This was a really good book. Debbie Manber Kupfer added a bit of a twist to the usual shifter genre and I liked it. This novel had a few twists and turns which made for a very interesting read. I loved following the story of Miri as she learned about her heritage and also found love. Debbie Manber Kupfer is a talented author and I look forward to reading more from her.

by Debbie Manber Kupfer

I enjoyed this book. I do feel that this is more appropriate for young adults/teens than adults but it was still a very enjoyable read full of magic. I liked the main character Miri a lot. She always felt different from others and I loved the feeling she got when she transformed for the first time, it made her feel more like herself. In this story there is friendship, growth, danger, adventure, history and more. This book draws you in and keeps you entertained needing to know what’s going to happen. There are many different characters in this book, some you will love and some you will loath. I recommend this book.

P. A. W. S. is the first book in the P. A. W. S. Saga series.
This is my first read by this author and it was a good experience. While I don’t usually read YA, this book was entertaining. There were a couple of references that would make this book questionable for anyone under the age of 16. I enjoyed the author’s unique touches on the supernatural and the world building was excellent. Overall, while this book was fairly tame for me, I think it would be a good read for the younger crowd. A teen would most likely relate well to the main character who feels out of place in the world and who is learning about who she is.

A Study in Spirits is the second book in the College Fae Series by Byrd Nash. Although I didn’t read the first book in this series, I had no problem jumping right into this story. I enjoyed this book so much, I will be going back and reading the first book. This book was filled with magic, mystery and adventure. The world building was great and the characters were well developed. Brigit, Logan and the rest of the gang took me on a wonderful adventure that I couldn’t put down until I read the last page. Byrd Nash has a wonderful imagination and a great ability to put her thoughts into amazing stories. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae Magic Series #2 was an interesting read. When Brigit, a fae princess, is accused of stealing the answers to a test and she sets out to clear her name. However, in the process of uncovering who really did it they start to uncover some mysterious goings on within the college library. The group of friends must utilise their special skills to uncover the truth and stop all the knowledge being removed from existence. This book is perfect for those who enjoy a good fantasy novel, the group of characters work well together and have a strong bond, when new girl Emma joins them, she seems to find her place. The supporting characters are also quite interesting, I hope to find out more about them in the next book.

The intrigue and mystery of this one will catch you by your bootstraps and keep you hooked from the beginning. Miri’s grandma has passed but she died with a secret. After such a heartbreaking blow, she’s left alone and isolated in a boarding school in a new state. Miri discovers she’s special in a very magical way when bullied at school that her grandma’s secret didn’t die with her after all. Miri is caught between the balance of her powers: Does she save herself and can she save her family as well?
The more she learns about these strange, magical powers by a few select others, the family’s history comes alive. This opens up the world to a completely different type of danger.
In the first of this series, we meet and go into the adventures of the Partnership for Animagi, Werewolves and Shapeshifters, better known as P.A.W.S. of St. Louis. Twisted, this book is, but in the best way: Almost like a guilty pleasure. Page-turner cause you’ll be craving for a new chapter after chapter. Wonderful characters who you can’t help but love from the way they’re special powers are connected to their stories is exciting to bring you more into the book. The world-building is incredible in this one! Easy read because you’ll be craving for more of the adventures these guys take us on.

Anne by Zarina Macha – Review by Katie Matthews

I do sometimes read YA novels but they are usually of the romance type so when I saw the blurb for this one I was intrigued, it sounded like it might be a different kind of read and it absolutely was. It was such a powerful read and the author explored so many different situations/topics that can affect young adults and coming of age. I was really impressed by the authors writing, the flow of the story was really good and my interest was kept from beginning to end. I really felt for Anne, she had so much to overcome in her life, there were moments when my heart broke for her. There was a danger the author could have fallen into a stereotypical story with some of the things the character went through but I felt she really planned and thought about the path in which her characters would take.
Anne was in my opinion a well written, powerful and emotional read and one that I would highly recommend!

I give P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer, 5 stars.

