The Magic Man is Book 3 in the Olympic Peninsula series and I continue to enjoy each book. I highly recommend listening to this series from the beginning as characters continue to develop in each book along with romance, drama and complex relationships, In this book we have David and Maddie’s story…
Joe returns from Africa being a physician for the past four years to attend Liam and Teresa‘s wedding….more quiet and secretive…something is going on….
Maddie is a friend of the family also attending the wedding of Liam and Teresa…and sparks happen between she and David…but it’s complex. David is appeasing his fiancée while Maddie is caught between feelings of David and Kilo.
Will David and Maddie find a way to each other with other complexities in their life?
I really enjoyed this story and looking forward to more from this author! I love she narrates her own book :).

What a wonderful addition to the series!! Maddie and David’s story flows so well with the continuation of all the others. Having read the previous books in the series there were some redundant parts but necessary for someone who started with this book. I’m not sure I like the ending because it just, well, ends. There’s no summation or even a fin. Overall great book!

I absolutely love this book series, if I could give it more stars on the rating scale I would. The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series, where we get to read the story of Joe’s older brother, David, and find out about what happened to cause him to return from his time working as a doctor in Africa. Not only do we get to follow along with David, but we also get to know Maddie’s story. The sparks were flying between David, Kilo, and Maddie, at the end of the last book in this series, it’s time to find out which guy she chooses to be with. Also, what is up with Sylvia, David’s fiancé from Africa, he claims he will not be marrying but has to deal with issues that are weighing heavily on him. I love that this series takes place in the Pacific Northwest, a place I know very well. Cat Treadgold has done an amazing job portraying the beauty of Port Townsend, and the feeling of unity that is so well-known in its small community. It’s great that we get to continue with the story of the main characters from the first 2 books in this series. This group has grown together, but sometimes being together all the time, can lead to feelings of being too close. Will each of the couples be able to work through their marital issues, or will we see some relationships that have been building take a turn for the worse? You will not want to put this book down once you start reading it, the best part, is you do not have to read them in the order that they were written, I prefer to do it this way, but each book can stand on its own just as well. Return to the northwest with this series of novels. Leap into the world of the theatrical with this installment. When families intertwine, the drama ensues, and not merely the theatrical kind. There are so many sets of twins, you may lose your head trying to keep it all straight. Add in a modern romance, and this book is a winner for sure!

I love this series, it has so much romance and comedy, a mean girl and family events. Maddie and David are the cutest. They can try to hide it, but it is there for those who are reading this story. So how long can Maddie and David go before they let their true feelings come out? Just what happened to David while he was in Africa? Let’s not forget Sylvia David’s Fiance, where does she fit in? The author has once again written an intriguing page turner. I listened to the author read her story and was caught within the first chapter. The story was well written and easy to follow. It has everything a great romance can give you. Please read the first 2 books in order. As there is so much more to this story.

The Magic Man is book 3 In The Olympic Peninsula Series, as with the first 2, I am a BIG fan of them. Not only because they are just so well written, but because I actually live in Port Townsend and in the first pages, they are at Manresa Castle in which my daughter is actually the Hotel manager. So, these books have been extra fun for me to read. They are contemporary romance full of family, love, drama and all the good stuff. This is David and Maddie’s story. All of the characters are well written and interesting which makes them easy to connect with. I of course could not put it down and would highly recommend.

The 3rd book in this series and you will want to read them in order as they do overlap and the storyline keeps growing and developing from book to book. This book is mainly about David and Maddie but you get a lot of situations arising with the first two couples from books one and two as well. The tension, both sexual and otherwise, between Maddie and David is felt on almost every page. I found myself rooting for them.

The Magic Man The Olympic Peninsula Series, Book 3
David is basically a stranger at the beginning of this book. He was mentioned in passing a few times but not a lot was known. He definitely didn’t give me the warm fuzzies.
Maddie is a sweet woman who listens to her heart instead of her brain from time to time. There were a few times that she showed that.
I enjoyed the book overall, but I was unable to make a connection with David which surprised and disappointed me. Ms. Treadgold did a wonderful job narrating and has a voice that is very soothing which was much needed this week.
Looking forward to the next books, but the mystery of Edward is truly intriguing.

Women Unbroken brought me out of my current reading slump! WARNING The domestic violence is heavy. I enjoyed that the author was able to keep my interest the whole time and the main character was relatable. The story was written well.

