The Dream Catchers (Prestoria) by J. U. Menon. I loved this middle school age read. Its the first in the Prestoria series and its a great read full of adventure and fun. Its the story of Radhika Varma who lives with her brother and Aunt. She goes to school, has friends and has a wild imagination. Radhika doesn’t realize she has special powers so when she dreams of a certain man and he seems to be telling her something she is scared at first but then realizes she needs to listen to him. Realizing she has been picked to compete in Prestoria in the real of nightmares she knows she has to use that imagination to save her life! Will Radhika be able to win this challenge and get home safe and sound before morning or will she be in more trouble than she ever imagined. This will be such a fun read for kids.

This is another new author for me but looking at the book cover reminded me of a soap opera, so I had to pick it up. I found this to be a very will written book with a wonderful cast of characters. I especially fell in love with the main character as she seemed to be acting irrationally trying to find herself. Something that I have also experienced in my younger twenties. I feel like this made the story more relatable to me and therefore I couldn’t put it down. Watching the main character overcome her emotional and inner turmoil made me laugh and cry as I could feel not only her pain and angst, but her need to find trusting anyone to be a problem. I can truly say I have been in her shoes. This is a good read and I do recommend you pick it up and give it a read.

Sinful Daughter (Dark Mafia Sins Book 1) by Emily Bowie I love a good Mob book and this one was great! Its the story of Theo Fox who is a cop and is determined to take down the largest mafia family around. Theo has a major grudge against them for killing his father so the stakes are high in this case. When Theo meets Aria Rossi things change. She is the daughter of this mob boss and when he gets in with her he thinks he’s going to be able to take them down no problem. Only problem is he likes Aria, really likes her. He is consumed with thoughts of her and wants nothing more than her. She makes him rethink what is right and what is wrong. Aria knows she is supposed to hate Theo but there is something there that she can’t help but respond to. She knows he’s out to get her family but she still likes him. This is the second book in this author’s Journeys Through series, a series that can be read out of order but for reader enjoyment I would suggest reading book 1 first.
Right from the beginning this author pulls you in with all of the detail! In the first few chapters I did find that the amount of detail is slightly overwhelming as the storyline flips from different POV’s, however, I was able to quickly piece everything together as I continued reading. I am in awe with all of the detail and background information, you can clearly tell that this author has spent countless hours researching this topic.
I enjoyed following along with some of the characters from the first book and I also enjoyed all of the surprise elements and the shocking moments that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a one of a kind read!

Hold Me Forever is the first book I have read in this series so I can honestly say that it can be read as a standalone, as I was able to jump right in and follow along without any problem. However, I loved this book so much that I will absolutely be diving back into the series and reading the first two books of the Heron Harbor series.
I loved both Lark and Hunter, they were two characters with so much history and chemistry that you could practically feel through the pages. I found them super easy to connect with, the author managed to make them feel so real and I quickly found myself feeling invested in how their story was going to play out. And let me tell you I was not disappointed!
I look forward to starting this series over from the beginning and I look forward to hopefully reading more of some of my favorite secondary characters.

