The Last Cabin Girl (Detective Josie Thompson Series) by Tom Swyers – Review by Felicia Bates

The Last Cabin GirlThe Last Cabin Girl by Tom Swyers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I haven’t read anything by this author before stumbling across this novel. While I wasn’t sure what to expect from the author’s writing style, I was optimistic as the synopsis intrigued me and the book fit my “preferred genre”. I am pleased to say the book did NOT disappoint and I look forward to reading more from this author in the near future. There are so many aspects of this story that I loved. I was drawn into the storyline from the very start and not once would I say my interest wavered. I really appreciated that the pandemic was a part of the storyline, especially since this is the first book I’ve read that incorporates it. I liked the writing style very much. I usually enjoy when books flash back or use letters to give us a bigger picture, so I really appreciated that the author included journal entries throughout. The writing was really strong with just enough of that element of suspense throughout. I would give this book 4 stars, from the well written plot to the depth of characters.
