Alamir is the first book in the Blood of Kaos Series by Nesa Miller. This is an exciting read and focuses on the character of Etain. She is an interesting character who is having to decide if the fairy tales she grew up on are real or fiction. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. This is a pretty fast paced story built in a fantasy world. I enjoyed the characters and story as well as the world building. Overall, this is an interesting start to a series. It introduced a lot of characters, and I am curious where the story will go next. I like the conflict and the struggle Etain goes through which I think helps make her a believable character. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie 4 Stars
This is a prequel novella to The Rise of House Valdis. It introduces us to Xenobia and gives us a better understanding as to why she is the way she is. Where she comes from, the women are not treated well. It is best to obey the rules. She finally makes a friend and needing to protect her, Xenobia prepares a plan for escape. She learns the hard way that even the best laid plans can go wrong. My only issue with this book was that it wasn’t long enough. I think the author could have explained more about what Xenobia is or why she seems to be the only one that’s blue.
The title of the book had me intrigued from the start and it is a line from one of the main characters songs that she has written. The story focuses on three main characters all of whom frequent Frank’s Coffee Shop on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Priscilla Vanderpool works at the coffee shop as a waitress but her passion lies in music and song writing. She has written many insightful and haunting lyrics but she’s the only one who’s ever heard them. The Coffee shop is described as a ‘dingy hole-in-the-wall’ by paparazzi phobic Tobias Jordan who was a rock star in the 90’s, however it soon becomes a safe haven for him. The third main character is disgraced architect Philip Glessner who found Frank’s one day as he was trying to avoid reporters. Both Philip and Tobias keep returning to the shop as they both see something in Priscilla. To Tobias she becomes his unwitting muse and to Philip she is an improbable paragon of virtue, however neither see her for who she really is. All three main characters are hugely likeable but each has their own demons that they are battling with which also makes them very realistic and relatable as characters. The novel is very character driven and the author has a way of making you become really immersed in their world and invested in their outcomes. It was the characters and the need to know their fates which had me hooked and turning the pages. It’s an original read and an interesting plot that all three are strangers but also connected via Frank’s and how this influences each one of their lives. It’s a rather lengthy book but it’s an easy read as the storyline has enough twists and unexpected moments to keep you guessing and the narrative flows along at a good pace.

Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress by Lucinda Race is the first book in the MacLellan Sisters trilogy. This is a fun story with some great characters, especially the 3 sisters. I loved the idea of this book. An enchanted wedding dress that reveals the future of the wearer – who wouldn’t want to try it on!! The author has done well with the story and created a fun and entertaining book. It is quite a fast paced book, which maybe wasn’t always needed, but the author has still managed to create a story that will keep you turning the pages. For me my favourite part of this book is the characters. As an only child I would have loved to have sisters like this to grow up with. They came across as so close and so caring it was lovely to read about. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This is the second book in the Logan McKenna mystery series. Once again we follow Logan as she decides on a love interest and if it’s too soon to get more series. And as she finds herself in yet another mystery to solve. This book has multiple storylines to follow, sometimes can be confusing but in the end it all comes together. Another good book by this author. I encourage you to read this book as well.

Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress is the first book in the MacLellan Sisters Trilogy by Lucinda Race. Lucinda Race is an author that I have read before so was really looking forward to reading more of her work. This is a great romance book but it is quite different from a lot of romance books that I have read before. Much of the book is centred around the three MacLellan sisters Jamie, Kenzie and Grace and a lot of time is devoted to scenes where the three of them are together finding out about their recently departed Grandmother and the enchanted wedding dress that they have been sent following her death. The three sisters are very different and I loved getting to know all three of them. I loved how close they are to each other and the support that they give to each other. In this book we are concentrated on the oldest sister Jamie and her budding relationship with lawyer Steve. Jamie is waiting on the sparks flying and the butterflies giving her the signs that he is ‘the one’ only they don’t appear except when his brother Caleb makes an appearance. I loved reading about the three sisters and the Sullivan brothers. There is such great camaraderie when they are all together and I could read about them for hours. I really can’t wait for the next book to see what Lucinda Race has in store next for the MacLellan sisters.