This was a beautifully well written story that truly captured my own heart and I had trouble letting go as I read through it. It showed me in truth, sometimes we lose the most precious thing we love the most and even if we truly treasure it and squeeze it as tight as we can in our hands…it still can slip through, but if its meant to be it will always find its way back to you. True love is never really gone, it just gets put on the back burner for a while sometimes. Sometimes trusting your heart is the best decision you could ever truly make.
This was a story of love that was, love that was lost, and of love that maybe was truly meant to be all along, but sometimes the irony of a second chance requires a little bit more convincing. The story followed through on Lark, whom was a great artist. I admired her she followed her passion and her dreams and got to live the live she wanted so much and be perfectly happy! Or was she? The art she paints perhaps it hides more pain and loss than she cares to let on? She was living the dream and she felt so happy, but was something inside her heart missing? She was strong willed and had her walls up, but in all honesty she knew very well one person had her heart and always would…and his name was Hunter.
Hunter was a old flame of Lark. He and Lark had a time together, and they I feel both knew it was the rea thing, Sadly, life gives you choices and you have to make decisions on what is thrown at you, and sometimes you have to gain something and lose something. That’s what had happened here. Hunter is now a police chief of the town that gave him the true love you can only hope to read about in books.
Perhaps fate had another chance though, Hunter and Lark are brought back together for the town that lit their flame, for a wedding they both had reasons to attend. Perhaps the town would re light what once was but this time keep it burning forever. Sometimes the best things in life are never easy. They take work, love, and trust, and sometimes it means trusting someone to love you and to have the power to hurt you, but in truth you are trusting them not to. True love is never really gone from the world you reside or your heart, you just have to help it as well as yourself, find a way back to one another.
Beautiful love story and well written. It truly got to my emotions and I loved it. I love small town romance novels and I love a love story that shows you even if you lose one another you can still find your way back to one another, even when it seems literally impossible. Lark and Hunter were two characters I truly felt for. They had a strong ambition in both their hearts, and yet cared for one so deeply, that they would always be there no matter what they faced, because their love was that strong. I loved seeing them re kindle what once was plus growing as a couple and as well as a person in themselves. I t was like a watching a beautiful ballet where you can hope for the best and get more than you ever expected when you get to the end. The story and the bond of the characters, were heart felt and engaging.
I truly enjoyed this book. I truly can say I will be picking up more by this wonderful author. The story was sweet, sensitive, and realistic to me. We all can face better options in life, and take a loss with it, but sometimes you go back to where you first started. Highly recommend you pick up and read this book.

This is the first book I’ve read by Bowie. This book had me hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time. Theo and Aria had me falling in love.
Aria is the oldest of the girls. Not wanting to be in the family business she gets caught up in it. When Theo enters her life it’s turned upside down. The quote I chose for Aria is: “I thought it would be exciting. I envisioned saving my family, showing I can be as good at this life as them. I was petrified that I put my family’s lives in danger. I was scared I would never see you, to tell you how big of an a**hole you are—”
Theo is a cop and isn’t a dirty one. His only reason for being a good guy is to find who killed his dad. Once he finds out who it is, things change. He thought he could use Aria, but didn’t think he’d fall in love. The quote I chose for Theo is: “I know I let you down by us losing the case with Marco. But I have evidence, hard proof, that Nicoli Rossi killed my father. This evidence will put him away. This is the break we’ve been looking for.”

Journeys Through Spacetime is the first book from James Talisman and I definitely think it will be the first of many from this talented author. I am not usually a Sci/Fi reader but after reading this book with such vivid worlds and creatively written characters I might just be starting to become a fan. To get this old girl to try something new is no small feat so thanks Mr Talisman for showing me old dogs can in fact learn new tricks.
I will say I struggled at first with the amount of changes from one place/ set of characters to another…I guess I should actually call that the Multiverse… but that is totally on me. I kept with it and found my flow with the story and I am so glad I did. If this kind of story telling is a challenge for you also, I strongly suggest sticking with it as you will be rewarded with an action packed, imaginative and phenomenally well crafted story.

This is the 4th book in the series. Dahlia and Levi are at it and meeting in a work situation. Years after falling out working together again she got her life in track but of course there bumps in the road. Fate can be a cruel things right. I love how the interactions happen with each other and thier dymnaics. Nice read but a bit slow to start.

Cursed Touch is the fourth book in the Broderick Coven series by AJ Renee. If you are new to this series I would say you could easily read this as a standalone story, but you will meet characters from previous books along the way, so starting from book one makes this even more enjoyable.
In Cursed Touch, we meet Carter and Vanessa. Carter is a Doctor, he is part of the Broderick Coven as he has healing powers. Carter meets Vanessa in the ER when she accompanies her neighbour with a ‘dog bite’. Vanessa is open-minded and curious about the supernatural world. She is sure there is more to this situation than meets the eye and she wants to learn more. When Vanessa meets Carter, the attraction is instant and he soon becomes her protector as she digs deeper into the supernatural world.
I really enjoyed this fourth addition to the series. As with the previous books, the story is full of humour, romance, and plenty of action. The characters are realistic and likeable, they keep you hooked and needing to know what happens. I finished this book wanting more and looking forward to the next book in the series.

