BRINK OF DENIAL (SONS OF SINDICATO BOOK 2) by SONYA JESUS AND CAM JOHNS – Review by Colleen Noyes

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato #1)Brink of Denial by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read the prequel Sons of Sindicato and had high hopes for this book and it did not let me down! First off the men in this book are exactly what I want to see in a book about this subject matter. They are strong, defined, harsh, but you can feel that family is everything. They all brought a very firm hand and character to the forefront. Dane and Mila loved each other many years ago and while Mila left you can understand why and what she was trying to accomplish. I’ll be honest, there’s not much to root for where Mila is concerned for part of this book, but as you delve deeper in you gain an understanding and you start to see the growth especially with how she handles things at the end. Dane on the other hand, you can feel his heartache and pain from the get go and I love that the authors showed that raw, mean, payback, vindictive side of a man who has been burned. I appreciated that he wasn’t a puppy dog, but instead a man who knew what he would and wouldn’t tolerate. The conversations between Seth and Dane were engaging and kept me on my toes wanting more. The authors did a great job of bringing the women together in this book, Mila, Shaw, & Gia showing them not only as strong, independent, vibrant women, but instead of all the cattiness you often are given with women they went a different route showing that women are more than capable of leaning on each other, sharing, and not being jealous. The way the women start to form their own group was one of my favorite things and I can’t wait for those relationships to grow. I’m hoping that there will be more to Shaw and Seth as I didn’t feel they got nearly enough story time between the two books and would like to really see more backstory for them like we got for Dane and Mila. The ending was a HUGE surprise and was so beautifully written that you never saw it coming you will sit with your mouth open and then use that mouth to curse out the authors for not already having the next book done. if you want a book with strong female and male characters, that has suspense, excitement, so much more you will want to grab this one over and over. So far one of my favorite reads of the year, easily.
