tale set in a small town with fairies and other magical creatures but not as we know them. They are a mixture of what one would consider “traditional” but that is the beauty of fiction, they can be whatever strikes the author. This author writes so that her words are easily imagined and brought to life. It is a story of those struggling for survival in a world where the militia rule. One young woman wants to know her other half, where she came from. Especially when she realises that magic is real and not just some rumour the militia spread.

Captivating. Imaginative. Angsty.

Those are the three words I would use to describe Amy’s journey to finding a relationship with her father. She flies through her town searching for answers and trying to solve adult problems all while trying to balance high school. She does all of it with a smile on her face.

I enjoyed reading this book. It kept my attention. I wanted to keep flipping to the next page. The second book to this duology was my favorite out of the two. I enjoyed the drama between Amy and her Evil Step Dad. It was entertaining to watch Bobby try to become a father. The relationship between Taylor and Bobby is always sweet to watch. I feel as though Sally was a bit too headstrong in this one but I enjoyed watching her grow as a character. Overall this book was like watching a comfortable sitcom on a Sunday night.

This is just a side-not to the author. A few of the names got switched around in the second book. Mrs. Allen’s name and Bryan’s name got switched around to Ryan. There were a couple of grammar and spelling problems that made it hard to read at times. This doesn’t take away from my review at all, I just wanted to let the author know!

I am not one who strays at all from reading this amazing author, I always find myself hooked so easily in any of their books they write, they know how to keep the reader interested, and really pull you into the world of the story. I loved the flow of this one, there was tons of surprises down this rabbit hole to say the least.

I think I can speak for just about any of us that to our family there is a lot of questions sand self wonder. In this one we follow the foot prints that lead our heroine to he truth of her family and what was, and perhaps even what is. I was astounded as I read through, and especially as things got exposed to say and come to the light. The tale was gripping and full of amazement at every turn. This was a book I could not stray from, and honestly very enjoyable. I would say one of my top ones by this wonderful author. Truly not an author or book to be passed up!

Again, I am a true fan of this author. I enjoy their books always as they are all different I a special way. This one by fa, really excelled and fascinated me in a new light. Seriously read this one! Highly recommend this book and author, defiantly!

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the author’s use of details to make the story realistic. It is a well written story that was not only hard to put down but also engaging. It is fast paced and full of action. This is a story about family, secrets and trust. It is a story that will pull at your heart strings in parts and leave you sitting on the edge of your seat the next. I enjoyed how the characters are relatable and brought the story to life for me. They are strong, determined and have a touch of magic as well. This is a story where searching for a dad becomes more than what this character was expecting. What happens next I highly recommend reading this book. It has great plot growth as well as character growth throughout the story. This is worth the pick up and you don’t want to miss it.

Wild Hare’s Daughter (Wild Hares) by Laura Koerber
Genre – magical realism, dystopia, family relationships
Page Count – 234 pages

My mother would never tell me who my dad was, but I found out anyway. In a town of only eight hundred people, most of them not in the right age range to be my dad, how hard was it going to be?
That was back before I started flying. I was obsessed with wondering who Daddy Dear was until random incidences of spontaneous levitation changed my perspective.
So…before I started flying, I thought the militia was just a bunch of assholes who were spreading rumors about magic to cover up their incompetence, but once I started flying, I saw things differently. Flying meant that magic was real, and therefore it was logical that magic was involved in the jail break and the congressman’s disappearance. And that meant I was not the only one who had magic. Someone else in my town had magic too.
This book is a dystopia/magical realism novel set in the near future. There’s some political satire, some swearing, some recreational drug use, some crime, but mostly it’s a story about trust, secrets, and love.