This was a lovely story and keeps you gripped. The three characters are well written and you can’t help but feel every emotion they go through. It’s also really good how their lives intertwine with each other considering they are 3 strangers.
Priscilla is a waitress in a run down restuarant. With her boss Frank on her case 24/7 she feels so worn down. She is disillusioned by life and failed relationships. She needs to make a change but doesn’t know how.
Philip is an architect who’s career was great until one failed project brings his company and his reputation down. Added to this his wife filing for divorce and suing him for everything she can Philip finds comfort in his attraction to Priscilla.
Tobias is a middle-aged rockstar who is trying to rebuild his once budding career but with him losing his muse he is worried that his days of being a popular rockstar is over.
These three strangers with 3 different storys and problems all come together in this book. Can they help to repair each other or are they just 3 strangers who eat/work at the same place.

I loved reading the book Road Tripped (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #1) by Manda Mellett. It is a romantic suspense story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I have read several books by the author and have never been disappointed. She does an amazing job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I loved that characters from her other books make an appearance in this one. The main character is sent to the Utah chapter of Satan’s Devils by Drummer to find out why they are so secretive. This time is also to be used to clear his head from the fact that he would not be able to participate professionally in the one sport that he loved so much. What will he find in Utah? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed reading about the two main characters in this story. I could feel the comradery that is between members of the MC club and also the new relationships that are forming. There are some twists that I didn’t see coming. There are also romantic moments that will make the temperature in the room rise. Don’t miss out on the first book in the Utah Chapter of Satan’s Devils. It is a story that is exciting and entertaining to read. I highly recommend reading it.

I enjoyed this romance-paranormal book. This is not my first book but it is my favorite of hers yet. I was pulled right into the story right from the beginning. It is a fast paced story that once I started it, I had a hard time putting it down. It is engaging and kept me turning pages fast. I had no issues connecting to the characters as they brought the story to life. It is full of shifters, witches and elementals. This is Rhy and Luna’s story. Luna loves her new life but she never expected to find a connection with Rhy. They have an attraction to each other but there something that is stopping them from beginning together. Her past reappears and now she must face challenges for them to be together. What happens next you will need to read about it and I highly recommend reading this book. I loved the chemistry between these two and I found myself hoping that they would end up together at the end. This book made a great rainy day story to dig into.

I loved reading the book Enchanted Passion (The Protectors Series Book 4) by Toya Richardson. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me to until the final page. It is a book that includes danger, action, and romance. I have always loved paranormal romance books and this one is a good example of the reason why. I loved the characters of Luna and Rhys. They both have an intense attraction and connection to each other. Luna is intelligent, strong, and independent. A part of her past has reappeared. How much danger is Luna in? Rhys would do anything to protect Luna. Will Luna and Rhys get a HEA? Read this book to find out. This story had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Luna and Rhys with every chapter that I read. I couldn’t help but want them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that interact with Luna and Rhys. Many of them form a community that supports and helps each other. Some characters have an evil agenda and will stop at nothing to make their plans succeed. The author does a wonderful job of making the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you turning pages to find out what happens. It is an exciting and entertaining book to read. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this book. It is a little different than I normally read but I am glad I picked it up. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is a well written story that has characters that I had no problems connecting with. They brought the story to life for me and kept me turning pages from the first page. This story is a diary about a woman whose profession is a call girl and she is planning her perfect suicide. As a girl what she wanted to be was an astronaut but what she became instead was a criminal. Now along side of her therapist she is planning her own suicide. I enjoyed watching this character grow throughout the story and how she got to this point in her life. I did feel bad for her in parts because she has had so much trauma in her life. She made a great character and made the story easy to read. I highly recommend this book.

The book Drifting Falling: Diary of a Call Girl Suicide by A.J. Ullman is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is the story of a young woman who has suffered through a childhood that included multiple traumas and now finds herself on a course to take her own life. Ripley Astilla Luna is a young woman who has a longing to lift off from Earth and go into space as an astronaut. She has a lot of knowledge about the space program as well as those who are part of it. She is intelligent, beautiful, and haunted by the past. Reading about Ripley had me in tears at times as she relives parts of her past. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time that I was reading it. This is a book in which Ripley takes you with her down a journey in which she has a fierce determination to finish her way. The story has dark moments as well as heartbreaking ones. This is a book that I couldn’t stop thinking about even after I had finished it. There are also the characters of Dan Truscott, Ripley’s psychiatrist, and Mort, Ripley’s only friend. Dan is a character whose actions I at times questioned. Mort is a character that Ripley turns to for support. They both have their part to play in the story and I don’t think that the story would be the same without either of them. The author does an amazing job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. It is a book that I would recommend reading.

