First, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay a fantastic five-star read. This is the first novel in the Donovan Trait series, and I am so excited for the rest, I have enjoyed reading this author previously, but this one just had the extra magic, it made me chuckle, but most of all it kept me hooked. This has an original quality to the story, and the characters are just sublime, the snark, the quirks, and the smoothness, all create this great story.

This audiobook is so intense…no doubt many hot moments as well. When Alexander bumps into Krystina there are sparks no doubt. This story not only has intense, hot moments but there is definite past traumatic times for both Alexander and Krystina. The dominate side of Alexander is hot! At first I was a bit annoyed at Krystina’s character. I found her a little bratty and immature even though she is a very strong and independent woman. I change my thought on that by the end of the story and you find out why. I see why she didn’t want to lose herself or her independence. Great audio and looking forward to finding out what happens in the next book.

The continuing adventure from part one of Lillie, Heath, Chief, Brian and Clay against the bad sorcerer, Erius. When we last left Erius had kidnapped Lillie and the guys were trying to figure out how to safely get her back. They are trying hard. Lillie has grown so much during these challenges. She has become stronger and braver at standing up for herself, much to the chagrin of the guys. It is wonderful to see because the Zayed allow her to be who she is. She is not supposed to stifle herself. She also learns a life-changing secret that has been kept from her her entire life. Again the author has outdone herself with some major finale action. The ending is outstanding!! I could picture the scene with color and sound just like I was there. I have truly enjoyed this series. I hope to read more from this author.

Brink of Denial is book two in the Sons of Sindicato series by the seriously talented duo of Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns. Anticipation, check. Build up, alluring. Delivery, on point. This duo spared the reader nothing, and gave everything. Immediately obsessed with this story, I devoured it in one sitting. Mila was on a journey of rediscovering herself and reconnecting with her first and only love, Dane. But he isn’t the man she left behind and has her work cut out for her if she wants to claim him for herself. This story is dark, deep and decadent. Powerful scenes that left me white knuckled and breathless. Passion burned between them. Stubbornness reigned. The hearts desires won out. Brink of denial was exceptionally presented, packed a punch and was unforgettable. Imaginative, dramatic, pulsing goodness. This series is one spicy read. 5 stars.

Next Door to a Star is an angsty YA story by Krysten Lindsay Hager. As I mentioned, this is a young adult story full of all the teenage issues/angst/drama that comes with being a teen. The story is about friendship, cliques, fitting in, popularity, betrayal, young love, emotion, and heartbreak. Hadley Daniels is a typical teenage girl- who feels like an outsider and longing to be part of the ‘popular’ groups… she just longs to fit in. After her best friend moves away, Hadley has a hard time, becoming the target of the ‘mean girls’. Then things get interesting when Hadley goes to spend the summer at her grandparents home, discovering that the girl next door is none other than Simone Hendrickson, the famous teen television star. Simone is everything Hadley would love to be- and so Hadley is over-the-moon when Simone befriends her. But popularity may not be as great as it appears. Add a cute boy to the mix and things take a complicated turn. Hadley’s story is set to continue in “Competing With the Star” (Book #2).

I do love me a forbidden romance set in the world of the mafia/cartel. This novel starts off with a bang (literally) and doesn’t stop! So many twists and turns. Katie is supposedly a spoiled brat, daughter of Cartel leader Carl. Once people know Katie though they realize she’s really a selfless woman who is trying to live under her father’s tyrannical hand. After an attempt on Katie’s life Ramone is ordered to protect her life with his, and to make sure no one touches her, as an arranged marriage is being worked out. Of course, when you’re ordered not to touch what happens but you begin to want that person. I enjoyed seeing the true personalities of Katie and Ramone emerge throughout the story. No on is who or what they seem at first. Plus the lust, and later love, that develops between the two is palpable. I did appreciate the slow build up of desire for one another. First the reluctant sexual thought here or there, then the blatant attraction. While overall I thoroughly enjoyed the story, there were times I was lost as to who the internal monologue belonged. Sometimes it seemed that there was a third person narrator giving us more information, or foreshadowing things, and then it would switch to either Ramone or Katie’s thoughts, but in third person format. I think in the beginning I would have been able to follow better, and been more emotionally attached, if the narrator switched between Katie and Ramone in first person. I was excited to read the chapters here and there where we got insight into the mind of the hired assassin. It was interesting to see his perspective of the job and him seeking out his target, compared to us seeing what’s happening to Katie and Ramone. I also enjoyed the mini mysteries that popped up along the way: what happened to Katie’s mother; and who exactly is Ramone? Warning, there are some gruesome and gory bits as this is set in the world of the cartel. (Note, I shall never look at a soccer ball the same way.) Also trigger warning for human trafficking of women. Takeaway: if you like dark romance, you’ll enjoy this one.

