Dylan Hart is a journalist. She decides to write a book to pay off her student loans. There is a serial killer on the loose. All his victims were left bloodless as if a vampire killed them. There is no better fodder for her book than this. While chasing down clues and doing research, she puts herself in the killer’s sights. Dylan has to fight for her life while trying to figure out who the killer is. Who can she trust when everyone is a suspect?

I really liked Dylan as a character. She was a no nonsense, down to earth kind of girl who had normal insecurities and self confidence issues. Being on the bigger side, she has never had the “hot guy” after her. Now that Cyrus is interested in her, can she trust him? I didn’t like Tatum. I almost wished she was one of the victims. I know that’s mean but the way she treated Dylan is not the way you should be treating your best friend.

The story introduces you to the underground culture of vampirism; the clubs, cults and people who believe themselves to be vampires. This is not your typical vampire novel. The author never confirms that any of the characters are vampires leaving you constantly guessing. You are forever walking the line between believing they really are or that they are nut jobs who think they are. Though at times I found the book a little long, it was well written and the storyline kept me interested. I’m looking forward to reading book two to see what other trouble Dylan can get into.
