4-stars

Wild Heart is the 4th book in Belinda’s Hollywood Hearts series and its also my first book by this author so I can honestly say that it can be read as a standalone as I had no problem jumping right into this story.

Cole and Faith’s relationship is complicated, dramatic, and full of emotional history. I loved following their journey as they tried to navigate their relationship all while pursuing their careers. I loved how there was always something going on as this had me feeling really connected to the characters and praying for a happy ending.

I will definitely be going into the first three books of the series ASAP, I can’t wait to read more from this author and I would absolutely recommend this book to others!

4-stars

Heels of Fortune is the incredibly entertaining sequel in Lynne Russell’s PJ Santini series. Having read both books I would strongly suggest reading this series in order as this book follows exactly where the first one left off and is following the same characters.

PJ is one of the funniest and sassiest characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading about this year. She never fails to have me laughing while following her relatively serious storyline.

Lynne writes with so much detail that I was able to really connect with her characters and I look forward to reading more form her in the future!

Heels of Fortune is the second book in the PJ Santini Series. You really need to read book 1 as this is a continuation from that book. In this book PJ Santini is still at it trying to unravel the mysteries that seem to be surrounding her. She is still uncovering the truth of her late husband’s death and once the secrets are out there her life is put in danger. What I love about this book is you truly don’t know who to trust and the tangled web slowly reveals itself. The combo of funny/witty and mystery is awesome in this story. I really enjoyed this book. There where times all I could do was just read faster!

WOW!! I’m in a bit of shock at how much I enjoyed this book. It was an edge of your seat fast moving, easy to follow story that started out with life in a mafia family to being trained as a deadly spy with a bit of erotic thrown in the mix.

I don’t normally read this type of genre mainly because I just have trouble keeping up with more complicated issues like terrorism and spies, but this one was so easy to understand and follow that I could definitely see reading the rest of this series, as a matter of fact I sincerely must read the rest of this series, I have read other stories by this author and also enjoyed those, so it’s safe to say that I will be looking into not only the rest of this series but other books by this author.

Many thanks to this author for opening up the door for a new genre for me to enjoy!

Loved it!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am just in awe of this author I really am, I have read every single book that she has written and still I am completely hooked on her writing. I know that when I pick up a book by her I am not putting it down until I have finished! Whilst Savage Collision will always be my all-time favourite Tainted Saint is right up there with it! I loved Saint! He’s appeared in previous books and I was so excited to see him get his own story along with Caroline! They were just SO perfect for each other! The chemistry between them just sizzled and that very first scene between them – oh my gosh talk about scorching hot!!!
The Luca saga continues and wow does it throw up some very unexpected twists and turns! I know I’m probably not meant to like him but I can’t help it! There is something about him!! And the ending!!! I cannot wait for the next book in the series I need to know what is going to happen!! I think to fully understand what is going on in the story and the underlying back story that is continuing this series is best read in order – trust me you will not be disappointed with any of the stories!

Operation Boyfriend by Molly Zenk – Review by Katie Matthews

Operation BoyfriendOperation Boyfriend by Molly Zenk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Operation Boyfriend was a nice new adult romance read and one that I really enjoyed. When I first read the blurb I did think that the story was going to be a little predictable so I was very pleasantly surprised when it had me guessing a few times! I really liked Glynnis and can imagine many people can relate to some of the things she went through, she definitely had some bad luck when it came to relationships. I could really feel the dilemma she faced with both Corin and Daniel. I liked the twists that the author threw in to the story they definitely made me stop and think at times. The author’s easy writing style meant that I easily become absorbed into Glynnis life and I really did want her to find someone as nice as she was and I felt that she really deserved to be happy.
Overall a good 4 star read and one that I would recommend to other readers. This is also the first book that I have read by this author and I would like to read more from her again in the future.

Secure Desire : A Chase Group Story
By R.L. Dunn

Secure Desire is my first book by R.L. Dunn. While I enjoyed the story I found it didn’t flow nicely all through the book. I got a little confused but that may have been just me. If you like reading books that contains suspense, power, money and some strong characters then this is the book for you. This is about Cassie who has gone through alot in her life and Ian who has a security firm. I liked how the storyline developed with Cassie and Ian, their characters are quite likeable. This book is also a fight between good and bad. This book does have everything you could want in a book and I am sure you will enjoy the story as I did.

