My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lawyer Donovan Trait and Judge Shirley Magnusen are back and it is the day before their wedding, Donovan is doing his usual as he pursues a case for those who cannot represent themselves and is filling the courtroom with his usual pizazz, so as he has an early finish, he decides to visit his bride to be while she is on a break. He asks her why she hasn’t taken the day off to prepare for the wedding, she responds that his mother has helped with it all, but that the minister is flapping a bit and that he should call him, but soon Donovan is his usual irresistible self and she is totally swayed by it, at least until she is called away.

As the day of the wedding dawns, Shirley is getting ready and is thinking about her turning, about what it will mean for her future and how happy she is with the whole situation, apart from maybe the press and paparazzi who will be waiting outside. They next head to meet with the Vampire Council so that they can give their final blessing to their union, but Shirley is feeling a little light headed and nauseous, but she just puts it down to wedding jitters, what with all the pomp and ceremony, however, she has to have a health appointment just in case it is to do with her turning, but what the results reveal to Donovan is about to change their lives again. It turns out that Shirley is pregnant and as much as they want to shout it from the rooftops, they decide to keep the news quiet until after the ceremony, which they immediately regret when they are called before the Council for a trial.

The opening statements are made, the evidence is presented, as well as the reasoning behind why this isn’t a breach of the marital agreement they made, however, the Council has other ideas and they deem the Traits as guilty of breaching their marital agreement and as such drastic punishment must be meted out, instead, the Traits flee and make their way to an island run by Vampire Nuns, but will they be able to keep out of reach of the Vampire Council, or will their growing family be torn apart before they even have a chance to live? This is a paranormal romance with an edge of danger and rebellion as you travel along the path the Traits are forging to reach calm waters and the safety they crave.
