Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 1) by Russell Archey – Review by Angela Hayes

“He looked to his left at the aldyr tree that grew precariously near the edge of that mighty drop. It should have remained blooming throughout the fall and winter despite cold, darkness, and snow. Now, it was dead—a lifeless reminder of what was happening to his world. Lush and full of timeless vigor, the aldyrs are sacred to the world. Now, they all lay dry and lifeless; broken like the world that once was.”

Ashes of Aldyr is the first book in The Obscured Throne Trilogy by Russell Archey. This is my first read by Mr. Archey, so I really didn’t know what to expect from his work- but the title , cover and blurb captured my attention, so I grabbed a copy and set off to explore.
This is a really great start to the trilogy- which, if this book is anything to go by, looks set to be fantastic. I loved Mr. Archey’s darker take on an epic fantasy story- weaving an action-packed adventure I won’t soon forget. He has a bold and dynamic style that really works well with this genre. His world building skills are also excellent- crafting a world that came to life before my eyes. It was so easy to imagine everything he was describing, like it was playing out on a screen, not merely words written on a page. I can see this making a great movie or television series.
This is a bit of a multi-layered story- with a bit of a dystopian feel in places. The storyline is quite original, with lots of dramatic developments and other clever and unique touches that made the story an intense page turner. I started the story thinking I would just read a few chapters and then go to bed- well, several hours later and wayyy past my bedtime, I finally finished and came up for air. Sleep is over-rated…. right?.
This is a series I definitely want to continue…. I am hooked and can’t wait for more- the sooner the better!
If you love fantasy with a darker, edgier feel- then this is definitely the book/series for you!
Bring on Book #2!

Thank you, Russell Archey!

Rock Me to the Top is the first book in the Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour series by Victoria Zak. It is a fantastic rockstar romance with friends-to-lovers, angst, drama, secrets, chemistry, sizzle, and plenty of emotion.
I know Ms. Zak for her ‘Guardian’s of Scotland’ stories- a paranormal historical highlander series. So this book is definitely a change from what I would have expected from her. I was curious to see what she would do with a rockstar romance- and let me say right off the bat- she does not disappoint. I should never have doubted that, as Ms. Zak definitely know how to tell a captivating story, and as I just learned- she can handle any genre brilliantly.
This is Joe Grace and Melody Sterling’s story. Joe is the HOT drummer for Gracefall- a metal band climbing the charts and stamping their mark on the music industry. Melody is Joe’s best friend, who also happens to be the daughter of a rock legend. Due to seeing the tole that rock-and-roll and fame took on her parents relationship, Mel had vowed to never date a rock star, ever. But when Joe hires her to manage the band’s latest tour, things take a steamy and unexpected turn. What happens when past secrets are revealed, putting pressure on their relationship? This is definitely worth the read to find out!
Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Thank you, Victoria Zak!

Shadows of Doubt (A Crawford Mystery) by Merissa Racine – Review by Moriah Venable

Shadows of Doubt: A Crawford MysteryShadows of Doubt: A Crawford Mystery by Merissa Racine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shadows of Doubt is a novel by Merissa Racine. This is part of the Crawford Mystery series.

This is my first novel by this author and I could not put it down.

Lauren Besoner is desperate for money to the point where she agrees to work with her ex husband, the newly appointed judge.

But she realizes as she reports the murder case, that the wrong person is standing in the courtroom.

Will she continue to do the job she was hired to do or will she try to find the real killer?

This is my first novel by this author and I really enjoyed it. Definitely felt the dilemma Lauren found herself in. It would be the right thing to do to find the real culprit so someone did not go to jail, unjustly. On the other hand, she was paid to do a job and others may not believe her or cause her not to get paid.

I could not put this book down. I haven’t read any court based mysteries so this was a new genre for me and I am so happy I gave it a chance.

Now I want to go back and read the previous novel.

She keeps her safe and still learning to care for a baby. It was a very enjoyable short read, and do recommend it, a good start to a series can’t wait for the next book.

Tenacious (Billionaire Bodyguards # 6)Tenacious by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tenacious is the 6th book in the Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance by Via Mari! I’ll admit this is actually the first book by this author I have read and I was hooked from the get go. Allie O’Conner only holds her job and her friends close. As far men go? She is not in the business of getting her heart broken so she plays it safe until she meets Nick who she describes as a blue-eyed devil. She is instantly attracted to him. Nick is used to getting anyone he wants but Allie has walls and Nick is determined to break each one down to uncover her heart. The only thing standing in their way is the men out to tie up loose ends like Allie and her best friend Lexie.

This is a fast paced book, with romance, action, suspense and real characters growth. I really enjoyed this book and will be going back to read the others! Via Mari did a wonderful job!!

