My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was the first book I have read by this author and I did enjoy the story. The characters were well written and the writer was able to write in a way that makes you feel like you are in that era. As is the time there is quite a bit of violence but because of the era it doesnt seem out of place.

The year is 1926. Brek is in a world of drink and drug smuggling and violence on an epic scale. As he searches for his love Gabrielle he has to face loads of ups and downs. Things that push him to breaking point and on the verge of losing his life.

Can he survive to be reunited with his love or will his antics catch up with him in a brutal way.

Phoebe Alexander is one of my favorite authors EVER! Her books are nothing like you have either read or will read! The Spicetopia series definitely falls under that category. She sets us up with a killer sensual amusement park for adults. Doesn’t that sound amazing? Each story is one a different couple that works throughout the park/organization. They are beautiful sweet stories that definitely have some spice to them. This boxed set is perfect for the weekend binge read!

Four Stars

Her Blackened Heart is the second book in the Blackened series by Isra Sravenheart. This book can be read asa standalone, but I recommend you read them in order to understand all of the back story. This story is quite unique as it is told in the POV of the villain, Lady Isra. Astrid, the raven/man servant who is very protective of Lady Isra, is also featured in this book. This book is fast paced and full of action and adventure. It is a story of good versus evil and how there can be a little of both in people. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Five Stars

Reign is the third book in the Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. This series is fantastic. It should be read in order, and all of the books are great. This is Gio and Serena’s story. They have so much chemistry and know they belong together. They just have to overcome the fact that Giovanni is the new head of the Larussio crime family. Not only is it a physically dangerous proposition, but mentally coming to terms with life and death situations and decisions but a strain on both of them. This is my new favorite book of Ms.Mari’s. If you like a good crime/mafia romance, I would highly recommend this book, series and author.

Reign (The Larussio Legacy Book 3) by Via Mari

I have read not only every book in the Larsson Legacy series but I believe every book in the family.  I have enjoyed each of them for different reasons and in this book it’s the fierce protective nature of Giovanni towards Serena no matter what she does.

There were so many twists and turned throughout the book I couldn’t get ahead and figure out what was next.  Which I both loved and hated.

So much happens between Giovanni and Serena in this book, it was amazing how much action got packed into a normal length book.

I’m very hopeful that this isn’t the last we see of this family and looking forward to reading how the next guy falls.

Her Billionaire Daddy (Western Daddy Doms Book One) by Allison West – Review by Gail Guerrero

Three Stars

Her Billionaire Daddy started off good. The story has a nice base. The author’s writing style wasn’t bad it had a nice flow to it. The story just lacked real emotions to me. There’re parts missing to me. Like we skip the arguments and assume everything was worked out. There didn’t seem to be a connection emotionally with them. It just moved too fast. I liked where the author was trying to go with the story. The characters didn’t develop enough for me. Then there is the Daddy and Little parts. I honestly felt like it was thrown in there to make it something different. I would say that the author has potential to make a really good story if the things missing filled in. Like this was a short story so maybe a full story would be better. I will definitely look out for longer books by this author. So that I can form a better opinion. Like I said it definitely showed potential.

Phoebe Alexander never misses when it comes to throwing something new and different in your face. I would’ve never though of half the stuff in her books. This box set was funny, sexy and down right dirty. I enjoyed every page. I really liked the stories flow and how it all came together. The characters were well written. They developed well also. Cy had to be my favorite guy he is just sigh. The last book Naughty and Nice had me shook the most. He is a minister lol. I had my mouth falling open more than once while reading this box set. There were some hmm moments but it didn’t take away from the overall quality of the books. I definitely recommend this if you need a change from the typical books.

Reign is the 3rd book in the Larussio Legacy series and one that I completely devoured. This is the continuation of Serena and Giovanni’s rollercoaster ride of a relationship. So much happens in this book that it makes it so hard to put down. The twists and turns along with the espionage will constantly keep you guessing but one thing for sure is that you want Serena and Giovanni’s HEA!

Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie, is not a book you want to just zip through. Each little chapter is a story all its own. I love the way this book is about living in the moment. Not just living in the moment but every aspect of the moment and loving it. But what I love most about this book is the author’s turn of phrase. I love the way she uses language to paint pictures that you not only can see but you can smell and hear and feel. Such an appeal to the senses.

Playing Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Playing Series 3 Book SetPlaying Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you are a fan of sports romance stories…then this series is for you!

