My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. It is a well written, fast paced story that left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. The characters pop off the pages as well as keep the story flowing. They are dark, bruised characters with chemistry and passion that is off the charts. Dax’s hunting leads him to Cindel this is where the action starts and continues to the end. As things spin out of control, are they strong enough to survive? Their story is a must read.

An Unexpected Sequel (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 4) by Heather Silvio – Review by Naomi McDonald

An Unexpected Sequel (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 4)An Unexpected Sequel by Heather Silvio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Sequel is the fourth book in the Paranormal Talent Agency series.

In this story, we finally get to know Robin. She is mentioned in previous books but you don’t really get to know her or her backstory until this book. Up until now Robin has been portrayed as a character with shady intentions, but things aren’t always what they seem. When Robin finds love, her deal with a demon threatens the budding romance. Faced with danger, not only to herself but to her love, Robin has to swallow her pride and ask for help from Catherine. In the course of the adventure, Robin re-discovers something she thought she lost.

This book doesn’t have as much humor as the previous books do, but it is still excellent. ? I am looking forward to the next part of the adventure. After all, we still have to figure out what Barbara is up to.

This is such a sweet book, it teaches that no matter if your different from everyone else, that is okay. Being unique is beautiful. I also like at the end the list of people or authority figures that you can teach your children to be thankful for.

Salty Sebastian (Smirk Series Book 3)Salty Sebastian by Jen Luerssen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Salty Sebastian by Jen Luerssen a four-star read that will add a little sugar to your life. This is number three in the smirk series, they could be read as stand-alone, but they do have characters popping up in each other’s stories, but they interact in a great way that doesn’t spoil it. This is one of those laugh out loud stories and you will giggle like a loon when you read it. That being said its not just funny, its romantic as well, Kit and Sebastian will pull you in and take you on a trip to Vegas and then going all over again.

Jake the Growling Dog: A Children’s Book about the Power of Kindness, Celebrating Diversity, and Friendship
Written by Samantha Shannon
4 out of 5 stars

I read this book with my almost 3 year old daughter this morning and I am looking forward to reading it with my son a bit later when he wakes up as I feel like the book and the additional pages after about kindness and encouraging empathy will really lead to a great discussion with him.
That being said, my daughter and I enjoyed this book. It kept her attention throughout the whole story and she really enjoyed pointing out the animal friends that Jake encounters along the tale. When asked at the end of the story her favorite part, she excitedly exclaimed, “Jake!”
Since this is a children’s book and I was reading the words out loud I did have some parts of the book that didn’t seem to flow correctly, I think I became accustomed to pages that rhymed and if there was a segment that didn’t, the flow felt awkward. Regardless, this isn’t something that would impact the book for a child. It was a story with a great message and I’m sure we will be reading it several more times in our household.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant. This book had me all in my feelings. From page one I felt a connection with both main characters Layla and Kellan. Each of them having their own stories to be told while fate steps in and mixes things up a bit. Layla’s character is by far my favorite I’ve read this year, she’s strong yet knows when to not pretend. Kellan is simply swoon worthy and I think every woman could use a bit of him in their partner. The author does a wonderful job of writing about subjects that in this day are hard to deal with but I truly loved the way this story took place. I was only sad when it ended. It’s well written and paced nicely, told in both main characters POV which is honestly my favorite. I’m giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone.

Salty Sebastian is book three in the Smirk Series by Jen Luerssen. Just reading the blurb was hilarious and I had to read this story asap. I haven’t been so excited to get to know a character in a long time. I knew Sebastian would be the ultimate in reading pleasure. And i wasn’t wrong.

Jen Luerssen spun a riveting tale. A delicious tale. An unputdownable tale. An unforgettable tale. From the first word to the last, I was hooked. Salty Sebastian had it all and I loved it all. The characters were varied and delightful. The essence of the story was sublime. A top quality story that was easy to read and was blissfully entertaining. 5 stars.

Though I was always an ardent reader, I was convinced I couldn’t string sentences together if my life depended on it. Fortunately for me, when I was looking for something creative I could do from bed—if my mystery illness progressed to that point—I decided to try my hand at it. No pressure, no expectations. I didn’t tell anyone what I was up to. I just wanted to see if I could string sentences together and tell an interesting story.

I remembered a quote by Hemingway, “Write about what you know.” With this mandate, I chose a topic I knew well, the time spent living with my husband in the French Quarter of New Orleans. I typed out my first two paragraphs on my forty-third birthday. I finished that book on my next birthday, and started my second the same day.

As my still-nameless illness progressed, I continued running the family business and continued to write. Nine years after my symptoms began, I finally received a correct diagnosis: Lyme disease, and more specifically, late-stage Lyme, because it had been allowed to progress untreated for so long.

