WOW!! This book has me at a loss for words. I won’t lie, it did take me a little while to get into the story line, but stick it out and I promise you will not regret it. I have so many mixed emotions for each character, I want to take Kris’ side most of the time but then I want to be on Nicole’s side and my head is just a mess.

Nicole is, as the description says, a piece of work. I want to hate her, I want to smack her and knock some sense into her. I understand her boss is demanding, but at some point I would think she would just say no. No to all the late night and very early phone calls, no to staying at work late A LOT. I want her to say yes to spending time with her family, especially her kids. These wishes, I did not get. Nicole did in fact work late, and took her boss’ phone calls even at the most inconvenient times, and I could feel Kris’ patience with her and their marriage waning.

Kris is a good father, a good husband and sometimes will go out of his way to try and plan something for them as a family, like a technology free weekend. Well you can guess how that turned out from my description of Nicole. I know he loves his wife, but the way she acts and the way she treats him and the kids is weighing on him heavily. I don’t blame him for some of the things he does, his wife’s actions would probably make anyone snap, but I think maybe he did take things a little too far at the end. I thought he had more self restraint.

This review may be vague and I do apologize. I don’t want to give anything away or spoil any of the plot because, I truly want anyone who reads this book to get all of the surprises like I did. This book had me shaking my head, talking to myself and asking questions to nobody. This is a book I normally wouldn’t pick up and read, but the summary had me wanting to give it a try and I am so glad I did. I do recommend this book, and will say again please stick it out because the story is fantastic and totally worth the late night reading sessions to finish.