Each of the three books focuses on a player from the Boston Militia football team. Playing for the Money: a Bad Boy Sports Romance focuses on the team’s tight end, Hunter. Cat has been assigned to be his handler and keep him line after an alleged incident. Hunter is trying to stay on the right path so he can support his family. However, he is having a hard time fighting his attraction to Cat…especially since the coach has a rule about staying away from his daughter!

Playing for Love: a Second Chance Sports Romance is the story of the team’s QB, Gabriel. This is probably my favorite of the three stories. Gabriel is in a long-distance relationship since his dream of football has him playing in Boston. When his girlfriend’s best-friend moves to Boston sparks fly. The angst is soooo good in this story and I found myself devouring this one in one sitting!

Playing for Keeps: an Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance is the story of Tate, the team’s linebacker. Tate is not a huge fan of reporters and the media…and Chloe is a sports reporter who has overheard information about Tate while out at a bar. Tate and Chloe are at odds with each other…so what happens when their friends set them up on a blind date?

All three stories were wonderful. I love a good sports romance and each of these stories checked off all the things I love in a good book. There was angst and witty banter…cocky athletes…strong women…and of course some spicy moments thrown in. I love how all these books are connected and characters show up in all three. A great series…and I will definitely be checking out more!

Reign is the third book in Via Mari’s Larussio Legacy series. I think I have read everything she has written and I love how her different universes co-exist and that we meet up with old ‘friends’ again and again. Reign is the next step in Gio and Serena’s story! Via piles on the suspense and danger mixed with passion and steamy romance! She has such a way with painting the picture so that at times you bite your nails and need a fan to cool yourself off! Serena is as independent as ever and deep in love with Gio. Gio as dominant as one can get and over his head in love with her and he is determined to keep her safe! I wonder what comes next as you can just see so much that still needs to be told!

I give Grosse Pointe by Natalie Barnes, 5 stars.

This book is incredible. Brek is a great main character, andh is story is heartfelt and endearing. It is the story of a man with a good heart who does what he has to do to survive. The secondary characters are also so good. They feel so real and I felt like I was put right into his era along side these colorful characters. The story itself is written so incredibly. You will feel all emotions as you read, but will be moved by both the love and the hate that is in this story.

If you are a fan of historical fiction interspersed with romance and/or books set around an Irish immigrant in the 1920s, you must read this book. I could not put it down and want to read more about this world.

This is the 3rd book in the Larussio Legecy series. It is the continued story of Giovanni who is the next in line to become don of the Italian Mafia and Serena who is a airline waitress. This book is full of action and romance. Even though there is a strong dominant male character in Giovanni, I like that fact that Serena is also a strong and determined character that keeps Giovanni on his toes.

There relationship is strong and passionate with a dom/submissive element but with all the protocols in a mafia family and the fact that just being with Giovanni puts her life and that of her families in danger it causes Serena to run.

But with all of the Larussio’s enemy’s looking for her as a way to hurt Giovanni has she made the wrong decision and played straight into their hands? Will she see that Giovanni’s love for her will over rule any protocol set by his family or will Giovanni’s commitment to his family and their way of life push Serena away for good.

Mudesa is a psychiatrist who strongly believes in reality and science. When her parents die, she is forced to return home. Unfortunately not all of her childhood memories are pleasant. Growing up in a house where the adults believed in magic made for a strange upbringing. Now Mudesa must face her fears once again. Instead of finding closure, Mudesa has more questions than before. With the help of a sexy stranger, maybe she’ll find some answers. Yet some questions are better left unanswered.

This book is filled with mystery and magic. The author will keep you guessing until the end. With twists and turns, you’ll be kept on the edge of your seat. I’ve read many books by C.A. King and have loved them all. She truly is an imaginative and creative author.

The plot was awesome with a few twists and the characters are amazing I loved how they drew you in from the first page and I simply loved their quirkiness.

Katarina and Chase have a love that is unique their bedroom scenes are out of this world steamy. But not all things are rosy. Katarina wants to full-fill her father dream but first she must overcome her Italian family’s opposition. It will not be easy. They do not trust her, they have traditions, and they have rules!

Chase on the other hand is having trouble letting Katarina the freedom she needs to fight for her father’s legacy after everything he has learned about the Italian don and Katarina’s cousin, Giovanni?