Danny Boy
I’ve somehow done the impossible: I got the girl I wanted.
Only, I have no idea how to make a lovely person like Amelia Patterson, my former therapist, happy.
She’s a respectable woman.
I’m a recovering . . . everything. Just barely getting a life together.
Though she may claim I have something to offer, it’s only a matter of time before she recoils from the reality of what I am.
At least, that’s what the old me – Danny Boy – keeps thinking.
The new me – Daniel – has to figure out how to make this work, even when it turns out Amelia and I want totally different things.

Amelia
I’ve thrown all caution to the wind and decided the fact that I was once Daniel’s therapist is not a big enough deterrent to keep from having a relationship with him.
I never should have crossed that line.
But I took a chance.
Because I couldn’t get him out of my head.
I couldn’t get him out of my heart.
The thing is, for all the work I did with him, and for all the progress he’s made, he’s still incredibly damaged. Is this really what I want? To be with a man who requires so much?
It’s a question I have to figure out, especially when it becomes clear that Daniel and I want totally different things.

HEELS OF FORTUNE: PJ Santini Series: Book Two by Lynne Russell – Review by Robin Rankin

Heels Of Fortune (PJ Santini Series Book 2)Heels Of Fortune by Lynne Russell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heels of Fortune by Lynne Russell is the second book in the P.J Santini series. This book picks up where the last left off, but P.J. is going to find herself in a completely different mess.

P.J. has an uncanny ability to get herself in the middle of some pretty interesting and dangerous situations even when they aren’t her fault. Which makes for a great and entertaining experience with some laughs thrown in for giggle.

I have specific parts that I really enjoyed but they are part of the storyline and I refuse to give anything away. Though I will say that I laughed out loud during the meeting with Willy and I love P.J.’s family.

Looking forward to reading more by Ms. Russell in the future.

North to Nara (Crimson Sash Book 1) by Amanda Marin – Review by Jenni Bishop

North to Nara (Crimson Sash, #1)North to Nara by Amanda Marin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

North to Nara (Crimson Sash Book 1) by Amanda Marin is a story that I fell in love with the characters. It is a YA dystopian tale and it reminds me along the lines of The End Game and the like. It’s a story about reigning rulerships that live under antiquated laws, where those who don’t abide by them are punished. It is a story of love that is forbidden and torn apart just for being in love. I enjoyed Amanda’s writing and the story flowed easily and my heart ached for the injustice these beautiful characters went through. It is a great start to the series and as a debut book for Amanda. I am now chomping on the bit for the next book.

Neve believed in all the world had to offer but that was before she came face to face with the truth, a truth that is kept from everyone. She never meant to fall in love with the wrong man but that is exactly what happened, and now they have to face the punishment.

Tainted Saint (Hawke Family #5)Tainted Saint by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tainted Saint by Gwyn McNamee is the fifth book in the Hawke Family series. I can’t believe we are already five books in this series. I love this group of characters and I’m dying to read the next book.

Saint captured my heart in this story for a few reasons. He is strong, protective and has a heart a gold. Also the fact he represented the Who Dat Nation didn’t hurt. ?

Caroline is similar to Dani in personality which is helpful since they’re best friends. She gets a “brilliant” idea which could end up costing her and others everything though her heart was in the right place.

This was much shorter than the others in the series but it was perfect for Saint and Caoline. I’ve said it before and will say it again you must read this book and series.

Wild Heart (Hollywood Hearts Book 4) by Belinda Williams – Review by Michelle Austin

Wild Heart (Hollywood Hearts, #4)Wild Heart by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wild Heart was an emotional 5 star read and book four in the Hollywood Hearts series.

Faith decides to take a break from acting and goes to her grandmother’s home in Sonoma Valley. This is where she sees a man she hasn’t talked to in 20 years, someone who brings lots of feelings back for her.

Cole Cooper was someone who played a big part in Faith’s teenage years. They were always together. While she was gone to Hollywood he would check in on her Grandmother and visit with her. He was a stuntman who has taken a break from the scene to run his ranch and winery.

Cole and Faith end up spending time together, she also meets someone important to Cole that really threw her off. When Cole and Faith find themselves being offered an opportunity to work on a film together, things get interesting from here.

My eyes must have been panicked because he leaned in and whispered, “I won’t let you fall.” Stupid man. It was too late for that. I’d fallen for him at the age of seventeen.