Awakening the gods by Kristin Gleeson was a really enjoyable read. Starting off losing her job as a barista, then playing Celtic music at the pub, while flirting with Luke, and eventually her calling. They both end up accepting their destiny. She is a strong woman and will do what she needs to do. I look forward to the next book in the series!

The Dream Catchers is a fast paced fantasy book, through Indian folklore . Set in the land of dreams, the heroine Radhika Varma is picked to compete in a challenge in Prestoria, the realm of nightmares. She has to rely on her overactive imagination to save herself. She has to create her own defenses and fight against the demons, and travel to a mystical gateway before dawn to win the challenge. Similar to Jumanji, if she fails to do so, she is locked in her dreams. But then there are more challenges than what meets the eye. She is accused of assaulting one of the other dream catchers. Will she clear her name and emerge victorious from the challenge forms the crux of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it reminded me of Jumanji time and again. A very good fantasy around Indian myths, I loved every bit of it.

With Fletcher as a father- who needs enemies? Cold Bastard is an original tale woven in intrigue, peppered with complex characters, and sprinkled in mystery and suspense.
This is the first book I’ve read from India, and I was not disappointed with her ability to capture and retain my interest. Zoe represents a resilient heroine who is sexy, smart, and sassy. Archer, the tycoon, suffering from past demons, has an icebox for a heart. When their worlds collide, their chemistry is instant and explosive. Archer helps Zoe get over her insecurities concerning her body and Zoe obliterates the ice in Archer’s heart.
I had fun reading this novel- if you require a much-needed escape from reality- grab a copy of Cold Bastard- I promise you won’t be disappointed.

This fun rom-com did remind me a little bit of you have got mail. Elle, the heroine, runs her late mother’s bakery and then a handsome hot rich dude opens up a cake shop next door. She is conflicted to him and is suspicious of him, but she falls for him nevertheless. Then there is a mystery of a stealth of a recipe and certain other ridiculous events which cause her to suspect him more. Slowly the mystery unfolds and all well, that ends well. A hilarious sweet rom com with a mystery twist to it. I enjoyed this book.

This is the first book I’ve read by Burton. I loved every minute of reading this. This short, funny, page-turning story will have you hanging on the edge of your seat.

I welcomed the perspective that India chose to tell this story. The ‘perfect life’ façade is usually a typical portrayal of characters. I appreciated that India decided to colour out the lines.
She highlighted the emotional burden that stems from trying to saying everyone (Ellie) and dealing with unresolved childhood trauma (Sam). It was important that the characters were allowed to work through this and overcame their feelings of depression. They healed in their way and on their own time. They rediscovered reasons for living.
I became fond of the characters, and I am contented that they got their happy ending. This novel will have you crying, upset and on the edge of your seat; do not just take my word for it, grab yourself a copy today.

The Dream Catchers by J.U. Menon is an amazing book for all ages! I read this to, and along with, my 7-year-old daughter and we both loved it! The characters are believably realistic and the plot is extremely imaginative. We were all imaginative children once, and The Dream Catchers transported me back to that time of wonderment and awe. J.U. Menon’s writing is descriptive, yet easy enough for younger readers to understand. This book pulls you in from the beginning and takes you on an amazing adventure through the dream world of Prestoria. I look forward to more books by J.U. Menon.

This was a great 5 star read. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down.
Aria is a mafia princess with an attitude. She has plans to be a lawyer for the family. One night her father shares some news with her that changes everything. She decides to rebel a little and ends up going out with her friend, she ends up meeting a very hot cop, Theo.
Theo has a goal to go after Aria’s family but after meeting Aria he can’t resist her. Everytime he is near her he is drawn to her. These two have some very steamy moments, dangerous moments I might add, especially if her father were to find out.
How will this all end for them? Can they have a HEA? What will happen if their secret comes out?
Overall this was a great read. I felt like there were several stories in this book and I loved it. The author did a great job with her writing and pulled you right in. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I really loved Aria and her sassiness. You could feel their attraction coming off the pages. There is so much tension in this novel; from who is threatening who, to who wants to get into bed with who, in more ways than one! Aria and Theo are the perfectly wrong people for each other: she’s the daughter of a mafia boss; he’s a cop out to punish those who thought they were above the law, especially the Rossi family. Of course that’s what makes the sexual tension between Aria and Theo palpable. They just can’t seem to stay away from one another, despite the prying eyes. And Aria’s privacy and passions are truly tested when she is forced into an arranged marriage for the sake of her family. In a crime family where nothing is as it seems, who can Aria trust, with her heart and with her secrets?
3.5 stars rounded up. I wanted to enjoy this novel so much more than I did. I enjoyed the premise and the sexual tension between Aria and Theo, as well as the push and pull between the Rossi’s and Mancini’s, and Theo and the Rossi’s, however I couldn’t immerse myself in the story completely. I felt like the story was drawn out and more drama added without giving a reason or a truly viable conclusion. I also personally didn’t like the writing style used. Maybe I can come back and reread in the future and enjoy the story and all the drama more, but for now I’m left feeling underwhelmed.