Chase Benedict is a man who knows what he wants, he is the head of the Men of Honour and he has a dark side which would leave most people reeling and disgusted, however, his charm and debonair attitude keep reeling the ladies in, that is until Allegra comes along. Allegra Vallance s a law student who wants to specialise in human rights law, so in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, she is taking her course online and is stuck in her halls of residence thanks to the nationwide lockdown the government has imposed, but that will all change when she meets Chase.
Chase is sat in his leather chair at the head of the meeting table as usual going through the items on the minutes and considering his decisions carefully, especially about the plans for the group’s 160th anniversary celebrations this year, all the while all the time thinking of the upcoming weekends entertainment and how his life has turned out. He looks around the room afterwards, glorying in the old school decoration, the abundance, the men who held this position before him and the premium scotch he has tucked away for just this time of the day, the decision to have a public charity event and a more sordid affair afterwards have him excited and happy to be breaking the rules he had no intention of obeying in the first place. Meanwhile Allegra is stuck, she cannot think of what she needs to write for the piece she is desperately trying to write for her course, so she decides to go for a walk to get out of the house and out of her head, despite the torrential rain outside, but when she crosses the street, she is nearly hit by a car she didn’t hear or see coming. When the driver gets out of the car and starts having a go at her, in an arrogant and self-important manner, he hackles are raised and she bristles with indignation at his accusations and comments, she speaks her mind like she always does and it seems to take him aback, as though nobody speaks to him that way and this shocks her. After a short time, the man leaves and Allegra decides to go back to her room, her hope of settling her mind hasn’t happened though and she decides to go for another walk for some food.
As she is walking to the local takeaway, she is stopped by a young policeman and interrogated as to why she is out during a lockdown and whether she is breaking the rules, she is slightly offended by his mannerisms and although she knows she is bending the rules, she wants to stand up for herself, but his attention is thankfully drawn away when a car comes racing down the road and the policeman goes to intercept it. As Chase returns to where he met the enigmatic woman he cannot stop thinking about, he is stopped by a policeman and dressed down about his speed, however, it is instead Chase that dresses him down, demanding that he calls his superior to amend his mistake. He takes the opportunity during this confrontation to speak to the charming young lady again and this time it is a less confrontational conversation where he gets more of an inkling of her attitude and personality and as such, he invites her to his group’s upcoming event, she accepts and they both leave with Chase promising to contact her with the details.
This invitation is going to be an evening of glamour, black tie clothing and champagne, however, it isn’t going to be one soon forgotten as the lives and lifestyles of Allegra and Chase are going to collide in a flurry of personality clashes, but will the drive them apart or further together? This dark mafia style romance will keep you hooked as two strong personalities meet and clash with consequences neither can imagine.

This was my first introduction to Felicity Brandon’s writing and I was well entertained. I enjoyed the Covid Pandemic angle of this. You’re cooped up and social distancing, why would you have reason to meet someone new? The way Allegra and Chase came to interact was a clever twist I was not expecting. I enjoyed Allegra’s passion and strength. Who doesn’t like a strong female fighting for justice and to empower others? I also enjoyed having a FMC of mixed race, and reading how that impacted what she wanted to do in life. Chase is a pompous arse, but I enjoyed seeing his transition from seemingly one dimensional arrogant playboy and crime lord who couldn’t care less about anyone outside of his social circle, to love interest; even if he is still the domineering type. The spanking and Dom/sub trope was not one I was expecting but I felt it was introduced in a way that also introduced us readers to it. In Chased, the reader gets to see the FMC explore the power dynamic of this relationship, and the push and pull of being introduced to the Dom/sub life. While I enjoyed the story, I didn’t fall for the insta-love that occurred for Allegra. She’s known the guy about 2 weeks, having actually gone out with him just once after their meeting, and she’s falling in love? Sure there was texting and such in the meantime, but it just wasn’t believable to me. I do want to go find the story of Alice and Oscar and find out more about how that relationship evolved as it is mentioned numerous times.

