Crave (Clark Family Series Book 1)Crave by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When your mother asks for a favour you have to say yes, so why when she walked into the party to deliver the cake she feels vulnerable. Then when the birthday girl asks you to stay and then introduces you to her son, this is not going to end good or is it?

Sandra is getting ready to go out with her girls, it Friday night time to party but when her mom asks her to deliver a birthday cake to one of her best clients, Sandra can only oblige. Once at the party Lil whose party it is asks her to stay and introduces her to her son, Jacob. Sandra has an instant attraction to Jacob but can they see where this delicious chemistry goes or will it be a missed encounter.

Jacob is broken, he has had betrayal from not only family but from love, he hides his heart in a vault of stone and never lets its out. His encounters are all of the one night stands, where he gets what he needs and nothing more, but he has been invited to his mother birthday party which he real does not want to go to as family affairs are either awkward or end up in fights, so Jacob tries to stay away as much as possible but he decides to show his face and then leave. As he is milling around the party his mother introduces him to Sandra and within that first encounter his hearts starts to thaw and he feels he wants to get to know this woman better.

As the story goes on you get to see the chemistry build as Jacob pursues Sandra and how the story weaves between the family dynamic of Jacob and will he be able to let go of the bitterness and pain that has him wallowing for years and is Sandra the woman to smash through the wall.

I loved this story, it is great to see a male character vulnerable and broken and is not afraid to show this side to them. The chemistry between the two main characters was brilliant and the banter at time was wonderful. I loved the character of Sandra who was independent and sassy and took not crap from Jacob even though he was relentless at times pursuing her. This was a gripping story which had me hooked and I could not turn the pages fast enough.