Devorah has had more than enough trauma to last a lifetime. After leaving her abusive husband she is on a mission, albeit not too quickly, to regain control of herself and her life. Woman Unbroken was an emotional read. The main character, Devorah, was easy to like and relate to. I love that in seeking a new life Devorah didn’t take the easy route. The author did a great job truly making this a story of rediscover and working through the tough stuff.

Woman Unbroken is an intense emotional novel. I could relate to her story directly and even if you can’t, the power of self-redemption shines through. The character of Devorah is one the reader can get behind and cheer on. The topic of domestic abuse is a heavy topic. Deborah goes through her trauma and becomes empowered. I love the strong female lead and the journey she goes through.

I really enjoyed the first two books in The Olympic Peninsula series and this one was no different. The O’Connell’s are back in this book and it’s good to see what’s going with them. The Magic Man is a heartfelt tale well-written romance tale. The wonderful characters and the vivid narrative helps to move the story along. You will find yourself falling in love with our MC’s as they navigate their feelings. David is a changed man gone is the happy go lucky man he once was, and it has everyone worried. His past is getting in the way of something that could be amazing, oh and let’s not forget that a one temperamental fiancée. Just who is the Magic Man? The sexual tension is smouldering, but Maddie knows when it is time to walk away no matter what her heart feels. But could there be danger just around the corner? Cat has written something that will hit you in all the feels. With few emotional twists to navigate, the Magic Man, should not be missed. Get your hands on it today and get lost in the pages of this Women’s fiction romantic tale. I cannot wait to see what she brings next in the series.

The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series by Cat Treadgold. It is another well-woven contemporary romance with interesting characters, family dynamics, emotion, drama, angst, complications, a bit of a love triangle element, interconnected characters, intrigue, and more. Here we meet David O’Connell who has arrived for his sister Teresa’s wedding (Teresa & Liam’s story ->’The Guardsman’ Book #2). His family notice that he isn’t the man he used to be- what is he hiding? What happened to him to make him so serious, subdued, and secretive? As the story unfolds the intrigue mounts, and when revelations are made, the story doesn’t let go. As with the first two instalments, Ms. Treadgold has woven a great story with complex characters, interesting developments, tension, and emotional touches- which made it really easy to connect with the characters, and completely invest in their story (but, that’s not to say there weren’t a few frustrating moments with them along the way). Yay, I love that we got to have another in this series. As with all the others, this one lived up to the others. We have a strong female character in Maddie. She goes through a lot of challenges. David O’Connell comes home to join his family and meets Maggie. This is one relationship that I enjoyed watching develop and grow. They have chemistry and were able to work through things. We also got to see familiar faces from the previous books. The author does a wonderful job of giving us some complex stories that keep you engaged and reading. When you finish, you want more. In this, I hope there will be more. This is a romance series that I will always recommend because you end up thinking, enjoying and relating to them.

Although they are not a series, this is another story that takes place in Millersville and I’m staring to wonder if this town is cursed. This time around Karina is back home running her grandmother’s (Gigi) Cafe after her death. Karina soon finds that she has a mystery when Gigi’s diary goes missing. The book provides strong character development as the list of subjects is created and the reader gers to learn about each character that may have taken the diary. The resolution was quick and finalized in a single short chapter; so it felt a little rushed. Ultimately, this is a fast read that will keep you wanting more.

I have just recently started to really enjoy this type of genre! This author did not disappoint with this thriller. I really enjoy the writing style as this is the second book of hers I have read. They have a way of keeping you interested without being overly descriptive. Karina is not completely sure of who she can trust and keeps running into dead ends as she searches for her grandmother’s diary. Along with the cafe it was left to her when her grandmother passed and Karina was told to read it and take care of the cafe as her grandmother’s dying wish. So when the diary goes missing it becomes a frantic search to find out who took it and why. Is there more in the diary than just her grandmother’s thoughts? With lots of twists in the story and secrets being revealed this book will definitely keep you interested!

Karina is struggling with her life at the moment. She’s attempting to run her grandmother’s cafe to honor her memory. Keeping up with the day to day responsibilities at the cafe s a lot and she is trying to make her grandmother proud after her unexpected deathbed request. When her unreliable and flaky cousin is more focused on her love life than covering her entire shift, life gets a bit exhausting.
When a mysterious diary is uncovered by a nosey guest and then mysteriously disappears, the mysterious plot thickens.
I really enjoyed how well the author wrote and created the characters in this book. While the characters differ on most fronts, all come across the page as authentic and quite unique.
The dynamic plot has a bit of everything to keep the reader engaged throughout the entire story.
You do not need to be a fan of this genre or author to pick up this book, fall in love with the story and become an instant fan of both.