Poppy is a woman who lives a lonely and sometimes frustrating existence in the tower blocks of Summercotes in East London, she lives on her own since her mum dies the year before and spends the rest of her time in the fish and chip shop where she works, Franks Fries, but that all changes when she is kidnapped on her way home as someone grabs her from behind and injects her in the neck with a syringe. Zensah is a Relicai, he is the leader of their tribe and has had to make some hard decisions for them when a giant tsunami ravages the planet they live on, destroys their homes and kills most of their elderly, women and cubs, it is a devastating loss and he is going to meet with another race who have said that they are going to be bringing some female settlers with them next time they are there and whether there is room for them on his planet, he says yes and they agree to meet again.
The next thing Poppy knows is that she is waking up somewhere unknown, fully clothed with a headache worse than a hangover, the fully clothed part is a good thing, but when she opens her eyes and sees the bright light above her and a giant toad next to her, things get a bit surreal. The weird thing is that she can understand the language and when she sees the girl next to her getting some laser treatment in her eyes, she understands that the same thing must have happened to her. As she takes in more of her surroundings, she finds she is bound by some glowing yellow bands, which is why she cannot move, there are also four other women in the same situation, well at least she isn’t alone in her predicament. The next thing she knows is that the alien is reporting to someone else that they are ready to be presented to someone and that they need to be their best behaviour, but who to is just as startling, a group of five panther-men walk through the door and as they talk about being “settlers” the truth dawns on Poppy and the others, they are to be sold as “breeding slaves”. Since this is the last thing that they want, they plan their escape by screaming and using the frog people’s own weapons against them, however, the plan doesn’t go as expected and the next thing they know, they are having to escape again, this time down to the last planet they wanted to be on.
When Zensah boards the shuttle with his four best warriors to go and meet the new settlers on the ship, he is thinking about the decisions he has made since being chosen as the leader and he is doubting his abilities to do the job, especially when he sees his home planet from above. When they dock with the main ship and go and meet the new settlers, he soon finds out that they aren’t settlers at all, that they are not there of their own free will and that they are being sold to him for the crystals on his home planet, this doesn’t sit well at all with Zensah or his Relicai nature and so he refuses the trade, that is until it is mentioned that if they refuse, the females won’t be returned home, they will just be taken elsewhere, he is stunned and doesn’t know what to do. However, when the females make their escape bid, he sees something new in them and makes the split second decision to help them, however, the consequences of this are suddenly more drastic than he believes and when they return to his home planet, he knows that he owes it to this band of females to help them adjust to life on his planet.
He starts this by protecting the one who is with him called Poppy, taking her back to his village and then talking to the other females after that, however, this isn’t as simple a task as it seems when Poppy asks him to teach her survival skills on the way, he agrees and becomes a mentor to her as they travel. Will they be able to reach the tribe’s home territory and cross the wild landscape unscathed, or will their luck run out during their long journey? This is a dystopian adventure with aliens, humans, friendship and hardship throughout as these two people learn about life and working together as they draw you along this new path with them.

This book was a quick read, I devoured it in one day! The Don is book one of four in the Her Three Immortals series by Hazel Storm. It took a hot second to get into and become acquainted with the characters and point of views but I was quickly hooked. I love stories that put me in the perspective of all the characters.
I adore a strong protagonist that is different and has flaws; Vanessa is such a great character that is so easy to relate to and connect with. She loves her family so much she would literally die for them. She faces so many obstacles and really has the odds against her. Luckily she has some saucy men around to spice up her dreams.
This author must love strong women, because all her female characters are badasses. Even the “villains” are exploding in conference that makes me have to take a step back and say, “dang girl, you a bad b*tch, psycho, but ambitious!”.
The gentleman in this story had me intrigued! There is a LOT to unpack here! I won’t give spoilers but I don’t think anyone is a loser here (well, Dorian is). I have no idea which God I’m rooting for..am I on Team Raef-billionaire, bright, knight in shining Armani suit, or Team Grey-dark, sexy, mysterious, solve your problems with a kiss? Then throw Aroz into the mix, I’m not even sure what mischief he’s going to cause yet, but I have a feeling his role isn’t over!
Did I mention this book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger?! Any idea where I can get a round trip ticket to the underworld; I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two, The God.