Can these two over come Katarina’s Family and build her legacy or will her family destroy her dreams? Will the family learn to trust Katarina?
Even though this book is mainly about Katarina and Chase we get to see Serena and Giovanni and how they meet and what is instore for them in Rise which I can wait to star reading.

This story starts off with a fast pace and keeps it up the whole way through. It is full of action, danger, drama, suspense, and of course romance. Serena is finally understanding what it means to be connected to Gio’s family and she makes a decision that she thinks will help protect her own family, but ends up leading her into even more danger. I enjoyed the strength of Serena’s character -she’s smart, spirited, and she can defend herself.
Overall, it’s a good read that will keep you entertained.

Reign The Larussio LegacyReign The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reign is the 3rd instalment in the Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. This book is not intended to be read as a stand-alone and the series should be read in order. I first discovered Via Mari’s excellent writing with the first book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series and have been a huge fan ever since.
Via Mari has a great skill for writing dominant alpha males and Gio is a prime example of this. He is totally dominant in the bedroom and an ultimate alpha male out of the bedroom. He loves fiercely and is insanely loyal both. I absolutely adore Gio. Serena is perfect for Gio in every way. She is totally submissive in the bedroom but is sassy, feisty and far from submissive outside of the bedroom. She is so not scared to say exactly what she is thinking.
This book is extremely fast paced and is filled with so much drama. As a high up member of the mafia, Gio has many enemies and they want to hurt him in the hardest way and that is by taking his woman. Serena is in constant danger and Via Mari does a fantastic job of keeping the reader gripped to this story. There is constantly something going on that keeps you on your toes.
I love that you also get to be reacquainted with those from her other series as the characters are all interlinked. Cannot wait to see what alpha males and submissive women that Via Mari brings to life for us readers next.

In this story, we begin with Mudesa at home and relaxing after a long day at work in the clinic, watching the sunset and the city come alive, that is until she sees the shadow at the corner of her eye, she was always told that the shadows are demons to create a more solid form, however, they are unable to do it because they are trapped behind the glass and past experience has been that nothing good happens when the shadow appears.

She goes into a shower and tries to get rid of the goosebumps which the shadow has given her, as she is getting ready for bed, she takes some sleeping tablets and picks up a photo frame with a picture of her brothers and while reminiscing about them when she sees the shadow again. As she throws the frame across the room in shock, it shatters and when a bout of nausea overtakes her and she rushes to the bathroom, she realises that she has splinters of it all through her feet, the pain of which the sleeping tablet’s won’t help with.

When she gets there, she wants to organise everything from there, however, there is a clause in the will which means she will have to head back to her family home and everything that she left behind her there.

We next meet Perry P., a private investigator who receives a mystery envelope with cash and a request to procure three items from a certain house, as the family owed him a debt, he was more tempted than usual to agree to the unusual circumstances.

As the two meet for the first time at the house, they both realise that they are both looking for the mystery hidden within the walls, but not necessarily for the same reason. As more things are revealed about the past, her family and why they behaved the way they did, a war in her mind between logic and her parent’s beliefs and the possibility that they are true begins.

Will Mudesa be able to solve the mystery and what has Perry P. got to do with it all, will he be a help or a hindrance to her and will she be able to overcome her fears and get to the truth? Only by reading it will you uncover the mysteries of the house and the people within it.

Child of ProphecyChild of Prophecy by J. Drew Brumbaugh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this installment of the Tirumfall trilogy, we start off the tale four years after the first book finished in Gant and Dalphnia’s house as he waits for Pris to arrive for his usual visit. As Gant is watching for Pris’s approach on the pathway through the forest and worrying that he has been waylaid in his travels, he hears a knock on the door and is shocked to see Pris there and he is reminded of when they first met and how he loved to play pranks on people. As Pris explains that he has been studying magic and he has used it to travel to see Gant, he is able to do more now, than other wizards in the past, however, it does take a toll on him and as Dalphnia is still out in the woods, Gant asks what it is that Pris has been doing, Pris goes on to talk about events in his empire and how the populace want his as the Emperor to solve all of their problems for them, this, plus his worries about the other kingdom over the mountains where the Demons are still causing a problem.

When Dalphnia returns and they have said their hellos, a golden light begins to appear and strengthen and turn white until it becomes almost blinding and a woman appears within the light. She is familiar to Gant, as she has appeared to him once before and she then warns them that a child is to be born across the mountains and that this child is destined to unite the forces of darkness who dwell there. The child in question will be born on the darkest night in Ferd, the capital of Scaltzland and deep into the heart of the demon territory. As she leaves, she finishes the prophecy by saying that this union must not come to pass and that they must do something to stop it as she is unable to do so herself.

