I give Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.
What I like so much about this series is it’s unpredictability. Sure it’s a paranormal romance with humor and some suspense involved and there has been plenty fof that. But the author throws in things that you don’t see in this genre and makes you stop and think. This is exciting to me. Not to mention how good the book is in and of itself. The characters are well done and you really feel for each of them. You root for them the whole time. You think the story is headed in one direction, but then it makes a quick left and you are stunned, but have to see where it leads.
It is fun, quirky, and sexy all in one. If you like your paranormal romance with fun, sexiness and hot characters, this book is for you. It can be read as a standalone in my opinion, but I recommend book one too since it is so good.

This was a nice short read. The romance and steam was there but I wish there was more story and background. This could have made for a nice novel but the story was still nice for the length it was. The way the book ended and how the title says Book 1, I am hopeful this will be a nice mini series. I feel terrible that Mrs. Clarke is forced to put up with not being satisfied by her husband and the frustration she feels, so when Hugh comes into the picture, I am happy she can finally start to find herself again. It really seems like Hugh, her son’s best friend, really is in love with her and I think there will be a lot of heartache and love coming from it. Again, a really nice short read, I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) By Gaia B. Amman 5 out of 5 stars
The story Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman is a book that I enjoyed reading. It is a story that had me interested right from the start and I found myself not wanting to put it down. It is the story of Leda. It is the 1990’s in Italy. Leda is in high school and like other teenage girls has thoughts about boys and if she should hold off until marriage. Leda has so many thoughts and emotions going on in her head. What does the future hold for her? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down with Leda’s. I like Leda and you can’t help but want her to be happy. Teenage years can be very tough and when hormones and emotions are involved life can become complicated. I also enjoyed many of the additional characters that interact with Leda. Some are true friends to her and then others that make me wonder what they are truly about. The story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with Leda. Heartbreaking moments, confusion, and honesty are all part of this tale. It is a book I would recommend reading.

5-Stars
Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen was a romantic and fun read. I didn’t plan on finishing this book in one sitting but it happened. I literally couldn’t stop reading. I was caught up in everything going on with Trace and Sophie. This was a great romantic comedy with an occasional steamy scene. I loved the characters and how the different supernatural beings interacted. This is easily becoming my favorite series by this author. I can’t wait to read what comes next.

Lucifer’s Emblem: A Paranormal Academy Novel (Celestial Academy Book 1) By Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the story Lucifer’s Emblem: A Paranormal Academy Novel (Celestial Academy Book 1) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk. It is a book that is entertaining and hard to put down once I had started reading it. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Zuri and Miryam. Zuri is trying to recover a stolen relic. Zuri is someone who is independent and takes chances. She finds herself at the Celestial Academy and meets Miryam. Miryam is the daughter of the Archangel Michael. She is a girl who wants attention and can be needy. There is bad blood between Fallen and Archangels. Can Zuri and Miryam work together to find out the true motives of the thief and get the relic back? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has action and danger. I enjoyed reading the bantering that goes back and forth between Zuri, Miryam, and the other characters that are introduced in the book. The authors have done a wonderful job in world-building. This is a book that had me wondering what was going to happen next and how it all would end. I highly recommend reading it.

Bargaining (Hero High Book 3) By Mina Chara 5 out of 5 stars
The story Bargaining (Hero High Book 3) by Mina Chara is the next exciting story in a wonderful series. It pulled me in, and I found myself lost in the storyline. I loved reading about the main character of Friday Fitzsimmons. The tale has action, danger, and even a bit of romance. The story is written in such a way that I feel like I am right there with Friday and the other characters in the book. This story has some twists that I did not see coming and I was turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. This is a fast-paced story that you will not want to put down. I enjoyed reading about the many different characters and how they all interact. There are some that I wondered about them and if they had ulterior motives. This is a book that is entertaining and addictive. I would highly recommend reading it.

Southern Promises: The Complete Series (A Contemporary Romance Stand-alone Box Set) by K.G. Fletcher 4 Stars
This is an amazing series filled with love and romance that will pull at your heartstrings. Each book has characters that you will fall in love with. The author has a way of pulling you into her world and playing with your emotions. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but they are so good that I suggest that you read them all.
Georgia Clay: Clay Watkins is a true southern gentleman with a heart of gold that will take your breath away. Katie Parker was his high school crush. After bumping into each other at a reunion, feelings are reignited. Long distance relationships hardly ever work and each have demanding careers. Can they overcome their issues and have a happily ever after?
Georgia on my Mind: The story centres around Katie’s brother Hart. He was a real estate broker who got caught quite literally with his pants down. He meets Gia while she doing a Marilyn Monroe impersonation. Can they overcome the secrets of their past and learn to dance together?
Georgia Pine: Definitely my favourite of the three. Jessica never thought she would be divorced and raising her four daughters on her own. While having a meltdown, a white knight waltzed in to save her in the form of her gardener. Tim is hiding under his mane and beard, he even changed his name. Falling in love with Jessica was not part of his plan. Will she still love him after she finds out about his past?