We get danger, teary eyed moments, steamy moments and unexpected twist and turns. I loved all of the secondary characters and would love to see more from some of them. I was very happy with the ending, although I was a little nervous thinking it wasn’t going the way I wanted it to. Overall I loved this book and am loving this series. Each book can be read as a standalone. 1-click and get started today.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blinded by Betrayal with Spin Drift is the opening to Lisette Kristensen’s Silent Secrets series and what an opening it was! Spin Drift is actually ‘a bridge’, connecting the first book with the second one and if that is what we have to expect, there will not be a dull moment!
We have Sloane Romano, a mafia princess, the daughter of the Boss, her husband is picked up by the authorities and because he starts singing like a canary, he signs his own and Sloane’s death warrant! Sloane, who has been living a privileged life has to decide who she can trust with her life … she leaves behind her life as a dutiful daughter and a wife, her mantra will become “you need to destroy the you everyone wanted you to be, to be the real you.”
Blinded by Betrayal is Sloane’s journey to discovering who the real Sloane is and once you join her on that journey, you will want to stick as close for as long as you can! (and picturing Ziva David while reading her story!)

My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Evolution: Awakening (Ash Kyndal, #1) Hope Anika was an engaging, interesting read, that had me hooked!

My first read by this author, and I have to say I’m going to be checking her other books. This book was well written, creative, suspenseful, intriguing, and as I have said, hooking. This book really brought me back to that urban fantasy that I use to read all the time. It was familiar as it was new, fresh and exciting. Wonderful characters, witty, fun, and just a joy to read about, mixed with a fast pace mystery plot, and some not so normal themes, and you got one hell of a read. The MC was a powerhouse, made this story the gem that it is. I am going to be following this series, cause I think it’s going places, and I want to be apart of that.

Overall if you haven’t guessed, this book gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.

I am really enjoying the “Druid’s Brooch” series and I am so glad each can be read as a stand-alone because I am reading them all wily nily out of order.

I leave for Ireland in 3 days and I will be sure and look for some of the landmarks that are mentioned in this intriguing series. Character development and storytelling is on point. The tales draw me in and don’t let me go until they are done.

This is a series I absolutely recommend.

Past Storm and Fire by Christy Nicholas – Review by Maura Harper

Past Storm and FirePast Storm and Fire by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve read and enjoyed this author’s “Druid’s Brooch” series so I blindly went into PAST STORM AND FIRE based on her name alone. I wasn’t sure that I could write anything about this book without writing spoilers so I went back and looked at the blurb. OHHHH NOW it makes sense.

This book is told in past and present tense, dream and reality, and has a story within the story. It’s a complex tale that at times I had a hard time following. The historical portion of the story appears to have been well researched. There are certain situations that are written in the story that serve as background for why the protagonist is the way she is. At times I liked her and other times I felt like she was just so passive in what she wanted. Then I would warm up to her again.

There is a common arch that ties all of the parts of the story together. It took me a little bit to get into the rhythm of it because I wasn’t quite sure what was going on. It has a very clear beginning, middle, and end and while it is not my favorite by this author, I did find it enjoyable.

Next Door Knight (Man’s Best Friend #2) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Emily Walsh

Next Door Knight (Man's Best Friend #2)Next Door Knight
By: Nicole Flockton
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Next Door Knight (Man’s Best Friend #2) by Nicole Flockton was a sweet rebuilding type romance, that not only pulls you in, it hooks you until the last page.

My first read by this author and in this series, I went in with a open mind and I fell easy into this light heart read. Now I will say that, I do have something about this book that rubbed me the wrong way, but overall this book is worth the read.

Willow and Caleb, stole the show for me. I want a Willow, I’ve never been a corgi type, but now thanks to Willow and her sassy powerhouse swag, I want one. Caleb, I related to him, as I am serving, and have been injured, it’s never easy when you’re in limbo not knowing if you can still do you job. Also as I have friends that are in limbo right now, I really got Caleb and what he was going through. He felt real to me, and his character growth and emotional growth was steady, and the true star of this book. In my option he was the True MC.

Kerry, Kerry….. my issues are with Kerry the female MC, and Willow’s mom. At first I got her, and what she was going through, but unlike Caleb, she didn’t grow, and it was almost like she went backwards. To be honest, there were red flags at the start, but I played it off as cracks from her past. But that’s the thing, as Caleb grow and came over his demons, she, didn’t. That made for a confusing second half and some infuriating moments. I don’t think she’s was a good fit, and even after that sweet ending, I still don’t care for her.

