The Earl and the Peahen (The Scarlet Salon Book 5) by Jean Wilde – Review by Angela Hayes

The Earl and the PeahenThe Earl and the Peahen by Jean Wilde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Earl and the Peahen is the fifth book in The Scarlet Salon series by Jean Wilde. As with the other books in the series, it can be read as a standalone. But, having said that, if you love historical romance/regency romance- then you probably won’t want to miss out on what the first four books have to offer.
This is a really great historical/regency romance- about finding love unexpectedly, where opposites attract- and with plenty of banter, drama, intrigue, chemistry, tension, and more.
I really enjoyed following Jane and Alexander on their ‘adventure’- watching while fate threw these two ‘opposites’ together and especially enjoyed how everything played out. As expected, the characters were really well developed- crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I found them to be quite endearing and couldn’t help but cheer them on from the sidelines.
This is another really well developed story from Ms. Wilde. She crafts a rich setting for her story- full of clever and creative touches – along with authentic historical details that really help to bring her characters and story to life. Her storytelling really draws you into her ‘world’ and she easily captured and held my attention the whole way through.
I wonder what she has instore for us next?

Thank you, Jean Wilde!