Releasing Her Power Within: Fae Shifters Book One by Madilynn Dale is her debut novel and is a paranormal fantasy story. I love great paranormal fantasy stories. It is what got me in to reading and is my favourite genre and have been reading it for many, many years. I found it hard to connect fully with the story in the beginning. When the story was told in Cam’s POV it improved and I had hope, but after that chapter it was only a little better. The premise is great, and I liked the characters, but I felt there was a lot of detail that did not need to be there. I found myself skipping over a lot of the details prior to Cam’s chapter, so the story did not flow as easily as it could have. I also felt that a little more could have been explored in the shifter side of things and the romance as it all felt a little rushed and accepted by our female lead. I look forward to the next book as I feel the story is about to explode but hope that it is not once again bogged down with unnecessary detail. As I said this is Madilynn’s debut novel and I hope she accepts my thoughts to help her further hone her writing skills.

Rise (The Larussio Legacy Book 2) by Via Mari is another great story in the series and offshoot from the original series. There is plenty to get you lost in the story, with a little mystery and suspense, action and danger and humour. There is a lot of hot and steamy and oh so sexy romance. Via’s writing style makes it easy to read and pulls at you. The characters Gio and Serena from the first book are an ideal pair and you continue to love them. Gio is an alpha and in line to be head of the Italian mafia and Serena must learn to live with trouble with a capital T. I love how all the characters intertwine. The twists and turns you don’t expect, and the suspense add that little bit more of excitement. I was so engrossed in the story that I found myself on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Stage Mom is the sixth book in the ‘Romance in Rehoboth’ series by K.L Montgomery. It was such a great read, and definitely one of my favourites that Ms. Montgomery has written. It has just the right amount of drama and tension to really keep things interesting. This is a superb contemporary romance with a really well written and touching storyline. It’s definitely memorable- one I won’t soon forget. Larissa is a single mother with a special needs daughter who is participating in the Little Miss Rehoboth pageant. Larissa is determined to ensure that her daughter is treated just like all the other children in the pageant. Mateo is the new director, his family have been running the pageant for many years, but this is the first time that Mateo has been trusted to oversee the whole thing himself. He has a lot riding on this. With some radical ideas for improving the show, he’s determined to make this the best show ever- but not everyone likes change. The chemistry between the two starts to sizzle as these two try to hide their attraction. Getting involved will only complicate things even more. Won’t it? Such a great story!!! As I have said so many times before, I love all Ms. Montgomery’s stories- she really is a gifted storyteller who is easily able to pull readers into her stories- keeping them invested, connected, and engrossed every step of the way. I love how her stories depicts characters who are entirely realistic, relatable, and endearing. Another great addition to the series!

Everything’s going wrong. My friendship with Jake is falling apart, Dr.Dangerous isn’t who I thought he was. People are putting themselves in danger and I don’t know what to do. Every move I make to uncover the truth is defeated by forces I can’t even see.
I joined the gold team, the producers even like me now, but it feels like I’ve abandoned everything that makes a good hero, in order to be a good hero.
Despite it all, Captain Fantastic still believes in me, and I can’t figure out why.
But I won’t give up.

Wedding War is the fifth book in the ‘Romance in Rehoboth’ series by K.L Montgomery. You don’t have to have read the other books in this series to be able to enjoy this one. But, I do recommend reading them anyway- because they are really wonderful stories and well worth the read, too! Jason Friday`s family operates a local business catering to grooms. They are the sworn enemies of Hannah Robinson’s family- who owns the local Bridal shop. The feud has been on-going, but what happens when a wedding one stop shop chain store sets up in town? These two will need to come together to take on the big business, and find a way to work together to save both their family businesses. What happens here makes for a funny and very romantic story! Definitely one of my favourites of the series, so far!

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale is by Danielle Ackley-McPhail and Day Al-Mohamed. It is an intriguing steampunk fantasy, with plenty of action, adventure, danger, heartache, clockwork ‘technology’, mystery magic, and more. It’s a clever retelling of the classic story “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. As this is my first book from either of these authors, I really didn’t know what I would find between the covers of this interesting looking book. What I discovered is a wonderful blend of faerie tale, steampunk, magic, and mystery. There is plenty of dramatic developments which kept me avidly reading- I enjoyed the authors take on the classic story. The story was a little slow in places, but overall, it kept me engaged and interested in how everything would play out. I will be going back to investigate what other titles these two authors have available, and look forward to exploring more of their books in the future.
Thank you, Danielle Ackley-McPhail & Day Al-Mohamed.

