The Bastard Prince (It’s Raining Royals) by Alix Nichols – Review by Alexandria Richard

The Bastard Prince (It's Raining Royals, #2)The Bastard Prince by Alix Nichols
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series is like a quick read, rom com, version of the DaVinci Code or Angels and Demon’s. I love the treasure hunt and “hide and seek” aspect.

I admit to not liking Arnaud at the beginning. I’m not a fan of having one of the MC’s having intimate relations with another person than the other MC without reason and I didn’t feel that that aspect of the storyline was necessary for his background. However he grew on me, with his propensity to not use plastic surgery to completely alter someone but bring out a bit more of their beauty, and his compassion for (most) others.

Alexandra, aka Sasha, was a likable character, who comes with health issues and mental baggage from said issues. I enjoyed her still wanting to be a strong and independent woman despite her health issues bordering a disability for her. One note is that I didn’t completely believe her health issues. As I know someone who had a kidney transplant and the difficulties that comes with the healing I feel that the author took liberties. It pulled me out of the storyline here and there, but it’s not likely to be noticed by many others and didn’t distract from the overall story.

I enjoyed reading the push and pull between Arnaud and Sasha and each of them determining what to do about their attraction.

I also liked getting more glimpses into the Mount Evor prophecy and finding another key. The glimpses into the ruling family and the country is fascinating.