Overall this book is moving, sweet, and it has a powerful message about family, moving forward and rebuilding. This book gets my recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2) by Brandi Elledge – Review by Heather Bahm

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2)The Queen of Witches by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2) by Brandi Elledge is a paranormal romantic suspense. This story follows right on the edge, with a slight overlap, of the first book of the series – The Werewolf Queen. In The Queen of Witches, the author delivers more paranormal elements and the reappearance of several characters that were supporting in the previous book. Charlie is different, she knows it, but she doesn’t let it deter her from living her life in the way that she chooses. However, everything is about to shift for her as everything she thought she knew is about to explode.

Brandi Elledge keeps up the amazing character development in this second novel, along with introducing new elements. The story was fast paced, but not rushed. The right elements are added in the story to give it the depth needed, while maintaining the intensity of the story and drama that continues to unfold. A remarkable series with each story building expertly upon the previous story.

Heels Of Fortune (PJ Santini Series Book 2)Heels Of Fortune by Lynne Russell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heels of Fortune: PJ Santini Series: Book Two by Lynne Russell was an amazing read. I loved the first book, Hell on Heels, but Heels of Fortune is even better! It’s not often an author can exceed expectations of what they delivered with a first novel, but Lynne Russell has done that in spades!! The romantic suspense and mystery that unfolds in this novel was exquisitely thought out and portrayed. The sequences were not overdone and flowed seamlessly without effort. It worked in such a way that the words quickly fall off the pages into the readers mind to bring the story to life in a way that is magical in its own right.

PJ Santini is a strong character in this story/series and is still on the hunt for the truth. As we continue through this story with her, we follow with the emotional ride that shares many highs/lows and keeps providing those twists and turns. I cannot speak highly enough on how easy these stories are to read, but each book seems to exceed expectations which is a sign of a talented author!

North to Nara (Crimson Sash, #1)North to Nara by Amanda Marin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

North to Nara (Crimson Sash Book 1) by Amanda Marin is a dystopian novel. This was a captivating read with the excellent imagery of another world outside of reality. The level of detail with the society, the interactions, the characters and the events that occurred was on par and completely well done. Neve Hall was a fierce character with undeniable attributes that hold true to her beliefs and values; when those are tested, Neve’s life is subject to twist into another direction. Amanda Marin has outdone herself in this initial novel to the series, Crimson Sash, from the development of the story line to the main and supporting characters. The way the emotional waves are written, you can practically feel them dripping from the pages at times. This story held my attention and I looked forward to each new chapter to see where we were heading next. Well written, excellently delivered – a great story!!

Evolution: Awakening (An Ash Kyndal Novel) by Hope Anika – Review by Angela Hayes

Evolution: AwakeningEvolution: Awakening by Hope Anika
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“She’d grown up on the periphery of society; carnival midways and circus tents and endless miles of pavement. Her existence had only occasionally crossed paths with the “civilized” world, and faking her way through its twisted realities and conforming to its rigid definitions did not come naturally or easily. The necessity of bending made her angry, and as some part of her always seemed to be angry—courtesy of that aforementioned sociopathic father—she knew and understood how inherently difficult it was to be a part of the world.”

Evolution: Awakening is an Ash Kyndal Novel by Hope Anika. It is a fast-paced, action packed Sci-Fi story with plenty of drama, secrets, discoveries, hidden agendas, adventure, and intrigue. This is my first book by Ms. Anika, so I was curious about what I would find once I stated. The book certainly jumps into the action right off the bat, there was no slow build up, character introductions, or backstory slowly developing, because everything was done amidst the action. It was an intriguing way to start the book, and though a little unexpected and chaotic- I was interested in discovering where we were headed.

It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting, that’s for sure. The story had quite a lot of surprising developments that kept me wondering and guessing the whole way through.

The characters are well developed and dynamic individuals- if not a little quirky. There were ones I really liked right off the bat, like Ash and Ruslan, and there were characters I really wasn’t sure about- then as the story progressed, there were characters whom I really detested. But this just added to the intrigue of the overall storyline.

I got to the end and really didn’t know what to think, I am a little up in the air about it all, and have so many questions still. It looks set to continue in book #2, “Evolution: Brethren”, so I hope it will give me the answers I am looking for.

