The Uncrowned King (The Blood Prince Series) by Ayla Marie – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book I have read by this author, however this is the second book of the series. I really had a time getting past the few chapters mostly because I couldn’t get into it. But as I continued to read I started to understand Leo’s story. I will tell you that I was drawn to this story because of the cover. Leo’s father refused to be king when he was alive, so does Leo follow in his father’s footsteps? I do feel like I should have book one and then book two so I will definitely be looking into the first one. I do suggest that you read it in order though because it might make connections easier to grasp. I am definitely looking forward to reading the first one and probably rereading this one before moving on to the next book.

The Uncrowned King is the second book in The Blood Prince Trilogy. Like her previous book the writing was wonderful and absorbing and most definitely enthralling, nothing like what you would expect from a high schooler. Ayla Marie most certainly has talent and I will look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Starting off this book got me in the first paragraph. That never happens to me. Usually it takes me 1-2 pages to get into the book. They saying “The devil’s in the details” is absolutely true in this book. There is so many things going on at all once, but it isn’t overwhelming and gets lost easy. It stays on track and gains momentum. I love the different POV’s. It gives you a look into the character’s thinking and how they are processing things. The story between Amelia and Dane was insane. Amelia is trying to get out of her arranged marriage, while Dane is doing something completely different AND trying not to die by aggravating Kassandra. This book has everything for everyone. Magic, different races, Academia romance, chaos, mayhem and so much more. I absolutely loved it and simply can’t wait for Dragons!

I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up The Blood Prince by Ayla Marie, and I actually found book two first. The Blood Prince is this authors debut novel and I was flabbergasted by how much I really enjoyed it. I didn’t know until I looked on Goodreads that Ayla Marie is a High School student?! What? It definitely did not read like a novel written by a high school student. Such suspenseful, well done writing. I can’t wait to read book two.

I definitely recommend reading the first book before reading this one. This was a great jump into the second book and I loved how you get to read from three different perspectives. I really enjoyed getting to have insight into the other characters. Leo has to make some hard decisions to keep his family safe. Having to learn who you can trust is never easy and then finding a place to be safe. This book pulls you in just like the first. As always there are twists and turns in the plot that leaves you on a small cliffhanger for book three!

The second book in the series, The Uncrowned King, is full of action and excitement! I do not recommend picking this one up without reading the first as it picks up right where the first one ends. Leo and his family deal with several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming in a story that ended too soon for me! It follows the structure of the first following multiple points of view of Leo, Elana, and Cael. Leo just wants to find peace for him and his family. Will he finally accomplish his goal, or will he be stopped. This author is quickly becoming one that I will watch for their work. I hope you have your responsibilities taken care of because you will ignore them while you get lost in this book! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

This is the first book in the series and what an amazing start! Since I hadn’t read anything by this author before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleased to be pulled into an adventurous YA fantasy that pulled at my heartstrings. It is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions with characters that you root for and become invested in quite quickly. This book didn’t feel rushed at all, which I fully appreciated as the author took care in creating a magnificent world. Do yourself a favor and get in this book for the weekend!

This is the second book in the Blood Prnice series. This book follows on from the first so I highly recommend going back to read the first prior to this one if you havent already.

Once again I had a great time following Leo and co. on their adventures learning the way around their new lives. I was again drawn in by the characters and the world surrounding them, well-written and full of twists to keep you engaged to the end.

I have become emotionally invested in the character’s lives and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had almost forgotten about this series until I saw this book out and knew I had to get it. Martin knows how to write an enticing tale in this genre. I was so excited to jump in.
Betrayal of the Gods is the fifth book in the amazing Relic Hunters series. Whether you are a YA or in your sixties like me this adventure story is another exciting tale in this excellent series. This is my favourite in the series to date, but I do tend to think that with the others.
Martin gives his readers plenty of thrills, mystery, drama and danger that jumps off the page. Add in some twists and turns in this complex and engaging storyline and you have an action-packed story that has been cleverly woven into a tale that cannot be missed. With historical facts mixed in Martin has created something so engrossing that you will not want to put it down.
Adam and Matt are in the fight for their lives this time. It is the brothers against the world and now they don’t know who is friend or foe as they race against time learning myth and legends to find what they are after but with everyone against them things are not as hopeful as they should be.
This one will have the blood pumping as you race against hope with them.
I can’t wait for more from Martin.

This is book 2 in The Blood Prince Trilogy and wow the story just keeps getting better. I do strongly recommend reading these books in order as if you don’t you will miss major details that you need to be able to understand and follow this book.
This is a YA story that is full of action and adventure. There are so many twists and turns in this book that I couldnt put it down until I was finished.
The authors world and charcter building was amazing and really brought everything to life.
Even though this is a YA story I found it just as enjoyable in my 30s and I am so excited for the next book to see how the story ends.