I am quickly starting to love Mina Chara’s series Hero High, but the cliffhanger endings are killing me. Just finished book 2 Anger, and am anxiously awaiting reading book 3. This book is very short, and I read it in 1 night. While I highly recommend this series, I think you should just wait and read them all at once, because the ending is a terrible place to stop the book. It’s right in the peak of the action. This story continues Friday’s life at Hero High, and picks up where book 1 left off. There isn’t a lot I can tell you without possible spoiler alerts… Friday comes in contact with the new Dr. Dangerous again, and things escalate quickly. She is still looking up to her mentor Sense. And the weird love/hate relationship between Friday and Ashley continues. Bring on book 3!

Forbidden Desire (Confessions of a Trophy Wife #1) by L.M. Mountford was a steamy 4 star read.
Elizabeth is in a marriage that has diminished the last few years. She doesn’t feel the love and romance that was once there. Her husband is always gone for work and now her son has gone off to college. She has the whole house to herself and she is extremely lonely.
When she goes to her best friends house she ends up seeing Hugh. Hugh is not only her best friend’s son but her son’s best friend. You can feel their connection as soon as she walks in the house. They have a steamy moment, however she rushes off. Hugh is not letting her get away that easily and shows up at her house. Will Elizabeth push him away again?
Overall this was a quick read with lots of steamy moments. I rated it a four because it felt rushed in some areas. I also would have liked to have gotten a little more to the story. There is a little twist that threw me off and I had to reread that piece. Note, if you don’t like cheating this isn’t the book for you. If you like hot and steamy (melt your kindle) then you will want to 1-click. I read this in a couple of hours. I look forward to reading more from this author and series.

This is a debut novel?! I’m blown away. This author did a brilliant job all the way around. The story was engaging, the writing style easy. I became engrossed so quickly that i finished it in one sitting. I found the characters to be extremely well developed with distinct voices. The setting was so vividly described that I felt like I was there. From start to finish, just a fantastic book. I cannot wait to continue reading more from this author. If you love a paranormal fantasy with a tale not told a million times before, you need to pick this book up immediately.

I love revisiting familiar tales and this book did not disappoint. I was intrigued from the summary and knew I would enjoy the steampunk twist. The book did not disappoint. Rich in detail, vivid imagery, parallels to a beloved tale, but a classic in its own right – Baba Ali is a must read for steampunk lovers, fairy tale lovers, and those just looking for a story rich in exotic flavor. You will savor every page! (I most definitely did!)

This was my first book by this author and I’ll be looking for more from her! Katie gets reunited with Clay at their high school reunion. When she learns he’s a big songwriter, she’s not surprised as he was talented in school. As they spend the weekend together, they fall very hard and fast, but long distance isn’t what they’re looking for. Can they make it work? What happens when Clays dreams come true more?

This is book 2 of this series, and while it is about a different couple, id still read the first book since it’s an amazing book as well. This book follows Hartford, or Hart, and Gia. I really liked these two, both going through so much and still finding each other. Hart is trying to get his feet back after a horrible turn of events at his previous job. When he meets Gia, theyre both hiding their weakness from each other . Gia works one job in the day and a different at night, and she’s hiding her living arrangements from everyone. I cant go into them anymore as it will ruin their story, but I highly recommend this book! Cant wait for book 3!
Georgia Pine (Southern Promises book 3) by KG Fletcher 5 stars
This, to me, was the best book of the series. I absolutely fell in love with Tim and Jessica and the little girls were an added bonus!
Tim is a gardener for the upper class in town, but he has a secret. He’s in hiding from his former life. And he doesn’t expect a family of women to bring him to his knees. Jessica is learning how to live after a divorce where she wasn’t a wife but more arm candy, and her husband strayed. Can these two unlikely people come together to be stronger than they have ever been?

Anger (Hero High Book 2) by Mina Chara is a wonderful continuation of the Hero High series. The plot thickens and Friday has to figure out who her friends are. Nothing is as it appears and it’s all being televised. I enjoyed the young adult read and the hero universe. I can see this being a popular read for younger teens.

