Cyma is trying to hold down two jobs while still being a good Mom to her daughter who has many medical issues. With mounting medical bills, and loan payments to a terrible man, she does her best to avoid her landlord who wants his 4 months back rent. She’s sold all she can to make ends meet and just can’t catch a break. With her past causing her to trust no man and a very low self esteem, she just does her best to survive on her own. When she ends up in a very scary situation and a sexy stranger saves her she runs away as fast as she can, that’s the last thing she needs right now.
Dante ran away 10 years ago and enlisted to escape the pain of a life altering tragic loss which still haunts his dreams 10 years later. He returned 6 years ago and is now the right hand man of a mob boss who is trying to take all his businesses legal. He lives with a lot of guilt because of his losses and doesn’t feel deserving of any kind of relationship, he has even distanced himself from his loving supportive parents. All he needs is his job, money, and the right to spoil his Godson. Until he hears the cries of a woman in trouble and his need to protect her kicks in.
Dante sets out to find this woman that has stirred up feelings he never thought he could have again, and although Cyma feels like Dante could be everything opposite of what she believes about men she keeps pushing him away, she has to protect her daughter at all costs. Can these two break through the barriers that they both have set and find a happily ever after even while outside forces do all they can to destroy them?
I so so so loved this book!! This author knows how to tell a story that feels so real. Every word meant something and the story flowed perfectly. It had me wrapped while reading the prologue and I think I even quit breathing during some of it. This is my first book by this author so although part of a series I never felt lost and I plan to read the first in this series as soon as possible, as well as whatever else she has out there. She is now on my favorite author and one click list. Loved it!!!