Thank you, Hope Anika!

These two were great. They both had demons to fight, and helped each other get comfortable enough to share.
And of course the star of the book, Willow. Ive always wanted a Corgi and this just cemented that want even more. What a tenacious dog. She had a calling and just did what her instincts were telling her to do.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Evolution: Awakening (An Ash Kyndal Novel) by Hope Anika was a wonderful book to read. It pulls you in right from the start and doesn’t let you go until you have finished the final page. It has thrilling and suspenseful moments that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There is mystery and a bit of romance as well. I enjoyed reading about the character of Ash Kyndal. She is strong-willed, independent, stubborn, and feisty. She has inherited her Uncle Charlie’s PI firm and finds it challenging to run to say the least. Her life becomes chaotic when a client goes missing and strange men start to show up. She tries to unlock the answers to the many questions raised by unexpected situations her and the firm’s staff face. Will Ash find the answers to the questions that keep multiplying? How much danger is she in? What does the future hold for Ash and those she works with? Read this book to find out. I also enjoyed reading about the mysterious Russian who has appeared on her doorstep. Ash feels a connection to him. There are many other additional characters. There are those who help and work for Ash. Then there are those who have their own agenda and will do all that they must to succeed. The story at times had an atmosphere and also dialogue that was intense. They mystery in the storyline had me feeling like I was trying to put together a puzzle. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story. Highly recommended.

I give Heels of Fortune: PJ Santini Series: Book Two by Lynne Russell, 5 stars.

PJ is back! On the heels of her previous adventure, she gets a phone call that is strange and worrisome. She is threatened and she doesn’t even understand why! Turns out that it may have to do with her deceased husband. But he was a good man, wasn’t he? Well, she may be wrong, and now her life is in danger. Can PJ, along with the help of her friends and family, get to the bottom of this? Without any more deaths?

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to see what the next one offered. Well this book is just as good as the first, if not better. There is everything you could wish for — murders, suspense, love of food and men, humor. PJ’s crazy family and her friends are all back for this adventure, too. The quirky characters are what really make these books so unforgettable. Then there is the story itself; people dying, a mysterious stranger threatening PJ. You will be kept guessing at what exactly is going on until the end.

If you are looking for a mystery with crazy Italian family, a main character obsessed with food, shoes, and men, and strange things going on, this book is definitely for you.

As with the first story, it took a little bit for me to get into this book. The writing style takes a little getting used to. I also found that the extraneous side stories were a little distracting. Overall, I liked this book better than the first one. I felt like this book had more action that kept things a bit more interesting. The best character in this book is Nonna Giovanna. I laughed out loud at the part where they are describing her and the burglar. I also like the direction things are going with Daly; but of course, he’s my favorite over Renza.

Do you have an inquiring mind and need answers to stuff? Or don’t mind reading late into the night? Then This is for you and You need to one-click this baby! After reading the synopsis I found this intriguing. A former circus person who now has a PI business? Hmmmm sounds different. The beginning starts out in the middle of a situation and I was worried I missed a page. But don’t fret and DON’T stop reading. You will find out answers to those questions soon but other questions will arise.

These characters are amazing! Wait until you meet the Russian! Aloof is his middle name..along with stubborn. Haha! The sexual tension between him and Ashling is to die for! Ashling (I love her name!) is very impressive and I can only wonder at all the secret talents she is hiding. Wylie has become quite the character as the story moves forward. He seemed lowly at first but he really steps up his game.

This is a suspenseful tale that I could not keep my mitts off of for very long. It is quite a large book and I think I read it in 2 days. It is full of action, suspense, betrayal, secrets along with some really wonderful characters! The storyline was good. It it drove me crazy! It bops back and forth between a couple characters and the situations they are in. So just when it was getting interesting with one of them..BAM it would flit over to the other characters and catch you up on what they are doing. That is brilliant planning on the authors part but it makes me go “Wha??”. Then I have to keep reading (which could be late into the night). 🙂 But on a good note It really keeps the reader engaged. I really look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from cover to cover. The story is well written and creative. I was pulled in right from the beginning and felt as if I was right there in the story. Characters bring twists and turns that will keep you turning pages. Ash inherits her uncle’s PI business but she doesn’t want it. With others depending on her she gives it a try. What will happen when she finds herself in a battle of survival? I highly recommend this book.