Falling for the Texan (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 2) by Nicole Flockton
As much as I liked Kelly and Tate’s story, I think Gianna and Tyler is now my favorite. I loved getting to see the side if Tyler we didn’t see in the first book and how he came to a lot of realizations about everything. His family, his feelings about his past and now his future.
Gianna was quite endearing for a New Yorker. She had that hard exterior, but inside she was a big softy and was doing what she could to protect herself and her livelihood.
There are so many things I want to mention but they’re so entrical to the story line that I’m afraid to spoil something.
I don’t think you will be disappointed in this book and how it ends. I can’t wait for the next one.

Cynthia Hamilton has once again transported us into another world with this read. I love following her crime thriller reads and this read just shows us another level of this author’s writing. This read was real, raw and totally heartfelt, heart-wrenching and heart-warming read all at the same time. This book showed the relationship and bond between mother and daughters, the ups and downs and the journeys they take. To know this read is based on this author’s own mother, it really makes you connect on a deeper level with the thoughts and feelings that are throughout this book. I loved following the journey our main character takes finding out all the ups and downs, trials and tribulations that her mother goes through in her lifetime. This read will hit you and take you on a never-ending emotional rollercoaster. I’m so glad I picked up this read, and can’t wait to read more from this author!

Alligators in the Trees by Cynthia Hamilton is a romantic love triangle story. It is an interesting, and complex read. There is a lot of dialogue as the characters reflect back on their lives and how they got to where they are. Cynthia has a talent for creating complex characters with lots of layers and as the layers are peeled back like an onion, we get a view into their minds and world. The book as it is full of charm and wit but is also full of heartache and regret.

Let me start by saying, I enjoyed that this book took me back in time to the start of Vietnam and back to present day but I thoroughly enjoyed how it all came to tie together in a smooth way. I love Logan’s inquisitive nature and how she finds herself in these situations to help others. The author makes Logan come off just as human as the women that we are in real life which made me continue reading this second book of this series. I also love a good mystery and suspenseful story as this book was to draw me in as it was written well but the adventure keeps me at a smooth pace as well.

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie is a short story that I devoured in less than thirty minutes. This takes place prior to the first book The Rise of House Valdis and gives us a way better understanding into exactly who Xenobia is and what happened to her before the first book. Since it is a short story im not going to give anything away, but I will say this. One click this simply amazing book I promise you won’t be disappointed. Find out what happens with Xenobia and Urd in this must read. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in this series.

This is a bit of a darkish fantasy- with plenty of action, adventure, danger, paranormal elements, drama, twists, mystery, romance, wonderful world building, and intriguing characters. As I have said before, Ms. Miller really knows how to weave an engrossing story- and has also created a really impressive, original, and entirely believable world in which to set her story. So descriptive and vividly detailed, it was really easy to ‘picture’ everything as the story was brought to life before my eyes. These characters are all very interesting, fully developed individuals with their own personalities, quirks, and flaws. There is a fairly large cast of characters, but each plays their part wonderfully well, and adds interest to the overall storyline. So, if you love a great fantasy, with intriguing characters, and a wonderfully exciting plot that will keep you engrossed the whole way through- then this is definitely the book for you. A superb start for the series.

I was so engrossed in the story that I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Valkyrie’s books. If her other books are anything like this one, I will have a hard time putting the books down. I love finding awesome book series!
Falling for the Texan (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 2) by Nicole Flockton. Once again I fall head over heels for the characters this author has given us. The chemistry is off the charts and you can easily connect with each one. Tyler and Gianna both pulled me so into their story I got lost for a few hours with them happily. Each character brings something unique to the storyline and keeps readers hooked from start to finish. It’s a sweet story that I enjoyed getting lost in. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I love the characters and story world this author creates and I can’t wait to read more. Forest Park, really, both books I have read of the Logan McKenna series so far have been the type of storyline you can’t stop thinking about. You know the kind where you finished the dishes so now you feel you should reward yourself with a few more pages? This series reminds me of one of my favorites from a well known writer. Strong, admirable lead female, fast paced and interesting from start to finish. One of the things I have come to like best about Valerie Davisson’s writing style is not only the attention to detail but her ability to showcase more than one point of view in the story. While the book is meant to be a mystery, there are a lot of deeper scenarios than just a cat and mouse thriller. I am fairly new to this author and really look forward to reading more from her. Definitely a 4 star, recommended read from me.