This is the second book in this series. I highly suggest reading the first book before this one to help your enhancement of this series as well as the characters. In this book Leo and his siblings find their new home. What will happen when the past comes to the present and they are after blood. They are now in a game of fight for survival. Who will win and who will lose is up to you to read and find out. You don’t want to miss out for sure. It was great seeing the characters again and what situation they found themselves in. My favorite is Leo and his determination is great. I enjoyed watching the growth of the characters and the plot throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down and engaging. A story that will keep you coming back for more until the end. I really enjoyed this book and this series. I highly recommend this book.

The Uncrowned King (The Blood Prince Series) by Ayla Marie. This is the second book in the Blood Prince series and its so good. I do recommend reading the first book to better understand characters and timelines. Its about Leo who is supposed to be the next King but he doesn’t want that. He doesn’t want the power he just wants to use the position to make a place for him and his loved ones. When he is first presented with the crown he automatically says no but he and his family decide they can use that position for their betterment. Will Leo succeed in finding a place for his family and friends to thrive and feel safe in? There is murder, intrigue, loyalty and more in this family tale that is a young adult read but I really enjoyed it and I think others will too. Its a fast paced read that will have you reading until you finish. Do yourself a favor and read this fun young adult fantasy, you won’t be disappointed!

The Uncrowned King is sequel of The Blood Prince. I would recommend reading that one first before diving into this next part of the story! The Uncrowned King picks up right at the height of the action with Leo and his siblings surrounded by the court of IIlena. Are they any safer in this new place? Leo must make some tuff decisions to keep his family safe. Will all hope be lost? The book has three main perspectives (Leo, Elena, and Cael). I like the change of narrator because we get more insight into the other characters. I recommend reading book these books by Ayla Marie, she is talented writer! There is a minor cliffhanger at the end of the story so I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Details, details, details. This is the first time I have heard of this incredible author, R.C. Reigh, and honestly paragraph one had me hooked. Her writing style, the number of details and everything just pull you in and lock you in the upright position for the world and adventures she is about to take you on. Told from multiple perspectives we get a full scope of the story, and every detail from different sides along the way.
Prince Dane of Carpathia is a wolf shifter and through an early alliance of his kingdom to Avonlee he is betrothed to Princess Amelia. Not only do we see the story unfold from both of their perspectives, but we get several others, Cora, Kessara, and Roarke just to name a few. Each having their own parts in the plot that keep the story moving at a steady pace. Amelia enters Bastion with one goal to convince Dane to release her from their arrangement that was made while they were just babes. But what follows is no less than heart pounding twists and turns as the characters learn more than they ever expected at Bastion Academy.
I cannot wait to read book two, Dragons, and continue to see how this incredible world continues to be revealed.

The Uncrowned King (The Blood Prince Book 2)The Uncrowned King by Ayla Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Uncrowned King is the second book in The Blood Prince YA fantasy series. Leo is the rightful heir to the throne but doesn’t want to be King, he just hopes to use his connection to the crown to secure a safe place for him and those he loves.

This is an exciting book full of action and intrigue. Every decision Leo and his family make is watched by those around them and could impact their safety, positively or negatively. They must choose who to trust, which rules to bend, when to insist on doing things their way.

The story gets quite dark at times, and emotional at others (and of course dark and emotional!). There were times when I had to put it down for a moment just to absorb what had happened and have a break from the intensity! But other times I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know what happened next.

The Uncrowned King gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of fantasy series with maps in the front and unconventional families with tight bonds.

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf is the first book in the Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns series. I was unsure if I could get into the story, but once I got through the first chapter, I couldn’t put it down. The series is full of fantasy, romance, and intrigue. The 7 Kingdoms are brought together, and the fragile agreements are challenged when the new Bastion Academy is opened. Will the new academy help bring the Kingdoms together or pull them further apart?
I enjoyed the pairing of Amelia and Dane, who are the primary focus of this book. Keep in mind that each book will focus on 2 characters, but of course, there are other storylines following from book to book. I enjoyed learning more about the world that the story is set in, watching how the different characters are introduced, and trying to figure out where each of their stories will go. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is the first book in the Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns series. The fact that the blurb describes this as a mix between GOT, LOTR and Pride and Prejudice had me wanting to read this immediately. Some of my top favourites combined, I had very high hopes! This book did not disappoint.
There were great characters and a plot I thoroughly enjoyed. The pairing of Amelia and Dane was great, their interactions and concept behind their relationship was interesting and engaging. Other character, Cora for example, were also brilliant and I hope to see more of all of them throughout the series! The world building was creative and in depth. I enjoyed the setting of the magical academy and how it was set up nicely for future novels.
I loved this world, the plot, the author’s writing style and the characters. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

The Blood Prince by Ayla Marie is the first book of two. The first half of the book is told from Leo’s perspective. He is a mercenary and extremely dangerous. This story is so immersive and incredible. Their story is all about persevering through difficult times.