I have had the pleasure of reading several books by Ms. Alexander and have a certain expectation when I start one of her books. I’m happy to report I wasn’t disappointed with this book.
I thought the book taking place at a theme park was amazing and something new at least for me.
I love Jolie and her story is sad and empowering at the same time. She was willing to do whatever it takes to provide for her sons and she did just that.
Cy wasn’t the most likeable in the beginning, but there was a shift in him as the story progressed and by the end I loved him.
Once again Ms. Alexander delivers a great book which I will continue to expect from her. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

This was a great 5 star read. Zoe and Damien are both living in London trying to make ends meet and make their dreams come true. Damien see’s a familiar face at the club and can’t help but heckle her a little bit. Zoe finds herself in a not so great situation and she has to find a new place to live. Fate steps in and while Zoe is having lunch with her mother and brother, Damien appears and saves her from having to admit the truth. Let’s just say things escalate and get out of control from here.
Will Zoe and Damien be able to keep up the ruse or will feelings start to come out?
I really enjoyed this story and the characters. We get dual POV which I really like so I can see what they are both thinking. The author does a great job with her writing. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. It feels like they kept getting deeper and deeper into the situation and I enjoyed seeing how they dealt with it. And we also get some steaminess as well. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today on this great read.

Heart of Stone is the first book in the Stone Series: A Billionaire Romance by Dakota Willink. This book hooked me from the beginning and I listened to the whole book in one day. I love that I had a good book to listen to on my day off. Alexander and Krystina are total opposites, but so good together. As they spend time learning the differences in their lifestyles, their chemistry explodes. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series.
The narrators Lacy Laurel and Jeffery Kafer are both new to me. I really enjoyed how they brought the characters to life. Their voices are well matched and easy to listen to. I’m looking forward to listening to more by the .

While reading Chased I had an internal game of tug of war. I loved the dynamic of Chase, the lead of an organized crime association and Allegra, the up and coming human rights lawyer, at the start of their relationship. I could feel the turmoil Allegra was unknowingly thrown into. As the book came to a close I fell back in love with Chase and Allegra’s budding relationship. I can’t wait to learn how the two come to common ground and learn to love the fire between them two.

Turning Wheels is the first in the series entitled Satan’s Devils, but not the first book I have read by Mellet. This is probably one of my favorite stories by Mellet.
I love this storyline and these characters, especially the “disabled” character of Wheels. She is one tough cookie. I really love how the plot kept moving and the buildup to the climax was not a letdown at all.
This story is about a motorcycle club, MC, that while may not be completely innocent, they do try to do the right thing. And protecting women is one of those things. When Sophie is threatened by a wealthy crazy man the MC takes her under their protection. I love that Sophie has no idea about MC’s in America being that she is from England. Her surprise and learning is refreshing if not comical.
Wraith is the VP of the club with no desire to be president and no desire to have an old lady, wife in MC terms. He earned his name…well as you can imagine. When he meets Sophie, he is taken back by his immediate feelings for her. His protective instincts sky rocket.
The two learn how to accept each other and bring out the best in each, as any healthy relationship should be. I am looking forward to the rest of the club’s stories.
I am just loving up on this series! What a page turner. This 2nd book in the series definitely did not disappoint and I thought it was fantastic. Jaxon and Kayla, the love, loss and secrets they both had. When Kayla finally get away from a very abusive boyfriend, Roy, finding Jaxon again was perfect. I love Jaxon and his love for Kayla. When secrets come out on Kayla’s brother, Kieran and his death, all while to try and hide from Kayla’s abusive ex-boyfriend, can love survive? You definitely should read this book and find out. This book is a definite page turner and hard to put down, I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next.

Forbidden Wolf (The Shadow Chronicles 1) by CR Robertson was a privilege to read! This has been one of my favorite reads for the year. The characters are so easy to like, love, dislike, and love again. The writing is so descriptive and vivid that i could literally imagine everything that was happening and “see” everyone.
The storyline is addicting and I could NOT put this book down! For fans of the movie Underworld- I would definitely recommend this book. It’s sexy and addicting. I plan to reread it soon and I can NOT wait to read the rest!

This is my first book by Hazel Storm. I am not sure what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised! I love mythology and the characters are well written. It was a little slow at the beginning but really picked up. I can’t wait for the next book.