When you’re faced with competition, literally next door to your place of business, the last thing you might expect is to find yourself in a hair-brained scheme to take down your enemy – only to realize you’re falling for said enemy. This book had me giggling like a schoolgirl and, at times, questions the intentions of the characters. In many romcoms, you get a flat view of the main character’s love story, but I found myself learning about some of the side characters as well. All in all, this was a short and sweet read that felt more well-rounded than other stories of equal length. And now I’m craving something sweet, maybe the second book?

I have read so many 5 star books lately & of course this one is too. We follow 911 dispatcher Ellie and Sam as they both coincidentally meet on the hardest night of the year for both of them. But, in the end is Ellie’s life worth the risk for Sam’s love? With a huge target on Sam’s back we’re left hanging and when it becomes a life or death situation, they need each other to get out of it. This book had numerous twists, turns, steamy scenes and at the end of the day just makes you want to fall in love. But at the same time. The cliffhanger at the end?!?🤯 I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

This book had me on edge throughout the entirety. I loved it and I want another one. I loved the concept of the dream catchers and their Journey and the trials each one went through to test the strength and willpower as well as their own demons. It’s always crazy to see what feeds our inner beast and what compassion can do for others. This story has Radhika coming out of her shell after the death of her parents and finding friends and enemies in unlikely places. Who can she trust? Read on and find out!

This was my first crime thriller book that I’ve read and I think this was a good first choice. Matthew Huntley had all the pieces that made this a good thriller. The book was suspenseful, had you second guessing each character, and trying to solve the case of copycat or the real Azrael killer. Levi has his own secrets and so it seems, so does Parker. I loved that Levi, the drunk, washed up, retired detective gets dragged back into the field by the over zealous, fresh meat detective Parker. This is a must read and Matthew Huntley is a author you should follow.

It is about newly formed relationships with unexpected people who become friends through a shared experience. Kimberly has done a great job of giving us something raw and beautiful when you are dealing with mental health and terminal illness. This hauntingly beautiful tale will stick with you long after you have read the last page. It makes you think about your own mortality and just what you would want to do or have done before your own time is up and celebrating life.
I love the line “Everybody dies, the lucky ones have fun doing it.”

Hairballs and Homicide is the first book in the A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery by Ruth J. Hartman and is a cozy mystery and a sweet romance rolled into one. Our super sleuth is on the hunt for a murderer with her trusty sidekick superbly dressed cat. That’s right our female lead loves and rescues cats but she loves to dress them up. I mean what is a story without a little quirkiness going on to make it fun. There a quite a few colourful characters that will have you laughing out loud and people on the bus staring at you. But who cares if it makes you feel good, right? This entertaining tale is full of comedic banter and is a great escape.

Dark is the perfect description for Sam. His history with his “father” is something worse that I imagined it to be. I knew Finch was the scum of the earth but he has proven that title is too kind.
Sam manages to try and climb out of the darkness only after a misdialed call and fate has something else in mind for him.
Ellie is something else, she wants to help everyone and seems to have taken it upon herself to save them even if they don’t want to be saved and it’s taken it’s toll on her. Her need to save may be just what Sam needs.
I have throughly enjoyed these books, especially the amazing relationships the brothers have with one another. Though not raised together they have an incredibly tight bond which leaves no doubt on who has their backs.
I’m so excited to read Oz’s story but sad that this series is probably coming to an end.