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour Book One)Rock Me To The Top by Victoria Zak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book took me on some twists and turns, it was like riding a roller coaster. This is not your typical rock star romance book. Yes, it has the typical alpha male that most do but he has a twist that isn’t typical in your rock star romance. He is not an @$$. The slow burn that is built in the book has you constantly turning the page to see what happens next in their journey. Can they overcome what has happened in their lives in the past to build something that could be amazing for their future? That is what I was constantly asking myself while reading this book. Then, once I thought I had a handle on how things were going to go…. BAM…. out of no where comes a twist that not only turned everything upside down but messed with my emotions. This book almost had me in tears for so many different reason. That is what told me that this book was written really good. Not many authors can build your emotions to go through a vast array and make you feel them. I am giving this book 4 stars because, even though I know this is the first book in the series, I felt like there could have been more story lines with the side characters. We can guess that the next books are going to be about them, so not having many details is probably a good thing. I am just one that likes to know more about the characters that I will continue reading about. That being said, I will continue to read this series because I need to know what happens after that crazy twist.

Victoria Zak wrote this fast paced romance. For me she has opened my eyes to the world behind the band tours. Her writing is clear, her characters are believable and the romance will keep you reading. While I don’t normally read this genre, I decided to give it a read. I am so glad I did. For this was a great story. This history behind the band’s was spot on. Now I am looking forward to the next book in this series.Well Done Victoria Zak! Well Done! ! !

Ashes of AldyrAshes of Aldyr by Russell Archey

This book literally had me hooked right from the start! I can not begin to say how good and amazing this book was as well as the this amazing author’s writing. I felt I was right there with the story as well as enduring the dark danger that lurked near by! his was a must read for sure, highly recommended!

In truth, these branches were sacred. They each had a piece of life, and had t be protected and upheld, power comes with a price, and if the wrong hands were to obtain it, who knows what would happen right? The story as well as the branches the story and plot weaved, were so convincing and griping, I was sucked in learning and questioning all things. I loved the take on the fantasy mixed with some horror. This book had quickly become of my favorites. I loved this amazing novel, there was a lot of wonderment and suspense for me upon reading, and I could not put this down, I had more answers to seek!

This is a novel that is the start of a new series, and I will defiantly with an anxious heart be waiting for the next installment. This is a book that you really need to read, and to truly understand my love for this book to feel the feelings I had upon reading, the characters and their stories, it can truly be felt from the reader. The author knew exactly what they were doing when they wrote this! Yes, I was highly impressed the story keeps you interested and brings more things to light when you think you have figured something out, its gripping and full of amazement even at the dark moments!

The book is a perfect blend of fantasy for my linking, and the hint of darkness and horror was very much welcomes. I was on the edge of my seat for the duration I was hooked right in from the beginning and I could not let go, perhaps I was held together by branches of something pulling me back? All I know is that this book surpassed my expectations and truly was awesome! High recommendation for this book!

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour Book One)Rock Me To The Top by Victoria Zak

This was a brand new author for me to discover, and I am so glad that I did! I loved how this talented author weaved together a very entertaining story, with my love of rock thrown into the mix! The story was engaging, full of the drama that can come with rock n roll, and a few unexpected notes as well!

For me what really pulled me into this book, was the insight it gave me. A rock star has a good life, adoring fans what more could they want right? There was so much behind the scenes, some things I had thought about, and well other things his book the way it was written, opened my eyes up and it really gave me a in depth feel for the characters! The book itself brought on a lot of feelings, all were welcomed by me, because to me they are what made this wonderful book!

I loved Melody and Joe as characters. Both came from a love of rock, not just for their interest, but for what filled their hearts for the love of rock. I loved how they were so close friends, and destiny brought them to work together. I new it would not all be perfect notes when they started their journey, but the key to good music is getting those bad notes and keys out of the way right I loved their story and their sides to their own personal sides of who they were, and what make them who they are. They were two souls in the world of rock, and their hearts were heavy for sure. I loved their story, and it really made this book powerful in every way. This book was so addictive, I could not put it down till I finished it!

As said this was a brand new discovered author for me, but this is far from my final book to read by them. I can not wait for more books in this series to come out. Plus an author who portrayed a beautiful rock n roll story as this is highly commendable! Loved their writing skill and how they flowed the story!

Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors (Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by C. L. Schneider – Review by Amanda Glaspie

Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider was another exciting installment in the Nite Fire series. Once again we follow Dahlia Nite as she helps to solve the mysteries within her city. Armed with her new sidekick, Officer Evans, she unravels the secrets of an underground market and the impending doom of the blight that is encroaching on the many worlds. I once again found myself cheering on the characters as they are put into situations that test their limits and feel their pain when life is lost. The narrator.is perfect for the series and I hope sh continues for the next book. I will be anxiously awaiting book 4.