After reading the synopsis of the book, I thought, “Oh, it’s just another vampire book.” Was I ever wrong? This book goes beyond any other vampire book and looks at the scientific discoveries that have helped vampires evolve and into the hierarchy of the vampire world. This story of love and mystery will astound you.

Dirty Kisses and Conflicting Wishes (Book #1 in the Kiss Me series) by Danielle Jacks was a really good read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and also enjoyed watching the characters quick journey. My only complaint is that I found this novel predictable. I saw the ending almost from the ending, so that aspect took away from it for me, personally. I would have enjoyed a little more mystery to it? Or maybe just some more comedy but that was just me. Other than that this was a really enjoyable and sweet read. And I did get moved by some of the passages. Overall I really enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.

Considering The Hunter’s Heart is Ms. Sharpe’s first novel all I can say is wow. One of my favorite things in a book is when an author gives their readers view points from both of their leading characters Ms. Sharpe does this flawlessly in The Hunter’s Heart and it blew me away. Her writing style flows beautifully, her imagination paints beautiful scenery for her readers and her descriptions leave her readers feeling everything that her main characters feel. Her romance goes from a slow simmer to a boil with twists and turns that her readers won’t see coming. While I am not normally a Sci-fi lover, this Sci-fi romance was so good that I can’t wait to see what Ms. Sharpe has planned next.

This is the first book in the Love After Earth series. I have been on a sci-fi romance kick lately, and this book delivered. I liked Poppy’s attitude of dealing with a situation – she focused on her survival, waited until it was safe to have a mini-meltdown, then moved on to figuring out a plan of action. I relate to Poppy in that way as I do my best to do the same. Zensah is awesome! I loved his sense of honour and willingness to teach Poppy. He may have been a bit hard on himself for some of the events that happened, but he did his best to be fair to Poppy and the other humans. He is super sweet and treats Poppy like a person capable of learning and making her own decisions.
The world-building is well done. I thought the descriptions were great and the way the planet worked was interesting. I also liked that even though language was not a huge barrier, things like idioms, slang, and culture, still made communication interesting. I look forward to reading more in this series and finding out what happens with the other women taken with Poppy.

Blue Summer Part two starts off directly where Part One finished off. If you haven’t read the first part yet, I would suggest doing so before reading this book. After reading the first book I was very intrigued to see where Part two was going to take me. Part one finished with a cliff hanger so I immediately started the second part and I was not disappointed. The characters are sarcastic, witty, smart, caring and just really relatable except for, you know, the magical aspect of their lives. I loved seeing the relationships build into something powerful and loving. Lillie the main character always felt like an outcast but the Zayed made her feel like home even before becoming one of them. There are a few unexpected twists in this story which made it more exciting than part one in my eyes. It is a quick and interesting read.

Bound by Secrets was just as amazing as Ms. McKinley’s first book in this series. I personally have no idea how I haven’t stumbled across her before now, but I can’t get enough. Bound by Secrets is full of emotions, plot twists, and had me crying more then once. One of the many reasons this book is go great is because it’s a combination of 2 genres second chance romance and military romance. But once again Ms. McKinley’s writing style and story line had this reader flipping the pages faster than she could blink. While this book is part of the Deadly Isles Special Ops series they can be read as stand-alone books. But if your anything like me you’ll read one and be so caught up in the emotions and plot twists that you’ll want to read them all. So if you are looking for an emotional military romance to read this weekend then I highly recommend Bound By Secrets.

This is the first book I’ve read by Calder. I will definitely be coming back for more. Sexy Drug is the first book in the Losing My Heart Series.
Katie is the only daughter of a known drug dealer. She is shot and watches her best friend die in front of her eyes. Then she finds herself attracted to her new body guard. Although she knows she shouldn’t, she ends up falling for him. The quote I chose for Katie is: “I know there’s a back way. I just don’t want the staff to see this either. They talk and I can’t handle any more rumors. Not with being stuck here until I’m sold to the highest bidder.”
Ramone is on a job and doesn’t want to put up with what he calls a selfish brat. Once he gets to know Katie and understands why she acts the way she does he starts falling. He shouldn’t feel this way since she is the boss’s daughter and off limits to him. The quote I chose for Ramone is: “As you know, your father wants us to join him for breakfast. You have fifteen minutes before we have to leave, if we are to make it on time. If there’s nothing else you need, I’ll be in my chair.”