Though the pain was almost unendurable, I clung to my writing like a life preserver. It allowed me to crawl up inside my head, out of my body, giving me brief respites from the vast array of pains.

Though I would never wish this disease on anyone, I can honestly say I am grateful for the path my life took, for it gave me the gift of writing. I now have nine published books, all of which have special significance for me. I write general fiction, mysteries and some nonfiction.

Once Upon a Lyme: The Tale of Two Journeys, is the detailed account of the path my mystery illness led me down as I sought help from over two-dozen doctors, and the gift of writing that was the unexpected upside of being so hopeless ill.

Finding Ruth was inspired by a previously unseen photograph of my mother when she was nineteen. I found it as I was going through her things prior to her move into a skilled nursing hospital. That gorgeous photograph of her looking so happy and full of promise made me realize how little I knew about her life before I came along. Because Alzheimer’s has taken away all her memories, I painstakingly reconstructed her life from public records, thousands of photographs, and what my brother, sister and I could remember. The message in the tribute to my mom is Ask while you have the chance.

As of this writing, I have just completed the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. I’m still in love with writing and I still squeal with joy to think that I’ve written eleven books and self-published nine of them. If there is a message in this, it’s Never discount what you are capable of achieving.

Mid-Season Premiere of the Paranormal Talent Agency
Five years ago, a desperate witch made a pact with a demon. Now Robin Landon, the owner of Landon Talent Agency, splits her time between managing the actors she represents and laboring as a demon’s minion.

When Robin refuses the demon’s order to kill Jackson McKee, a witch with a day job as a camera operator, she must balance her growing feelings for the intended target and evading the vengeful demon’s wrath.

Out of options, Robin turns to her former nemeses with the Paranormal Talent Agency. Will their daring plan save Jackson from the demon, or will Robin lose both her chance at love and her life?

This is the fourth book in the Paranormal Talent Agency series. Much like on television, each episode contains a complete sweet paranormal romance and supernatural murder mystery. But the crossover characters and hints of a larger story suggest reading these in order.

A beautiful American spy flees into the night. On her own, she must live by her wits to evade capture and make it to the safety of the Allied forces.

Lily Saint James grew up traveling the European continent, learning languages as she went. In 1938, her mother’s abrupt death brings her back home to Washington, D.C., and after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Lily comes to the attention of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Her knowledge of German, French, and Italian makes her the perfect OSS Agent, and her quick thinking places her as a nanny in the household of an important German Army Colonel, where she is able to gather intelligence for the Allies. After her marketplace contact goes missing, she makes a late-night trip to her secondary contact only to find him under interrogation by the SS. When he commits suicide, she flees into the frigid winter night carrying false identification papers that are now dangerous and a mini film cartridge with vital strategic information. In order to survive, Lily must make it out of Germany, into the hands of Allied-controlled France, through a path fraught with peril.

This award-winning novel reveals the extreme dangers WWII agents faced when Lily St. James, the heroine of The Brass Compass, parachutes behind enemy lines, destroys rail lines, and infiltrates a high-ranking Nazi household. The Brass Compass is the latest story to celebrate the uncompromising intelligence and composure displayed by real operatives. From Greta Garbo in the film “Mata Hari” to Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale, audiences will be riveted by the tough-and-tender ways women approach espionage and how these fictions reflect reality.

Jake the Growling Dog (Jake the Growling Dog Book 1) by Samantha Shannon – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Jake the Growling DogJake the Growling Dog by Samantha Shannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jake the Growling Dog was a cute story by Samantha Shannon. It is about a dog named Jake who is trying to make friends, but everyone is afraid of him. He has a hard time communicating himself, and often growls. But his growl doesn’t mean he is scared, mean or dangerous. He growls when he is happy, excited, and wanting to play. It seems no one wants to play with him, until Neet, the squirrel. Neet understands, and tries to show others that Jake is friendly. They work on his nice voice and eventually the other animals and kids start playing with him. That makes Jake happy, and feel loved. I love the message behind this book. The end explains how kids can be like Neet, and be friendly to others. Accept others, even when they are different, or new. There is also a suggested activity on how to spread kindness. This is a very short cute book, with a powerful message. I think it would be enjoyable to elementary school aged children. It would be a great book to read as a family, and practice spreading kindness and love.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jake the Growling Dog by Samantha Shannon is the first book in the Jake the Growling Dog series. This is a story about Jake who tends to growl. He scares the others away but it is not because he is mean but because he has a growl. A squirrel, Neet, helps him tame the growl down some and this allows others to see that he is an ok type of dog. The story is sweet and teaches children that we are all different. We need to be accepting of each other’s differences.
I look forward to sharing this sweet story with the children in my life and help them to understand an important lesson.