Rise is the second book in The Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. This book hooked me from the very first page, like most of the other books in the universe. This book is full of action and suspense. Gio and Serena have great chemistry. I love how Ms. Mari keeps expanding the Larussio world. There are many characters that recur from previous books and it’s like hearing from an old friend. If you love action and adventure anda Mafia thrown in, then this is the series for you. I highly recommend you read this series in order, and also the other books in Via Mari’s universe. They definitely won’t disappoint.

Stage Mom (Romance in Rehoboth Book 6) is the sixth book in the series and is a sweet read. It is wonderful and unexpected. I laughed and cried and it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours reading. I absolutely love this book and the characters were delightful. KL has done it again in spectacular fashion.

There is something about a brother’s best-friend romance that I love to read…and this story was great one. Becker and Asher have been friends for years. They graduated, went off to college, and came back home to wait to see where they would go for work. Blair is Becker’s younger sister. As long as Becker and Asher have been friends, Blair and Asher have been the thorn in each other’s sides. Whether they are making fun of each other or picking on each other, they always seem to more enemies than friends. However, one night, everything in Blair’s life changes in an instant…including the way she sees her relationship with Asher. As the story progresses, Asher and Blair must figure out what they mean to each and what that means for everyone around them. There are so many other relationships going on in this story that (I hope) will someday get a book of their own. This story is so real feeling. The things that Blair and the gang go through break them down while making them stronger. I found myself easily sucked into the story and didn’t come up for air until it was finished. Such a great story!

Wedding War (Romance in Rehoboth Book 5) is the fifth book in the series and such a joy. It is crazy and wonderful and unexpected. How KL comes up with the ideas she does I would love to know. Because if it is based on anything real then I need to know. I laughed until I cried and it was just what I needed to escape reality. I absolutely love the band of friends who are more than happy to help out with any wild and crazy things needed when helping friends in need. It is almost a slap stick at it’s best.

Shift Happens is the second book in Carrie Pulkinen’s New Orleans Nocturnes series and this time we are hanging out with witches and werewolves! You can read it as a standalone but why would you not start with book one if you love New Orleans and paranormal romantic comedy AND the heroine is Shift Happens heroine’s friend! Shift Happens picks up where License to Bite left off. Jane’s friend Sophie is in trouble and she is not very competent as a witch. She gets accidentally bitten by Trace Thibodeaux, a smoking hot werewolf who is investigating Sophie as his pack has been cursed and guess who is the suspect … right, Sophie … I promise you that you will laugh a lot – Sophie has a mouth on her and she lets it fly! Trace is an alpha and hot as sin and their chemistry is through the roof! I would not mind being investigated by Trace either if this is how he does it! Shift Happens is a quick read that leaves you reaching for the next one in the series!

Rise is the second book in The Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. This book was full of romance and suspense. Giovanni Larussio is the don of a powerful family in Italy and he is getting ready to run the largest casino in Vegas. On a trip back to Italy his world is rocked. Serena Moretti’s family had suffered for years at the hands of Gio’s cousins, but he has since made that right because of his relationship with her. Bad things happen to her and her family because of her ties with Gio. He will do anything to protect her but can his ultimate enemies get the best of him? Will Serena’s family ever understand her wanting to be with Gio and not see it as betrayal? This book was full of suspense from the beginning, the author did a magnificent job roping me in from the very beginning. I liked the suspenseful and thrill side of this story, but I also loved the sexy side of Gio and Serena. Their relationship is steamy and hot, I couldn’t get enough of them. I’m officially hooked on this series.

All The Wrong Reasons by Erin Bevan is a Serendipity Falls novel. This is a brilliant novel with entertaining characters and such a well written story line. I could not help but be drawn in to Max and Alex’s lives. I love a friends to lovers story, I love seeing the relationships progress into so much more. This is one example where are an author has done it so well. I was captivated by the story and these characters were just so engaging. This is a new author to me but I loved how she moved the story along. The book has a great flow which takes you along with it. I found myself getting utterly lost in this story. This was a brilliant book and I am looking forward to exploring more of this authors work.
The author had me gripped from page one with this novel, which is book four in Sims’s ‘Moore Family Saga’ series. I read this as a standalone story and thoroughly enjoyed it but I would personally recommend reading this series in order as the characters have all been introduced in previous books and you would appreciate the story better. Having said that I adored the fascinating characters especially the two main characters Bella Wahlberg and her fiancé and soon to be husband, performer extraordinaire and music mogul, Miles “Ari” Moore. I loved the relationship the two had and how they have to overcome the many obstacles throughout this novel and their steamy chemistry sizzled off the page. This was a romance with added drama and a background of spectacular scenery, from Miles and Bella’s wedding in Scotland, to their honeymoon in Paris and then Italy. I look forward to reading the previous books in the series and any future ones.