After the lady and the light disappear, they continue to talk about this upcoming event and ways in which they can stop the demons getting the child long into the night. They discuss all the possibilities, where the child will be, how well it will be guarded and by whom, as well as what they can do once they have the child, as killing it is not an option. They realise that it is only two and a half months away and that they will need some help with figuring out the plan and they know exactly who to talk to.

They travel to see Abadis and Amelia where they figure out a plan and prepare to head out to Ferd, as long as they stay together, they can use each other’s strengths and weaknesses to their advantage. As the journey progresses, they keep running into obstacles and barriers, but fortunate events as well lead to some ways to make progress and keep spirits high from some unexpected allies.

This is another epic journey through dangerous lands with friends, foes, magic and fights, all the things you want from a fantastic fantasy tale, so go on another exciting journey with Gant, Pris, Abadis and Amelia and see what comes to pass!

A self-admitted book addict, Valerie was the kid with the flashlight under her pillow, reading long after lights out. After a life of travel, she now lives on the Oregon coast with her husband, John, and their new puppy, Finn. When not working on her latest book, she’s probably in the kitchen, making a mess and cooking up a storm for family and friends.

Playing Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen – Review by Sara Oxton

Playing Series 3 Book SetPlaying Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Playing series 3 book set by Stephanie Queen each tell their own story wrapped in a bow.
Playing for the Money – Is Hunter the bad boy that we think he is, yes, he punched his old coach, but as we get the story it reveals the real Hunter. Cat brings a great side to the story, and she also allows the heat to be brought to the story.
Playing for Love – My Goodness Gabe is a real player, and not in the normal sense when reading a sports romance, he has an obsession with his sport that brings football to life on the page. Its sad that not everyone can see that, but will that matter in the end? Will Mia coming to town give him another obsession? Or will their joint acquaintance keep them from becoming acquainted.
Playing for Keeps – oohh I do love a good enemies to lovers story, and when you realise that the two ‘enemies’ both have shadows hanging over them, is it the shadows that keep them enemies? You will need to read to find out. Tate and Chloe will keep you hooked and bring you into the story.
Each one of these stories brings something else to the novel, they all complement each other and make a great collection.

Tidal Love by KM Lowe – Review by Sara Oxton

Tidal LoveTidal Love by K.M. Lowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tidal Love by K.M. Lowe a five-star read that will sweep you away. This was my first read by this author, and I do plan on picking up more as I enjoyed the scene setting so much, I could imagine the sea breeze as I was reading, smell the salt in the air. Harleigh Harrison will pull you in, she has a story to tell and she does it well, her past isn’t a nice one, but with a family like hers she is shows promise for the future. Giovani Russi isn’t always an easy man, but when that moment happens he becomes someone that you want to cheer on, want to see get their HEA, I cant tell you what happens as you need to get there on your own, but don’t miss this story, there were moments it wasn’t a five-star read, but overall it really was.

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author – Review by Sara Oxton

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1)Shattered Reality by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shattered Reality by C.A. King a five-star read that will shatter you. This is the first novel in the Summoned series and shows us promise of a great series that will shatter you. I will admit that it was a little jumpy and disjointed at times, and almost felt like it could have done with another round of edits just to help it run smoother, but the story was well done and well plotted. That was why I decided on five-stars as I have read this author previously and know that usually with a strong story like this would get five-stars every time. Medusa Black well I don’t want to give the game away, but wow what a character, you get pulled into her story, that was part of what made this story so great. Then when you add in P.I. Perry P, it just explodes into this culmination that knocks the story to the next level, if the second half was as well put together as the first it would one of the best books this year, that’s how much I adored this story, I for one cant wait for more.

Rookie Moves: A Quick Snap Novella by Tarrah Anders – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

Rookie Moves was a quick read. The author gives you a peak into the life of a football rookie. I was thinking this was going to be typical but it wasn’t. I liked that Grant was willing to change to keep him future bright. That he wasn’t going to let his faults ruin his football career. At first I didn’t really like Emily because I thought she was going to lead him down the wrong path. Her character was definitely flawed. But she changes and so does Grant’s. It was a nice story that gives you a nice view of professional athletes.
