Releasing Her Power Within is the first book in the Fae Shifters series and debut novel by Madilynn Dale. The series name is what drew me to this book, as the idea of Fae Shifters really intrigued me. This is an original paranormal fantasy with discoveries, danger, new beginnings, and romance.
Little did Liz know, but inheriting her grandmothers’ old cabin, after her mother dies, will change her life as she knows it. Her world is about to get seriously crazy- in ways she could have never imagined. Liz’s adventure is just beginning….and we get to tag along for the ride.
I thought the concept of the story was really unique and held so much potential. I was excited to explore the world that Ms. Dale has lovingly created. But unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into the story, even though I really wanted to love it so badly. It is my favourite genre- so I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t connect to the story or the characters the way I had hoped to. It has all the ingredients needed to make it an intriguing read- but my heart just wasn’t in it. I am shouldering the blame for that- as others will probably thoroughly enjoy this story and give it 5 Stars- so I will revisit this book in a few weeks and see if I still feel the same way, or I might discover that I just had an “off” reading day. So stay posted. I will also read the second book when it releases, because I am intrigued as to where the story is headed.