I will admit, I was recommended this book by the author a couple years ago as something I may like in an event, purchased it, then unfortunately forgot about. My TBR list is huge and I can stop buying. Anyway, I finally got the opportunity to read it and I can’t believe I waited so long. I would say this is a teen book, but as an adult, I enjoyed it immensely. As a cat lover, this is what drew me in and I really like Miri as a main character. She feels alone and not quite understood, but she learns more about herself and steps up when she needs to. It does have a feel of being inspired by the Harry Potter books, but the author makes it her own in the types of characters and the world she creates. There are so many other characters I am dying to learn more of as the series goes on. Then there is the story itself. Miri feels like an outcast and all alone. Most people, especially teenagers, can relate to this. She is finally able to find a place she feels more comfortable, but events happen that do not make it as easy as it seems.

If you like a world of magic and fantastic creatures and people in a young adult/teenage age group, this book is for you.

I absolutely loved reading this one and I don’t care that it’s for young adults because at 32, I love a good read and this was definitely that.
We follow Brigit in college but she has to do something to prove her innocence and she’s totally bad-ass at doing it as she does things her way.
Someone has falsely accused her of doing detest actions that don’t fit her character and she’s out to clear her name to the university.
Even worse, as a fairy, she owes a debt to her doppleganger as she has to unravel what’s leering in the library. Whatever it is, it’s haunting the books she loves which is all the ammunition she needs to put an end to this thing’s reign of terror. Since the administration at the university, Brigit and her friends will do what they must to put an end to it.
Brigit’s friends have unique gifts of their own to unravel the mysteries before them which makes this book juicier. Logan can recognize the truth within the blink of an eye and gamer girl Emma may know more than she’s letting on. The ghosts of the school are even on the side of the good but the evil force may be way more powerful than they initially thought.

A Study in Spirits by Byrd Nash is the second book in A College Fae Magic series. The author says there will be four books in the series, one for each year of school. This is a fairly short, quick read but the author accomplishes a lot in those pages. In this book Brigit has been accused of stealing answers and vandalism. With her friends she must clear her name or be expelled from school. I enjoyed the characters of Brigit and Logan as well as the secondary characters in the story. This is a nice get away from the day to day isolation from being at home giving out a bit of magic to all of us. I look forward to reading more in this series.

A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) by Byrd Nash. This is the second book in this series and I think it’s even better than the first. I’m not a huge fantasy fan but these books are the exception. I loved the first one and I believe I loved this one even more. Its the continuing story of Brigit who is a student at Leopold Otto University and if she wants to continue to be a student there she needs to prove that she is not the person stealing & changing test results. With her friend Logan and his ability to recognize the truth and their new friend Emma who may hold the key to the whole mystery they are determined to find solve this. This monster is destroying Brigit’s much loved books and she is determined to stop it not only to prove herself not guilty but to catch this horrible culprit. We meet some new friends as well in this book and they definitely add to the story. Will these monsters prove to difficult to stop or will Brigit and Logan be able to stop them before its too late? P.A.W.S is the first book in the P.A.W.S Saga series by Debbie Manber Kupfer. It is a wonderful YA paranormal fantasy, with shapeshifters, werewolves, secrets, magic, adventure, danger, violence, drama, and a sprinkle of romance. This is a journey of self-discovery, finding where you belong, friendship, and more.
This is my first read from Debbie Manber Kupfer- and I am happy I stumbled on this cute story. There was a lot to love about the book. It does have a bit of a Harry Potter-esque feel to the story, and like Harry our MC is a bit of a lonely misfit- until she finds where she ‘belongs’.
Miri’s life turns upside down when her grandmother dies, and she is shipped off to boarding school. But little does she know that this will be the start of a great adventure. From being a bit of an outcast, Miri discovers the ‘family secret’ and begins her journey to her true self. But danger is stalking her with sinister intent. What happens from here, makes for a captivating read.
Now- on to Book #2!

Thank you, Debbie Manber Kupfer!

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae Magic Series #2 by Byrd Nash is the follow on from Never Date a Siren. It is a wonderful Young Adult story full of paranormal beings, college life, humour, drama, debts, bonds, challenges, lessons, magic, danger, adventure, and more.
We meet back up with Brigit, Logan, and their friends as this next adventure unfolds. A new school year has started at Leopold Otto University and Brigit finds herself accused of cheating and will need to clear her name or face expulsion. Then there’s the matter of being indebted to the Doppelganger (from book #1 ‘Never Date A Siren’) after his help with the siren problem from the last year. More problems arise when a spate of vandalism in the library sets off a hunt to uncover the ‘monster’ behind the destruction. Never a dull moment for these characters.
This is a fantastic second instalment and as I am now completely invested in the characters, I really can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next book!
Such a fun read!!!