This is book two in Davisson’s ‘The Logan McKenna Series’ and widowed Logan McKenna returns investigating another crime to help out friends. It can be read as a standalone story although if read in order the reader has more of an understanding of Logan’s backstory. This is an exciting story which has a fast paced storyline and I was hooked from the start. Logan is staying at a hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon when a violent explosion rocks the town and results in a women’s death. The incident has links to the last days during the Vietnam War and the choices made at that time, now those that ‘cheated death’ during the war are under threat. When Logan realises that the police are investigating the wrong suspects she undertakes her own investigations especially as two of her friends are on the polices suspect list. A homeless vet is also under suspicion and Logan has to uncover the truth amongst the secrets and lies to discover if any of them are innocent. Meanwhile Logan experiences an explosion of her own in regards to her personal life. No Spoilers, as I recommend you loose your self in this book. I felt totally immersed in the the story and enjoyed being back investigating with Logan, who is an independent and loyal heroine of the series. Logan McKenna is a very likeable and relatable character who holds the storyline together well. I found this to be a page turner of a novel, a real crime, thriller, murder mystery, and one which had me hooked from page one until the very last page.

Forest Park is the second book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series. I read the first book and I was sort of on the fence about it. When I finished the first book I said to myself that I am open to giving Logan another try and maybe it was my expectations that got the best of me so I did what I had told myself to do and picked up the second book of the series. The opening scene in Vietnam in 1975 piqued my interest. I have always felt drawn to the stories that have something to do with Vietnam war so I was thinking to myself “interesting, let’s see what it has to do with Portland, Oregon in the present time”… Next we jump into the Valentine’s Day of 2014 and Logan is ready to take her relationship of six months to another level but Ben never makes it … as she is already in Portland then she gets a meal from the Vietnamese food truck and checks into the hotel … next there is an explosion and the old Vietnamese woman who she bought her meal from is no longer alive … Logan feels that she needs to get involved to find out what happened … So this is sort of the baseline for the story and it could have been pretty good … the only thing is that there were way too many point of views that the writer jumped among and at some point I had to ask myself who was xxx and where does that person come in … the other thing that really messed with me was Logan’s obsession with her weight … ok, I get it is so important here in the US for some reason but it just felt at time way over the top, even the cats weight was something that was written the way that it caught my eye … I mean the murder gets solved, not really with Logan’s help and the way …. Well … there are some great relationships and moments that took me where I expect great books to take me and that is the reason I do give the story 3 stars and feel that one could take a chance and read the story, just take your time and modify your expectations and you will experience some great moments!

This is the second book in the series by Ellen Butler. This book had me hooked from the start it so full of mystery. I adore Karina character she is such a strong and passion perosn. Been in the wrong place at the wrong time with the senator. There are some many twist and unexpected turns in this story. I can’t wait to read the next book.

The Lightning Horse by N.L. Holmes is the first book in the Empire at Twilight series. This is a brilliant historical fiction book that really made the pages come alive. I didn’t really know what to expect when I started this book but knew that I was intrigued by the description. I never expected to be transported to an ancient time and pulled into a story that I honestly couldn’t put down. The author has done an amazing job with this book – I could so easily picture everything she was describing as if I were right there in the story. It really helped to give a sense as to what this time period would have felt like. I loved the political aspect to it – the plot against the King, the mission to uncover it all – but I also really liked the more pulled back, family aspect. It gave an additional level to the book that for me really made it what it is. If you love this genre, or even if you just want something new, then I would definitely recommend reading this book!

House of Illusions: A Dark Fantasy Romance by Pippa J Frost is an exciting story that knows how to keep you turning the pages. I found this book to be a really easy book to get in to. The story was well written and engaging I had no trouble at all with sinking in to it. I enjoyed reading about the characters. They were written in such a way that they complimented each other so well. Even though it is a fantasy story I could imagine them and felt like I was sharing in their journey. They really added to the story and took the book to a new depth. I really enjoyed reading this book and I am exciting to discover more of this authors work.

This is the third book in this series. I loved it from beginning to end. I highly suggest reading all the books in this series, they are really great. This is a well developed story that has twists and turns that left me turning pages fast. The characters made the story not only easy to read but also made it feel realistic. Valerie’s past is about to come crashing into the present with just one phone call. Life as she knows it, is about to change. As things get more messed up, she doesn’t know who to trust and trusting is getting less and less. She is out to hold Dr. Chad Ross accountable for his actions against her. Will things stay the same or will they see the changes coming? I loved Valerie’s character as I felt bad for her in parts and she has no one to trust as friends became less. She is strong and made the story for me. I highly recommend this book and this author.