I have read many books by this author, and I believe that this is my favorite so far! I sat down to read this book on a whim and finished it all at once – sorry for all the responsibilities I otherwise neglected! We get to experience life with 24-year-old Karina who loses her grandmother that raised her. It’s heart wrenching and emotional on every level as Karina herself starts to think she’s going crazy. Once someone steals her grandmother’s diary, she knows something bigger is going on. Spinning an incredibly suspenseful tale, this author will throw twists and turns your way on this rollercoaster. I highly recommend picking it up if you’re looking for a quick book to get lost in!

Secrets at the Café is a suspenseful mystery with drama, suspense, secrets, lies, rumors, death, loss, grief, and family relationships. The story centers around the character of Karina who has promised her grandmother that she will look after her café after she passes away. This involves Karina moving back to her small hometown and completely upheaving her life, but she loved her grandmother dearly and will do anything to ensure she follows through on the promise she made. Part of the promise Karina made to her grandmother involves reading a journal her grandmother left behind. However, before she has a chance to read it the journal completely disappears. Rumors are circulating around town about a hidden stash of money so everyone is a suspect. With the list of suspects increasing by the moment, Karina has her work cut out for her trying to determine who stole the journal. A tense, action-filled ride, with twists and turns to keep you reading until the final page. The storyline is intriguing, the characters are admirable, and the secrets the missing journal may contain makes for a compelling read. A great read!

Another amazing read by Susan Specht Oram, she never disappoints! Secrets at the Cafe: A Novel of Suspense about Family and Friendship is full of secrets (as the title implies) with an interesting plot. This one is a cozy mystery, so nothing too brutal or over the top, but plenty of twists and turns along the way. When Karina’s grandmother passes away, she is left in charge of the family cafe and her journal. When the journal is stolen, Karina has to make sure she gets it back, afterall, it was her grandmother’s dying wish. Now with the unread journal missing, the questions begin to circle in. What is in this journal that is so important, is it a treasure map of sorts? Was it taken for greed or to keep something hidden? Who would want her grandmother’s secrets, or who would want to keep them hidden? So many questions and the only way to answer them is to get the journal back. There was definitely some questionable decisions made. Some distrust and some trust given in places that did not make sense to me, but overall I really liked this story and how it played out.

This is the first book I have read by this author and hope to read more of hers. It’s about being in an abusive relationship and finding her way out to begin a new life for herself. I hope anyone who is in an abusive relationship can relate and to be able to start over themselves. Good book!

Secrets at the Café: A Novel of Suspense about Family and Friendship by Susan Specht Oram. This author has quickly become one of my favorites. This is my favorite genre and I loved this story. Its the story of Karina who has promised her grandmother, Gigi that she will run her cafe when she passes. So Karina picks up and moves back home to take over Gigi’s Cafe. When she moves into her Gigi’s home she finds all kinds of secrets about her Gigi. She finds a diary that says there is a substantial amount of money to be found so when she misplaces the diary the whole town is looking for it. While Karina searches the house she finds all kinds of mysterious things. She finds secrets about everyone in town along the way. While trying to find the diary she questions everyone about it. Will she find the diary before the wrong person does? Read this fun mystery to find out!

This us one of my new favorite authors, and every new book she writes I’m first in line to read it! I enjoy reading her suspenseful novels, and every new story is so much more refreshing than the last. I read this book and my heart broke as Karina faced the death of her grandmother, and the task of taking over her restaurant. The suspenseful events start right away and in a search to find out where this prized journal is located, so many other secrets arise. I would be surprised if one of this authors books doesn’t end up in a movie, the writing is SO VIVID! Thank you again for another masterpiece!

Susan has so quickly become one of my favorite authors. Honestly I know I’m going to sit down and lose all sense of time and place because she sucks you in so deeply. My heart was racing, palms sweaty more than once reading this one. I cannot get enough of the mystery/look over your shoulder thrillers. The characters she creates captivate your attention and you just feel as if you have been friends for a long time. Read any book by Susan and you won’t be disappointed.

Karina makes her grandmother a promise on her deathbed to take over the cafe back in her hometown and to read her journal. Coming back home from the city and running the small cafe proves to be harder than Karina thought and she’s struggling to keep up, forget trying to find the journal. One day, a customer snooping around the house finds the journal and it quickly goes missing. Rumors begin to swirl the small town about a hidden treasure and secrets. Karina must find out who took her grandmothers journal, find out family secrets and whether there really is a hidden treasure. My first book by this author. The writing style was not my favorite but the story line was good.
