Loved it!!! Milana and Dane were great!! Milana wants to come back to Dane, after being away for eleven years pursuing her modeling career in California. When being blackmailed for so long she asks Dane for help, but things get worse. Dane wants Milana to prove that she will be loyal to not only him but to the Sindicato. The book ends in kind of a cliffhanger so I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book to see what happens.

I absolutely loved this novella! Sons of Sindicato by Sonya Jesus & Cam Johns is a captivating suspense filled novella to start off the Sons of Sindicato series and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Braelynn and Seth!

Braelynn is a successful criminal defense attorney who put everything she has into her career. And it could all be lost in a blink of an eye. Not only is she having a secret affair with a client but she just committed murder. Surely that would get you disbarred.

Seth is the son of the leader of the Sindicato. He finds himself needing a good attorney to help get him out of the trouble he was in and man did she do her job! But from the beginning, Braelynn had his attention and he’s not sure that’s a great idea considering how his family fells about it. But he’s willing to do anything for her. He would even help cover up a murder. Will he go as far as walking away from his family?

This was an amazing story. Yes, I do wish it would have really gone into their story more but wow did it pack a punch! I will be adding Sonya & Cam as my list of “must-read” authors!

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato Book 1)by Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns was riveting and kept me wanting to read more. It followed the thoughts of Mila and Dane and gave a different perspective for each of the main characters. I found myself excited to see what each character felt. The beginning was a little difficult to follow with the introduction to not only the main characters but many characters that played into the back story. After the story progressed, the characters merged and development was strong. At the end of the story, I found myself wanting more and can’t wait for the next book.

I read the prequel Sons of Sindicato and had high hopes for this book and it did not let me down! First off the men in this book are exactly what I want to see in a book about this subject matter. They are strong, defined, harsh, but you can feel that family is everything. They all brought a very firm hand and character to the forefront. Dane and Mila loved each other many years ago and while Mila left you can understand why and what she was trying to accomplish. I’ll be honest, there’s not much to root for where Mila is concerned for part of this book, but as you delve deeper in you gain an understanding and you start to see the growth especially with how she handles things at the end. Dane on the other hand, you can feel his heartache and pain from the get go and I love that the authors showed that raw, mean, payback, vindictive side of a man who has been burned. I appreciated that he wasn’t a puppy dog, but instead a man who knew what he would and wouldn’t tolerate. The conversations between Seth and Dane were engaging and kept me on my toes wanting more. The authors did a great job of bringing the women together in this book, Mila, Shaw, & Gia showing them not only as strong, independent, vibrant women, but instead of all the cattiness you often are given with women they went a different route showing that women are more than capable of leaning on each other, sharing, and not being jealous. The way the women start to form their own group was one of my favorite things and I can’t wait for those relationships to grow. I’m hoping that there will be more to Shaw and Seth as I didn’t feel they got nearly enough story time between the two books and would like to really see more backstory for them like we got for Dane and Mila. The ending was a HUGE surprise and was so beautifully written that you never saw it coming you will sit with your mouth open and then use that mouth to curse out the authors for not already having the next book done. if you want a book with strong female and male characters, that has suspense, excitement, so much more you will want to grab this one over and over. So far one of my favorite reads of the year, easily.

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato Book 2) by Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

11 years. That’s how long Mila has been away from home. She has dreams of owning her own clothing line, but being the daughter of a Mafia boss, she doesn’t really want that association. She signs a modeling contract that has her moving to California and leaving behind the man that she loves. After so many years in the industry she is starting to be considered old and is more than ready to close the lens on the cameras. She is ready to take her rightful place back in the Sindicato, but will she be welcomed with open arms?

Dane Giodano has been using the last decade to try and get over his first and only love. The night she left him she took his heart as well. Even after all this time he can’t let her go. When she turns back up in Jersey he wants to hate her, he wants to turn her away, but she won’t go without a fight. Being by his side is where he wants her, it’s where she belongs, but what is she willing to do to get there?

I do believe this series is my first taste of a Mafia romance. These ladies have done a great job pulling me in as a reader and making me want to keep turning the pages.

BRINK OF DENIAL: A Dark Mafia Romance (Sons of Sindicato #2) by Sonya Jesus & Cam Johns

This isn’t the first read by Jesus and Johns. Brink of Denial is a great read. It is the second book in the Sons of Sindicato Series but it can be read as a standalone.

Mila is back and this time it’s for good. Coming home had seemed to bring troubles for everyone. Trying to get back in Dane’s good graces is proving to be harder than she thought. The quote I chose for Mila is: “Follow me. I’ve been thinking about you all day.”

Dane is the oldest of three and is tired of having his heart torn out by the same girl. Mila will be the death of him it seems but he welcomes it. When he learns that she’s in trouble he helps her out. Why wouldn’t he, she is his after all. The quote I chose for Dane is: “Clearly. If you want to go and live Mila’s life, Dad shouldn’t stop you. Maybe talk to Mila first, and ask her how all the fame and fortune is going before you pack your bags and fly away from here. Mila’s life isn’t as beautiful as you think.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

This book was a super wild ride all the way to the very last pages which totally blew me away! In sons of sindicato we get the story of Seth and Shaw and we get snippets of Dane and Mila. Brink of denial explored everything that makes them Dane and Mila together and apart. They are wild, forceful, aggressive, but madly in love! They have been their entire lives and we get their story in book #2. After that ending it will be a rough wait until book #3 is released!

Brink Of Denial (Sons of Sindicato Book 1) by Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns was a great read! This book was thrilling, entertaining, full of romance and erotica, and crime as well. I didn’t see a lot of Dane in the first prequel (I guess that’s the correct name) and it was very nice to learn more about his and Mila’s relationship in this novel. There were a few twist and turns I wasn’t expecting and it kept me enthralled and not wanting to put this book down. I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brink of Denial by Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns is the second book in the Sons of Sindicato Series. I have not read anything from either of these authors individually, so I can’t speak for their writing style separately, but together, amazing!

What happens when you leave the world you know for something else? What happens to the ones
you leave behind? When Mila leaves, she is on the search for her place in the world. She leaves behind everyone, including her best friend Dane. When Mila leaves, Dane basically forgets she exists, but holds a gigantic grudge against her.

Fast forward, Mila wants to come back and expects things to be fine. Dane, could care less and is absolutely furious with her. Can Mila win Dane back, or has she lost him for good?