Shadows of Doubt (A Crawford Mystery)Shadows of Doubt by Merissa Racine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadows of Doubt is the second book of A Crawford Mystery by Merissa Racine. I highly suggest you read book one to be introduced to the main character of the book. The plotline is one of the best crime/thriller books I have read in a long time. The story kept me turning the pages faster and faster because I needed to see what was on the next page. The plotline kept me grounded because I did not want to miss a clue as to what was going to happen. The characters are off the charts. This is Lauren’s story, She has gotten herself in the middle of a murder mystery. Lauren needs money and she goes to her ex-husband, a new judge, for a job as his court reporter. Lauren is drawn to the case that is before her husband. She just cannot seem to stay out of trouble. She starts investigating and low and beholds she finds secrets the kind that she would have liked to keep buried. Will Lauren figure out the true identity of the murder or will there be a secret shared that cannot be unshared? I highly recommend this book to see how the story unfolds in your mind’s eye.

I’ve drifted away from YAs because the teenage drama isn’t relatable for me. Even when I was a teen it was still hard to relate to because I always thought the characters were just immature. But Alena is a well developed mature character that I can actually empathize. The story takes paranormal to a different place with the main character being a hybrid witch/vamp. Very fun read and can’t wait to read the 2nd book.

I love the worlds that Tricia Copeland fabricates, as they are pure magic. I adored the heroine, Alena, from page one, although all of the characters are extremely rich and intriguing. Alena, for only being seventeen, is an extremely mature and well rounded character. The attention to detail in the realm building process and story development is phenomenal! I cannot wait to read the next installment in Alena and Hunter’s story.

This is the last book of the Diamond Doms Series. This book was a really good end to the series. I’ve read the previous books and fell in love with them and all the relationships along the way. This book showed a great side of Russell but I wish there was more from Gemma. I will say the book did wrap up any previous questions and reintroduced you to previous characters in the series.

Another fantastic addition to the Broderick Coven Series! This time we get to follow an eagerly anticipated Broderick sibling at least for me anyways! Edward Broderick has always been a more mysterious unknown in where he fits in with his powers and the extended family the Broderick Coven has grown to be. I was thrilled to learn more about him and the addition of Mia Hemlock, a FMC who’s personality absolutely speaks to me (I love her)! This may end up being a favorite of the series for me. Getting able to see more depth and growth within the Broderick Coven family as each book continues has been a treat for those following along. In this continuation of the series we follow Carter Broderick a doctor/healer and one of the more critical and skeptical of the Broderick Siblings since finding out about their families lines and Vanessa Rayne who meets Carter after taking her neighbor in for a nasty infected bite. Love’s Refrain (A Stardust Duet Book 1) by KG Fletcher – Review by Sarah Hammel

Love's Refrain (The Stardust Duet, #1)Love’s Refrain by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Love’s Refrain, our main character Katherine is achieving her goal of going on tour with her musical group and returns home for two weekends of shows. A story of love, time, and hard work follows in Love Refrains and while I was at first uncomfortable with the time travel aspect because the main love interest is technically in love with Katherine when she is born, I quickly overcame this as he spends his time actively avoiding her and the family while she is growing up. The inclusion of the song they create together is touching and a wonderful moment for them both to have while they are not together. K.G. Fletcher’s writing style is very sweet and romantic as well as fitting for the scenes portrayed in the story. You can feel the sweeping lights on the stage and the glittering jewels of the performers shining in the spotlight. Absolutely cannot wait for the continuation, hopefully, of the story.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Via Mari has officially made late night reading hot again! This Billionaire Bodyguard series sits you front row center with a sexy Alpha that will make your late nights very sultry and steamy. I hate to say I’m starting a series backwards, but I do look forward to reading the other books.
Via Mari went no holds barred with this book! She gave her readers all the danger, dangerous men, suspense, intrigue, lust, action, and passion that could be thrown together.
We meet Allie and Nick who’s chemistry steams up the pages. Allie is an RN and she just goes through the motions daily trying to keep her heart numb and closed. Upon meeting Nick soo many emotions flair, but more than anything she’s scared. Nick is pure Alpha and the moment he met Allie he knew she was it, and he would prove it as a lover and protector. You wont be able to help the smile you get as you watch the love flow off the pages along with the danger and drama!

Kingdom of embers was truly a masterpiece. While I think any young adult would love it some of us not so young adults are here for it totally! So well written and imaginative! I couldn’t get enough nor could I put it down! This book was incredible and the plot was to die for! Great job! Highly reccomend!

Oh my goodness this book is so good. It definitely makes you cry and leaves you wanting more with the ending. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens to Tori and Will. I am hoping for a happy ending.