What an absolutely amazing book. I didn’t know what was coming next and it kept me hooked from beginning to end. I need more!
This was unlike any MC book I’ve ever read in the way that it didn’t really focus on the inner workings of the MC itself but other parts on the outside. I cant give more away or it’ll ruin the book.
I want a Tracker, perfect MC man but also perfect book boyfriend material. And Kerri, what a strong woman to go through what she has.

I cannot wait to dove into the rest of this series as im sure it’ll be a wild ride!

The illustrations with the book are so simple and amazing. At the end of the book there is some wonderful activities to do with the little one reading the book with you. My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Secure Again: A Chase Group Story by R. L. Dunn was a fast pace, action packed read that had me hooked from start to finish.

Not my first read from this author or in this series, so I was excited to get my hands on this read. Wow, this book hit the ground running, and like the other book in this series it was complex, action packed and super entertaining. I love all the characters, but the MC’s stole the show for me. Elizabeth, strong, sexy, smart. and kickass, she was a powerhouse with a heart of gold. That heart is what gets her into hot water, that could cause her life. Martin was great, not to alphsish, strong, sassy and just a joy to read about. I loved their interactions and the way their second chance romance got under way, even if it was due to unsavory circumstances. The plot was complex, solid and it gets your blood going, and the nerves on high alert. This book has a little bit of everything and it’s a hard must read form me.

To end this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval

Happy Reading

By: Cynthia Hamilton
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Spouse Trap (Madeline Dawkins #1) by Cynthia Hamilton was an engaging, thrilling read that gets the brain working and the blood flowing.

My first read by this author I went in with an open mind and just fell into this story. I was a little skeptical at first, because I have read stories like this before, but my worries were soon squished the second I started reading this gem. It was a different kind of mystery, and it had those crime drama feels that just pulls you in. I loved how the author sets you up, weaving the puzzles pieces, and making you wonder who is right, wrong, and who is playing who. I was hooked hard, and the strong MC ties all the elements together making an already strong plot, concrete. There are somethings that I’m a little hung up on, but I think that it was meant to be that way, so we’ll keep coming back for more.

Overall this book is a must read and it gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading.

I give Jake the Growling Dog: A Children’s Book about the Power of Kindness, Celebrating Diversity, and Friendship by Samantha Shannon, 5 stars.

Jake is a kind, fun dog but doesn’t have any friends. He’s different than other dogs. Can others understand and accept his differences or is he always going to be alone? Maybe there are others out there who understand…

This is a wonderful children’s book showing how others can be different, but should be accepted too. The images are fun and go along well with the story and the story itself is fun while also teaching children a lesson. Jake is a great main character and would love to see him in other books.

I think the author did a very good job with this book and highly recommend this for young children.

If you love adult supernatural fantasy, then this book is definitely for you! Chloe moves into a remote area of Washington state with her new husband Jeff and is greeted by a very handsome mysterious neighbour Zander. Some years later, Zander and his family help Chloe and her daughter Lilly in their time of need, and she learns a lot more about their supernatural family. Zander is a fallen angel who has sworn to protect his family, but will his attraction to Chloe get in the way?
A fab book with lots of twists and turns. I liked the world building and the different supernaturals and the descriptions of their worlds – Especially Heaven. I thought Zander sounded fabulous and Chloe was a strong and capable woman who had been beaten down by life and needed another chance to shine. Fab message and great storyline. I am thrilled to discover there are more books in this series.

Spouse Trap (Madeline Dawkins, #1)Spouse Trap by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spouse Trap: A Madeline Dawkins Mystery (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 1) by Cynthia Hamilton is a five star novel. I loved the way this story unfolded and how much suspense I found. This is my first novel by this author, but I cannot wait for the rest of this series to happen. Madeline has the perfect life until her husband gets his hands on some photos of her cheating on him. However, it is very unusual for a spouse to genuinely not have any recollection of their supposed infidelity, even if there is evidence to back this up. Of course, many spouses would absolutely love to have some evidence of their partner cheating to back up their constant suspicions. This is why many spouses have taken it upon themselves to hire Family private investigators that get to the bottom of these cases, leaving no stone unturned. When dealing with an extra secretive cheater, this may be the only option to get the absolute truth out in the open. By using special investigative tactics, a P.I can help you achieve true peace of mind, whether your partner is guilty or innocent of infidelity. She has no idea how this happened and wants to get to the bottom of it. She doesn’t even remember what happened that night. How could she not remember? She remembers everything…except this night.