I give A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash, 5 stars.

The first book in this series was so much fun and I anxiously awaited the next one. Well, it passed the grade and then some. The book was outstanding! Sticking with the same group of characters from book 1, there is also an addition of another character to their group who is just as interesting and I would love to see more of in the future. The characters are so great because they work together so well and all have kindness to others in their heart. Albeit different and not always on the same page, they work together to help those in need. This time, the focus is something evil in the library. The way they go about solving everything is so interesting and you just can’t put the book down. The story is entertaining and fun, the characters are real but not too pretentious, and there is of course a talking cat, which just pushes it over the edge for me.

If you are a fan of college aged main characters in an urban fantasy setting, this book is for you.

Anne by Zarina Macha is a book that deals with some serious issues in a sympathetic and engaging way. As a young adult book it touches on subjects that a lot of others in the genre tend to stay away from. It really takes you on the ups and downs of being an adolescent and delves into issues that a lot of them face in today’s society.
With that being said it is quite an easy book to read. It has a nice steady pace about it and the author builds up the characters well. This is one of those books that I think for people in the genre it is definitely worth a read! And for those who don’t usually read this genre I would suggest they give it a go.

I enjoyed this story. It’s the second in the series. In here we get to delve deeper into each of the characters we have met. While there is a problem on campus they have become involved in because of Celia’s new roomie.

There is much to love about these characters. The whole dryad (tree) Fae thing. How she can step into trees. Then in the library I loved the idea of how the books were crying having their knowledge ripped from them. Then the dryad struggled as well because….well books are paper and paper was trees…genius! Logan with his “seeing the truth” and the Japanese squirrel and the cat (Jib). All great! I don’t even know what to say about the doppelgänger. Just freaky!

I love the world this author has created. Anyone who reads paranormal fantasy should love this. It tickles the funny one and engages the grey matter.

The story was interesting and varied. I liked that different lore was combined in the book to create an in-depth world. The characters were fun to read about – the bad and the good. The range of personalities, and their links to their animal shapes, was done well.
This is was a great book and one I enjoyed.

The story P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer is a YA/Supernatural/Fantasy book. It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is exciting, entertaining, and magical. I loved reading about the character of Miri. She is a young girl who finds herself on a journey that is mysterious and will encounter surprises along the way. She meets new friends who are members of the Partnership for Animagi, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters. Read the book for more of Miri’s story. This story has some action, danger, and a bit of romance. Miri is a character that I grew to love with each chapter that I read and wanted her to be happy. Many of the additional characters are the friends that she makes, and I enjoyed reading about their interactions. The book has moments when I felt for Miri and what she was going through and others that warmed my heart. I loved that there are many different supernatural characters. Don’t miss out on a story with amazing characters and a storyline that keeps your interest until the very end. I would highly recommend reading it.

A Study In Spirits by Byrd Nash a five-star show stealing read. This is number two in the College Fae Magic series, and flows well from the first novel and just continues with the great story. There is something special about the characters in this story, I like how we have many of the same characters as the first story, but some new to keep it fresh, the characters have such depth to them they will surprise you. The whole premise of this story is one that brings a fresh look at the genre, this really is a great story, there are some great friendships shown despite the differences between characters, its nice to see the difference shown and overcome. I enjoyed the flashbacks in this story, they just added another layer to the story. If you enjoy a good story and a bit of fantasy, then you won’t go wrong reading this series.

She is sent to a boarding school. This is when it becomes rough for Anne. In this story, Anne is a confused teenager. Zarina Macha does an amazing job with this difficult subject. P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer. A different kind a shifter story, I was really intrigued at the start of the book you meet Celia. Celia and family are hiding in the back room of there house in Vienna, when the Gestapo Soldiers came, Celia watched as her family was herded out of the door. The story then jumps to Miriam’s (Miri) point of view. The story of Miri is a sad tale to start, her mother gave her to her Omama (Celia) to raise up till she was ten when tragically Celia dies but leaves Miri a parting gift, a gift Miri doesn’t realise will help her later in life. I don’t want to give too much away but I absolutely loved this story. Debbie created multiple plots throughout this story that all tie together in the end. Such a good read would highly recommend.
